This quest is impossible as a feral. I can't shift into cat form, so what should I do? Auto attack and moonfire?

Seems to be a little bugged currently. I used the speacial action button on the mobs in the air at lest 20 times. Finally, one of them picked me up in the air and I managed to kill it, then hop on another to kill etc.

This WQ needs to be fixed. As BM hunter this is not an easy task. I had to use cobra, barbed, arcane and concussive, then skydive down to ground, heal up and up again. Its a WQ that wouldnt take much time, but without pets this is simply too timeconsuming :( I hope blizzard will fix it fast.

1. Pick up Xandria's Reach from Weapon Rack 40 54.
2. Use Xandria's Reach on Flayedwing Wraith ( they flying ) and slay 5 rider. then use Flayedwing Wraith one more time range is very big you just jumping from Flayedwing Wraith to Flayedwing Wraith to get 5.

Is this a joke? As a Warlock I have to resummon my pet after each jump, i.e. 6 seconds cast time. Forget it.

They really should test such stuff on a beta, before launching a new expansion.

PS (2021-01-20):

This seems to be fixed, somehow. Not completely sure, since I did the quest with my BM Hunter (my original post was for my Warlock), but now I could at least do significant damage without pet-related abilities. I.e.: The absence of the pet is not a major issue anymore.

nah... i skip this. you need to kill 5 npcs and about 20 players were standing there for the kills spamming the spear button. in the meantime 2 npcs were active in the air. hoping for a fix asap.

Another quest that absolutely sucks for DH... no ability to use Metamorphosis whilst riding a wyvern. Same with The Hunt. Just stupid design honestly...

Not very fun at all as a Demonology Warlock. No pet, no imps...you better be able to wear them down before you get thrown off.

Along with all the hunter complaints, I'll add that this is also very annoying on dh, as you can't pick up the enemies' soul fragments, meaning you can't heal in between fights.

Okay, did this first time in Beast Master - that didn't work, so I switched to Marksmanship - much much easier. I recommend this tactic for any Hunter's trying this.

Quite problematic for any class/spec relying on pets. Like BM hunters or demo warlocks. :-/

This quest is working now. You need to follow Mpcisraze's post above. Just be sure to bring along health pots, bandages for the healing required. However, if you dont have enough healing you can just exit the mount, heal up, grab another spear from the weapon rack, and then use the spear to mount another bird. For all of the affliction warlocks out there, this rolling agony conduit is bis for aoe. Almost forgot, i believe there is another wq going on at the same loc as the 2 weapon racks or at least several ground mobs. You dont need to kill them at all. Just grab the spear and head towards the birds in the air.

If you've macroed your attacks to "/leavevehicle", forget about this.

Just go into your spellbook and attack from there.

This quest is awful overall. Targeting is currently extremely unreliable - it appears to be impossible to target the desired flyer, and instead targets the closest one. Prepare to spam the action button (mostly in vain) repeatedly.

Also, be aware of whether or not the flyer you're targeting would take you through the dungeon portal - if so, it'll zone you into the instance.

Presumably fixed as a Guardian druid it was one of the most fun quests I have done for WQ. Flying from mount to mount mauling the rider then leaping distances to the next. Awesome.

Key is to ensure that once on the enemy flying mount to make sure to target the enemy rider who generally have low health and die fast. The mounts have a lot more health.

One thing once done, try to dismount over friendly territory and into the middle of trouble.

What to do for this quest:

1. When you get to the quest area, click on the weapon rack that is indicated nearby (at 40, 54 - thank you, Mypciscraze!). You will then get an extra button on your screen.

2. Click the extra button and it will cause you to be taken upward onto the back of a flying creature up in the sky, called a Flayedwing Wraith.

3. Once up on the back of the flying creature, you will need to target the hostile NPC who is also on the back of the same flying creature. You need to DPS this hostile NPC down until you defeat it. Note: make sure to target the hostile NPC! Otherwise, you won't be able to dps anything.

4. After you have defeated the hostile NPC, click the extra button again, and you will be transported onto the back of a second flying creature; repeat the same process of DPSing the second hostile NPC down and so on, until you have defeated five.

5. Once you have defeated five then you are finished and should get the quest reward. In order to exit the vehicle, click the little red arrow to the lower right of your screen, and you will be parachuted down. (Note, thank you, Doloria: yes, make sure that you are above an area where it's safe to land before you click the little red arrow to exit the vehicle. If you stay on the vehicle too long after finishing the quest then it will parachute you down automatically, and where you end up landing could be random).

**Note: annoyingly, it appears that, at least for a while, this quest was problematic for a number of classes, such as those with minions or pets (which could not be properly summoned while on the back of the flying creature). I'm not sure if this has been fixed or if the problem is still ongoing, but I read a post on here that said that now BM hunters and demo warlocks presumably receive Kyrian aid during this quest (thank you, AngelZiefer!) As a shadow priest I did not run into any trouble. Be aware that you will not be able to eat or drink between fights, so if you are not a healing class then you might want to bring along a healing potion and bandages (I saw some demon hunters say that they were not able to pick up their healing orbs to heal up during this fight, and that also they couldn't use metamorphosis). Alternatively, you can just dismount when your health is low, heal up, and then click the weapon rack again and continue where you left off (thank you, ricerd!)

Second note: someone has pointed out that when they did this there were a lot of people around and they had a hard time finding free flying creatures to target. I did this quest at around 6 AM server time and did not have this issue at all. If there are a lot of people around, then it's possible that clicking the extra action button will not do anything - which means that all the flying creatures around are currently occupied by other players. In this case, annoyingly, you just have to keep clicking until you get a free one...

Quest is currently bugged, you use the harpoon and nothing happens. Sometimes they get knocked off, but no credit given. Went to do the skinning quest just next to this and there are no mobs to skin... blizz is really failing at this lately.

OK, so it appears to be totally fixed now. Don't bother targetting a rider, Just throw the spear. If a rider is available, it will hit them and pull you on board so you can kill them. Rinse and repeat from the mount you are on. Voila, all over in about 1 1/2 mins

Fastest WQ I've ever encountered. Just spam the spear (it uses the special action button) until it connects to something, then kill the enemy on top. The mount itself is unattackable, but the rider is ezpz.

It appears this World Quest will not trigger properly if you're on the "Before the Dawn" Kyrian campaign quest (to get to Chapter 9). Apolon is there for the campaign quest but will not register progress towards it until you talk to the previous NPCs. Once I got to the part of the quest for "Bearers gathered" and returned to Xandria's Vigil, the World Quest triggered properly.

If you are using the spear and it's doing nothing, try going to a different spot.

If someone else is around you doing this quest you simply wont be able to mount onto the flyers.

Another shockingly terrible world quest for Shadowlands.

Just in case you are like me and trying to kill the Flying things - Don't. You're after Riders on them. I have a macro I use and keep slotted for the Extra Action Button so I used that to hop around till I got close to a Rider on the back of one. Here's the Macro (comes in handy a Lot).

Type /Macro, Pick a cool Icon, name it something you like then add this:
/click ExtraActionButton1

Drag it to an empty/Handy slot and you're golden.

I am level 190 BM Hunter. Completed this quest in less than a minute. May be you need to be of higher item level to do it with ease. Received level 184 epic shoulders.

It's May and this quest is still the worst World Quest in Shadowlands. Don't even bother doing it if there are multiple People around...

I don't understand the perceived difficulty of this quest (unless you're under-powered); it's one of the easiest in Bastion. Just do the following as soon as you obtain the item Xandria's Reach:

1) Click on the Xandria's Reach icon displayed at the bottom of the screen (you never have to aim...it will automatically target and pull you onto the nearest enemy mount).

2) Press 'Tab' to target the rider.

3) Kill

4) Repeat.

Once you're done click the dismount button to parachute to the surface.

when you land on a flayedwing it will be your target. You need to change targets to the rider, not their mount.

If your BM finally does manage to complete this quest, as mine did a few minutes ago, you may find that when leaving the final flying creature you parachute straight into a large crowd of disgruntled freaks who will quickly tear your limbs off and batter you over the head with the soggy ends, resulting in a corpse run.

The designers at Blizzard must have had a proper good laugh when they dreamed this quest up.

Easy quest. Must click on weapon rack and click extra button. Fight in the air and click extra b. every time you kill the beast you are riding on. Each time you are tethered to new beast , just kill all. then wait they will drop you with a chute.
CANNOT WIN ON GROUND!
