Nothing to say Uther? About the very last fragment of your boy Arthas, you know, the one you yeeted at the Maw? Jaina? Your beloved, the one you just said last patch you loved so much? We gonna let Sylvanas have the last word on this one? Hmmmhmm okay, alright. Cool Varian tho, little weird with Saurfang but sure I won't complain about him too much. Can we leave Sylvanas in Shadowlands perhaps? So if sons and lovers of others main caracteres die and stuff someone else can be the focus? Whatever with her redemption arc, I don't mind where she's going, if she's good, if she's evil. Just give some space for others where it's deserved. This is the last piece of Arthas's soul, not Nathanos. Come on! Uther AND Jaina are standing RIGHT THERE!
I knew it! The crystal Zovaal pulled from his collection and gave the Mawsworn blacksmith to forge Kingsmourne was Arthas' soul.
mmmm delicious another cool character that we will never get a proper closing on in a game built on fans of said character. Feelsgoodman
Should have been Varian AND Arthas talking to Anduin. Arthas should have reformed one final time and basically say what Sylvanas said, or at least say something to Uther/Jaina, and then choose to disappear on his own accordIs it incredible writing? NO but it'd be better than this. So sick of Sylvanas being shoehorned into every corner. I don't understand why she got the final verdict when Jaina and Uther have known Arthas personally for years and years
It's so sad Jaina doesn't even react when we see Arthas' soul go up in smoke...Your beloved one is here hellloooooo ? wtfRIP... so much wasted potential...Its not sound good for next cinematics...I just want Sylvanas go away from the story and never come back again please for god sake...
Did someone can fire Danuser please ?
Things I liked-Anduin restores Shalamayne to its normal state, we expected to see Varian show up somehow, this was it and was good. We have known that Anduin survives but the sword not being lost, being one of the last things Anduin has of his father... it means a lot.And thats it....Things I disliked-Saurfang though? Kinda weird, dude used the sword for about 2 minutes... but I can get behind this if not for.... Bolvar, the dude that trained and raised Anduin almost like a son, probably took better care of him than his own daughter. I mean... I would have even killed Bolvar if necessary through the expansion just to have him show up here, after all... he was already butchered since the beggining of Shadowlands with how poor he been written, may as well end his suffering. Guess thats what happens when your company is a dumpster fire and need to cut content, do rewrites over and over or something?Things I hated-I never imagined I could ever come to "hate" something to the level I hate Sylvanas' character, to the point that just her voice gets me there... Now, why does this cinematic have to focus on her? any of the other characters who meant more to the story and Arthas dare not speak? Why must it be focused on her... YET again. PLEASE, let. her. die (metaphorically or literally). Her acknowledgement of her becoming a Lich Queen in every aspect except wearing the helmet could have been done in a "tell me more" within the game.Edit: Better yet, save it for another cinematic as she is judged by Tyrande and all the other characters prior to her final judgement of if she dies/lives or whatever you finally decide to do with her.-Arthas treatment -Uther, threw his soul onto the Maw or Jaina, his friend and beloved who in his eyes ended up betraying him. Both could have said something, but instead we get Sylvanas telling Arthas practically to shoo away already because the story is about her now as we WILL be forced to accept her crimes and sins because she says she will live with the consecuences. Come on.....Better yet... how about its Anduin the one that speaks, explaining what has happened, talking about how he could feel Arthas' soul or whatever. Decide if you wanna commit to saying Arthas was truly evil and make it so that Anduin had mental fights against him, just like Arthas had before with Ner'zhul when he put on the helmet. Or if you wanna wash his decisions some and make it all the Jailer's fault saying he also felt his help as he broke control, hell, maybe make it so that it was HIM who made the last push to break control since based on the whole narrative of needing a special armament to fight the Jailer it is becoming VERY clear that we would get destroyed by him. But no... Arthas is THAT strong even just his soul that he aided Anduin as a last act even if it meant he 100% ceased to exist. All this as the last flicker of his essence fades away and with a proper farewell to what is arguably the most important character and story for Blizzard and Warcraft's success...So many BETTER things could have been done, the players had higher expectations from what seemed like a promise from the devs that Arthas was going to be treated well, this is NOT it... All he became was Sylvanas punching bag.
I'm guessing they couldn't get Laura Bailey for this so Jaina doesn't talk. We only really get even more Sylvanas monologuing in the Anduin cinematic, while Anduin doesn't even speak.
Arthas noooooooooooooooo =(((((btw if Sylvanas agrees that she is Arthas 2.0, why shouldn't we forgot her name from the history the same way as she asks us to forget Arthas?P.S Varian is DA MAN !
It was a pretty good cinematic all things considered.
if all we needed was the deus ex machina of these two dudes appearing, why didn't this happen earlier? like, i don't even like anduin, but if he and sylvanas had talked about this beforehand, this is a disservice to the character? idk man. in fact, if they had already revealed that anduin had done this willingly to help sylvanas, it would have been better if we were just shown an audience only cinematic bits and pieces of anduin fighting himself inside his own self since we don't need to be gagged and gooped. maybe they can show us his uncertainly and fear and maybe regret of pushing with the plan... show his struggle as he watches his own self hurt his friends... like it would've been a better more impactful scene if we experience his own desperation in his mind that would lead to the final push of them appearing rather than focusing on the both of them for pandering's sake. it really feels like such a hollow payout. you only get hyped because the faves come into the last minute like the endgame portal scene and they save anduin's ass from his own self instead of us seeing a pov of anduin facing his own demons inside his mind or something. like at this point, all his story hinges on what other people makes him do... but then again, maybe that's deliberate to shield him from any responsibility and consequence as a character.and let's not even start with how jaina and uther reacted to "arthas" lmao aaaaall that story for that flicker... and yet another sylvanas monologue.
trash
btw if there are no Jailor and no Arthas left, and Sylvanas is banished from the Horde, what is her purpose to stay in the Game?I think its time for Sylvanas to commit a suicide for a second time!
Let's put that massive logic hole aside that everything Anduin needed to break free was a Memory of Dad and his Orc Bro and that there was seemingly no way his brain could conjure this sooner. This was ... well ... Sylvanas Fanservice I guess?I bet every penny I own that the final cinematic of this expansion will also have her as the main focus. Not the covenants saying goodbye to their Maw Walker/Friends, not a nice shot of thee functioning Shadowlands. No, it will be Sylvanas with some flattened Monologue ....
Jaina and Uther should have been the ones front and center in this. They not only cared for Anduin, they cared for what was good in Arthas. Hijacking this scene to just be about Sylvanas was a disservice to every character around her. Sylvanas doesn't get to make that choice for other people to forget Arthas' legacy. Uther and Jaina will never forget the person before his fall.
