Did this quest in conjunction with Power! Get the Power! and discovered that you don't have to actually target a bat in order to use the item. Just use it and it will automatically grab a bat if there's one nearby - in fact, if you do have a bat targeted and another is closer, the item will grab the closer bat for you.

I did this quest easily just after killing Azoran for Azoran Must Die. Kill Azoran, walk straight ahead and pull the bats on the ledge, very easy.

Summary:
1) Go to any safe location (as mentioned 31,81 bridge is a good spot)
2) Target a Sinister Shrieker, they will be flying in the air (must target or it will pull random closest and you can't attack it)
3) Use your Fel Lash (very short cd, so you can pull 2 or 3 this way)
4) Kill approximately 5 this way

If you want to cap off your skinning skill or just want to farm up leather easily, delay the quest turn-in and use the fel lash at the aforementioned bridge. You never run out of spawns and can skin for as long as your sanity allows.

There is a quest item provided for this quest that has a 90-yard attack range. It is called Fel Lash.

As with other target-air-use-item quests, a one-button macro makes this much simpler:

/tar Sinister Shrieker
/use Fel Lash

I apparently did this wrong, but I jumped into a cannon and killed off the bats that way. After I exited the cannon, I was able to loot the bats.

I found a really great place - Free from Patrols and such - was the parapet at 32, 78 . If u don't have co=ords its the high platform just the "F" on the Felsoul Hold on the map.

Just stand near the edge (you don't have to be right on it) and pull for fun.

Generally groups of 3-4 are easy pulls.

You can use the Fel Cannons to kill the bats easily.

This is the best quest to never turn in.

Find a good spot, click on your Fel Lash button (or the hot key if you did that), kill the Sinister Shrieker it drags to you, loot and skin it. Repeat. Easy skinning for Stonehide Leather as well as making finishing other quests easier.

Killing the Sinister Shriekers this way does satisfy the world quest Clear the Skies (12 Sinister Shriekers shot down) as well as Intolerable Infestation (Slay 50 demons in Faronaar or Felsoul Hold)

To make this easier on yourself, create this macro:
/target Sinister Shrieker
/use Fel Lash

Just run around under the Sinister Shriekers & spam your macro. It will work automatically once a Sinister Shrieker comes within range. No need to target anything.
Also, the Shriekers drop more than 1 piece of leather. I got this quest done after killing about 5 of them.

Description

You may as well bring back their hides, if only to shut up that fellow in the corner for a few moments.
