Level 90 talent for Monks.

I don't mean to be nitpicky, but I feel as if the other two level 90 talents should be a choice of say for example Invoke Yu'lon, the Jade Serpent and Invoke Niuzuo, the Black Ox as it would be fitting as those are the other two August Celestials that are involved with the other talent trees (Mistweaver and Brewmaster) as Xuen himself is involved with Windwalker monks? Am I the only one who feels this? :P

the Damage done by this ability procs Eminence Healing for Mistweavers, and benefits from Windwalkers' damage bonus, but it does not seem to synergize in any special way for Brewmaster as far as I can tell. Although there is no harm in having a good 3-min DPS cooldown as a tank. And it may count as damage necessary to proc Ox Statues passive guard effect with protects injured raid members with an absorption shield.

Your stats are snapshotted when you cast Xuen, meaning you should time it with heroism/potions/trinket procs if possible for best results.

With high Vengeance, BM monks will have a really mean kitty.

edit: safe to use on any boss in MSV as Brewmaster monk.

*Xuen will not taunt the bosses thus won't rotate them
*Xuen will prefer orbs and adds instead of boss on Elegon encounter.
*Xuen will not tank boss while you deal with adds outside the ring on Elegon encounter, it still requires a player tank to be in melee range.

.. It is imo the best talent in this tier for an extra damage. Rushing Jade Wind is better for fights with multiple adds because it gives shuffle.

Also: Why am I down-rated? Can some of these random guys with no idea post the evidence of the opposite of what i said?

Quick notes about Xuen.

He snapshots your stats when summoned, so always try to summon him directly after on use trinkets/tigereye brew, lust/timewarp, etc. He seems to scale extremely well under these conditions, becoming a real menace when buffed since he maintains those stats for his entire duration.

Xuen also comes equipped with his own personal Tiger's Lust for breaking roots and a 40yd leap for re-engaging targets when his master switches.

My favorite burst comes when catching someone in a tiger powered FoF while Xuen is beating on the target, very very dangerous, and I've seen few monks leverage this burst.

Xuen don't take a snapshot of your stats. The domage is based on your current AP, that mean he will gain benefit of your AP even if you take an agility potion after you summon him. He only scale with your AP that mean Rising sun kick, tiger palm debuff and tigereye brew don't have any impack on he's domage.

Note: Bloodlust work on him but you need to summon him before BL is cast.

You can test this by removing your weapon and trinket on a dummy and take the potion after you summon Xuen an look at he's domage.

It's better to use potion and trinket after you summon him so he take advantage of the full duration of your buff.

Can anyone confirm it won't taunt off of the bosses in The Stone Guard? I've been afraid to test it because we wouldn't be able to rotate the bosses if he's holding aggro.

Some tips:

You can't summon him if you dont have an enemy target
You can't summon him if your enemy target is out of sight
You cant' summon him if your enemy target out of range
~~Even if you can summon him, he will not attack target before you hit target~~ (Now Xuen has pet control bar)
All his attacks and lightning deals nature damage.
His lightning AOE breaks some CC like Paralysis
He can be CCed (for example: he can stand in hunter traps instead of you)
His damage scale from your Attack Power, try summon him under maximum burst buffs.

And he looks cool 8)

Be aware that when Xuen is taunting (as Brewmaster) the target will turn around as Xuen always attacks from the back (non-raid bosses that is). Be careful with frontal cone attacking bosses and make sure your melee is aware.

Since he snapshots your stats I'm assuming you guys don't use him immediately after a boss pull? Do you wait til you get a 10 stack of tb at the very least? I've been summoning him immediately, I thought any procs and such after he was summoned he automatically picked up?

I never see it mentioned, but Xuen's cooldown will automatically reset after raid combat ends (wipe or kill) regardless of how long you have left on his timer.

Xuen is really useful when tanking challenge dungeons. Not only does he give you a DPS burst on tricky trash packs but he'll tank one of the mobs smashing your face. Combine with Paralysis and Leer of the Ox and that pack of 5 elites just got a lot easier.

i usually have this problem that i end up with the FC without a dps killing the incoming

i KNOW chi torpedo is the talent for MW - but would it be viable to use this tiger to help dps/offheal if m sitting in a cc without a trinket for example? or not worth it?

How do you pronounce Xuen?
Xuen is not standard Chinese orthography (Pinyin).

My guess is that it is either two words: Xu En (pronounced /ɕü ən/)
Or a mispelled variant of Xuan (pronounced /ɕywɛn/ )

As of this time on the PTR for 5.4 Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger has been given a pet action bar like that of a hunter or warlock. I'm interested to see how this will affect its use. As a leveling Brewmaster who has tanked before I'm interested to see if timing this spell with a Boss ability that requires a tanks swap would allow you to BOP stacks like a Paladin can.
Obviously we would not have the ability to do so as often as a Prot Paladin would but still I'm exited for the change.

Small note for Mistweavers:

Xuen actually can be used as a raid wide healing cooldown.

Just place your Summon Jade Serpent Statue (to where ranged stays) and stay at the range of 20 yards to people.

Because it's damage triggers eminence healing too (50% damage to healing from eminence, 50% damage to healing from eminence statue) up to total 120% percent .. (additional 20% percent comes with ) I don't know it is a bug or something since only 25% ability damage triggers eminence by monk. But Xuen has more.

Also you know It doesn't need to channel or something. Just release it to the boss or mobs and while tiger strikes, people will be healed and you can use your other abilities while Xuen healing people. Summon and forget.

Small tip: While fighting againts multiple mobs Xuen will cast tiger lightning, which can strike up to 3 targets means more healing.

I was trying to find a list of all the minions and guardians available to players through spells, talents and glpyhs (not from items) and ended up creating one.
Hope this is useful for others as well.

Death Knight:

Geist - Minor glyph that changes the appearance of the Ghoul to that of a Geist.

As a Brewmaster, Xuen can be extremely useful as a temporary off-tank whenever you find yourself taking too much damage from too many mobs. He'll gladly take some of them off of you! The fact that he'll have as much health as you is also very handy.

In case anyone else is interested, a macro to summon both Xuen and his cub, Xu-Fu:

#showtooltip Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
/cast Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
/summonpet Xu-Fu, Cub of Xuen

If Xu-Fu is already out, it will dismiss him. To keep them in sync, you can hit macro again with no target or while Xuen is on cooldown to dismiss the cub.

100% Health, 100% AP, 100% Armor. (Oh, and I haven't been mentioning it but it's safe to assume 100% Haste/Crit/Versatility/Dodge/Parry on all pets unless I say otherwise)

Xuen, Chi-Ji, and Niuzao are all the same, with one exception: Niuzao gets 400% Armor.
