It is one of the endgame PvE content.
The Battle for Stromgarde is the first Warfront of the BfA.
Other Warfronts are coming in future patches.
If you took the quest and cannot queue, just wait for the right phase for your faction or try other phases content.

After you complete BfA Warfront questline one faction has access to warfront scenario and another controls Arathi Highlands.
How Warfront faction switch cycle works:

The Alliance starts with ownership of the Arathi Highlands,
Horde players challenge them by contributing professions items, gold, and War Resources to help their faction build up enough strength to attack.
This is a region-wide effort.
Horde players are able to queue Warfront: Battle for Stromgarde, once enough contributions are supplied by the region
This queue remains open for a set duration, allowing players to complete the Warfront on a schedule that works for them.
After the Horde takes control of Arathi Highlands it gets access to a World Boss and rares spawns
The Alliance then begins contributing resources to challenge Horde control.

Arathi rares rewards only available during the period when their faction owns the zone (Intended behavior according to the blue post). But right now opposite faction can fly there without a portal and farm rares. It will not give you extra rewards, just a option to do all the rares during the opposite faction phase. And you can't kill couple of rares (world boss, Knight-Captain Aldrin / Doomrider Helgrim), because they are friendly to you during that phase

How to get access to the Warfront:
Need to be level 120. Don't think there is any other prerequisite right now. (but if you know something, let me know)
You need to complete a series of quests to get this quest and be able to queue the Warfront.

Phase 1: Warfront donations quests
Turn in professions items, gold, and War Resources
Can complete each quest once per Warfront reset cycle.
Reward is 150 reputation with The Honorbound (Horde) and 7th Legion (Alliance)
The main War campaign(Ready for War / Ready for War) is gated behind the main faction rep, so this is really helpfull.

Phase 2: The Battle for Stromgarde scenario (20-men Warfront scenario)
Pve fight with mobs.
Something like dota, but you also have to collect resources to build your base.
Queue table is near the questgiver.
I think you get 340 ilvl gear for the first win.
You also get 370 gear from the quest you pick up near the queue table once in Warfront reset cycle.

Phase 3: Arathi Highlands phase

How to get to the BfA Arathi Highlands?

Faction with control over Arathi Highlands has portal to Arathi in main BfA hub (Boralus/Dazar'alor).

Questgiver is in Arathi, near the portal back to the main city
They give Don't Warfront Me Arathi 340 gear item or 200 x War Resources or some Azerite reward

I know i'll learn from this in game, but maybe someone won't know.

When I join groups in Arathi I am in a lot of "You are not in the same war mode" My guess is that I am warmode on while the leader is off?

I completed the Return to Boralus step and got the 'warfront unlocked' reward, as in I can look at the table and see the progress. However, I didn't get the follow-up quest "Warfront: The Battle for Stromgarde."

Normally I wouldn't care, maybe, but that 370 equipment chest seems like it'd be nice to have. Am I missing something?

To anyone coming here wondering why the "Join queue" button is grayed out:

The Battle for Stromgarde is apparently operating on ~~not a weekly, but a biweekly~~ a monthly schedule. Alliance started with holding Arathi and were able to do quests there while horde prepped for and completed their Battle for Stromgarde.

NOW Horde has the highlands and are able to do their quests while alliance prepared to have their turn to take it back. it will be ~~September 16th~~ Septmber 20th-23rd before we can complete our quest.

So apparently I was WAY off on my initial post. The attack "warfront" phase for each faction lasts a week to give everyone a chance to fit it into their schedule. Left my original comment there but scratched thru.

Warfronts are a monthly rotation:

Week 1: alliance control of zone, horde prepares for warfront
Week 2: Horde players can complete warfront (unclear if alliance can still quest during this phase, if you know comment below)
Week 3:Horde controls zone, alliance can complete preparation quests
Week 4: Alliance can participate in their warfront.

If you cannot pick up this quest
1. Talk to Yvera Dawnwing port to Arathai
2. pick up quest go on bird and talk to 2 other objectives
3. go back through mage and you should now be able to interact with the table and pick up quest.

I have killed many of the rares but not had ONE toy or item. Am I missing something? I cant pick anything up from the rare mobs and no item is given for the rare kill at the end of the instance.

Rewards is not just a gold:
- gold,
- Warfronts equipment cache (370 lvl),
- Radiant Azerite core (600 ap)

For unknown reason wowhead don't have info about this.

If you accept both Warfront quests at the table you may encounter a situation after the completing one of the quests that you can no longer 'View the War Table in Boralus'

If you look closely, you may see that the Warfront you have NOT completed yet has given you credit for 'View the table' while the one you have completed is still marked as incomplete.

Simply abandon the quest you have not yet completed, click on the table, and you will then be able to hand in the completed quest for your item.

Then you are free to take the second quest and complete that Warfront.

TL/DR. Do the 2 Warfronts in the order you accepted them from the quest giver.

If you're coming at this like me and wondering, "why can't I do warfront quests on my alt when I have them unlocked on my main?", I finally figured it out.

The requirements are
"Come Sail Away" kul tiran arrival achievement
The Heart of Azeroth in your possession (bank or wherever doesn't matter, you just have to do the quests with Magni)
Uniting Kul Tiras quest to unlock WQ

- If you can't see the portals and NPCs, you haven't finished Come Sail Away.
- If you can't pick up the Warfront Quests from Ralston Karn, you haven't unlocked the WQ
- If you can't pick up Uniting Kul Tiras on the boat to unlock the WQ, you haven't gotten your heart of azeroth yet.

I have the Warfront quests and it will only let me try to queue for Darkshore. I unlocked Stormgarde, but cannot press the queue button. No idea.

You thought queuing for LFR was bad? Four hours and it hasn't popped up. There needs to be a fix for Normal and Heroic battle queues.

Here is a quick macro for seeing if you have done any of the Alliance warfronts quests for the current Siege event (when Alliance can queue for Battle for Stromgarde). Handy when you can't remember which alts you've done the quests on:

how to unlock warfronts in BFA in world of warcraft dragonflight 10.2.5 on "alt" character that never played BFA content

this is for the alliance
you start in stormwind by the message board and there is a npc next to it who has a qeust "battle for azeroth: tides of war" put at the "tracking"abbillty" above the minimap the option trivial quest on then you can see the quest
you then go to stormwind keep to attent a war council
go true that and then to the harbor in stormwind talk to jaina and click the option i have heard this tale before the option should be there because your doing this on a alt and then you need to go true to some intro quest in boralus
when you reach cyrus crestfall listing to his story and then you take the qeust santum of the sages from taelia complete that
get the ferry pass from cyrus
take the quest from taelia click the map on the wall then complete the qeust and you should have "come sail away achiev" you have gone true the intro of kul tiras
then you need the heart of azeroth
talk to Earthen Guardians next to the inn in boralus and pick up the qeust a dying world
If the Earthen Guardians isnt offering you this quest - make sure you've completed the DF intro quest To The Dragon Isles (questline starts with Wrathion - The Dragon Isles Await).

this is optional but i worked for me: when you are on the qeustchain to the intro of the dragon isles at one time you have to go the harbor in stormwind and hand in the "the call of the isles" and wait for the boat the take you there
but you dont have to wait for the boat you can just hand in the qeust at that npc go in the mage tower and true the portal to the dragon isles and then fly to the waking shores at /way 82.11. 31.78 and there you can hand in the qeust "to the dragon isles!"
and then head back to boralus and the Earthen Guardian is having the quest now to start getting the heart of azeroth

do a few qeust till you get the heart of azeroth and the achiev "have a heart"
do the follow up qeust "infusing the heart" hand that in and get back to boralus
on the ship where the mission table is you talk to "halford wyrmbane" and he should have the qeust "uniting kultiras" complete that
now you unlocked world qeust in BFA
and now you should be good to go on entering the warfronts and when the portals are up you can go and kill all the rares there for all the goodies( mounts, pets, toys)
