You're looking for Hungry Gromlets. Approach them carefully, or they will get "startled and run away", and toss them the food to get their attention. Then get closer to feed them 3 to 6 more times til they are "fed, happy and grateful". You'll have to do this with SIX individual Hungry Gromlets. While feeding them you'll also have to fight hungry animals trying to eat them. Try to down them quickly or the Gromlet will "lose interest" and de-spawn.

How to do Think of the Critters:

accept the quest
go to around /way 52 38
use Korthian Treat on Hungry Gromit to get the debuff Wary
go to near Hungry Gromit and use the Extra Button that will appear until complete the progress bar Offer Treat
do it on 6 critters and return the quest

When you use the Extra Button Offer Treat have a chance to spawn a mob, just kill him and continue.

Update: Since this comment was posted some fixes where made that makes it less tedious of a chore. Critters are now less likely to run away when you feed them and other players passing by while feeding them no longer causes them to run away.

This quest is an convoluted mess.

What you're supposed to do is:

Throw food using the quest item at a distance to get the critter's attention (get too close and the creature runs away).
Once you have the critter's attention (noticable by the Wary debuff), get a bit closer until you see a action button
Keep throwing food using the action button (about 4-8 times till the bar is filled up)
While doing so kill any mobs that appear as quickly as possible before the critter runs away (killing the mobs also advances the bar a bit)

But the randomness of the timing when the critters run away make this a very convoluted and tedious endavour.
The distance at which they are scared away also seems to vary a bit, and sometimes they are scared away by other players running past the critter you are trying to feed.

Another very badly designed Korthia quest to add to the already pretty long list

Seems like whoever made this quest only tested it on a empty server. The critters get scared away way too easily and after a few minutes of trying I really cant be bothered with this quest as it's only a bit of rep. Hopefully there will be a hotfix to sort this quest out

If you are already feeding the critter with the extra button and another player runs nearby, the critter will run away...nice quest design. Having so much fun.
Also if you have the missfortune that at every offer treat a mob to kill will spawn (you can't use the extra button if in combat) , the critter will lose interest and run away...

Coming online and seeing the General chat for Korthia as they speak about this quest made me want to do it at an hour whenever there aren't anyone online.

And apparently, other players can scare them away. Intentional or accidental. that just a stupid oversight and really hope they fix it.

This quest was available today in Live - sadly I couldn't find a guide for this on Wowhead Live, I thought I'd share a tip here I came up with to get this done, without spending 5 hours trying to complete it:

Once you have got to the point where a critter is fixated on you and you are able to feed it by targeting it and clicking the action button they give you, a creature will periodically spawn to attack the critter, which will put you in combat and will therefore prevent you from clicking said action button until the creature dies.

This usually results in the critter running away from you whilst you kill the creature, however, I found that you are still able to throw food to the critter using the reticle-style targeting button that appears in your quest log, even whilst in combat. So by throwing food at the critter on cooldown using said button, whilst killing the creature and then returning to the targeted-action button feeding method as soon as the creature dies, you have a much greater success rate.

This quest is still absolute garbage, don't get me wrong, but it's certainly dooable in 10 minutes or so when using this method.

If anyone is interested in doing this quest, as opposed to just reading "quest sucks" comments...

The critters you want are small and glowy.
Get just close enough to reach critter using quest button (the one next to the quest in the log). This causes the critter to fixate on you and not run away (it'll stop and face you if you got it right). If you go any closer than the quest's action's range the critters runs away and despawns.
Once fixated, move closer, target critter and use extra action button (not quest action button, icon is the same though). This puts a progress bar. You have to do this 5-7x to get credit.
Usually a Razorwing will spawn and prevent you from using the extra action button after 1-2x. Use the quest button again to keep critter fixated. Not sure how often you need to do this but I did it on CD. Simultaneously kill the Razorwing. When it dies, go back to using the extra action button until the progress bar fills up. Sometimes more than one Razorwing will spawn before the bar is full.

How to do this quest:
1. Accept quest
2. Abandon quest immediately
3. Celebrate that you didn't spend your time spouting profanities for a small amount of rep

This is a terrible design for a quest or it's just buggy as hell.

The idea is to feed the little grommit and let it "get full" by spamming your extra action button (toss treats).

It sounds easy enough, however, they will disappear if you get too close, they will disappear if someone runs near it while you are trying to get closer, they disappear when the razorwings come down, or they just disappear for no apparent reason.....

I spent over 45 min and never got a single one. The other issue is that as a healer I can't insta-kill the razorwings so the grommits tend to run off after two seconds. And you can't feed them while killing the razorwings so I was never able to get one full.

Everyone else has explained how to do it, so I'll just add that my success rate skyrocketed by NOT MOVING after throwing the extra action button treats. You'd think pulling the mob away from the critter would keep it from being scared away but it ain't so. Also helped to be in War Mode so there was less competition for the critters, seemed like other people could scare mine away occasionally.

As of now this does not work on my server due to it being a full server, and other players are being jerks and running up on you when they can clearly see you trying to do the quest. If they are able to fix it great, if not I feel that it is best to just skip this daily.

Really, really, really, broken quest. I managed to get the attention of one of the critters. Moved up close to it... no action button appeared. I tried to feed it a couple more times and got a message "the creature loses interest and runs away". Feh. As others have said, abandon the quest and ignore it. It's stupid and broken as hell.

I'm going to compile all the information from other comments here. This quest is fairly temperamental, sensitive and easy for other people to troll you accidentally (they don't know better or they are running to get a rare in time) or deliberately. However once you 'get' it is fairly fast and quick. I went from fumbling for 10 minutes to finishing this and getting 5 critters in less than 5 minutes (might be a 2-3 minute quest if there weren't high traffic zones).

Pre-Reqs: Outline mode (from graphics settings), Extra Action Button, Quest button (or drag quest item to your action bar)

1) Find a small critter / gromit - it will be outlined white and is pretty small like a critter.

2) Don't run up to it, mount up to it or get even remotely close to it. As far away as possible use your quest item and aim the reticule on it. Other people can troll you by running into the critter despawning it but it will spawn back in a few minutes or in the other spawn points.

3) Once successfully hit with the Quest item, you will get a 30s debuff and you can move closer (don't run to it), inch closer till your Extra Action Button appears, target the critter and use it (if it helps set the critter on focus). Click it repeatedly on CD, you need about 5-7x clicks to finish this. Don't move or run around closer, you'll scare the critter and it will despawn.

4) Sometimes a Razorwing will spawn. Your Extra Action Button will gray out since you are in combat, but you still need to use the QUEST item (the one you aim) to keep the critter fixated or it will 'lose interest' and despawn. You can last the entire 30s debuff this way. Also don't move when the Razorwing spawns else you might scare the critter and it can despawn.

5) You'll get 0-2 Razorwings, kill them (remember don't move or fidget or get closer to the critter) but keep the quest item hitting the critter on CD, and once you're done killing the Razorwing, go back to using the Extra Action Button on the critter till it is cared for and you get your tick.

6) Do this sequence 5 more times.

I don't mind the quest. Just lax some of the requirements and sensitivity and this would be a decent change of pace. The 'lose interest' or 'get too close at any point and the critter runs away' can easily be removed and you can take out the troll element at the same time since that aspect is causing most amount of problems for everyone.

As a mage, you can use invisible when the first mob appears and still click the additional treat button to finish feeding the critter. Even if another mob spawns, it does not aggro and you can continue to feed the critter uninterrupted.

Otherwise, quest was difficult and annoying to complete.

I get everyone's frustration with this quest. It's time consuming and annoying when you fight 3 mobs only to have the critter lose interest or another player run by and scare it away. BUT, if you're hanging out in Korthia anyway while waiting for rares and treasures to spawn, then it's a low key way to fill the time.

Ok This QUest using nice words weird xD.

Ok First find Hungry Gromit they are marked, don't come to close to them xD they can scare and despawn xD. First throw Korthian Treat on ground next to them if You will get debuff Wary if not you can start look for new Hungry Gromit xd.

After that You will get coming closer extra bar use it but you need to mark Hungry Gromit Evry throw blue bar will get to full but as well every throw can spawn Scavenging Razorwing killing them is making blue bar up to.

When you fight with Scavenging Razorwing better dont move xD Hungry Gromit are very sensitive xD they can run out ;/. as well i think You can do it in party :).

This is an easy quest .
1) Once you find a Hungry Gromit , click on your Korithian Treat until you are close enough to throw it and toss one to it .
2) It will get a red box on it that says...food?
3 ) slowly move towards it and a box will show up on your screen with a red dot in the corner, move closer till it turns white.
4 ) feed it till a red NPC shows up and kill it WITHOUT MOVING !
5) click on it again and feed it till its 100% or NPC shows up and repeat 4...
6) I say don't move because in many cases when i went forward or backwards the Gromit vanished .

I have a working theory on this quest.

It has a double meaning: when we're thinking of the downtrodden (the critters), it is a metaphor for the horrible working conditions that Blizzard's staff have had to deal with. I would like to think that somewhere, there is an activist developer who's making quests like these to drive subscribers like me away from the game, so this horrible company has a reckoning, and starts treating their women employees like actual human beings.

It has worked. I've canceled my membership and am letting my time expire. I'll return if and when there are consequences for those in the C-Suite who allowed this culture to manifest, and someone is brought in who will ensure it never happens again.

Reports of a toxic culture with public drunkenness and sexual harassment does not sound like an ideal environment for making an enjoyable game. And I can't enjoy it any more.

I realize this working theory has no roots in reality, but I like to **think** that something like this is being done intentionally, for the good of the world. Because the alternative is just baffling.

After reading the comments, I was expecting a very horrible experience. It wasn't great since nearly every critter fed resulted in 3 to 4 enemies attacking which made it tedious. One of the critters just flat out disappeared before I could feed the last treat. I never moved, no one else was nearby. It just vanished. Another one ran away before I even got near enough to do the first treat toss with the reticule.

It wasn't a great, but there are far worse quests that I've had the displeasure of doing.

Okay, so. Until this buggy mess of a quest is fixed, I found a method that works for me.

Unfortunately, it JUST works for me, YMMV.

Step one: Be a hunter. Put your pet on passive.
Step two: Be in a party with someone who stands right behind you. By being partied, they'll also get credit.
Step three: Throw the treat to the Hungry Gromit. Approach, and start feeding it. A razorwing will swoop down.
Step four: FEIGN DEATH. The Razorwing will start attacking the person behind you, you will be out of combat, and you can continue feeding the Gromit.
Step five: New Razorwings will fly down. They kept attacking my second account, a rogue who was just standing there, instead of aggroing on me. I fed the Gromit until it was full and got credit, then cleaned up the four Razorwings that had come down.

I tried doing this the other way around, having the Rogue be the lead and Vanish, but that usually caused the Gromit to run away. So...it's a very specific workaround, but it worked for me.

It's easy IF nobody trolls you. a) use the item THE FURTHEST POSSIBLE from the critter b) go near but the FURTHEST POSSIBLE until an auto-button appears and use it c) repeat.
Thing is anyone can troll you because if they walk over your critter it disappears (that probably needs fixing because while it's realistic it can be very annoying).

One of the WORST quests I've seen. Had to give up after spending too much time and getting almost nothing done. Just was NOT worth the time.

Critter would despawn ALL THE TIME when getting too close.
It would get scared off.
The damn thing would LOSE INTEREST. (You almost want to train the predators to eat the damn things at this point).

I also heard that OTHER people could scare off the critter.

Who thought this was fun? There is a difference between actually CHALLENGING and pure frustration.

So there seems to be 2 action buttons, one that throws the food for initial debuff, second to feed, my UI was hiding the second button, Once I fixed that it became super easy.

Throw first food from distance to get debuff
get close to see blue bar
hit second button if it did not replace first. one says toss other says offer food.
Keep doing step 3, and kill any mobs that appear. 3-4 feedings gets you the credit as bar fills.

Things to keep in mind, feeding won't work if in combat. Careful where you drop screeches as they can cover the critter making it a bit annoying.

So... If you really want to complete this quest, here is the guide.

Step 1: Find the Hungry Gormit critters. DON'T run over them, try to be as far as possible.

Step 2: Toss your quest item onto the critter. If you are successful, you will gain the 'Wary' debuff

Step 3: Get towards the critter until you see an extra action button. Some addons might block them (for unknown reasons). If you don't see it, disable certain addons may help.

Step 4: Keep using the button. Note that it might not be a good idea to spam the button, as sometimes it may bug out and cause you to 'waste' a press of the button. Every press fills up a blue bar. Press until the blue bar is fully filled up.

Step 4.5: Mobs may spawn every time you press the button. USE YOUR COOLDOWNS to burst the mob down as fast as possible. If you spend too much time on the mob, the critter may despawn. Big note: do not move while attacking. Running too close to the critter may despawn it too.

Step 5: Repeat this 5 more times.

So, tl;dr, this quest is a test of luck and dps, with super sensitive critters. Interesting, but poorly designed, but still do-able (painfully). Hope this helps out anyone who want to do the quest because of transmog, rep, anima, personal satisfactory, or any other reasons.

Worst. Quest. Ever.

1. Critters run away too often/too easily
2. Multiple birds attack you
3. Sometimes the treats don't count
4. WHY would you make them Gromits? There's already Gromits in the area... so it's just confusing! Add to that the same models exist under 'Nervous Gromit'...
5. Very few numbers
6. Other players can spook your critter

Never again am I doing this one.

This is a first (I've seen) recently where you have to press the action bar repeatedly. @blizzard please include necessary actions (albeit story-driven) i.e. say something to the effect you may have to offer the treat "repeatedly". This quest is not intuitive nor thoroughly explained. TY for Wowhead and help from other player contributions!

Let me put it this way, I spent 30 minutes on my server and still remained 0/6 for the quest this morning.
Got off work with my head on straight, hopped to a low pop realm, done in 10 minutes.

This quest is horrible for all the reasons people are saying...
Either don't waste your time, or go to a low pop realm and give it another try.

Today was the first time I've had this quest offered, and they must have fixed it because it wasn't as bad as I thought. Targeting the critter to feed is a little annoying, but even if the critter gets "bored" and runs off, it still counted towards my total.

I DID IT!

Managed to get the quest done after doing some research.
My problem was, that the critter despawned every time I had to fight the attacking mob.

My solution: DO NOT MOVE!
Not while feeding, not while fighting!
If you do not move, there is a good chance, the gromit will stay and the buff will stay, so you can feed it again.

This way I managed to get three of them in 4 minutes, while it took a group and nearly an hour for the other three ones beforehand.

What peeves me off about this quest is that this is the cutesy type of quest I would love to do. I love chasing critters to pet or feed them. I love cuteness. An easy solution would be to allow you to trap the beast to let you continue feeding the pet. Maybe a "Freeze Trap" action button as well for those without their own cages or hexes or pollies. Or take away the "lose interest" option.

the korthia pet tame quest is possible, just stupidly difficult:
1. throw food nearby to get it to stay
2. set focus on pet and approach pet
3. spam the special action button to feed it
4. absolutely smash any npcs that show up to eat it
Note: if you get 3 in a row its basically game over if you cant nerf them fast enough
5. focus target and spam the feed button again
REPEAT

I’ve done it twice now, without issue:

Locate target.
Dismount, and throw from max distance. You will get a debuff.
Approach critter, set focus target, begin feeding.
When a mob spawns, kill it (adds to bar). Continue feeding.
Rinse & repeat.

Note: Find an area with little foot traffic. Too many people are congregating near Consumption. They are all over the place. Find clusters, and stay there till you’re done. There’s a nice little spot at 43:50 (south of Shade) with 3 of them, and little traffic.

Mind your debuff. If it wears off, you’ll lose your critter.

I’ve shown this location to multiple people in-game via whisper, and they’ve all completed it, after having non-stop issues elsewhere, fwiw.

The problem is the critters keep running away randomly.
They spawn client side once engaged so no one can see you critter.
However it is bugged and other players can sometimes see and throw food to the critter on the node.
This will cause a new instance of the critter which breaks it.
This gives you a "lost interest" emote.
Also for some reason if any player or pet gets close to the node while the node critter is still up it will run away in fear but you will only get a "lost interest" emote.

After figuring this out I did the quest on a downtime for my shard. I got the first 5 in less than 6 minutes. Then a druid decided to troll and run around in deer form and as soon as I engaged the critter he would run over to it and it would run off. This inspired my testing on other characters.

The best way to do this is in a group as the credit shares with the group.
Get a tank to taunt and the critter guy ignores the mobs that spawn.
The tank will taunt away from critter and the DPS will nuke the mob down so critter guy can feed again. Remember don't get close to the critter.
They already run away randomly, don't want them to spook too.

I know the game is buggy but getting past bugs with others is what built lasting friendships in Vanilla through Wrath. It is a game so try to enjoy it.

I have created a spammable macro to make it easier to do this quest.

/use Korthian treat

How to use this macro:
1. Get close to a Hungry Gromit; close enough to focus target but not scare the gromit away
2. Press the macro once; just to get a focus target and to get a green circle on your mouse cursor
3. Click on the ground near gromit; the gromit is intrigued
4. Get closer until an extra action bar appears on your screen
5. Spam the macro
6. (optional) When a scavenger comes, kill it a.s.a.p!
7. Proceed to spam the macro (until bar is filled or do step 6)
8. Rinse and repeat until the quest is complete

I can't believe this quest is actually real. it actually seems like a parody quest, the exact opposite of what everyone thinks is fun.

The critters can just randomly "lose interest" mid-feeding, cancel any progress and siappear. This can even happen when the trust-debuff still has 30+ seconds left, so this is a separate mechanic.

Other Korthia quests are like "Loot 12 items" or "Interact with 6 items", "Kill 12-20 mobs".

This quest is "Find a hard-to-find NPC, walk carefully to not scare it, hit them with throwable & fill up bar, kill 2-4 mobs during that, Hope it doesnt despawn during any step in the process. "

And then repeat that 6-10 times.

With the 300 research reward, the quest would atleast be somewhat acceptable if they couldn't randomly lose interest.

They updated the quest and made several great improvements. Disregard everything above, this quest is now good considering it's reward (usually 2x150 relic fragments)

Hunters! You can cheese this quest easily.

1) Dismiss your pet(s)
2) Use the treat and get close to the critter
3) Feign death
4) Start hitting the extra action bar over and over, because you are feigned, none of the spawned creatures can attack you, and you can repeatedly hit the action bar until you "care" for the critter.

With the update there is no longer an extra action bar, while the quest is easier for everyone in general it's now a little more difficult for hunters :(

Much better than it used to be.
-The whole time you now throw the food using the quest item as opposed to an action button, then land it with a target circle.
-Several people can feed the same critter to get credit, similar to mob tagging.
-Way less of those scavenger enemies spawning while you feed it, only had 1 usually per critter.
-Critters are less likely to run away
-You can still throw the food at the critter while youre in combat

The quest appears to be significantly less irritating today. However, if you have a companion pet out that has a critter kill animation (like Creepy Crate) it WILL kill your gromit and then you will be sad.

It looks like this quest got fixed a bit.

You now have the a usable Korthian Treat in your bag. Throw it on a little glowing Hungry Gromit. You will get a progress bar over its head that shows you are 20% done.

Each time you throw a treat to the creature, you will give it one stack of a 60 second buff called Treat. Presumably the critter will despawn if its buff runs out, but this never happened to me.

The pet cannot be fed while there is an attacker, so you have 60 seconds to kill the attacker.

This is another reason why I'm glad I don't play this game that often anymore;. Luckily, from the comments, I got this quest after it was "fixed".

It's still pretty annoying, but definitely sounds better than it was.

The main thing is not just any critter will do, you have to feed Hungry Gromit. I spent the majority of my time just throwing treats at every critter in the quest area before I realized that.

Once you feed one you'll see a bar above it, you need to keep feeding till that bar fills up. If you see someone else feeding the critter you can join in and you'll all get credit.

The scavengers can randomly attack, just kill them.

Edit: It's bugged now for some reason. Some of them don't count for the quest, even when they heart you.

Yay Blizzard actually listened to feedback, i think. Didnt actually see a response.

They have fixed this quest now.
Using the treat in your bag gives a large green circle.
Click the critters with it until fed (they get a bar over their head).

Think of the Critters

As of October 20, 2021, it seems that Blizz may have changed some things about this quest!

1) I am finding that /tar Hungry Gromit does NOT work to target the Hungry Gromit.
OTOH, I have noticed that the Hungry Gromits actually move differently than the other gromits: they seem fairly lethargic and don't move around as far as others. Once you have gotten used to how they act, you can actually find them visually from a great distance.

2) On my ilevel 211 main, I found it was possible to simply keep feeding the Hungry Gromit inspite of one or even two predators attacking me. Apparently the Hungry Gromit is hungry enough that she is unfazed (and unPHASEd) by the attackers. So, feed the gromit(s) FIRST and then dispatch the predators.

easy quest, completed in 5 minutes at coordinates 42, 51... look for Korthian Treats in your bag, throw it at the critters 6 times... sometimes you get a mob that spawns but easy peasy

This is the only quest in Korthia I have never completed. I have started it twice and when I realized the treat only increased the bar like 10% I stopped. Monstrous waste of time

Here's a shortcut (heh) for you if you've collected Pommel Jewel of Remornia:

Each Hungry Gromit killed by Will of Remornia counts towards the quest progression. Just walk up to them and harvest their tiny souls. ❤️

Going back to do Shadowlands dailies is hilarious. It becomes painfully obvious how much of the expansion was designed, at every possible layer, to slow the player down. This is one such example.

I hope whoever designed this quest got sacked.
