If you have trouble finding Mack Diver like I did; he is actually outside of the town fence. I was able to get the quest at 305 engineering but didn't try to get it prior.

u can find Steam Pump Part in the place called the dead mire at 80,40

a stretchy loop = rubber band
a parchment clamp = a paper clip
a guzzle tube = a straw
and of course
some sticky duck ribbon = duck tape

Only MacGuyver sould turn those into a nuclear reactor

with the new patch (2.3) these parts now "sparkle" so they are VERY easy to see :D

Seems like it's bugged at the moment. I gathered ten Steam Pump parts and suddenly i couldn't loot them. I abandoned the quest a went back to Zabra'jin to accept it, flew swiftly back and found out i still couldn't pick them up. Anyone else with this problem?

4x Primal Life
1x Delicate Arcanite Converter (1x Arcanite Bar, 1x Ironweb Spider Silk)

*1x Arcanite Bar = 1x Thorium Bar + 1x Arcane Crystal

Mats in total broke down

8x Fel Iron Bars (or 16x Fel Iron Ore)
4x Primal Life (or 40x Mote of Life)
1x Thorium Bar
1x Arcane Crystal
1x Ironweb Spider Silk

(tip: It wont be hard to find some1 to transmute the Arcanite Bar, since there is no Cooldown on it since patch 2.4)

Hi. I'm Level 70 right now and have 365 Skill in Engineering but I can't get this Quest. I aborted this Quest while leveling ans wanted to accept this later in the game.
Can this be the Problem?

Mack Diver is a troll just outside the east gate at Zabra'jin.

The quest is fairly easy, go to the Dead Mire (north-east corner of zangermarsh) and collect steam pump parts lying on the ground. Their easy to spot, as they sparkle like loot.

This quest took me about 5 minutes, including flight time to and from the dead mire on an epic flyer.

From start to finish, including time taken search for info, it took me roughly 1 hour and 60g to get my Zapthrottle Mote Extractor.

Just a note: this will extract 'crystals' if used in Northrend. Steam Clouds yield Crystalized Fire and Crystalized Water.

I think I completed this quest before, but I dropped engineering. Now I've picked it back up but I can't find the quest, is there any way to fix this? I already talked to the quest giver and he has nothing to offer.

If you want an additional way to get motes of air
Storming Wind-Ripper still has a high drop rate.

this is for the horde version of the quest. Alliance you goto a different npc K Lee Smallfry at 69.50 in zangermarsh.

Not having ENG since BC, I hadn't realised that they changed the way you can suck up gas clouds. It seems now you need to do the quest in Zangamarsh to be able to make the item yourself.

As a Horde player:
Bring 15 Steam Pump Parts to Mack Diver (just outside the fence) at Zabra'jin in Zangarmarsh.

Be aware the item is unique so before I managed to complete the quest and make it, a friend loaned me his.

To save a bit of time, have the mats ready so you can make the extractor straight away.

1x Delicate Arcanite Converter
4x Primal Life

Description

The swamp gas is truly amazing, and can be very useful, mon! But first, you gotta be able to suck it up, and that, my friend, requires a Zapthrottle Mote Extractor.

Now, I could just give you the schematics, but I'll need something in return first. How about some spare parts? Last time I checked, there were plenty lying around near the broken steam pump at the Dead Mire, far to the northeast.

I heard that the withered giants spread the pieces all over that dried-out lake bed.
