Note -- don't jump down into the pit following your friends -- you must wait for Lana to catch up and you talk to her before jumping in.
You can get back up again, but it takes some tricky climbing of narrow ledges.

To get back up, simply stick to the wall, especially when you see vine tendrils, because the way up is split from the other path by vine.
