Killing Gokk'lok, a 16mil HP elite Clam underwater @ 27.4-16.2, Dread Wastes (northwest corner of the zone) will grant you this quest. Rikkitun Chanters will then bring the clam pearl to their village where you can turn the quest in.

As of build 15913, the fight is still easy to solo but boring as hell, the elite clam absolutely does nothing but standing still. Adds come to aid it from time to time, and that's all. The whole fight is underwater but you've been granted Enchanted Essence, so you won't need to swim up at all.

To add to Voxxel's description, the nature of the adds varies greatly. In the earlier stages of the fight the adds are relatively weak but numerous (a pack of three) or a single level 90 mob. There are, however, increasing appearances of elite mobs as time wears on. I noticed adds would appear generally more than a minute after the last one was killed. (As a Blood DK I was basing it off of the Raise Dead cooldown as well as one of the Klaxxi enchantments). I can't speak for how hard hitting they are since I practically absorb every hit, so I cannot say if it would be a challenge to certain squishier classes.

Appears to spawn adds every 10% HP lost (90%, 80%, etc). Feel free to confirm this.

Doesn't appear to melee you if you stand close to it. Doesn't target you if you're at range. Does target you when you're close to it however, which I found slightly creepy.

As for adds, I DPS'ed this as a Balance Druid (so a fairly sturdy caster) and nothing hurt particularly except the seahorse mobs. Even the non-elite versions of these which spawned in pairs packed a fair punch.

As a side note, the "Angel of Death" buff which calls down Kil'ruk the Wind Reaver still works here, so move to the clam when adds are up and the "Angel of Death" debuff is off for a little extra damage on the clam.

Soloed as LvL 90 Ret Pally. Had the Klaxxi buffs Raining Blood & Seek and Destroy.

Fight took a few minutes with adds coming in every so often. Just aggro them with AOE, pop defensive CDs and burn. Switch to giant clam to keep Unstable Serum stacks going. Rinse & repeat.

Remember to AOE loot when you're done with the fight.

Pick up auto-pop quest, turn in - enjoy being buttnaked on a clamshell!

Sadly, this quest does not reward Klaxxi reputation, which is why I initially did it.

The fight itself is not difficult. The boss does no damage, and you can freecast on it as much as you want. There are three sets of three adds, though.

The boss itself also has 16.3m.

First Set
Group of 5-6 Murlocs with about 31k HP each.
Group of 2-3 with about 400k HP each.
A single add with 1.2m HP.

Second Set
Group of 5-6 Murlocs with about 31k HP each.
Group of 2-3 Seahorses with about 400k HP each.
A single Seahorse with 1.2m HP.

Second Set
Group of 5-6 Murlocs with about 31k HP each.
Group of 2-3 Fish with about 400k HP each.
A single Fish with 1.2m HP.

All in all, it took me about 4 minutes to do the fight as a frost mage. I used Raining Blood as my Klaxxi buff.

Just completed this as a 90 fury warrior. Used raining blood and battle hymn, was able to cleave off the adds to keep myself healed up. One thing I noticed is that the adds despawned when the oyster died, so if you're tanky enough you can just blow up the clam thing and ignore the adds.

Might I ask if a l 89 can do this? I never fought the thing an i'm interested if I outa wait till my hunter is 90, or if the quest is auto at 89? The xp an rewards look worth while. Of course i could do this on my main Rouge but still.

ugh... I was VERY determined. I finally got this on my 88 mage... took FOREVER. The adds will agro on you if you just stand still, even for ranged. I finally got this by going all the way up to the top (not underwater at all) and made slow circles above the clam when I saw one of the elites pop into view.

Just take your time and watch the elites, slow and steady you can get this!

You get this quest automatically after killing Gokk'lok, a very large clam in the northwest seas of Dread Wastes. His coords are 27,16. The reward is Gokk'lok's Shell, a fun item that spawns an open clamshell that you dance on.

Killing Gokk'lok isn't very difficult, it just takes a long time because of his massive 16.3 million health pool. He doesn't do any actual attacks, he just sits there. The only trouble is that he spawns adds every so often. They seem to come at every 10% interval of his health.

Here are the mobs in order:

4 Spindlegrin Hatchlings
1 Spindlegrin Remora
1 Elder Spindlegrin (elite)
5 Brinyfin Darters
2 Brinyfin Trumpeters
1 Brinyfin Partriarch (elite)
6 Seacarp
3 Overgrown Seacarp
1 Colossal Seacarp (elite)

The trumpeters are probably the worst of the bunch. Once you kill Gokk'lok he will eject the pearl and it's then dragged to shore by a bunch of Rikkitun Chanters. They start running up the hill with it and you meet them at Chief Rikkitun (38,17) to turn in the quest.

As a level 90 shadow priest with questing gear (ilvl 434) killing Gokk'lok took me 24 minutes. You don't have to worry about drowning because being in the vicinity of Gokk'lok grants you underwater breathing from the automatic Enchanted Essence buff. I stood as close as possible to him to avoid aggroing mobs swimming by. I would recommend getting buffs from the Klaxxi to help you (here's an explanation of those). I used the Angel of Death Klaxxi Enhancement from Kil'ruk the Wind-Reaver and the Painkiller Klaxxi Augmentation from Korven the Prime. Some of the enhancements/augmentations may not be available to you, depending on how much of the Klaxxi questline you have completed.

A note to Mac users: If you die, when you get back to your corpse you won't be able reach it without diving. Remember to hold down the command button, click, and pull back with two fingers to drop into the water.

Just tried doing this at level 87 with a level 90 buddy, and Grokk'lok doesn't seem to drop the quest unless you are level 90.
