Gelmogg is further up inside the same cave. If you stealth and run past a bunch of mobs, Jale Rivermane will helpfully bring them all to you to fight along with Gelmogg. I found this a wee bit exciting on an undergeared toon.

Gelmogg is in a higher part of the cavern you're already in for Crystal Fury, coming from the cave entrance, there's a ramp that leads upwards half way in on the right.

Cave layout is kind of confusing. I give coordinates for Val'sharra, though as soon as you enter, some addons might report coordinates for the Lifespring Cavern, which is a different coordinate system entirely. Hopefully you can make out what I mean by descriptions.

Cave entrance is at at 38.4, 61.3 in Val'sharra. (Note: All map coordinates are given for Val'sharra's map; some addons show coordinates for the cave's map). Follow the corridor in, and there's a small pooling of water with a dirt ramp up to the left (northwest). That leads to the first puddle where there's a path up four rocks to the left (southwest). That leads you at another puddle at 37, 59, which has a path upwards with half-buried wooden logs that goes south (even though the mob is north). Go up that, then at the top (36.6, 59.8), turn right to take another half-buried-log path up, which curves up north to 41.4, 67.6. From there you should see Gelmogg's spawn point around 35.5, 57.1.

You can turn the quest into Jale Rivermane right there, completing the first chapter in Val'sharra's main story line.

Also, you may have noticed an unreachable Treasure Chest above your head when you were killing mobs down below near the first puddle. From this top level near Gelmogg, you can follow a path down some wooden steps that start at at 37.9, 58.2, and curves down to the treasure chest at 37.1, 57.1.

For some reason, on my Death Knight, when I killed Gelmogg, Jale ran off to fight other mobs, so I ran out of the cave. When I got to the opening (where the question mark to turn it in was), she was there, but before I could select the reward she said "Let's go . This moisture makes my joints hurt; make it snappy" - as if we had not yet started the quests.

In order to fix this, I logged out and logged back in and was then able to turn it in.

I had problem with turning in the quest, just patiently wait outside the cave (walk back and fourth to get question mark sign) and accept it as fast as possible, but I hope blizzard fix this bug, seems it's not only me who had this problem...

While you're in the area, don't forget to get the Glimmering Treasure Chest.

Gelmogg is up and to the left, and the chest is down and to the right when you enter the room.

As Unholy DK, I had to look this quest up since it only offers a choice between Frost or Frost relics. Since I did the questline for the Frost DK and collected the weapons, I wanted to make sure this wasn't the game thinking I had changed spec.

But nope looks like I misread this. They are for both spec artifact weapons. Oh well.

Gelmogg is located further in cave. Follow the path up, kill mobs as they will annoy when you pull Gelmogg. When you cut off a half of it's health, Dargrul comes and transform him into stown elemental and recharge it's hp, so keep fighting it until it dead.

As a boosted character, this is not where the quest starts. Once I discover where to start the unlocking of Highmountain Tauren for characters boosted to 110-120, I will update this thread.

As of March 10, 2020 in The Battle for Azeroth 8.3 game patch this quest did not offer me Fire Mage spec'd items, only Frost and Arcane; my Mage is Fire spec'd. Unfortunately besides that, I also don't see anyone else here mentioning that. I kind of don't want to turn the quest in because I don't know if rewards were changed or if I'm just bugged.

I submitted an in game ticket a few seconds ago and I imagine it will be a day or more before I get a response. I'll come back and edit this to let you know what I have been told.

EDIT: I had a GM response overnight and this is what I was told:

I am Game Master Taelevmek and I hope you are doing well. I see you were reaching out to us about this issue where Fire Relics weren't coming as rewards for Crystal Fury. Hopefully, I can shed some light on this issue! :)

I'm glad you reached out to us! I did a bunch of digging into this on my end to see what I could find. However, after much investigation, I wasn't quite able to pinpoint why exactly these weren't showing up. I took a step into your character's shoes to check things out for myself as well as made my own character to see if it was a specific issue to ((Mark)), but still no luck. It looks like the rewards may have been adjusted ever since Relics became more of just item-level buffs versus what they use to be where they added specific Artifact Traits. Either way though, I'm going to submit a bug report on my end to be reviewed so we can give this more attention. I know this isn't an immediate fix, but I would definitely encourage you to submit a report as well whenever you get a chance to in-game so we can get as many samples on this as possible. I hope that you're still able to use the Arcane Relics that this quest offers since you're using Felo'melorn, and if you're looking for a Fire Relic, that you're able to obtain one here very soon throughout your journeys of the Broken Isles. :D

On that note, I hope I could help shed some light on all of this despite not having an immediate fix. I want to thank you for reaching out to us so we could get this info together. Of course, if you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to reach out again! -^_^-

The GM suggested and hoped that one of the Arcane options would work for me so I chose the Empowered Lifespring Crystal. I didn't know which one to choose since those items on Wowhead didn't really have any info about them that I could see.

Oh well.

Suggest you do not turn in the quest to Jale until you are back out of the cave. She will continue to heal and help you with the mobs. You can also heartstone if you prefer in which case turn in the quest to Jale before doing so,

I'm trying to unlock Highmountain Tauren but when I go to start this quest, which is supposed to be the first in the storyline, I can't even get to where it says it should start. Can someone please let me know how I can start this?

To those who cannot find Jale Rivermane to start the quest, here's what worked for me:

You have to start the highmountain quest line. The first guy i talked to was in Riverbend (around 36,66 next to the flight path). Take his quest, which will take you to Thunder Totem where you'll talk to the main head honcho lady. Continue the quest line for about 5-6 more quests, and eventually you'll be asked to go to the cave entrance, where Jale Rivermane will be!

I'm having a hell of a time starting this quest. Supposedly if you do the quests at the farm -- spray the drogbar, kick the fish, free the tauren -- you should be sent next to a cave where you meet Jale. But I've done all those breadcrumbs and no quest. And I can't find Jale at the coords given.

As you continue with this quest in the cave, don't forget to be on the lookout for Flowing Droplet, so you can pick up the movement speed buff Torrent.
