Would like a full support spec, but they've pretty clearly stated they're not adding another spec
So it's a tank spec that does almost no DPS and instead provides that DPS to their allies. That's literally the only way to balance it but honestly, it could work. We don't really *need* it but I can see them wanting to travel that path.
Where's ranged demon hunter fighting with fel spells only? But it sounds like a bard class or smgh
It'll never work. It'll either be too broken or too weak. If they tried to make it do near zero damage but could buff & heal and the buffs were enough to carry the dps in a 5 man, then it'd be worthless in raids, etc. The game just is too focused on meta dps pewpew gogo builds already that a buff build would not be viable or would be mandatory.
Got High hopes for tank spec of Evoker!
Hahahaha all these meta slaves thinking this can't work. How valuable is power infusion? How valuable is Bloodlust? If you know the answer to these very easy questions.. then why would you think a support spec can't work? Because a content creator hasn't told you it could yet? Wait a few days. Someone will upload your next opinion soon.
Replace tanks with a support class
Sure would be fun.But it is either OP as hell and basically mandatory in every content or completly useless. In raid? Buff 20 people at once. HUGE. In Arena or M+... its boni need to completly replace a DD or Healer which means the bonus would be ridicioulus in Raids if it buffs people enough in 5 man to replace ONE person. If all the boni he gets are only affecting 1-5 people it could work.Damage he does himself is irrelevant. Healers don't do much damage and don't need to anyway. In Open world you should switch to another spec.
Just because adding a new spec it's something they have never done before doesn't mean they can't.They have never done anything like empowered spells before DF and here they are
I would be very happy to have a supporter. I would play this one too, as I love to give up damage or healing to support the group. But many won't see it that way, I don't think it will work that easily. Yes the good guilds and groups will understand how important this support is for their group. But in all other groups, depending on the alignment, you will be flamed for not doing enough damage/healing. This will deter many from wanting to play the char for a long time. I would actually prefer a heal support, but that would only work if it can boost heal and damage. I can cope with not being at the top in heal or damage. For many, however, that is exactly the attraction of the game. But you can see how it works in many games (Overwatch, Lost Ark, Blade & Soul). But the problem I see is that with other games it has always been like this or after a short time that there was support. It's never been like that with wow, and unfortunately people are creatures of habit. I'm afraid, even if it sounds stupid, some people are too stupid to check what job a good support has and how important it is. I am very curious and somehow hope that the support Evoker will come.
A support role sounds good until you ask yourself where you would fit it in a 5 man comp. In raids you can see them having a ton of value. In BG's too. But smaller group content? Why take a support over a healer, tank or DPS?
City of Heroes had the Controller role: it played around buffing your allies (increase damage/attack speed/movement speed/resistances) while debuffing your enemies (roots, stuns, decrease damage/resistance, etc).Maybe Blizzard is testing the waters to add a "Support" role similar to what they did in Heroes of the Storm.
.
I don't think a pure support class would work in WoW. Something that does less dmg but can boost other peoples dmg and cc mobs could work but it has to do at least ele sham level of dmg on its own, it can't just take a dps spot and do nothing.
