I don't like it but I guess I'm not the target audience anymore.... I always like the PvP aspect of the game and the feeling of Alliance / Horde divide. But the game is mostly nostalgy for me anyway so one more thing that I will remember as being in the "good old days".
Why is there no video? Would be nice to SEE Ion Hazzikostas say all that, also why does this interview feel so fake it's like Ion selected the questions before they started... Noting about the huge lag of updates, the stuff going on behind the scenes.....And if the publication is going down on both sizes so much that they need make this change or merge the servers....
“It's not all that different from previous server restrictions either - some players may bemoan the loss of server identity, but in a world where Battle.net friends, Communities, and Discord have eroded the traditional barriers of communication, being restricted to your server quickly is just a pointless hinderance.“I’m sorry but Classic proves this isn’t true. At least up until very recently. The loss of server communities is a genuine tragedy. At least in the form of cross realm zones and the like.
Anyone who says this change shouldn't be made: you don't have to group with the other faction. Just let people have fun how they want, ok?
good thing its opt-in then. you dont have to participate in it.
I was stoked for an ACTUAL faction war when BfA was announced, but that was scrapped almost immediately and we went right back to teaming up. So if the squabbles we had in BfA are what these writers see as an all out faction war, I'd rather we go forward this direction. Not my preferred direction, I miss the real Red v Blue, Horde v Alliance feelings I used to see... but the false hope for it returning was awful.
The article feels like lip service. Blizzard is bleeding players and has a hive of bees around it. I think the elephant in the room is that both factions are losing players and the last thing they want is the feeling of having no one to play with. They're going to blend faction player pools so groups still get filled. What's more likely? They're doing this because they want to put a stop-gap in dwindling player retention or because they've suddenly had a philosophical shift from something they said was a pillar of the game not even a year ago?If it's the latter, I want their reliance on borrowed power systems to go also.
i just want cross-faction (and crossrealm) mail between my own characters that is not locked strictly to account bound items. that way i can send my horde characters bags from my alliance tailor
"*grunt-grunt* It's not WarCraft anymore *grunt* They are destroying our beloved faction divide for teh lulz *grunt*"Have you seen the real world lately? The Mafia and the government hunted nazies in paralell and/or together during the WWII.Arsenal and Tottenham fans has fought side-by-side to liberate the Falklands. The ISIS has been beaten from each and every side for a reason.Were/are they happy puppy friends before or after? Nope, not at all. There is US and there are THEM… pst! … but take a look at THOSE there, we both hate THOSE amirite? This slow and partial implementation could be the best to balance game mechanics needs and faction sentiments.Cross-faction raid groups, mythic groups and arena groups are fine, because there is a common cause.CF guilds... okay, fine, whatever. After all who says that only the Argent Dawn, Cenarion Circle, Darkmoon Faire, Kirin Tor, Earthen Ring, Anglers could hang together? I really don't care if there will be several "unofficial/fanon cooperation groups" besides the officially acknowledged ones.Blind traditionalists can be such a PitA sometimes. Any time. Every time.
Instead of faction binding races, follow in the footsteps of the enlightened Panderen following the Cataclysm, and let each character choose their faction. Now is the perfect time to implement this into the story line, with both sides committing atrocities against each other like we have never seen before, and not all citizens being happy with the actions of their leaders. This approach would require much less lore erasure and retconning, and would each the systematic burden of change. It would further more able to be built into the story line more naturally to feel more like an organic progression rather than bringing out the retcon hammer and destroying a history that is held in such reverence by those who have lived it. They can keep the "Allianz v. Horde" flavour that a percentage of the player base like, but updated to a modern interpretation of the classic ideology, which can later be further revised to completely remove factions if it feels right at a future time.
Perfectly could’ve done this right after Legion but they had to gen*cide the night elves first <3 nice timingIn all seriousness, I really wish they had done this earlier, but after what happened in BfA, it just irks me to play with hordies, pity there’s no time machine and that they’re going to be focusing less on faction war, which means the plots they introduced in that HORRID expansion will most likely never be resolved. Good change still tho, hopefully people enjoy it and make use of it.
Terrible changes
Cross faction works in private servers pretty well.
this was a good choice. Now Spend some time and fix the Auction house properly. Remove limiters and make the AH faster not slower.
Go home dude, your days in that company are over for you. You create enough @#$% around and we saw your vision about the game... fare well...
