Good change in my opinion, but the whole ilvl issue always makes me wonder why they don't take a page out of FFXIV's book and make each new endgame activity have their own power progression mechanic. It would honestly solve several problems - ability bloat/pruning. level creep, power level creep, and the abandonment/preservation of old content.
every time they do a stat squish it makes them look incompetent, like they haven't solved the problem yet? it's been years and we just endlessly end up in the same loop of bad decisions that put us here originally. wish they'd finally sort their crap out so we wouldn't have to deal with the constant backslide of losing player power and player levels.
It's great to see that, after all these years, Blizzard is still doing Blizzard things!
Nurf doesnt matter, the effort myt raiding is just too high. Who cares if gear is few ilvl lower? And why? Why should we run higher than 16 if there is nothing for it. Or do you go raiding with only 10 people to make it more exciting?
Can't wait for another stat squish at the end of the expansion
What I don't like is the idea to be forced into mythic raiding in order to be able to efficiently push high M+ keys. I personally don't enjoy raiding, first reason being the fixed timing requirement for anything above LFR. And then second, this type of 20+ people mess essentially feels like a "Simon says" type of game.Maybe that's just me but I feel a lot more involved and required to do my job in a high M+ key.But again that's just me. I don't pretend it's how the game should be.I just enjoy pushing M+ keys with pugs as high as I can, whenever I feel like it.The idea that to be able to do that efficiently would require me to raid just annoys me.This season I was lacking a bit compared to mythic raiders but that still was alright. Now to push higher keys, it seems that raiding gear will definitely be a requirement. That will still depend on how much you can upgrade a piece of vault gear at max though. But again that is just me and how I enjoy playing the game...
this is such a terrible idea, the ilvl bloat is already way way WAY out of control.
Sure feels great to spend whole patch grinding gear to be reduced in power to the level of fresh character in the next season.Everyone talking so much about gearing being too easy and making it harder is good for the game. But at this point at makes me doubt investing so much time and efforts is worth it when having best gear doesn't even gaurantee you smooth start in the next season.
Great news.I've been raiding with a casual group this expansion, clearing out normal, before moving onto heroic. We've been getting our AotC, pre-nerfs, but the last bosses are definitely challenging. They are pretty damn punishing, especially if you're carrying some weak links. And the gear from heroic is an absolute dumpster fire.Unless you are doing high m+, or mythic raiding...Normal gear IS THE SAME ITEMLEVEL AS ANYTHING YOU GET FROM DOING HEROIC.That is just absolutely unacceptable.
me like big numbers
Great, so everything from the current patch is going to be completely useless and can be thrown away. What's the point of grinding anything if nothing is worth carrying over into the next level of content? Not to mention how awful this makes the first weeks of every new patch, where you're struggling to get back to a halfway decent level of gear while dealing with the massively inflated stats of enemies. Doesn't even matter in what kinda content you're playing, suddenly facing enemies that have double or triple (or more..) the health and damage of what you're used to while you're still in your old gear is just an overall bad experience.
I feel like this is the opposite to what they should be doing.Always sucks when you replace your mythic gear with normal / low end heroic stuff just because the ilvl is so big, even if it's undesirable secondaries. Also makes it all the more crippling if you don't get lucky and get a weapon / trinket early on since the gap is so huge.I agree with some comments in here saying that gearing was too easy last tier, but their reasoning is for it is bizzare to me. It had nothing to do with gear from the previous tier carrying over and everything to do with the upgrade system being too lucrative. The problem wasn't people wearing good gear from the previous tier, it was that the new tiers gear was so easy to craft / upgrade heroic to mythic ilvl.People always want upgrades, even if it's minor. People used to throw a hissyfit over titanforging adding a few ilvls. An item not having a socket was seen as a great injustice etc. You don't need crazy ilvl gaps between tiers to make people want the gear. The people who care about minmaxing their characters will want to minmax it regardless of if it's a 7ilvl gap or a 17ilvl gap.
the constant ilvl increases are why a lot of people have no interest coming back to WoW. these used to happen once per expansion, now its mulltiple times. a silly hamster wheel.
This is a bad change. This is the exact reason my we no longer play World of Warcraft and instead play Patch of Warcraft. This is the deletion of content.
