According to multiple reports, the rare item Vorus'arak's Carapace (which is needed for the Tell Me A Tale achievement) will be received after completing an island expedition where you killed Vorus'arak. He spawns on Skittering Hollow when Nerubians are there, typically in the pit in the middle of the island.

After over 100 hundred islands this week, ~25 of them Nerubian Skittering Hollow I have yet to see this rare.

Please send help, I'm losing my sanity

This mob is incredibly rare, over 150 Skittering Hollows this week alone and have still never seen this mob.

Vorus'arak's Carapace drops from the Swarm Lord, Vorus'arak in Skittering Hollow. Check Wowhead weekly News to be sure the Nerubians (giant spiders) are up in Skittering Hollow.

Kronatan	no special spawn point. He can appear in many places . So use macros "/tar Varus" and check every boss point.
Doloria	We found him inside a cave at 50.04, 54.30 in the middle of the zone map. I think this was near the edge of the pit - the black area on the left of the map.
Jezartroz	He was found in the "pit" in a cave filled with Nerubians.
Aurecante	I had a macro "/target Vorus" and after 5 or 6 Skittering Hollow where it wasn't there, we found it in a little cave (coords 47 53).
Todesfeuer	I can confirm – /way 47, 53 Vorus'arak finally got Skittering Hollow to pop today and got it right away.
Dahustler	I found him around 35 37 standing in the open after around 10 HC Skittering Hollow today.
Elodeon	When I finally found Vorus'arak, he was in the middle of the pit (not in a cave like others have found him).
MatekFX	I done like 20+ skittering hollow HC this week and nothing, done ONE normal and he was there (left bottom corner of map).
Tunney	I found Vorus'arak in the northern part of the pit. He looks like a giant scarab beetle.

From reading other posts, I knew each of us had to tag Vorus'arak to get the quest Vorus'arak's Carapace. We killed him, but no one received the quest. As we were leaving Skittering Hollow at the end of the Island Expedition, the quest popped up in large type in the objectives section on the screen for each of us. (Island Expedition difficulty was Mythic.)

The turn-in is in Dragonblight in Northrend. Go to Dalaran via the Crystalsong Forest portal in the Mage Tower or the Pathfinder's Den in the Main Gates of Orgrimmar. Check the map of Northrend - you'll see a large yellow question mark in Dragonblight. Turn it in to Kilix the Unraveler in an ice tunnel below ground at 26.2, 50.6. Fly down the large hole in the ground.

Vorus'arak's Carapace is required for the Achievement Tell Me A Tale.

Rare enough for Nerubians to show up as the main enemy of the island, add on top of that how incredibly rare this Rare itself is... the Dev that designed this quest to ONLY drop off said Rare is a bloody sadistic person... seriously sick to death of Island Expeditions, the Dev has absolute zero concept of wtf burn out is!

Edit -- Finally showed up. After having done an absolute ton of Heroic/Mythic Runs with a premade group, switching to Normal it was up on the first normal run. Absolutely disgusting spawn rate...

This week we had Nerubians in Skittering Hollow and I obtained the item. This item was my last of the two items I was missing.
Words can not describe my resentment for the Tell Me A Tale achievement.

Since the criteria for getting some of the other items are still vague people say Vorus'arak's Carapace is one of the "easier" ones to find because it is well known/confirmed that it drops from Vorus'arak , so your only goal is to find the rare. However, I found my journey to obtain the item quite frustrating. I did about 100+ island runs in 4 days and 30+ runs of Skittering Hollow until I found Vorus'arak. Most probably some of my brain cells died in the process.

Here's some tips that might help some poor lost soul who is after the achievement, I'm going to state even the obvious stuff:

1. Vorus'arak has a chance to appear when Nerubians invade an island which can only happen if they are the enemy of the week, meaning you can't spam random islands hoping they invade if they are not 1 of the 3 active enemies that week. They can only appear as enemies of Skittering Hollow.

2. Which enemy appears as enemy of the week is random, there's no rotation or criteria. This means that it might take months for Nerubians to appear, which was the case for me this year.

3. Immediately when the island expedition begins if Vorus'arak is not up he won't appear later in that run.

4. Vorus'arak and Nerubians in general can only appear in the pit / left area of Skittering Hollow. Don't bother search the forest part of the island.

6. Each run inside the pit I spammed the macro:
/tar Vorus'arak

7. Doing islands in Shadowlands means that you can only do random normal / heroics because there are no pug groups for mythics anymore, unless of course you have friends willing to spam mythics with you or you can try discord. Also I don't know how mythic islands look like after the 9.0 scaling.

8. Doing random islands I would most of the time be matched with low level folks who were most of the time new players and had no idea what they were doing. It is cute but also means you would probably need to finish the whole island on your own.

9. Reading this comment helped me very, very much. Basically: if you get island A that means the next time you queue on the same difficulty you would either get island B or C. To counter this you switch difficulties normal / heroic every time you are put in Skittering Hollow and you will have a 1/3 chance to get Skittering Hollow again on the new difficulty.

10. Listening to podcasts / chill playlists on Spotify helped me preserve my sanity in the process of doing the islands.

Skittering Hollow with NERUBIANS Available this Reset on EU 01/11/2023

Best Method for me: Do 1 Normal Private (That is not Skittering Hollow); Than just Queue, Normal Privates which will cycle between Skittering Hollow, and the other Island you haven't done;

When you're in Skittering Hollow just spam a macro ( /tar Vorus'arak ); he will allways be in the pit area, if he isn't there right of the start, just leave instance and requeue; 1/2 chance it will be Skittering Hollow again.

Got my item in about 30 minutes of trying. Good luck
