The Darkmoon Faire part was really interesting, I didn't realise the fish are so lucrative. I plan to farm more gold in BoA, so might be a good start. I also had a Darkmoon Rabbit years ago and sold it for only 10k gold. Thanks for another great weekly post!
I prefer to pay my subscription with WoW tokens. I don't have anything particular in-game that I would buy (well, maybe except completing Redemption set on Black Market, but that appears once in a blue moon and even then I wait for when it's not damn pricey), so I just spend it on more playing time. I have this "luck" on being on EU server. For now I'm able to keep up with token prices and still get nice monthly spare. I think my breaking point would be 600-700k, but it all depends on how prices of other items evolve as well.
Thought the comment about "Pretty/Neat posting" was quite correct. Posting in sizes that suit what people are using matts for can definitely warrant a higher than base price.
I rarerly take part in darkmoon faire. Having all mounts and many pets from there. Sometimes I go there with my low-levels.
I repost maybe once a day, sometimes more frequently if I have time. Unfortunately I'm in quite a saturated market, so the more I undercut, the more other people undercut, and the price tanks. Much as I rely on TSM to check for undercuts, it's a good idea to to manual checks, too. I've often seen my stuff get undercut for something posted at 50% or less, and if I just followed the click-click recommendations, I'd be grossly undervaluing my item. Instead, buying the stupidly cheap thing and reposting that at my original item's cost winds up just as likely for me to sell one, and I've already got a second running rather than having to source mats for the restock.I think market diversity isn't really something to get hung up on. I pretty much exclusively do leather working, but within that you have your mog items, your twinked 110 epics, your consumables... As long as you have something that's a stable seller, then some high ticket items that you might have to post for a while before seeing a return, and keep your stocks running when they turn over, you don't need to be grinding up other characters for other markets. Chances are, if your profession is flooded with competition, so too are the others; population is population. Just as long as you have a good split between reliable sales and higher risk/return goods, and don't get down if that super rare mog item doesn't sell for a month, you'll see it long term.
I have been visiting the Darkmoon Faire every month, though I have never used it to make gold. My favorite game is Whack-a-Gnoll!
I used to farm gold to pay my subscription with the it, but it's not worth anymore. 150k was the best spot but at 300k+, not at all.
I definitely contributed hugely to Token prices.Sunk millions and millions of gold into it.I am using 12 alts that have been farming the Order Hall missions since release.I still post on AH frequently, but it is not my main source of income.Unfortunately, most of my inventory is unobtainables items and pets that do not sell very often.Pet market is slow for the most part, but everything will sell eventually.
I was never the economical analyst so i just keep posting my failed auctions back until they are sold.I use alchemy and alchemy alone for my gold farm for the sub. Sometimes i get as much as 80k a day which was insane the first time i did. But sometimes the pots go unsold the two whole days they are in the AH. I'm new to retail and i play just one char for now but i manage to get the gold for the sub. But looks like it wont be the case come BFA. The token price just keeps going skyward. Never really liked having 10 other chars whom i barely play just for gold's sake. But looks like that will be the case in a few months.
Always interesting to read these articlesNot finding darkmoon faire transmogs sell for much on my realm so not done that muchI have bought tokens which got me the expansion free, to me at least so that has been goodThe ideas here are useful to consider but I don't do allOrder hall gold making has been good along with some profession items like enchants and gear, they however don't make large amounts.I played the AH in vanilla and tbc as it was a lot harder to make gold just playing but now it is definitely easier if you have time to play.
Honestly, I think the price of WoW tokens will spike with the initial release of the expansion, due to everyone who has gone casual or quit because they dont want to grind out whats left of Legion. I remember when Legion was announced, I went dark for several months, then I personally bought a token to come back. Several guildies did the same.I also think the AH will spike in price for the first several months like it always does with the release of an expansion and having new mats. It won't be as bad, with profression realm firsts being taken out of the game, but it will still be quite a good market for those with the gathering skills.LETS JUST ALL BE THANKFUL HONORBUDDY IS DEAD AND GONE SO BFA CAN BE A BOT FREE AMAZING EXPANSION!
Unfortunately I' didn't get an invite to the Beta and i hope i'll get one soon.Of course and I have a Garrison Auction House, garrison is my quite place in the game, I even do the missions.I have bought time from tokens for the next 9 months when the token was under 300k. Generally I think of buying a token when i have 4 times the gold from the price of a token.Gumdrops, you should do an article for the huge price difference between the EU and US token. I know you had references before but not a complete article including the prospective and the opinion from Blizzard. Also if someone make two new identical characters one at US server and an other EU, giving the same effort in both trying to get as much gold. Which one will have more gold after 2-3 month after they hit 110lvl just using the AH and the same professions? An other question I have for this difference is if the Blizzard sees that as a problem?
I would probably pay a maximum of about 300k maybe 350k for a token to pay for game time. But I have also bought tokens for the gold but usually not on my main server where I make most of my money.I repost alot of the time due to not undercutting enough trying to keep higher profits. I cover items in tailoring and engineering sometimes a bit in jewelcrafting but need to work on leveling other professions to a more profitable level.I try to participate in the darkmoon fair everytime around but trying to make money from it has caused trepidation since being temp banned for economic manipulation in the past.
My cap on WoW token is measured more by time spent, so it grows according to gold inflation per expansion. I play WoW to relax and not to work, so if I need to spend half my game time farming gold to buy a token, then its definitely not worth it to me.
It's pretty stupid how token price spikes up more and more each time new patch hits up or when BFA pre order released. They should rly make cap on how much it can go up, EU prices are stupid. NA is much better. And maybe add some expensive mounts, transmogs or etc for those who're rich to sink their gold :D
When I was still not fond of farming gold, I got a Darkmoon Rabbit. And in the end I sold it, and then I regretted it. Because there are things that are valuable in themselves, and Darkmoon Rabbit is one of them.
On one hand the WoW tokens are ideal for people with lower income: They can simply make enough gold in-game to pay for their game time. On the other hand, with the quickly inflating prices: Why would I spend many hours of arguably less enjoyable time in-game to farm enough gold to pay for my game time, if I could simply work half an hour extra in real life to pay for it?
