This quest is bugged for me. Kevin will consume the enemies, but the quest will not credit them. His Growth Spurt buff is at 8 stacks and he will not consume a 9th (I tried). Tried abandoning and restarting, but it still will not credit the fallen and consumed enemies.

Don't waste your time, for now.

Necrolord assault came up again and I tried this quest again... no longer bugged! Kevin will consume enemies and the quest will credit them properly regardless of who landed the killing blow.

I finally finished this quest, been doing it for a hot second, but for me he didn't eat every single target... Kevin is... picky. So after quite a bit of kills he'd start nibbling on them here and there up till he is finished, obviously bigger pulls have a chance to proc his munchies more but it seems more RNG based if he's gonna take a bite or not. Hopefully this helps, otherwise hopefully they fix it soon so you guys can also do it. :)

This quest is very buggy at the moment. You have to feed Kevin 8 corpses inside Perdition Hold. But Kevin seems very picky about what corpses he'll eat and the quest doesn't always track the ones he does.

There appears to be a few different conditions that need to be met before Kevin will eat a corpse:

1. Kevin needs to be under 8 stacks. He can't eat any corpses if his stacks are at 8. Leaving Perdition Hold or logging out will reset his stacks back down to the number your quest shows.

2. Kevin will only eat non-elite mobs. While he may actually eat elites, the chance to do so seems extremely low and I never got him to do it. It may be impossible. It is much more worth your time to just kill non-elite mobs instead.

3. You have to score the killing blow on the mob for Kevin to eat it. If you're attacking a mob in a group or with other people around, that's dangerous. If you don't score the killing blow yourself, Kevin will refuse to eat the mob. This seems to also apply to NPCs in the area or Kevin himself, meaning if Kevin gets the killing blow instead of you, he'll refuse to eat the corpse. So when a mob starts to get low on health, back off your DPS and wait until the mob is nearly dead to land the killing blow.

4. Even if all these other factors are met, Kevin doesn't have a 100% chance to eat a mob. If you manage to do all of these, then sometimes Kevin will eat the mob. However, the quest doesn't always track when Kevin does manage to eat something, so keep track of the stacks Kevin has. If they're higher than the number of mobs eaten on your quest, you need to reset Kevin's stacks. See point 1 on how to do that.

If you manage to do all that stuff, Kevin should slowly gain stacks. Once he hits 8, you can return him to where you picked up the quest. After that, there's a short, simple vehicle section before the quest is over.

Hopefully this quest gets fixed soon because as it is now it is super frustrating to get through. Good luck!

So I don't know if this quest is really buggy or intended this way, but from what I played;

There is a higher chance Kevin will eat a non-elite mob then an elite one.
Odd considering the majority of mobs in Perdition Hold are elites.
It's annoying as these mobs get downed so fast and you have to wait a few minutes for them to spawn again.

Pet classes will probably have a hard time getting credit.
I was playing my BM hunter alt, I was 2/8 after 40+ kills.
Lost my patience, swapped to MM hunter, every single kill gave credit.
Getting the killing blow on the mob is how you get credit for the quest.

If you are here looking because you are not getting credit for the quest, it is because you are not getting the killing blow. NPCs, pets, and other players will steal your killing blow; good luck with this quest.

This quest is long and boring right now because not every NPC counts.

It took me 20 minutes to collect all 8/8. I wasted lots of time killing elite mobs, but non-elite mobs also count (https://youtu.be/h6s8mIPdkyY?t=84)
So if you server is not extremely crowded can go to the Perdition Hold bridge and try to kill some regular mobs there.

My two cents? In the second stage of the quest (after you've eaten the corpses), kevin is big and you go around killing mobs. I think if a mob is killed by stage 2 kevin (big kevin), people trying to get kevin to eat mobs (stage 1 kevin) don't get credit.

Kevin doesn't want to eat something covered in the slime of a bigger kevin.

If you go out of the area and lose Kevin and then come back in, he will have lost some (or all) of his stacks, but not the progress on the quest.

Just did it now, even at 8 stacks continue killing stuff and you'll finish the quest.

I ran into the issue where quest said 5/8 but the pet had 6. Left The hold to do another quest and the blob de-spawned. When it came back, the number of buffs it had dropped down to 5. Maybe that was just a coincidence but that helped.

Quest seems 'bugged' (sometimes kills don't count) and this is what 'worked' for my hunter (pet class):
1 - go for the 'weaker mobs' (mainly found at the double-bridge area.
2 - hit them with something to get agro
3 (IMPORTANT) - For each kill to count you (character) have to give a 'killing Blow' from HIS SKILLS (for hunters, non-pet attacks). Kill Shot works wonders, but don't rely only on it. As an SV hunter, I have the Bombs too, specially with the Wildfire Leggo, I mainly let my pet attack when I go for elites, but instantly turn on 'Passive stance' when they're dying, for safety. The quest 'pet', Kevin, also attacks, and hits like a truck itself, so pay attention to each swings, and time your Killing blows properly.

OK so nothing that anyone else said helped me when I tried to do this quest. Whether he was under 8 stacks, I got the killing blow, elite or nonelite, didn't matter. It seemed totally random.

Until I realize that he was only eating corpses if his stacking buff showed the same number as the quest did. So for instance, when his buff said "3" and the quest showed 3/8, I got credit for kill #4. So after I realized that, I reset him after every kill, because he would always end up with the wrong number of stacks. To reset him, run to the end of the double bridge area, right up to the gate. When you hit the gate, Kevin despawns and comes back with the correct number of stacks. I did 3-8 this way without him failing to eat a corpse again.

It got significantly easier to get credit for kills on this quest after finishing "You and What Army" and ditching the companion from that quest.

This quest requests that you kill enemies while Kevin (the ooze) is also near by. When the mob dies, Kevin gets credit for the kill, and you need 8 such kills. On many occasions you kill a mob and Kevin does not get the credit.

The reason, and the answer is, make sure you get the killing blow.

If there are other players around attacking the same mob, it will be harder of course. If you have pets, keep your finger on the "kill shot" button and when the mob is at low HP, fire off your kill shot. Worked 9/10 for me except when my pets maybe snuck in and landed the killing blow on a very, very few occasions.

Wanted to give my own experience, along side everyone else..

As other people have seen, this seems really bugged, and it can be difficult to get any credits.

I personally found, that the only mob I got credit for was Rune-hardened Retailiator, but those mobs gave me credit on every kill.

As of 21/07/21 Kevin is no longer a fussy bugger and will eat pretty much anything making this quest much quicker to complete
