Just outside the main part of Darkshire, along the road going north, are a couple of spawn points.

That's the one I used. Mobs spawn regularly, at that point, on either side of the road.

If the middle of town feels like it's being camped, head outward along one of the roads.
There are other points, like the one I mentioned, on the other roads. You don't need to go far.

You'll get the quest done a lot faster, at one of those, than if you'd waited in what might be the busier middle of town.

The spelling mistake in the quest description really bothers me! haha

Before you depart... we are in desperate need of reinforcements. These reports much reach Commander Gregor. But if you would help us thin the Scourge's numbers first, it would grant us a much needed reprieve.

Definitely should say "must".

I was not able to attack any of the Scourage Enemies, because I had the "New Recruit" buff on my character (recently dinged 50).

By right-clicking on the buff to remove, I was able to start participating in the quest.
