This isn't an item you have to loot. It is awarded in the chest received after completing the Vision of Orgrimmar.

For example, it is not an item you need to pick up in the room. Just kill Thrall and gg you'll be awarded it after evacuation.

After getting through the trash (as easy at it is), you're probably going to be at about 1/2 sanity when you get to Thrall. Be sure to use your Sanity Restoration Orb to top yourself off before you start the fight.

Edit: The FIRST time you go into a vision you won't have access to the orb. It will probably not go well. The next time you go in, you'll have done the Archives quest and gotten the talent to get the orb.

I was able to get through this easily using a BM hunter using camouflage talent and aspect of cheetah to run straight to the end kill Thrall quickly, hardly lost any sanity. Try to see if your other classes or specs with similar talents should allow you to breeze right through this quest.

Two tips before you do this quest (learned from experience lost 30,000 essence):

1. If you have a decent ilvl (420+), do this solo. Despite most guides saying to go with a partner, I found more mistakes were made, see below.
2. USE THE ORB PRIOR TO STARTING BOSS FIGHT. The Orb, which it does not state, CANNOT be used in combat, think of it as a OUT OF COMBAT REZ - heals everyone, rezes and resets insanity, but has to be cast PRIOR to entering combat. So clear the mobs up to the shadowy entry to Thrall and then STOP and use the Orb, then enter and pop CDs and blow up Thrall being sure to follow the basic mechanics of avoiding his wind up Stun and staying out of purple ground.

If you do the above steps this is very easy, if you do not, like me, running into thrall without using the orb, you will run out of insanity and die.

Once this quest becomes available, put it in your quest log! Don't think "oh I don't need that yet"...

If you can queue into a vision with this quest, but you don't have the quest, you don't get the cloak upgrade. 10000 essence wasted even though you do the actual scenario fine.

Tip for those DPS's who do this solo:

When you enter the vision to kill corrupted Thrall you need to make your way to his location along the path that is flanked by a series of mobs. DON'T just run through as you'll end up pulling a whole load of trash that can overwhelm you & kill you.
Move slowly & pull just a couple of them at a time (down the right hand side of the path worked fine for me). That way you can make your way to the 2 guards outside Thrall's location. Re-set your sanity with the orb to ensure you have a better chance of wiping them). Deal with those & then re-set your sanity again (don't forget, else you'll not have enough left for the Thrall fight). Then head into the building & wipe Thrall. It's a fairly tough fight depending on your dps/heal abilities, but easily doable. Loot the chest & return via the portal to Chamber of the Heart to collect the legendary cloak buff from Wrathion.

Just as an aside...if you're a DPS/Melee spec this seems to be a far easier vision to complete than Stormwind, but that's just what I found.

I am using 425 veng DH and having a horrible time trying to complete this. I’ve tried 3 times so far and can’t seem to avoid getting stunned by Thrall every 5 seconds! Not as easy as everyone is saying!

If you're having trouble with this one (or think you will since you might be undergeared), consider pre-planning a few boosts before starting it. Eat some food. Bring a potion or two. And, most importantly, if you're not a Mage/Shaman (or some hunters), bring a Drums of the Mountain / Drums of Fury to give you that extra boost. The drums and pots are pretty cheap and they might make the difference.

Failed to solo this as a 414 Windwalker , and the book was not awarded.

So maybe going in as a group is a good idea since you can't just keep retrying it forever. Not sure if Thrall is buffed when you queue as group though.

Can this quest be completed in the Stormwind scenario? I keep abandoning and picking it up again, and it says I need to get the book from Orgrimmar, but the scenario I am in is Stormwind.

You DO NOT have to complete this quest in Orgrimmar. It will appear in the final chest regardless of which assault you did this week.

I did the Stormwind quest and got the Orgrimmar quest from Wrathion afterwards. Couldn't understand where I was supposed to go, took some time for me to understand this:

Only one city is available per week.

As a BM Hunter, I stayed on the steps at the entrance to Thrall's chamber. My pet was attacking him. I was shooting him. And then a wall of black waves came up between me and the room. My pet was still attacking him but my shots no longer hit. And my pet commands no longer worked. When my pet died, the wall came down and I had lost aggro. I was able to use the Orb and restart within the room before combat started again.

You can do the vision for the quest the same week you do the questline and get the questitem in chest after killing Thrall.

Hmmmmm .... I can see the icon that tells me that the book I need is inside the S/W Cathedral. But how do I enter the Cathedral to get it? Every entry seems to be protected by a black wavery fence,

OK, 438 Balance druid, stealthed all the way to the two guards. Killed both of them, used the orb to get sanity all the way back. Potted, ate, and three times have been unable to kill Thrall. Kited him around to stay out of his stun except for once. This is not fun anymore, and if I need this damn quest completed in order to progress I am hosed. Read everything about what to do, etc. Very discouraged, have 20 alts that must run this and may just have to find another game if Shadowlands is dependent on having this cloak leveled up. Give me some positive feedback, or ?
UPDATE: Finally figured out how to kill this guy or any other one. Pots help etc and being sure you have your sanity back up but have been using this on all my alts. The key seems to be to keep moving at all times, so I found my instant spell, kept spamming it, and using my left movement key to make circles around them. It limits the spells that they can land on you. You do have to watch to hide for Jaina at times but it still works well. Have had no trouble since using this tactic.

What am I doing wrong? Trying to solo this as a shadow priest have failed at least 7 times. I am lvl 120 and item level 436. I go in with Crystal of Insanity and War Scroll of battle shout active and I die fighting Alleria Windrunner every time. Just when I think I have her down to a sliver of life, I die or run out of time. Last time I had full health and she had a sliver left and I died. What am I doing wrong?

1. Research the upgrade first before doing this!
It´s the box next to MOTHER, " Titanic research archive ". First upgrade is " Orb operation manual " . It restores your sanity during missions in visions, so it gives you more time to linger there.

2. I found the Stormwind scenario way more difficult than the Orgrimmar one. So if you fail SW scenario, wait for next week when it changes to the other one.

OK, I appreciate all the tips, but how do I start the encounter? I've got the quest, and when I look at the quest map, it shows a spot in SW, but it's not in SW when I go there, so I'm guessing there's some special instanced version of SW where this all takes place. How do I get there? I tried talking to Wrathion, thinking it was one of those quests where you have to say you're ready for the quest giver to start it, but nothing there. I've looked all around the Chamber of the Heart for something that will start this event, but can't find anything. I've tried dropping the quest and re-acquiring, no good either. Can anyone help me?

This quest opens up at the same time as Into Dreams and Accessing the Archives. They are unrelated, but the latter will help with this quest.
