They can be found in Suspiciously Glowing Chest and this chest will respawn in the exact same spot allowing you to just camp it and open it up till you finish.

A good way to get more than half needed quickly is to go to Fang'rila, and kill the three champions. You get a few for each kill, but only once every day. You can stick around the little arena and just kill whatever other people summon, since they are free tap.
To be more precise, the minor champion gives 1x, the major 2x and the prime 3x, for a total of 6x Fragments.

To complete this quest, i would suggest you do not focus on it and do the other dailies. While doing them, you will almost inevitably stumble upon a few rares. It happened to me a few times to not even have to bother doing the champions!

Finally, you can get the item Hunter's Seeking Crystal to help you find rares.

So a good way to do this (especially on alts where you don't need the toys anymore) is through the Tanaan treasures. You're an savvy WoW player since you're reading wowhead so it's a safe assumption that you're also using Handy Notes - Draenor Treasures.

Each treasure will give 1 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment the first time you loot it. There's a couple dozen treasures in Tanaan. So do your normal dailies, keep an eye out for non-treasure containers, and then pick up the rest of your 10 from Draenor Treasures.

If you do Fang'rilla, you might only need 1 or 2 and can pace how many treasures you go through so you never have to run around hoping you happen to come across them... which is pretty annoying.

TomTom Waypoints can be found in the comment section for each treasure.

Edit: It seems like Looted Treasures and Stolen Treasure Cache do not drop the quest item. They still drop Apexis Crystal though.

This quest is just going to suck more and more as one runs out of treasures to loot and has to hope for RNG spawns, circling endlessly or sitting in front of a spawn point and clicking like they're in a Skinner box hoping for pellets.

The chests seem to be nerfed to a point of absolute absurdity. The day of release you could not go 1 min before finding a glowing chest, the very next day when I ran an alt thru the start quest, I was what the hell....no chest anywhere to be found....almost a week later, I have no clue where to get these crystals. I will continue my path to enlightenment in the hopes Blizz does the right thing and gives us these chests back.

This is a horridly designed quest that might have seemed fine on PTR with a limited playerbase but on live with the entire server running around doing their dailies it just scales horridly. Right now its fine since there are plenty of 1 time find treasures to make up the difference but once you've exhausted those you are stuck with hoping someone hasn't just rolled through the bonus area you pick killing all the rares and picking up the respawnable chests. Very very poorly thought out quest.

While affected by this buff King of the Jungle after I completed the quest, Rumble in the Jungle. I looted a container near the Saberstalkers Quartermaster and looted 3 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragments instead of the usual 1 fragment.

Does not appear you can collect crystals while in a raid group... :-(

But you are able to attack the mob while in a raid group, leave, and finish killing the mob and you will be able to loot crystals!

Best way to farm the quest items is to camp a rare spawn spot (preferably outside of apexis daily/bonus objective areas) and switch servers by joining a group via lfr tool. YOU DO NOT GET THE QUEST ITEM IF YOU ARE IN A RAID GROUP. So try to join a 5 man Throne of Kil'jaeden daily group to swap or join a raid group and leave the group just before you kill a rare. Corpse might despawn if you do that so you have to be quick.

This is another of those absurdly annoying quests that takes forever, but there are some tricks to get around it.

Normal questing for these can honestly take hours, because you'll only find them on rares, treasures, and a couple other places.

You can get one out of most of the treasures you'll find, but after the treasures are gone, that approach won't work.

The fastest way to get to your first (6) Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment is to go to the Blackfang Challenge Arena at (54,81), and kill the three champions as they are summoned one by one. On populated servers, you can just wait for others to purchase the items that summon each champion and down them, this past week you'd see someone downing all three within about 15 minutes.

If you are on a less populated server, you can purchase the Challenge Totems listed below from Z'tenga the Walker at (55,74), the entrance to the Fang'rila area. WARNING: If you are not geared up, do NOT enter Fang'rila without friends, the NPCs there are very aggressive and hard to kill!. If you are geared up, or you have a group, you'll need to farm the Blackfang NPC's in the area, they drop the Blackfang Claws used as currency with Z'tenga to buy the totems. Activate the totem and summon Champ inside the Challenge Arena by clicking totem, down Champ, take Fragments. Note: for whatever reason, it takes a minute or so before you can do your next totem, so just be patient.

Akrrilo = Minor Blackfang Challenge Totem = 5 Blackfang Claw = 1 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment
Rendarr = Major Blackfang Challenge Totem = 10 Blackfang Claw = 2 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment
Eyepiercer = Prime Blackfang Challenge Totem = 25 Blackfang Claw = 3 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment

There are your first six Fragments. Don't try to buy more totems to resummon the same Champion for more Fragments, you can only loot them once per day. Same thing goes for waiting for others to summon, if you've already killed one of the Champions, that's it till tomorrow.

Then for your 7th and 8th guaranteed Fragments go get Ironbeard's Treasure. This chest respawns, and each day you can loot another fragment, one of a few treasures that does this. Go to cave entrance at (37,76), and head inside. You'll have to climb up on the platform at (35,78), it's a little tricky, but you'll figure it out. Open that chest up, and Glub'glok will pop out. He's not overly difficult. Kill him, and loot the Fragments. Basically he's a guaranteed rare that will always be there, respawn time is like 2 minutes. Like the Champions above, don't try to kill him again for another Fragment, you only get one per day. (I've heard some people only get one from this, I've gotten two every time.)

A huge must to have in this area regardless are Aviana's Feather and Hunter's Seeking Crystal. With the feather you can fly around up high and search out rares, if you find one, land close as you can by circling down, then activate the crystal to teleport directly to the rare, and kill it. Sometimes it teleports you to a different rare, which, if you are hunting a specific rare, that stinks, but if you are just after these crystals, no biggie, kill rare, get crystal, and then you might even be able to get to the other rare you saw before someone kills it.

EDIT: HUGE help to get the last two: Once you reach revered with the Order of the Awakened, you can purchase the Master Hunter's Seeking Crystal. Now be warned, seems like half the time it sends you over to Varyx the Damned (requires several people to break the beams rare), but the rest of the time you can get your last two, 15 minute cooldown on the item. Here's another tip: You spend 4,250 gold to get this item, along with trading in your Hunter's Seeking Crystal. Notice though, there is a two hour window and you can sell that item back to the vendor. So use it each day to get the crystals, then sell it back. There really isn't much reason to have it other than going after rares, once you have the Jungle Stalker and Exalted with Order of the Awakened, you aren't likely going to need the Master Hunter's Seeking Crystal any longer, plus you'll still have your Hunter's Seeking Crystal anyway for finding rares nearby.

The Unseen Influence daily quest normally awards 1500 rep.

If you have the WHEE! buff from riding the Darkmoon Carousel or using a Darkmoon Top Hat during the Darkmoon Faire, you'll get 10% extra rep, or 150 more. If you have a level 3 Trading Post Level 3 in your garrison, you'll get an extra 20% extra rep, or 300 more. If you're human, the Diplomacy racial ability gives another 10% rep, or 150 more. If you use all three, you can get 2100 rep from a single turn-in. (The percentage increases are added, rather than multiplied with each other).

I used to hate this daily (well, I still do, just not as much anymore), until I found a good spot to complete it in. The place is called "Ironmonger's Hold", with the entrance being located at 38,44.

It's a mine located right outside of Ironhold harbor. The place is largely un-inhabited from other players due to it not being inside of the Ironhold harbor daily progress range. You'll find a bunch of chests inside you can loot that contain the apexis fragments as well as garrison resources. There are at least 2 rares that spawn inside the mines too which also drop the fragments.

The only real downside is that the place is swarming with pale orcs, but they're easy to kill especially if your ilvl is remotely high.

How to do this quest ultra-efficiently once you're over Tanaan and you just want to be in and out for your rep as fast as possible:

Step 0: Do any other dailies you plan to do and kill rares/loot chests you find.
This step is not required, but if you're going to do other stuff you may as well do it first.

Step 1: Cruise over to Fang'rila and mooch/summon the champions. Check out Dillybar's post for details on this.

Crystal count: 6

Others have commented on various respawning treasures you can go get. This is totally viable, but I hate running all over the place, so here's an alternative that I think is faster:

Step 2: There are three easy to access rares right in Fang'rila: Kell the Serene, Soulslicer, and Gloomtalon. This area is not super high traffic and it should not take you very many realm hops to find each of these up. Crossrealm assist and handynotes will make this much easier.

**If you CRZ into a raid group, make sure you leave the raid after engaging the rare or you will not be able to loot a crystal**

If you don't have an agro dump you will have to pick your route carefully and you might have to kill a few adds. Be especially careful to avoid agroing Blackfang Hunters, they will net you. All in all this step should be doable in about 5-8 minutes once you get the hang of it, depending on your gear. You can use your artillery strike to kill the rares quickly.

Crystal count: 9

Step 3: If you did anything else in Tanaan you should be done now. If not fire up your Master Hunter's Seeking Crystal for a free port to the last rare you need.

That's it. If you have decent gear and there are other people helping with the Fang'rila arena bosses this can be done in 10 minutes. For mediocre gear it might take 15 minutes. If your character is too weak to kill mobs in Fang'rila then you should stick to the treasure finding method until you loot more baleful.

I have seen a couple of posts suggesting using the Rumble In The Jungle weekly. This is a great idea, but the method I use is to use the premade group finder under custom and find a group by typing "rumble" in the search box. There's usually at least one group that pops up, join it, and kill the 3 mobs. You can do this once per day, and I usually get 5 frags for the daily, plus I never buy the totems to summon because the leader of the group usually has them already.

Found a pretty good spot in Zeth'gol where you can server hop to farm a chest. Its a quick way to get 10 fel-corrupted apexis fragments or garrison resources/baleful gear if you're looking for that. If you're server hopping, chances are you're going to be in a raid group. If you're in a raid group these fragments won't drop from the chest. You can get past this however by first tagging a mob to put you in combat, then dropping the group, and grabbing the chest before you kill the mob.

Each chest drops 1-3 fragments, ~40 garrison resources, and sometimes a 650 baleful token

Update 8/19/15:

If that Zeth'gol spot is a little crowded, you can try another spot called "Ironmonger's Hold" located at . Its basically a big cave system with around 12 chest spawns. It also has 2 rares. I farmed it for about 2 hours and made a map of all of the chests I found. Farming during late night when no one is online averages around 60 chests per hour if you use the server hopping method.

If you just want the fragments you should be able to complete the quest with ~5 chests, but if you want some Garrison Resources and Ilvl 650 baleful tokens I gathered some stats for my 1 hour run. At a rate of 60 chests per hour you should get approximately:

2100 Garrison Resources
10 Ilvl 650 baleful tokens
and easily 10 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment

Not a bad way to farm resources for people that are desperate for them!(as I am...darn shipyard) Like I said this was with little to no competition. Your numbers will probably be lower if you try this at peak hours.

nobody else seems to have mentioned this for some reason, but in the Ruins of Kranaak area of Tanaan Jungle, which is occasionally part of a bonus objective quest, you can loot fragments contained in stones on the ground or attached to trees. they sparkle to make them more clearly visible. they are called Radiating Apexis Shard. here is an image:

they can drop more than one apexis fragment, the one in the screenshot here for example i looted 2 from.

keep a careful eye out for them, because there are sparkling brown buff seeds called Taanan Camu Seed that are also lying on the ground and are much more common.

my preference for this quest is to loot the 6 from the Rumble in the Jungles bosses, and then to just come to Ruins of Kranaak and quickly loot a couple of these shards. they can be found in a few other locations of Tanaan as well if you look at the item page but my preference is Ruins of Kranaak.

Too easy, when you do the Ruins of Kra'nak daily, they grow in that area, including one spot under water. Very easy run, even if you aren't doing the Ruins of Kra'nak daily. I got all I needed in about 10 minutes, avoiding many of the NPCs in that area, and if you're 100 with iLvl 650+ it should be no problem. Except now I've told everybody and the crowds are on.

With the release of this patch, the Fangrila champions no longer provide six fragments. Only Eyepiercer gives three fragments now. The other two are still good for Apexis Crystals, though.

Horrible Horrible quest. I hate this quest. I am trying to get my Draenor flying after coming back to WoW and getting to revered with Order of The Awakned is HORRIBLE. Like you couldn't put in ONE more quest? really?

Tips (or steps to get the corrupted apexis, faster, which i use)
- get the "Handy Notes" addon, or similar addon, and put the icon size for rares to "1" (since you do not want them to overlap on the current icon of the rares, which you will see with white skull on the minimap, if spawned). The rares shown by this addon, are with blue skulls.
- travel by mount through the griphon masters, on the road, but with deviation to the spots where more blue skulls are shown (it is preffered a circular pattern since you have a greater coverage and it is faster). This is done to check the spots where elites usually spawn. If you see a grey skull on the minimap, go kill the rare and take the apexis.
- you might spot treasures, usually outside. Where more rares are shown on map, more treasures might be.
Helpful video settings: view distance and environment detail (since you can spot them from far away). Treasures are shown with a purple border/outline. If you see purple outline object, go and fetch the treasure.
- after geting Hunter's Seeking Crystal use it periodically while traveling in order to make the quest faster

PS: this is based on personal experience
PSS: i managed to do the quest this morning, in about 10 minutes

This is bizarre.

Rumble in the Jungle (which awards 6 of the fragments for this quest) awards 3500 rep with the Saberstalkers, which is a faction that allows players to grind by killing mobs.

This quest, though, only awards 1500 rep (1800 with garrison bonus) with Order of the Awakened, a faction that doesn't allow grinding, not to mention that this takes significantly longer than the other quest and can involve killing MANY more rares.

Horrible quest and faction design. I sincerely hope these factions get changed drastically when Legion drops and Blizz has abandoned the pipe dream of ending flying.

Tips and updated information:

The three champions at Fang'rila no longer give x6 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment, instead they now give x3 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment in total and only the last champion drops the loot.

Rares re-spawn every once in a while, but you can only loot from the same rare once per day. Treasures are different, you can only loot them once and they will never re-spawn.

You are unable to loot Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment in a raid group, neither from boxes or rares.

You can purchase Hunter's Seeking Crystal once you gained Honored with Order of the Awakened. This is an item that teleport you to a nearby spawned rare with a 15 minute cool-down.

You should complete Rumble in the Jungle first to grab King of the Jungle and x3 Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment, continue with Assault Dailies and Bonus Objectives. Use Hunter's Seeking Crystal if you struggle to find the last few Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragment.

Use Group Finder (I) to search for groups across realms to speed up and prevent unwanted PVP encounters.

You can also get them from Radiating Apexis Shard. The absolute best place for farming these is Farlight Terrace north of Ruins of Kra'nak. They are lying everywhere - easy to find without really looking. Beaware though there are lvl 100 elite mobs - easy though as a lvl 110 mage. Only took maybe 3 mins to pick them all up today as it was a ghost town

With CRZ being implemented into Draenor zones in the Legion pre patch, it was a pain trying to kill rares as most were being killed before I could reach them. But thanks to a couple Medallions of the Legion, I got my Draenor Pathfinder in late December 2016.

If youre like me and this quest seems sorta daunting, dont worry cuz it's not. Just accept all your dailies at your outpost, ~~go to fang'rila, accept and complete that daily (even if youre done grinding saberstalker rep),~~ then go and finish your outpost dailies while killing any star mobs, or picking up purple treasures, along the way.

i was a bit vexed by this quest. but then for the past couple days i noticed that purple treasures and star mobs are everywhere.

One spot that can be quick for doing this is the Cave of Betrayal at 37.5 75.9. It has a couple of rare spawns and several chests in a small area, although you do have to do a little jumping puzzle to reach many of them.

Getting 10 "Fel-Corrupted Apexis Fragments" is way easier now than it used to be.

- Kill the 3 saberon in Fangrila for 6 fragments.
- Fly around and kill "regular" rares which show up as stars on the minimap for 1-2 fragments each.

Takes about 15 minutes. Repeat for a couple weeks. Done.
