I'm ok with him fading out but not just as a blob, should have been a little more in depth imo. He should have been able to have some final words since death isn't the end for all these other characters. Too good of a character to just be a blob someone else tells you is even him.
To add to my previous post about why Saurfang is present and it being a weird choice, IF and I am saying BIG IF, the interpretation many people are having that the souls of Varian and Saurfang reside within the Sword as they died fighting and holding it is correct. Maybe that would be good and explain why he was present here and not just cause they needed an orc to checkmark the horde representation box since Thrall was busy with.... something?I like to think that we will have a bit more explanation before the end. Was it just the light creating visions? Was it actually their souls coming to his aid out of nowhere? Were they resting within the sword? Really do hope we get an answer SOONER than later as they have been trying to do with recent cliffhangers or plot twists that been heavily criticized.
Aaah, a classic Steve Danuser's leading narrative that doesn't understand Warcraft's story at all. Thinking that of all people, Jaina would have nothing to say to Arthas, is truly a bad sign. Nah, let Sylvanas do some the generic talk about "judgement" and "burdens one has to bear", while she is the one who should be judged the most and by everyone (not just "Herp derp, I choose Tyrande to decide my fate." while she is in no position to choose her judge), as we had to carry her burden for 3 expansions already.
Not going to lie Steve Danuser is terrible at storytelling, the scene is wonderful and touching. But narratively it doesn't make sense, Sylvanas has no right to judge Arthas for what he has done knowing Arthas was a slave to the Jailer this whole time, did equal or more damage, and has a higher body count than him (Arthas). This whole scene would have been better IF Jania was the one saying Sylvanas lines, and Sylvanas was the one asking"Is this all that remains of him?" realizing that it could have been her in Arthas place if she stuck with the Jailer... Jaina saying Sylvanas lines is more touching in my opinion since Jaina had more of a history with Arthas. Jaina saw Arthas become that monster while blaming herself as Uther did, while Jaina saying those lines Sylvanas would have time to think about all the crimes she had done while listening to Jaina speaking to Arthas and as soon as Jaina would have said "Begone then Arthas, may the last whisper of your name fade and be forgotten" Would slap Sylvanas hard and realizing she has to atone all the misdeeds she has done or else like Arthas her name will be forgotten even by the very people she cared for in life The Sin'dorei and in death The Forsaken. I'm happy people enjoy the cinematic hell I enjoy it also, but I had enough of Steve Danuser's messy storytelling. Such as where is Nathanos Blightcaller? Vol'Jin not waking up. I can name so many other missed opportunities in Shadowlands but it'll be tiring. So I'll just leave it at this. I'm happy for those who enjoyed it.
Edit Posted twice oppsie moment.
Bets on how soon they'll announce WotLK Classic after deleting Arthas and saying he should be forgotten?
I guess they knew that if they had Arthas make a full appearance they would screw him up so they just left him as a wisp that faded in the end. Atleast they realize they suck at storytelling and didn't want to completely ruin a great character.
Dear Blizzard, you are a total disgrace to your legacy and to the legacy of the epic games you made in the past and their legendary heroes. What you did is simply sh** on your greatest character, when you could have made it soooooooooo much better.I am happy to declare this will be my final raid and final expansion in your sh**y product, since I have zero,I MEAN ABSOLUTE ZERO confidence in you and your writing.I am one of the many fans, who are tired of your bulls*** and I am done with you f***ing up the characters that made our childhoods awesome.Best of luck in the future, but you are no longer worth my time !
Sylvanas speaks and speaks to Arthas Menethil.... Meanwhile, Uther, his tutor, and Jaina, his ex lover, are silent. Well done, writing team. We didn't expect anything from you and still dissapoint us...
Wrong.Obviously you werent paying attention to the lore.Arthas didnt choose anything. His only choice was to go after Mal'Ganis in Northrend and pick up Frostmourne. From there it was all the Jailer's will that DOMINATED his choices. If Arthas cannot be redeemed I dont see any logic in Sylvanas being able to redeem herself. This is why fans (including me) are pissed - because Blizzard f*cked up their greatest character and saved Sylvannas so that a couple of Horde players will sleep happily.Anyways this will be the last time Blizzard disappoint me.
Richforce,I couldnt have said it better myself !
I have been paying attention I just don’t take everything to heart. Arthas knew exactly what he was doing he didn’t need to be dominated.
If Arthas knew what he was doing so did Sylvanas and Anduin.
Exactly ! They sh*t on their greatest character ever !
Sylvanas: "I hated you, hunted you, and with every act, became you. That is my burden to bear."Half the community: "How dare she be so hypocritical >:("I rewatched the cutscene after 12 hours because I saw people criticising Sylvanas's words for Arthas and I dunno, I think if you listen to them and the tone of her voice she sounds more... merciful is the wrong word, because she's not really in a position to be showing him mercy, but close to forgiveness."May the last whisper of your name fade" isn't as dismissive as it sounds when you consider his name is reviled on Azeroth, spoken of as a traitor king. She's essentially hoping he gets his rest and that people stop cursing his name (as much as one can get 'rest' when their soul is gone).
Arthas knew where his path was leading when taking up Frostmourne he knew the risks he knew what they outcome could be and it was his choice to continue the path. Like I said before he didn’t give others a choice. Arthas is the greatest story ever told on WoW in my opinion and it has a tragic and beautiful ending.
Well, if you decide to do something, do it good, or not do it at all. What I saw in this cinematic is definetly not good representing Arthas as a character, Jaina and Uther as well. At least, part with Anduin's struggle has some sort of feeling and impact, but Arthas' part? Big "NO".So that's why, as yoy said, "everyone were against" - they can not pay respect and justice to iconic characters. Just ruin them - and in this exact cinematic - literally.
