To get access to this quest you'll need to have completed the Night Warrior Ritual/Resurrecting the Night Elves storyline on at least one character.

If you're just grinding Honorbound rep, it's best just to skip this. All that time and effort and all you get is a lousy 150 rep gain.

Ok. I figured it out after a while. You also have to have access to the world quests to get this one, I.e you have to finish Uniting Zandalar to get it. Worked for me.

Normal Darkshore at least seems bugged for now. Various posts on the forums and Reddit mention it but Maiev evade bugs when she casts her big Vengeance spell. Tried to burn her down a few times but it didn't seem to change anything. Had progressed through all the buildings and objectives previously.

For the people who want to farm the transmog as fast as possible, you can follow the steps:

1. Create a Zandalari Troll if you can, its slightly faster due to some initial quest skipping.

2. Zone in at/go to Orgrimmar, then to the quest board and accept the BfA quest from the orc standing by the board's west side. Do the quest, its just a cutscene skip then a dialog with Nathanos at the inn.

3. Take Nathanos' quest. Note: If you have done this before, the alt-character skip still applies to this quest. If not you have to do it once first, then subsequent iterations you can use the skip. Do the main story quests, there's like 2-3, up to being able to go talk to Nathanos on the ship to the south. Accept and instantly complete the quest "Uniting Zandalar" from Nathanos on the ship. Once that's done you can now accept the warfront quest and queue for warfronts. Done.

4. If you are a Zandalari troll, as soon as you do the alt-skip, you zone into the Great Seal, turn in the quest to Nathanos, go get "Uniting Zandalar", from him on the ship to the south, turn it in, and your prerequisites are done.

Here is a quick macro for seeing if you have done any of the Horde warfronts quests for the current Siege event (when Horde can queue for Battle for Darkshore). Handy when you can't remember which alts you've done the quests on:

So a couple of notes I haven't seen anywhere else, now that Battle for Darkshore is old content:

- You can only queue at the war table in front of the quest giver. There's still no other way to do it
- The instance has been only five players for a while now
- If somebody leaves the instance, the group cannot queue for more (very unfortunate)
- You can easily zerg all the way to the trees before Lor'danel right off the bat. However if you take Lor'danel completely (ie the flag), the tree mobs will stop spawning when you cut one down (less wood generation) and the enemy mob patrols will stop spawning. These aren't terrible things, but you might want to wait to take Lor'danel until you've gotten some buildings built
- I'm unsure if there's any way to zerg the ships. Usually I just wait to build the machines we need, follow them up, defend them. I'd honestly love if there was a way to do so, but if you need the achievements, you need the buildings anyways

I wish there was a way I knew about to make the material gathering, building stuff, waiting to make the machines less tedious. One thing is that they never brought down the amount of materials you needed to make the buildings, so most of the play of this old instance is 'wait for the chest to give you more materials, go chop down trees, one shot the patrols, so much waiting or riding around aimlessly'
