Be sure you have a felpuppy dispelling the buff he puts up and try to mitigate as much damage as you can with Shadow Ward and Spell Lock.

I did this with a normal affliction warlock raiding spec. Just take it easy and remember to heal up between fights. Sometimes you might get stuck in combat but take the few minutes to apply few bandages and get enough HP so you won't die. Dying here means you are going to have to do everything all over again. Use drain life as your filler, have healthstone ready etc. No need to be overly prepared though.

Sentinels + dogs:
Have the NPC tank the sentinel, dispel the sentinel and kill dogs relatively fast.

Some hounds that comes when you are breaking though a ice wall:
Dodge the flame thingie the dog casts and you should be fine.

Platforms:
Make your way to the other side by jumping on platforms and killing the mobs in your way.
I'm not sure if you are supposed to interrupt the "massive shadow damage spell" (actual warning) since my pet despawned and I couldn't get another one. But I simply used shadow ward and survived it without much of a problem.

Last boss:
Run away from the tracking beam (debuff: tracking).
2-3 adds with ~80k HP will join one at the time. They are easy enough.
Very easy, finished with full hp and mana.

I just did this as a moonkin and I have to say this is the hardest quest Ive tried in a long time. The amount of damage you take on some of these parts just gets insane for something that is solo

The last boss specifically is hard, to kill it I more or less stayed in caster form keeping full hots on myself while keeping dots on the boss. Use natures Grasp on the adds that come in and dot them and use typhoon to keep them at bay. Once the boss shifts positions START RUNNING, he will do his beam and being caught in it hurts. If an add is free while this happens it can easily daze you causing the beam to catch up, very painful. I was contemplating wether going Resto would just be easier overall since, sure itll die slower but you have a much greater chance for survival. Died 3x before finally getting it.

As a shaman, I have to say.... I have no clue as to how to defeat the last boss. Being unable to spell-lock and with no HoTs, I either spend time healing myself through the damage as he plasters me with bolts or chipping away at his health while he destroys me. There seems to be no middle ground. Any shamans that have beaten him willing to give me some advice? Thanks in advance!

To those having difficulty with the end boss, u need to look out for the self heal he does. As a mage, it's imperative that u spellsteal it, all other classes need to dispel it otherwise you'll get nowhere.

General comments :

For the pack with a Sentinel + 2 hounds, where the alliance/horde boss used to be in original nexus : be very careful to kill the hounds first, then the sentinel. If you kill the sentinel first, Tarecgosa will put you in an iceblock to protect you (this is part of the event), but then the hounds will break it, and you will get killed for nothing.

Also, when the iceblock breaks, you will have a snare debuff for 10 seconds, while Tarcegosa runs ahead of you. She will leave the room, then an ice wall will block the way. This is normal. Don't try to run past with her, it will make the NPCs bug, you will get trained, and you will die.

Now to answer Morigann :

The last boss is very easy as an elemental shaman.

Make sure you have the AE root in your spec and a couple of survival talents will help too.
Make sure Thunderstorm is not minor glyphed (the knockback will help with the little adds), and make sure you do have the stoneclaw totem glyph, for nice absorbs.

Three things you need to know to make this fight trivial :
- you can (must) interrupt his twilight bolts. after a successfull interrupt, he will not cast anything for a little while, use that time to cast a couple of greater healing waves, and you're at full hp.
- you must purge his twilight renovation right away. watch for the buff, or look at him. the huge pink bubble is a not so subtle hint.
- you must dodge his laser beam, and the flames that appear wherever the laser beam goes. hopefully if you're on this quest, you know how to dodge a dragon breath, and you know NOT TO STAND IN FIRES =)

For the adds that pop once in a while, I used the Fire elemental, since if you try to stick him on the boss, he will be his usual retarded self and do nothing.
He will bug out after he kills an add, so just pop Searing instead when no adds are up, then redrop Fire elemental to take care of the next add (using 2T12 bonus to have multiple fire elems during the fight, I guess you have that bonus already if you're on this quest).
If Fire elemental is not up yet, then Earth elemental is good too, to keep an add off your back while you burn the boss, but be sure to toss a couple of flame shocks on the add, cause Earth elemental hits like a mouse.

To add a bit of extra to this bit about doing Thyrinar as an Elemental Shaman, I did the following:

Spec: 32/7/2
I realize now that I could've potentially added Charred Glyph instead of Charred Glyph - but I guess that varies on how safe you want to play it.

Worth to add is the following:

Interrupt the Twilight Blast as much as possible. This should, optimally, be every second cast. Use and to mitigate damage, whenever possible.
Whenever Twisting Twilight is being cast, run like hell. Be sure to start at a good position, so you don't end up in a dead end, or in a place where your movement is gimped.
Purge Twilight Restoration as fast as possible!
Use Thunderstorm and Earthbind Totem and your Elementals to manage the Twilight Invaders, and add in some burst whenever you can. Having 2 of these up will - no doubt - kill you. The nasty ones are those that join the fight just before or during the breath.
Go nuts when Tarecgosa uses Essence of the Blue - and Bloodlust earlier when you're in trouble, or just want to hammer the boost.

Besides that, most of the things posted above applies, naturally, but I can safely say that it's NOT easy if you're slightly under-geared and/or do not have the 2-set bonus. I did a ton of tries, but eventually succeeded. :)

I found this quest INSANLY difficult as a warlock. I tried several different custom specs from all the trees. Eventually what worked, was a survival affliction spec like most have mentioned

I decided to not take soul swap because glyphed, it will not always be available, and Thyrinar NEEDS to have near 100% uptime on dots, it's very hard to heal yourself enough when you have to spend 3gcds dotting him up.

Haunt is important to keep up, but not as important as having 3 dots for maximum drain life effect.

I keybound devour magic, spell lock, coe, and pet attack target to my mouse, but if you can't do that, know that having these spells keybound is a gamebreaker. you NEED to be able to coe the adds and get your pet tanking them, instantly, while on the move. use your instant dots (agony and corruption) and if you find yourself out of range of the boss, apply UA and drain life spam the add till it is dead. it takes very little time for it to die with only 2 dots up though.

You'll need to get used to the frequency that he applys his healling buff. It's important that if you think he is about to do it to not move your pet to an add before stealing it.

This fight IS buggey, sometimes the pet dies in about 2 shots from adds, sometimes he glitches out in the middle. The key to him not glitching is to always make sure he is in range whenever trying to spell lock or devour magic. Make sure you are regularly silincing the boss, in order to get a little catch up time for healing. the best time is right after a beam, but before the next add.

don't worry too much about shadowbolting, they take too long and drain life filler is still pretty good dps. Also, try to fel flame as much as possible whenever you are moving, this can end up being as high as 7% of your damage, and you won't have to waste globals getting more dots up for better drain life healing.

I used fel armor (it seemed to have better healing overall, and more useful healing, than demon armor), flask, int food, and dark intent on my pet with soul link up. i didn't glyph soul link, but that would have most likly helped,

Try to use your guardians as an extra defensive cooldown if you get a little behind on adds, although, you're most likly screwed if you have 2 adds up at a time.

I found myself not needing to fear when things were going right. coe kiting and pet tanking worked very very well. However, it only worked when it worked. I felt like I had to get lucky with my pet wanting to stay alive or not. I'm not sure if it's bug related (didn't notice if he had immunity or resistance to the fire, but i don't think he did) or just luck, but some attempts my pet was a rockstar and others he was worthless.

When you get the haste buff start drain souling, but only after you get yourself to around 75% health, and don't rush things and lose control of the adds. I died at 160k hp because I got excited and it took me another hour to down him.

Mainly, the game breakers are keybinds. The damage comes out SOOO FAST that you have ZERO time to be messing around. everything you do needs to be done yesterday. having easy and fast keybinds for key abilities, (the most important ones are pet attack, coe, devour, and spell lock) will dramatically improve your chances at winning this fight. when i was able to coe, pet attack, corruption, bane of agony, with zero gap in gcds, the fight totally opened up for me and i was able to get enough damage and healing done that I could manage the fight.

Also, try to always start on one side of the room and t-port to the other and just wait a bit for the breath. since it doesn't follow your path, it chases you directly, it's very important you put it exactly where you want it, getting cut off from adds or the boss can be very costly. i generally put all the fire on the front of the platform, kiting back and forth.

I think that's basically it, keep 3 dots up at all times, drain life filler, fel flame on the move as much as possible, pet tank and instant dot the adds with coe. remove buff, silence when you need just a little catch up. OH, MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING SHADOW WARD ON COOLDOWN this will save you a lot of damage and can quickly become a gamebreaker when you get a little behind on your healing, which you will at least a couple times during the fight.

If you're having trouble with the first part of the encounter, kill dogs before big guys. demo is best for the first half. wait to kill the 3 dogs BEFORE going up the gauntlet ramp. meta immo aura, hellfire, felstorm up the ramp makes it trivial. fear interrupt the huge shadow novas, and use the orbs on the big platforms. kill the dogs on the ground before switching to the big platform and going down. But honestly, anybody can learn the first half in about 2-3 wipes.

after a couple of weeks i decided to come back and see how others are doing in this quest (especially locks since i am one and this quest is infact quite difficult for locks) and yes u are absolutely right.. i was telling my friend on vent while doing this that this is all about keybinds.. as u said u didnt have interrupt or dispell or cox on keybinds u found it hard.. but i guess u didnt find the encounter hard.. what u found hard was ur ability to instictly react and press what u bind u needed to press and since these were new binds or even if u clicked them.. i bet u had to glance at ur keyboard to check what bind it was.. (or well that was the discussion i had with my friend on vent) but i do have to say if u play affliction pvp .. this is a walk in the park cos all the spells u need for this fight are always used in pvp afflic.

For mage, I HIGHLY recommend going frost for this. It makes the encounter ezmode, but just know that your wet pet won't attack. (He can still range nova.)

I actually put on my PvP gear for this, with dps trinks, but its probably not necessary.

Oh, and DON'T counterspell Twilight Restoration... SPELL STEAL IT!

Did this quest as a moonkin. It wasnt a walk in the park, but also not extremely hard.
Smart usage of roots, hibernate and mushroom slow is the key for the trash.
I also nearly died to the little elementals in the iceblocks, they only have 8k hp but hit like truck.
Just don't try brute force and run trought, kill them one by one and heal yourself in between packs.

As for the endboss, he wasn't very hard. Just kill the first add, do as much dmg as you can, hot yourself.
Use treans for the second add, by the time boss should be at aprox. 900k hp, then just continue nuking and kill the 3rd add if it comes. In my case boss was dead as 4th add spawned.

I'm not sure but it seemed that he doesn't cast Twilight Restoration on himself, can some other druids confirm this? Don't know if this is kinda specific class adoptation since we can't purge or spellsteal this buff and it would be extra hard for a druid.

O.k. Let's get the literary/cultural references sorted out.

Yes, the King James translation of The Bible reads in I Corinthians, Chapter 13, verse 12, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face...." However, the committee that made the King James Version (KJV) relied heavily on prior translations including John Wycliffe's Middle English translation (ca. 1390) and The Great Bible (1538) prepared for King Henry VIII under the direction of Sir Thomas Cromwell. In particular the KJV translators used the most popular version of The Bible to that time, The Geneva Bible in which the verse from I Corinthians reads, "For now we se through a glasse darkely: but then shall we se face to face." That phrase, I believe, has antecedents in Roman and Greek sources.
The phrase itself means that we currently perceive one another and the imperatives of our religion imperfectly as through a dark, obscured pane of glass though once we reach paradise we will see clearly without any obstruction.
As with many of the great poetic phrases popularized by the KJV over the last 500 years, "through a glass, darkly" has inspired a number of literary references in many forms including poetry, novels and a very notable film by the great Swedish director, Ingmar Bergman. Though I haven't located the specific reference I believe that there is a story by H. P. Lovecraft that references the phrase directly. Lovecraft's works form one of the main underpinnings of the lore of WoW as witness just C'thun and Yogg-Saron among others.
The point here is that what we now call "sampling" in music has a long history that goes back to Babylonians were quoting Hittite texts and vice versa. We seldom have the reference. We more often have a reference, the one with which we are most familiar.

This quest was AWFUL as priest. Psychic scream is your best friend here.
I did the first part as shadow, with the hardest place being the 3 dogs that come at you. Fear them, nuke one down, dispel them, fear again when you can and nuke.
The boss I did as Disc because I couldn't stay alive long enough as shadow. It takes a long time to kill him then but not too hard when you get into a good "rotation". I'd dot the boss and dispel him but otherwise I only focused on adds and keeping up shield and renew, could get maybe 1 smite in on boss at times. Again here I feared the add that comes when he does the flames on the floor and most times I had time to put a holy fire on it first.

I went through on my shadowpriest pve spec. I think I died about 4 times through the entire instance, but mostly it was to that pack of 3 dogs that destroy you when tarecgosa gets distracted. to overcome, I saved my shadowfiend for them, and then faded. all three dogs attacked my shadowfiend, and I was free to blow them up without risk of getting silenced. I didn't die to the platforms or the boss thereafter. PW: Shield was my friend. All in all, it was a pretty challenging quest.

As a Warlock all I had to do was:

- Respec my affliction pve to basically pvp (31/10/0)
- Use Demon Armor
- Fel Hunter to purge the boss
- Spam Drain Life

Very easy to do that way!

Edit: Demonic Aegis and Demonic Rebirth are very very useful for this quest.

I had difficulty with this quest as an affliction warlock. I'm almost ashamed to admit how many times I wiped in this dungeon. Eventually, I made just the right constellation of changes and everything fell into place and it was relatively easy as some are reporting. Here's what I did to make the dungeon easy rather than mind numbingly difficult. Hopefully some might fight this useful.

I did respec to 31/10/0. I know some probably did this successfully with a standard affliction raid spec, I just couldn't keep my pet alive w/o points in Fel Synergy that would come in a more raid standard 32/3/6 affliction spec. Plus Demonic Aegis really helped a great deal. I also glyphed Bane of Agony and Felhunter for extra damage and heals as I was not using shadowbolts and instead opted for a Drain Life filler to stay alive. I did NOT use Demon Armor as I found that I got as good (or better) healing from using Fel Armor and keeping my dots up.
I did switch to my Demo spec at one point. Just after I killed the three dogs (as affliction: abuse Soul Swap liberally on this quest btw) after being ice-blocked. By switching to demo here, I just Metamorphosis/ Immo Aura / Hellfired my way up the ramp with little to no difficulty with adds. I've also seen this done just staying affliction using Fel Flame. The hellfire route was simple.
Killing the dog when Taregosa does her 'breathe fire on the icewall' thing = simple. Just beat the hell out of the doggy and move when he starts to cast his spellflame or whatever. Simple basic mechanic and it shouldn't really cause trouble.
Also simple was the platform room. Just use Drain Life liberally as a filler and when killing the big adds, make sure to click the orbs around the platform to give yourself a shield. However, even if you don't do this to avoid shadow nova damage you'll probably be okay as you can soak one of these without dying...then it just becomes a matter of dpsing them down prior to a second shadow nova. A final note here...once you're on the big platform, be sure you kill the little adds that pop up from below and don't accidentally engage a big add on another big platform. You can survive if you do this (easily actually) but it doesn't help you get through any faster and it will take a chunk out of your health.
Thyrinar. Last fight was the tough one for me. As noted I used a drain life filler in addition to my dots (and I did use Bane of Agony for easy soul swapping).
1. First thing I did was (as noted above) put my Felhound on passive.
2. Set Thyrinar as focus and use one of the focus macros noted above. For simplicity I actually macro'd my Shadow Ward (to ensure a high uptime for mitigating blast damage) and Devour Magic (for purging the restorative buff) effects together on a single button. I also made a spell lock macro for interrupting twilight blast. They looked something like this:

Remember: for these to work you've got to get up close to the boss (30 yard range of the felhunter). So, start close and keep an eye on your felpup's range from the boss.

3. Adds kept killing me. So, into my standard Haunt, BoA, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, Drain Life and Soul Swap, Macroed in the following petattack command (as this made my pet automatically attack the add as soon as it was targetable. Even if I hadn't gotten my dots up on it yet.

Because I was 2/2 in Fel Synergy my pet was quite durable and could take the beating associated with tanking adds. This allowed me to cast a quick soul swap to get my dots up on the add and then switch back to the boss. This step was probably the most integral to my success on this fight. With my Felpuppy tanking the add I was able to very easily kill Thyrinar on my first try with this new strategy. I didn't even need to fear or shadowflame an add at all. Between my dots and my dog adds died easily.

These changes (after a lot of wipes) made all the difference for me. Made a difficult encounter quite simple really.

the biggest game changers for me:
- Dont use soul link (unless you respec into fel synergy) - my pet was always at half health and by the time I got to the second add, he would be dead, as would I soon afterwards
- your felpup bugs out a lot when trying to purge the buff (this was the most frustrating thing), but if you stand close to the boss at all times (aside from when youre dodging fire), it should work consistently
- soulburned drain life + healthstone can save your butt
- Use shadow ward on CD

This is indeed a tough quest for a warlock. Here's how I did it, and how I suggest you do it:

First, spec Demonology to get through the gauntlet of frozen adds. The ability to Hellfire while running makes it trivial, just run through with Hellfire going.

For the platforms: click on the glass orbs on the enemy's platform when he is casting the nova. But don't cast anything after you click, wait to get the green shield. Sometimes casting will prevent the shield from appearing, and the nova can kill you if you're not at full health.

Next up the hardest part by far: Thyrinar. Go affliction and spec talents that give you survival: Aegis in Demo (extra healing), extra stamina in Demo, instant howl of terror (affliction), and all other heal-increasing talents in Affliction. Glyph for better life/mana from a soulstone rez, for more life from a healthstone, and for soullink. Summon a Felhunter.

When you fight the boss your felhunter can easily get stuck because the pathing on the top area is awful. Manually move your felhunter to the edge of the platform where Thyrinar spawns, pre-pop a Shadow Ward and Volcanic Potion, set Thyrinar on focus, and when he pulls interrupt his first cast with your felhunter. This moves him to the middle of the platform (since he's spell-locked). Blow everything early, this is your least-crazy part of the fight.

When he gets Twilight Restoration you need your felhunter to be able to reach him to dispell/eat it. Eat it immediately, it's a 10k/sec heal and 50% damage reduction for him. Keep your Haunt up, Drain Life as much as you can, and use Shadow Ward and the Felhunter's spell lock on the boss on CD.

Shortly after Twilight Restoration, he'll do a breath attack that chases you. Kite it around the edge of the platform, that way it's less likely your felhunter will stand in it and die. When he finishes, soul swap inhale off the boss. An add will spawn, exhale onto it and fear it.

Rinse and repeat this.

All in all, this is a rather tough fight for a warlock. You have to use the felhunter to stop any casts and to purge his buff, but the felhunter otherwise can't reach the boss to attack it. If you keep the felhunter set in one location, and that location gets fire in it, the felhunter dies. But because the pathing is awful, if you move the felhunter around with attacks he'll end up too far away from the boss at some point and unable to purge the debuff (so you'll have to manually move him mid-fight while dodging breath attacks and keeping up your rotation).

I recommend saving your Soulburn for emergencies: if the felhunter dies, you want to be able to immediately soulburn for an instant resummon. Set a soulstone on yourself before the fight, you can rez and continue if you die during it if you're quick.

Oh, one other tip: I've read about some warlocks that run down the ramp to engage the mobs before they reach the top. The catch is that if you run down the ramp when he's doing breath attacks, you'll leave fire all over and be unable to get back up top (unless you're in range of your teleporter). I ran down the ramp for the first guy, but then fought the others up top using DoTs + Fear + sicking the Felhunter on them (and manually repositioning it when I needed to purge the bosses healing buff). I kept the boss as a focus target, so I could easily target him after I switched off to an add.

When the boss is at 15%-20% health or so, you'll get a large haste buff that makes it easier.

Some additional tips/tricks

1) For everyone saying you need to dual spec afflic/demo, no not really.

Affliction is where it's at and it's all you need.

For the gauntlet, there is no need to go demo, just drop Infernal the moment the first set of adds in the gauntlet get released. The infernal will travel with you up the gauntlet and even still be alive and AOEing when you are past it.

I did the gauntlet about 3x the same way, always at >50% health left in my afflic spec at the end.

2) When you die to the end boss, you don't have to do the 'trash' except...

If you log out, and try again the next day. I did this last night, was really tired and knew I was making stupid mistakes so I logged out, did it this morning and had to do the trash all over again. Not a big deal but just a warning.

3) Affliction Spec (PVE vs PVP-ish spec)

I was able to PVE affliction spec everything except the end boss.

The adds are brutal, as is the damage from the dragon so you really want/need soul link, but if you do, your pet will die so you at least need fel synergy. To keep up mana etc without life tapping (a further annoyance on your health), you also want mana feed. And finally, as others have pointed out, drain life is your filler here to get your health back up, so points in destro are wasted.

You also typically want your fel hunter to 'tank' the adds first so that they get their AOE off in proximty of your fel hunter and not you. With fel synergy, your pet can easily do this with no sweat.

I used a slightly different spec: 32/9/0 (not 31/10/0)

I didn't bother putting points in stamina. Really it's not about your health pool going into the fight that will save you but making sure you are doing the right things and staying self-healed as much as possible. Instead, I was able to get a little more utility out of the afflic tree.

4) Devour Magic and the dragon's buff

I learned this the hard way, and it's been stated similarly before, but your pet and you (if your pet is next to you on passive) must be close enough to the boss for devour magic to work. Usually that means you need to be on the side of the circle closest to the boss to give enough range. Being on the clear other side of the platform isn't enough (which can happen if you are proactively going for an add on the ramp)

5) Soul Swap Glyph or not

I went for glyph of soul swap because I didn't want to take my dots off the boss just to get an add down. However, the cooldown on soul swap is too long so it won't always be up for your next add. What I found was that I preferred using it on the 2nd and 4th add. The first add is cake so no need to soul swap it.

The reason to wait for around the 2nd and 4th add is that the dragon's fire breath seemed to coincide with those adds coming out. Running from fire breath is a PITA while also dealing with the add. By having your cooldowns available for the add that comes when fire breath comes, you'll be golden. I usually used my instant howl of terror during this time. I kept my deathcoil as well for emergencies in dealing with an add.

I suppose I could have forgone soul swap entirely. But having what is essentially an instant cast to throw 3 dots on the add while I am also running from the breath cone is pretty sweet. I'd give a thumbs up for soul swapping.

6) Spell Lock

Emphasizing what has been said before, spell locking the dragon is really important to recover from damage. His bolts hit for a ton. I tended to do this right when the add came out or after running from breath.

for the boss i kept my dots up the whole time as well as a shield on myself. dps when you can but watch for the dogs heading up the ramp. you can kill them before they get to you with 2 spikes and a MB. if they start to cast fire nova fear bomb 'em. run when the dragon tracks you (i just went in a circle around the platform) and make a macro to dispel your focus target. after all that you should get it done without issue

Strat for Boss:

Silence him whenever it is up, it pulls him to the platform and you can drop your fiend on him, and arcane torrent him, his melee is weaker than his casts. Keep your shield up at all times. Pay CLOSE attention to his breath, that will kill you in 3 ticks. When adds come fear them, then mindspike to death, then back on boss. Dispel his healing hot, although letting a few ticks of it go off won't ruin the fight as it only heals him for 10k every 5 sec or so.

If you have to break form to heal you are probably not shielding yourself, silencing enough, or not killing adds fast enough. I also spec'd into PW:Shield and reduced damage from spells.

I died 7 times, most of the deaths were not moving from the fire fast enough.

Make sure that after the frozen hall (the room where you regularly would encounter the first boss in Heroic Nexus along with the frozen Horde/Alliance soldiers), you do NOT run into the gauntlet after Tarecgosa. She casts a buff on you to make you immune to frost damage, so you can potentially run through the walls of frost, but in addition to all the frozen wraiths you have to fight, 3 Magic Hunters (the dogs) will come up behind you and can easily kill you during the next event where you fight the two sentries.

If you wait in that hall for the dogs to spawn, the door to the wraith gauntlet will close in front of you and open again after you kill the dogs.

Also, as a mage, it's a good idea to alternate using Mirror Image and Invisibility at the last possible moment for sentry encounters, as you only need one or the other to keep threat on Tarecgosa until the enemy dies.

Just did this as warlock. Very challenging untill I got a rhythm down.

Main things that worked for me. Custom aff spec with demo talents. Basically pvp spec.

Keep Curse of Tongues up on the boss at all times. Keep shadow Ward on cool down.

Get buffs from a friendly priest, shadow res is a life saver. Kings/MotW doesn't hurt either.

Dont be afraid to soulburn a health stone in a crisis. Health pots also useful.

As pointed out by others, you dot up and spam Drain Life for health. Try and keep Spell Lock on CD. Devour his heal. Whilst its best to do this asap, do not fail fire or have your pet run thru fire to do this. Basically you can always dps thru his heal, but recovering from large amounts of damage its usually fatal.. Avoiding fire is the number one priority. Have your fell puppy stood near top of ramp so its closest to add when it comes in. I had pet attack macro'd up with my instant cast dots. When I saw an add coming up the ramp, I'd spam that. Apart from the occasional pet heal, that sorted the adds.
I personally tried the kiting the fire down the ramp and didn't get on so well. I kept finding my pet standing in the fire and dying. So I changed it up to kiting it in a semi circle on the platform opposite the ramp.
This had several advantages. My pet was always nearer adds than I was, and he was never stood in fire. And I was always in range of the boss and the add. Giving me plenty of time to life drain/heal my pet. Apart from the actual kiting I had barely had to move at all. When I did this, my pet didn't die at all.

I actually found the haste buff at the end to be slightly annoying, as it caused me to over aggro my pet unless I delayed dotting it up.

Notes on the trash:
After getting the portal to the boss. Leaving or logging out for any significant time will reset the trash. Seems to be roughly the same as for for conjured items, tho not 100% sure on that. Hearthing, respecing then going back was long enough for it to happen to me.

Warlock tips: Boss fight

So after spending ~2-3hrs trying to do this, this is what worked for me.

Boss:
-CoT works. Make sure you put it up on the boss!
-Full round of dots as best as you can and drainlife.
-The boss always does his breath after moving to a new position, so you can start per-running to make sure you do not get hit. You can not get hit by it.
Make sure you keybind and dispel the boss.

Adds:
What you have to do is to let your felhunter tank the adds.
As soon as the add reaches the platform, send your felhunter. .The ensure that he does not die make sure you have Fel Synergy. The felhunter may or may not be able to solo anyone add, so just throw a Corr and BoA to help him out.

The worst thing that can happened to you is that your felhunter dies with an add still up and during the breath. Therefore, you should soulburn a new pet when the current one if getting too low on dmg.

Shadow Priest tips:

First, ty to everyone that put comments in here. That helped so much. My biggest thing for me was when I calmed down and stopped stressing about it :)
Started first part in shadowform, boss, out of shadow so I could use pw:s, PoM, and renew. Didn't change anything on my regular shadow spec.
Start out, make sure to kill dogs first as they silence you. Mind Spike worked nicely with them. Stay out of icy thing that gets thrown at you periodically.
When you get to part where she iceblocks you, once it wears off you'll have a slow for a couple seconds. Once it wears off, 3 dogs will attack. I sent fiend onto middle one, faded, dotted up the 3 dogs and seared. If they come after you, fear and finish. Going up the walk way, I used Holy Nova to kill the little ghosty type guys. Just keep going all the way up killing them.
Finish off the two adds inside the room. She'll have you follow her and protect her. One large dog comes after you. Make sure to move out of his fire stuff.
Going over on the flying disk. Once you get close to guy to kill, click the gear for a protection buff. Gives mana back and stops a lot of the damage. There are four of them on each pedesal.
Once you get to other side, she will kill all the adds around you. Don't stop for long, they will respawn your first attempt at the boss.
Boss, make sure you have the lovely macro to cleanse his heal. I focus targetted him. I also used Power Auras to tell me when his regeneration was active. Dot him up, you'll get one cleanse, he'll move. Get ready for the Fire breath. I ran on the outside so I could end up in the middle close to him and ramp. Every time shield was up, I used it and PoM and renew. First add up the ramp, 3 mindspikes and mb sometimes, a death if needed. Second add up the ramp, I threw all 3 dots on him, bubbled, PoM, renew and got ready for the Breath. Same thing, around the edge, end up in middle to dot boss and cleanse his heal back. Rinse and repeat. Slow darn fight.

A couple more tips from an spriest perspective. The elementals in the gauntlet can easily be seared, if you dont want to break sform, make sure you keep moving so the respawns dont come after you.

For the end boss, the adds that come up the ramp, their fire nova (I think thats what it is called) hurts a lot of it goes off, and stuns you into his breath if that is what the boss is casting so try and cast your fear right as they cast nova. Make sure your scream isnt glyphed so they stay in place (like mine usually is for Beth), having the adds run off gives you a good chance to mind spike them down (I found DOTS just werent enough, especially if the add came up when I was running away from his breath).

Took a few attempts, but never had to heal myself, just kept shield up and as everyone has already said, the dispel focus macro is great for watching the boss when he heals. When he got to 3% I had an add up, but I just feared it and nuked the boss with DP :P

Arcane (Mage) Guide

Step 1:

Alright, so, you've accepted the quest, you enter the Nexus and you see a Dragon waiting for you! It's Tarecgosa again (who upon you greeting her, suddenly transforms herself into a keeb and asks you to 'stay' close) .. just follow her. She'll invis you and you will continue onto the first room which will spawn 2 dogs, and one giant add. I found it helpful to cc one of the dogs, then start blasting the other one down. Tarecgosa is hitting the giant at this point, so she has pretty good aggro. The dogs will get a buff on them that I stole, with spell steal... if you can purge, or steal, or anything, it's highly recommended. Then, once that dogs down, kill the others -- t used frost nova to kite him, and being arcane with lots of burst, had them down quick. The giant is easy too, just don't let him hit you and stay out of $%^& on the ground.

Step 2:

After this phase, drink up, and follow Tarecgosa again. You will go up a hallway and avoid frost coming out of the walls. Super easy to avoid. Once you get down to the next ramp Tarecgosa will immediately start shooting at the giant add... so, I found it easy to sneak in and again, just cc one of the dogs, kill / spellsteal the other. It is VERY important here to kill BOTH of the dogs before killing the giant here. Reason being (learned the hardway) if you DON'T .. as part of the event, she iceblocks you, and if you are in that iceblock, with one of the dogs alive, he will come up, and try to eat you. Which would be fine, but this breaks your protective barrier from the 2 ELITES that run by who want to also, rip your throat out ..... just kill the damn dogs first, and you'll be fine!

Next, Tarecgosa puts a debuff on your (after she breaks your iceblock) which slows you. She will run ahead with a big add. Don't worry, this is still part of the event. The big add will follow her. But behind you will come 3 dogs. Just kill them, cc one if you can, they are the same dogs so you want to spellsteal/purge/pewpewpew.

Step 3:

After they are dead, start going up the hall. You will notice random iceblocks. Run past them and AOE. I used Arcane Explosion. They have little health so this worked fine. Then to your right, you'll notice 2 giants, you need to kill them in order to continue. Kill them, they have a buff that can be stolen/purged - do that and Tarcegosa will lead you to the next starting point.

THE GREAT THING ABOUT GETTING HERE IS: ... if you die, you'll get a portal.... finally IE: Kill those last 2 giants, and if you die on the next part,like me - you zone back into the Nexus and for once DON'T have to do it all over again! Wahoo!

Step 4:

This leads me to the next part. In front of Tarecgosa, just off the ledge, there are little floating discs, similar to the ones in EOE. Jump on them. Don't try to blink onto them because you didn't notice the vehicle enter button thingy. Click that. To confirm, don't jump/blink. Ok! So once you are on there you will start floating towards a platform, kill the dragon on it, then hop onto that dragons platform. Click the orbs on the side for a protective barrier, and start fighting the little adds that come out of nowhere (seriously, they scared me the first time). After this, you will be able to hop on the little disc again and rinse and repeat until a big scary dragon comes up, ---- fight him, and you get pushed "over the edge" to the other side. Once you are here, eat up and prepare for some more RP.

Step 5:

You will see Tarecgosa on the top of a ramp. Head up that ramp. Out of nowhere, another, bigger, scarier, dragon will come up - he's already had about 1/2 health, so this should be a piece of cake right? Yes, but there are some things to be aware of....

The three things you need to know to make this fight trivial :

► You have to interrupt his Twilight Bolts. After you do, he will not cast for a while, pew pew pew him now and heal yourself if possible.

► You must steal/purge his Twilight Renovation right away. Watch for the buff, or look at him, when it's on him it will look like he's inside of a bubble gum bubble. Once stolen (yay for mages) it will protect you :)

► You need to dodge his laser beam... don't stand in fire - durp!

Lastly, there will be an add (or two depending on how long it takes you to beat him) you can cc him if you want, I just chose to kill him, while doing the above key things. He didn't have much help. For this last fight, I popped time warp, my images and used all my CD's. While avoiding the 3 things I mentioned, it was a cake walk. Easiest part of the whole thing was the actual boss. Go figure!

Through a Glass, Darkly: 20 Usefull Tips for Warlocks
This is part of the questline to obtain 'Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest', the legendary cataclysm staff.

I decide to write this article because as a warlock I found the quest very very hard to complete. So, I wrote down a few tips that helped me make it throught the damn glass... LOL

The first and second parts are hard, but compared to the last boss they are cake, so I'm just talking about the final encounter.

01. Make sure to respec your talents and glyphs as I listed below;
02. Keep your Felhunter on Passive mode;
03. Buff Fel Armor, Soul Link and Dark Intent (on your pet);
04. Use flask and food buff. I also asked my brother to log his priest and cast a Shadow Protection and Fortitude on me. I think that helped. But remember: once you enter a group, the instance will reset (you don't need to be in a group to receive de buff);
05. You will want to keep the boss on /focus, so you can easyly target him, and you can even make some macros to help you;
06. Spells you want to cast on the boss: Curse of Elements, Bane of Doom, Haunt, Corruption and Unstable Affliction;
07. Spells you want to cast on the add: Curse of Exhaustion, Bane of Agony and Corruption;
08. Use Shadow Ward on colldown. Always;
09. Pay attention on a boss buff and Devour Magic it;
10. Whenever the boss is not casting the breath, Spell Lock him;
11. When add comes, send your pet on it and quick cast your DoTs (as 7). This should handle the add;
12. Death Coil and Howl of Terror (instant) whenever the add comes over you;
13. If you seem to have nothing to do (DoTs up and abilities on CD, no add, no fire) Drain Life boss;
14. If you have to walk, Fel Flame as much as possible, on boss or on the add;
15. Your pet will often (always) bug after the add is down, or after dispelling or interrupting, so remember to use Pet Follow after those actions;
16. Death comes to the Felhunter many times, so make sure you have shards to Soulburn and call him back quick. If you are running out of shards, Drain Soul on a dying add;
17. If you are full HP and all your DoTs ar up on the boss, feel free to Life Tap if you need mana;
18. Save Doomguard and Volcanic Potion for critical times, or on the end of the fight;
19. This fight can be done on the plataform and as an Aff Lock (I tried Demo, Destro rush, bug boss, pull boss down the plataform... nothing work, just don't waste your time trying);
20. It's all about skill, patience, luck and a deep knowlege of the class, specially the Affliction build.

As a shadow priest, the last boss was quite a trial for me. Just sharing some things that helped me in addition to the tips already given.

This is a fight more about survival than raw DPS (the buff from Tarecgosa will boost your damage a bit anyway). Your most important tools for reducing the incoming damage are Power Word: Shield and Silence (if you don't have it, and you probably won't, respec and get it). Make sure these are cast on cooldown, get a mod to help you keep track of these if you have to. I actually ended up configuring Mik's Scrolling Battle Text to create two giant mid-screen warnings whenever they were both off cooldown.

I also created macros for casting Dispel, Silence, and Shadow Word: Pain on my focus target (which was Thyrinar). This allowed me to focus on killing the adds and dodging the breath attack.

The adds have to die as fast as possible. These things were responsible for nearly every death I had on this boss (and there were a lot of deaths). If you spot them coming up the ramp, 3 Spikes followed by a Mind Blast will take care of them (tack on a Shadow Word: Death for good measure if you have to). If you get unlucky enough to have one start beating on you while you're dealing with a breath attack, fear it, then spam Devouring Plague on him until the breath is done. Then Spike/MB until it's dead. There'll probably be another add coming up very soon after this, so get ready for him. Don't forget to keep shielding and using your focus macros during all of this!

Bring along a healing potion in case of emergency, but if you have to stop and heal, there's a good chance you're just going to get overwhelmed by adds and then it's game over.

Try to stay cool, and stay alive, and eventually that fracking dragon will collapse in a heap on the platform. Good luck!

I´m gonna wait until they nerf this quest. Really no point in even trying this as a destru lock. I played destru in almost 5 years now since I don´t find the other speccs fun, and I´m not good on the other speccs either. Now I have to learn a new specc (affli) on a boss since it´s impossible to down him as destru. I can´t even play it! And I also have to kill a boss who´s OP to the stars. Ty Blizz for making destru specc totally worthless as a specc. I wounder if you even tried it as destru before the launch. It´s nice that you only can play 1 specc to be able to down the boss. Really *!@#ty if you ask me!

Druid Tips and Tricks (so far):

If you have access to even semi-decent feral gear, throw it on and dual spec into bear. The beginning part of this quest (right up to the part with the flying platforms) is 1000% easier as a bear. Basically you will heal yourself for waaaay more than the mobs hit you for. There's no danger as long as you can move out of the red circle.

Make sure you go back to caster form for the platform fighting part though, since you'll need to be able to do ranged damage. I didn't do that the first time, not knowing what to expect. Oops.

BUGS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

Maybe it's just me, but I've had to re-clear the instance three times so far due to the platform part bugging out. Once I clear the platform guys and die to the last boss (which, unfortunately, I've done a few times now), when you zone back into the instance, you should take the portal (labeled return portal). It'll transport you past the chasm to the last fight area.

If you *don't* take the portal and run down the hallway, you basically get stuck in a never-ending loop. You can jump onto the first transporter disk and then jump the first platform where you can do exactly nothing except "exit vehicle" which dumps you to the bottom of the chasm, where you can jump on a transporter disk that only goes back to that first platform! SOOO frustrating. The only way out is to hearth OR get a friend to join your group for a second, which will dump you out of the instance (oh and reset the instance for you as a bonus!).

As an added surprise, sometimes when you zone back into the instance after wiping the portal won't be there, so you get to reset and do it all again! Hoo-freaking-rah.

So far I've spent more time wasted on buggy design than I have on actually killing mobs/the boss. I spent 2 hours in there being annoyed tonight and gave it up after the portal disappeared on me again. I'll try again in the next couple days.

Tips for Moonkin on the final boss fight:

Firstly, I had a miserable time on this, so don't feel alone if you're cursing as you wipe, yet again, to this guy. He's nasty.

Here's what I found to be helpful:

1. Get a priest friend to sit outside the instance and buff you with PW: Fortitude and Shadow Protection. This makes a difference. Even if you have to pay someone to do it, it would be worth it I think.
2. Consider speccing out of master shapeshifter or some other talent of your choice and spec into Perseverance (2nd tier of the resto tree) for the magic damage reduction. I did not end up doing this, but I was considering it.
3. Make sure typhoon is unglyphed, you want that pushback!
4. Bring lots of consumables - Flask of the Draconic Mind (or raid flask if you get lucky and have some time left over on yours from raid!), Severed Sagefish Head, Volcanic Potions and Health/Mysterious Potions. Oh, and money for repairs!
5. If you have resto or moonkin pvp gear, consider wearing it. I ended up doing this wearing all moonkin gear but 2 piece PVP, some PVP accessories, 2 piece PVE and the rest PVE.

Priorities:
1. Keep yourself alive (duh). For me, that meant I did the vast majority of the fight in elf form to keep hots rolling on myself. Otherwise the incoming damage from the twilight bolts decimated me quickly and it was game over.
2. Keep mushrooms down a little bit in front of the top of the ramp. It was imperative for me to use them to take off a good chunk of each add's health and to give me a patch to slow them down and keep them off me.
3. Try to have starsurge off cooldown when the add is going to spawn (you'll get the rhythm of the add spawns pretty quickly). Even better, if you get a shooting stars proc while the add is coming up the ramp, save it for the add instead of using it on the boss.
4. Keep dots up on the boss. Direct damage on the boss was my absolute last priority.

Fight strat:
1. Lay down mushrooms a bit in front of the top of the ramp before the boss comes into view. I say a bit in front of, cause if you do it at the top of the ramp the add will cruise through them and charge you without being slowed by them.
2. Pre-hot yourself, 3x lifebloom, rejuv and regrowth. Try to get them refreshed as close to when the boss comes active as you can.
3. Hit a volcanic potion right before combat starts (I didn't do this very often cause I was scared I would need the health pot later in the fight and I didn't want to mess up by hitting the volcanic once combat began).
4. Go Moonkin and launch everything you've got at the boss.
5. I found it useful to use Solar Beam on cooldown during his twilight bolt casting phase to reduce the incoming damage. I used it right near the beginning of the fight and as often as I could after that.
6. Once the dragon moves and begins the beam phase, you better be running. I would go back to elf form and re-hot myself while running. About 1.25 times around the platform would end the tracking phase, and then I'd back up a bit to get away from the mouth of the ramp.
7. Make sure hots are up, make sure dots are up on boss. DPS boss and keep an eye out for the first add to spawn.
8. As soon as the add gets to the top of the ramp, hit your mushrooms before he charges you, then typhoon him back into the mushroom patch and root him there. Starsurge, dot him up. He should die shortly thereafter. If you have the time to set up that whole sequence on each add, you're better than me :)
9. Pretty much as soon as the add is dead, it's time to start running again (or at least it was for me). Hot yourself, dot the boss, moonfire spam if you have time. Make sure you have mushrooms re-set in front of the top of the ramp.

Rinse and repeat.

This was NOT a fast fight for me, it was definitely all about slow attrition on the boss via dots while killing adds quickly and keeping my own health topped off. I simply did not have the burst to do it the way some of the other strats direct.

Last thoughts:
1. Try to time your starfalls to take down an add as well as damage the boss.
2. Nature's Grasp can be your best friend if you have an add up during the kite phase (which will happen, almost guaranteed).
3. Treants can easily kill an add if you nature's grasp/root it down.
4. The adds realllly hurt, you don't want to let them close with you. Use typhoon, mushrooms, nature's grasp and roots.
5. Hibernate *will* work on the adds, but I didn't find it to be worth the cast time, since I didn't have the leisure to keep CC'ing. It was better to just kill the add than accidentally end up with 2 alive and chasing me.
6. When you finally get the boss down to 20% and get that speed buff, I (again) didn't have the burst to use that to just power through the rest of his health. Instead I used it to make sure my health was topped up (usually by this time I desperately needed a couple big heals, which were a fast cast now, thanks to the speed buff), and then did what damage I could to the boss, and prioritized killing the add that came up during this time quickly. Don't lose your head with the haste buff, it's nice to catch you up if you're a little behind, but it's not an instant "I WIN" button.

I found this quest quite challenging as a Shadow Priest.
I wiped quite a lot simply because I didn’t expect that it will be so difficult to solo.
Want to share some tips for fellow priests :)
1. You can’t buff, shield or heal Tarecgosa, so u can’t fully rely on her in killing all adds on the way. This is how I failed the 1st time: she simply died. If she dies – you need to go back to the start and speak with her again.
2. Sentinel & dogs. I DoT Sentinel and let Tarecgosa tank him. When dogs came I used fear, Mind Spikes and Mind Blast on them (3xMS,1MB and 1 PW:D should be enough to down 1 dog fast). Then kept using MS, MB, PW:D on the Sentinel.
3. Be sure that you have enough of hp and mana, because adds hit pretty hard. Don’t forget to use your shield when it’s not on the cd.
4. For small adds that r locked in ice tombs I used Holy Nova to kill them fast (they don’t have much health) and to heal myself at the same time. Just run through them, spamming Nova.
5. For the big dog that shows up near the ice wall - just avoid the fire that it casts, you can’t interrupt it, so just move aside.
6. Platforms. Try to kill the big add as fast as possible, because once in a while they cast a nasty spell that hits rly hard. I didn’t know that from the 1st try, but noticed it when I did that phase again – you can use orbs on the platform, that will reduce the incoming damage by 50%. There are 4 of them on each platform. You can also interrupt that nasty spell with Psychic Horror. Once the big add is down – jump on the platform and kill 2 small adds with MS&MB.
7. Last boss.
- I started the fight with shielding myself, using the Silence on the 1st Twilight Blast.
- I used only direct spells on him for lager damage.
- Once he starts moving to the other side of the platform – u will be able to stun him if u have the talent “Paralysis” in your spec.
- Don’t forget to dispel his bubble.
- Once he starts casting his breath, I used my DoTs on him and PW:D and tried to avoid the fire on the floor. This is a good time to use Dispersion.
- When the add comes – I used fear, 3xMS+MB to kill him rly quickly. Try to interrupt/fear him when he casts Fire Nova. Don’t cast any of your damaging spells when he casts the silence spell, it will lock shadow school of magic for 3-5 secs.
- Don’t forget to heal yourself when there are no adds.
- Once you will get Tarecgosa’s blessing which will increase your haste, use it wisely. Usually at that phase I was low on hp and just healed myself to the full hp and put DoTs on the boss. You can also cast direct spells to down the add faster.
I used my PvP spec with Silence, Psychic Horror and Paralysis to kill that boss. Interruption and decreased cd of fear will help u a lot.

I would recommend not using PVP gear. Since resilience only affects damage from other players (and their pets) you are trading a large amount of secondary stats for a smallish stamina boost.

This quest is just bad. I am very surprised Blizzard didn't debug this crap before releasing it. There's the in combat bug after she freezes you and the 3 dogs come for you. Then there's the main bug where a pet will get stuck on the platform and pretty much kills any chance of you completing this quest (as a warlock, which I am). Sure, I don't expect the legendary to be handed to me, but at least, I would like for the process to be smooth and be fair to me as well. Grats to those who did it. Its my first 2-3 hours doing it, but I'll get it down tomorrow.

Update: Did it the next day. On the first run to the boss, it was not bugged out, so I was able to heal myself with Soul Harvest when I needed to. Once I got to the boss, my first attempt, it bugged with my pet not moving. Tried to resummon another, but same result. So I ended up dying. After this I did it another time and while it took a long time (no flask, no food), I finally got my luck on my side and killed the damn boss without any bugs. I also respeced to 31/10/0 and reglyphed as suggested in the earlier post.

Easily done as an affli lock. Just hold curse of tongues on the boss, spell lock and purge with your felpuppy by cd. In this case your hps > boss's dps. Don't need any hs, ss, potions or food. Gl! :P

I'm a shadow priest and thanks to the advice above, I have finally completed this quest :D I used my standard PvE shadow spec and my raid gear, with a flask and some food for the boss guy (I'm a wimp, bite me :P). I also thought I'd share my experiences with you.

On the first part take out the dogs then the sentinel (I feared them, dotted them and dispelled them before taking them out). When you get to the second part of the gauntlet, where you're dealing with the little ghostie guys, Holy Nova them down (they die fast) and run through the steam traps when you can.

When Tarecgosa is trying to open the end of the tunnel, you get a hellhound style mob - he is easily killed, nothing special here.

Out of the tunnel, the next part was great fun - I simply jumped on the discs, pewpewed and made sure I had clicked those orbs before the mob cast the shadow nova thingy.

Boss time. I put him on focus to make dispelling easy, kept the dots going and ran in a circle when he did his breath so I'd end up in the middle once he'd finished casting. When the add came, I feared, dispelled and Mind Spiked it down. I also kept a shield up constantly and if I got into trouble with my HP I just ran about spamming Holy Nova. When you get him to 20-25%, Tarecgosa gives you a mini buff, Tarecgosa's Blessing, which is like a mini Heroism.

It was hard, but it was a fun quest. I hope this wall of text is useful and wish you the best of luck!

Having just finished collecting my embers, I was eager to try this quest firsthand. I would just like to elaborate on a couple points from above that helped me as a shadowpriest.

When the dog comes while Tarecgosa is melting the ice wall, watch for his cast bar. When he starts casting, make sure you are not in front of him! He does a flame breath on the floor that will kill you fast... yes, I speak from experience :P

While doing the discs, you can kill the main mobs very quickly, just click on an orb as soon as it comes in range. Jump on the platform and quickly dispatch the two adds that float up, but be careful if you tab target that you do not target another of the "main" mobs... yes, again speaking from experience, although at least I survived that.

The boss fight seems hectic at first, and you will likely die a couple times while learning the ropes. Take a deep breath and relax. Keep your shield up as much as possible, I actually glyphed it and talented it (replaced shadow word death glyph). This gives you a little boost in healing as well. When you kite his fire, try to stay around the edges like has been mentioned. If no add is up, throw a renew and a mending on yourself, since you shouldn't be taking any damage just then. Remember to pop back into shadow once you are done kiting. MAKE SURE YOU KITE FOR THE FULL CAST DURATION, the flames can be kind of hard to see so it is easy to accidentally stand in it when you think it is done following you, and a couple ticks will put you hopelessly behind in healing. Yes, again speaking from experience!

Keep the boss on focus and use a macro to dispel the heal, make sure you stay in range for dispels. When an add comes, they must be number one priority. Try to keep an eye on the ramp, as soon as you see one target it and start spamming mindspike. If you are reasonably geared, which you likely are if you have the 25 embers, the add should easily die with MSx2->MB. Try not to let them charge you at all, which if you spam MS from the moment you see him you should be able to avoid. Save dispersion for a time when you are kiting flames and an add comes at the same time, then fear the add and MSx2->MB when flames end.

Priority should always be the adds, even at the expense of a few ticks of healing on the boss. Once I focused on them, the fight was actually pretty easy.

this fight was HARD, because I do not pvp (thank you very much, but I play the pve game), I had to unlearn everything.

my successful attempt took 4.5 mins, during which I healed myself for over 500k.
wrath accounted for 5% of boss damage, zero starfire

1) Twilight Blast - phase 1 - (he shoots at you)
you can use solar beam, he will then move to melee you which is fine.
do not use solar beam in phase 2

during the first phase 1

so unless you are skilled at pvp, dont bother, will just frustrate you

PLUS
once you get boss to 20%, you get CRAZY speed buff, heal to 100%, then dot, wrath if you have time, but why risk it ? LOLOLOL

once I got the boss to 5%, it only took 2 attempts to kill him.

Ok, this is for the warlocks who said that this was a hard encounter!

First of all, that's what i also thought at start... That this encounter was very hard and is almost impossible...
After a couple of failing tries, I decided to take a good look at all my abilities and test them on the boss...
After I did that i concluded that the boss is susceptible to curse of tongues and i was not using shadow ward...
So i went again, and tried while using curse of tongues on boss instead of elements, interrupting when i can (not focusing on it though, because with tongues u can easily heal through the blast with haunt and drain life) and I also used shadow ward which can absorb at least a beam...
And there, the boss went down and i was nearly at full HP...
So here are some tips for my fellow warlocks:

1- respec affliction and put 3 points in demonic embrace in demonology, 2 points in fel synergy and 2 points in demonic aegis... only use destruction for 3 points in shadow and flame... the rest 31 points are spent in affliction....
2- First of all keep ur pet on PASSIVE... and dont let him attack the boss because he goes nuts and he bugs! use curse of tongues on the boss and interrupt him when spell lock is off CD... also use ur shadow ward... other than that, keep DoTs up and drain life always (never use shadowbolt)!
3- put ur portal up on the platform, when he does his beam run down the ramp (but dont go out of range of ur TP), and when his beam is at like 40% remaining time TP back to the platform and go again... keep refreshing tongues and DoTs, keep haunt up because it heals you alot and other than that drain life and interrupt him when u can and devour magic his buff...
4- when adds come, have ur pet tank them... soul swap of the boss to the adds and apply haunt on them... death coil em when u can and drain life (if ur not running from the beam)

It is a really easy encounter and fun also... and I think its pretty easy for warlocks after using those spells correctly... so follow these steps... dont get scared, keep ur healthstone up for urgent cases... do ur Job correctly and Boom he goes down!

Just finished after about two hours of trying as Demo, I tried destro for two attempts (total of 11 attempts). Got him to 2~10% many times, even as destro. Read many posts on the wow forums and here, got him down with my own mix of some of the strats.

I used my current raiding Demo spec
Get buffs! Everything you can, kings, fort, shadow prot, flask and food. Toss DI on your felhunter, soulstone yourself so you can reset faster if you need to. When you run up to start the fight, toss a campfire down for good luck and pop a volcanic potion when Tarecgosa is bound, pop your trinkets, meta, doomguard, shadow ward. Dot him up, use the basic PvE rotation but use Curse of Tongues! You will need to keep it up just incase your felhunter decides he doesn't really care if you die or not and would rather just chill and watch the fight for a bit. Dot the adds, toss your felhunter on them. Get back on the boss (drop agro if you need to get the add(s) on your felhunter - soulshatter) and continue to interrupt/dispel when able/needed.

When the boss begins to move for his first beam, you SHOULD still be in meta form if everything was timed correctly, line yourself up and demon leap onto him - this'll stop him for 2 seconds, allowing you to refresh dots before the beam kite begins. I kited in a snaking circle (as in, I ran as close to the edge around the little pillar things whenever possible near the RAMP side. If you do not do the kiting on the ramp side, you'll definitely get a felhunter that wants to watch you die while hanging out somewhere else. You only get to do one demon leap for the fight so make it count! (I was close to doing a second but he died before I could :P).

I used drain life whenever I got below 70% HP
Devour Magic the INSTANT he puts up the health bubble
Interrupt off CD
When it comes time to use your healthstone, be sure to use soulburn with it!

Aside from that, I've got nothing else to toss up here - aside from GOODLUCK!

Just did this in Affliction spec
Not as bad as some people make it out to be, it's more of an annoyance thing.
I didn't read up on anything till I got to the boss where I quickly folded as a Destro Lock.

Followed most of the instructions here, Focus macro'ed all my spells, kept the song and dance going long enough, and down goes the big purple dargon.

Don't be intimidated, it's not hard, just takes some practice, I don't ever play affliction, so I learned the boss and affliction at the same time, once I went afflic, took me maybe 5-6 attempts.

And whenever you are upstairs, go close to him, so your pet are in range with Spell Lock and Devour Magic. Apparently, it is to stupid to run over to the boss and cast spells if you are too far away.

This was my golden ticket right here. Thank you for writing this here. Standing across the platform in standard caster spots meant my felpup couldn't even do Move To correctly; standing just under him, my felpup could immediately Spell Lock/Devour Magic when I wanted him to. Just be careful if you trail his breath there.

I spent a Death Coil on an add for kicks, and used Drain Life as a filler. With felhunter on passive with Devour Magic, Spell Lock, and Attack keybound, it was much easier to get the buff off him. Also, the Shadow Ward on CD was a good idea.

The adds combined with felpuppy's bite and some quick DoTs didn't stay up too long; I was able to really just DoT them and run a bit. One did catch me during a breath run, and they will daze you, so Fear it if you can.

As a spriest, this was not cake. (For me, anyway.) After wiping about 5 times the first night, the portal to the end boss despawned, so I gave up in frustration.

Today, I respecced into Silence and PW:S. I also glyphed my PW:S and Prayer of Mending. I flasked and food-buffed. I created the macros for Dispel and Silence on the focus target. Oh, and a random tip... don't focus-target the boss when you see him flying during the disc-hopping phase. For some reason, that is not considered the boss you actually fight. /shrug

As others have mentioned, get more than 1-2 adds, and you're done. Fear them liberally, but a mistake I made was setting my fiend on them and fading, hoping the fiend would take out the add. The fiend doesn't help much except to take the focus off you for a couple seconds. Just mindspike x3 and mindblast the add ASAP.

Keep your bubble up. To be safe, while kiting the flame breath, renew & PoM yourself. I was able to dispel the regeneration pretty quickly....and the silence was nice for a brief break from the blasts. Silence won't keep him from doing the flame breath, unfortunately.

Bit of a hard time for a ilvl 374 mage. Took me a time to figure the specs, since you take a ton of damage. Here's what worked for me (after seven deaths): went frost all the way till the rifts. Shield up and don't be afraid to sheep one dog if it's giving you a hard time. I bound spellsteal to a letter and it made extremely easy to dispell sentries and dogs.
After Tarecgosa freezes you, you'll have to fight a pack of 3 dogs. I used ring of frost, frostfire orb, frost nova and blizzard. I tried to dispell them all from time to time. After that, just use arcane explosion to kill the mana elementals.
The dragon will be in Telestra's room with 2 sentinels. This was rough, cause Talecgosa gets frozen sometimes. Mirror image helps getting the mobs away from you, but I had to use invisibility once.
Just before the rift event starts, you will fight another dog. It's easy mode as long as you avoid the fire he casts on the floor.
This is the time to respec to arcane. You'll need its higher dps in order to kill the twilight drakes before they cast shadow nova and kill you. While on the disc, I collected the orbs to get the shield and spammed arcane blast. The drake will die very fast. I tried to interrupt its bolts whenever CS was up.
Last boss: avoid his breath. It's very important to spellsteal his healing and interrupt the bolts whenever you can. I opened with the burn phase (Time Warp + Mirror Image + Moonwell + Arcane Power + Volcanic Potion + arcane blast spam) and popped time warp. I used evocation just after his breath and tried to keep my mana up. When I was kiting his breath, I used any instant cast that was available along with fire ball. Win :)
Being a legendary quest, I didn't think Blizzard would settle for less. It's hard, but fun and full of lore :)

I used my standard raid spec: 32/0/9

The general strategy throughout the entire quest was to kill the little dogs first when they are there and try to let Tarecgosa tank when you can, but it won't always work out that way. Quite possibly the biggest tip I can give you is to put hots on yourself before you actually need a lot of healing. If you drop to 75% or so, toss on LBx3 and a Rejuv then hop back into Moonkin form and nuke.

For the last boss, it's very simple. Keep a 3 stack of LB up as much as you can while keeping your standard boss DPS rotation going. Treants won't be able to attack the boss, but they can keep the adds busy if you find yourself getting behind. If adds are hard for you, set up 3 mushrooms at the top of the ramp to blow up as soon as the add gets up there, and if you detonate them in Solar Eclipse it can take it down to half HP pretty much instantly. I don't have Solar Beam, so interrupting isn't very necessary, just make sure you don't get hit by his beam. I liked to run in a circle and when i got back to the starting point, going just beside it on the outside edge of the platform. He should go down fairly quickly.

Grrr, I hate what blizzard did for this encounter. Why did they make a huge portion of a warlock's dps come from the pet and then give us a mob that flies around and bugs out our pet. I've had it bug out even when it's on passive. Very frustrating since if it gets stuck, it will no longer devour magic.

Just finished this as shadow priest. Only had my own buffs/flask etc.

I found the only way to beat end boss is to spec in to silence, or else the damage becomes overwhelming. :)

Bubble whenever it's up & if his breath is targeting you and you have an add on you simultaneously, dot the add as you are moving. Casting shadowfiend and fading also helps out alot ! And lastly, don't forget to dispel his hp regen.

I beat the boss, but was saved to Malygos already so it gave me an error. I had a friend join a raid with me and walked into the Malygos instance and it gave me quest credit letting me finish the quest chain. :D

Do this so you don't have to wait a week and then fight this monstrosity again.

Thanks to all the warlocks who posted tips on this thread it was a big help. As a destruction warlock for the last 3 years who literally had to re-learn how to play affliction for this fight, I can say for sure, the easiest way to do this is to kite the fire on one side of the platform, sick fell hunter with corruption and bane of agony on add and resume dps on the boss. After tryin many different methods and having to deal with many bugs, I found this to be the simplest both with minimal bugs and effective dps on the boss.

I died once on the way in during the gauntlet cause I had no idea what was going on and once on the boss.

Killed him the second time with pretty much 100% health and 100% mana.

I was expecting much worse.

I am appalled at all the destruction locks who apparently should be playing affliction *flame* (j/k - it is a very hard fight). Do it as destro with fellpuppy out for spell lock and devour magic.
After a dozen attempts and tweaks I was able to do this as destruction successfully.

Buffs: Drums of Forgotten Kings, and Prismatic Elixir makes the fight easier. Also get grab a Severed Sagefish Head buff.

What To Do:
#1 PRIORITY. Shadowfury the adds immediately, Corruption and Immolate them, and stick your pet on them, by the time you pop Conflagrate they will be dead or close to it. Adds can shadow nova and spell lock you, so kill them ASAP.
#2 PRIORITY: Kite the fire in a planned path. I used the ramp most of the time, but also do not let up DPS on the boss, if you spend too much time kiting you lose valuable time on the boss and may miss a cleanse
#3 PRIORITY: Devour Magic immediately as soon as Thyrinar casts Twilight Restoration on himself.
~~#4 PRIORITY~~: on cooldown and interrupt Thyrinar cast of Twilight Blast as often as possible. When he is flying and casting, a good Spell Lock will bring him close to you and a glyphed in the face will slow his flying and allow for more dps time.
#5 PRIORITY: DON'T PANIC when he gets very low. Adds NEVER stop.
#6 PRIORITY: Switch to before poping a potion and healthstone. Bandage after a spell lock if needed. Save your big demon until the very end.

Note About Adds: The Twilight Invader hit you with a Rushing Charge (30% added damage) if you don't stun them with Shadowfury and get your pet on them immediately, dot them up and pop conflagorate, dead add - back on boss. Their Counterspell and Fire Nova suck, so stay clear of them and kill them fast.

Keep your cool, rinse and repeat and dragon will die.

Unlike everyone other warlock here, did this in my Destruction raiding build. Swapped some glyphs for the fight: Charred Glyph was obviously useless, swapped to Faded Glyph for additional healing through , Charred Glyph and Charred Glyph for even more healing.

Put the Felhunter on Passive, had Spell Lock and Devour Magic keybound. Shadowfury is useful - can stun boss and adds, sometimes both at the same time. is useful, as usual. After some practice Thyrinar died. Really nice fight, even though not that easy.

So now that I have done it, here are my thoughts on it:

The first two areas are easy. Just be sure to kill the dogs first (the npc will bug if you don't), stay off the ice spike, and also do a bit of damage on the big guy so he targets you for the ice spike and not Tar.

After the second set of mobs, you will get frozen in ice. This is the first tricky part. Be ready for a root, stun or fear (howl of terror FTW). They can all counter spell and if that happens you are likely gonna die if all 3 dogs are chomping on you. I sent my felpuppy in and let him tank all 3 while I focus fired one down.

After you are done with the 3 dogs, you face a gauntlet. The gauntlet runs from the doorway all the way up to the room where the splitting boss is in real Nexus. You are in combat so you can't sit and eat, but nothing will come and attack you until you enter a hallway. This is the point where the changes to how pets act changes how you have to do this. Pop your infernal and run up the gauntlet spamming Fel Fire. When I tried to dot, they didn't die fast enough, but fel fire almost takes them out with one hit.

At the top pull each of the arcane guys at your leisure. It's worth taking the time to get your highest bandage and using it. You will also be using them later.

After this Tar goes down to the left, and starts breaking open the ice door. I got confused here, but there is actually only ONE dog. Not multiple adds like her voice acting makes it sound. Be sure to dodge the dog's breath thing, you can see him casting it, just strafe around him.

In the platform area, it is worth noting, when you are on a platform it circles the larger one until you jump off it and onto the larger one. The first platform I went to I was able to reach two other large platforms and take out their guys all while circling the first one, completely away from shadow novas. But if you are contending with shadow novas, on each platform there are 4 little orbs you can click on to prevent the damage. However ONCE YOU CLICK DO NOT CAST. That drops the bubble it gives you.

When you sail over the middle of the room, your platform will drop you into the pink dragons. Don't freak out like I did, Tar is going to frost breath them all to death. Just pop a healthstone or cd and avoid them. Howl is a good thing here too.

Congrats, you made it through all that to the hard part.

This fight was very clearly tuned for mages. (I hate you all.) But it just shows that we other casters have a bit more skill. He starts at 50%.

The cycle of the fight is, nuke/spell lock/devour magic phase, kiting phase, and add phase. First off most people focus on the devour magic removing the debuff, yes, this is important, but it is actually third in importance. First and foremost, avoiding the breath. Second killing the add. Third Devouring the buff. Fourth is Shadow Ward and Spell Lock. Add phase can happen during a kiting phase.

Note: Take spell lock off auto. I could have head-desked when I realized I had this on. Two hours of wiping because I wasn't paying attention.

I macroed shadow ward into my corruption, bod, and spell lock. It meant I pretty much had it up the whole time. This part is about execution, not about dps. I would dps the boss like normal, all while watching for him to move or watching for the add. As soon as the add appeared, I targeted him, sent in the felpuppy and corruption boa the add, then drain lifed on the add. When the boss moves, he will do his breath weapon after, just start running now. The effect doesn't match up to the damage either (lazy designer) and so be sure to give it a wide berth. Try and get your fel puppy to stay out of it too.

Oh also, if you go affliction, just remove shadow bolt. You want to Corruption, Bane, and Drain Life. Squeeze in UA when there is no add and high on health, and keep death coil at the ready. (I used mine on CD.) I never had to worry about mana and life tap though. (It really makes you wonder, why nerf DL spec if they are just going to make it the best way to do the Legendary Quest?) I kept BoD on the boss (yay fire imps! go go go!) and used CoA on the adds.

Even though I respecced (31-10-0, with demon armor), my pet was still dying several times to fire. (Stupid Fel Puppy...) And so I saved my soul shards for instant summoning. When I would see him going down, I would run down the ramp, and resummon him. It is also worth noting, the adds HAVE to run completely up the ramp before running back down to attack you. I would dot them on their way up and they would be nearly dead by the time they made it back. Also, when I would be down the ramp I would bandage myself. I could usually get 3 or 4 ticks off, which is a HUGE amount of health in this fight.

I didn't do the extra buffs thing, but I did use Healthstones and a Health pot. I also popped the doomguard once I got the haste buff. (Oh you get a haste buff at 25%. Don't change, just keep doing what you have been doing.)

What makes this fight so hard:

We have to use our fel puppy, and sadly, he is terrible on this fight because the boss flies and the puppy can't path to him. If you could use the imp or even the succy this would be much easier. You have to keep him on passive and only use him to spell lock and devour magic. Then use him to tank the adds. Also he can spell lock and devour while tanking the adds.

tl:dr -

1. Order of importance: Adds, Fire, Boss Healy Buff.

2. Drain Life as filler, not SB.

3. Bandages!

4. Macro Shadow Ward into Everything.

5. Slow and steady. Once you get the add and breath rotation down, it gets much easier.

FROST MAGE GUIDE
-I started in my main spec (Arcane), but found Frost to be much easier. Here is what I did, hopefully it will help you somewhat.

First Group:
She starts attacking a giant Stone Guardian. Do not aggro this guy yet. Dogs will spawn, kite them around using your Elemental Freeze and Frost Nova while avoiding the spikes that will likely hit you for 1/3 of your health. Then dps the Guardian down.

Second Group:
Again, take care of the dogs first, I found it was easier to kite them up and down the corridor. Blink is your friend. Then kill the Guardian that Tera is killing.

Now she Ice Blocks you while Sentries walk past. 3 Dogs spawn behind you, so Ring of Frost was really useful for me here. I just RoF then Ice Lanced them down (I have alot of Mastery thanks to Arcane, so I was critting for alot here).

Third Group:
You have to run after Tera as she moves along a corridor. Dont run through the steam vents, they do massive amounts of damage. The adds here in iceblocks have around 3k health, so just Ice Barrier and spam Arcane Explosion until you get to the top.

Fourth Group:
Two Guardians are attacking her. Before you hit one, eat some cake and get your health back. Use your kiting skills to down both of them one at a time. Deep Freeze is amazing, I used it all the time here.

Giant Puppy:
She starts breaking down a wall, and a giant puppy will spawn. Frost Orb, Deep Freeze, Spellsteal the 50% extra damage buff, kill kill kill.

Floating Platforms:
This was really easy. If you need protection from an attack, click an orb. Interupt what you can with Counter Spell or Arcane Torrent (belf racial), and just burn them. You lose your elemental here, so remember the loss of extra Fingers of Frost. If you ever have low health, just wait until it regenerates by itself. There isn't a timer, just don't hop onto the next platform until you are ready. At the 3rd platform the giant black dragon will come over, jump away onto a little platform so you don't die, then kill the add and your platform sinks, gaining aggro of two adds. I dont know if I bugged here or not, but as soon as I landed the adds stunned and daze chained me, until I managed a Frost Nova and Blink. Then Tera came around and killed everything which was nice. :)

Dragon:
He stuns Tera. Counter Spell the fireball, DONT counterspell the Twilight Restoration. Spellsteal it, you will gain 10000 health and mana every second. Using Deep Freeze, Frostfire, Ice Lance while running he died pretty fast. Adds were easy to control as well. He has about 1900K health.

Hope this helps some of you. I died once on the gauntlet (damn steam) and once against the dragons breath, but once you get the hang of it its rather easy. Long, but easy.

How to do the final fight as a discipline priest.

(Yup, a discipline priest. My guild had a temporary shortage of casters, so I was 3rd in line to get the legendary staff. Neat, eh? Can't wait for smite healing procs!)

-- Use Inner Fire, not Inner Will. You're gonna need every bit of spellpower you can get. It may be tempting to swap between Inner Fire and Will during the movement phases, but it isn't really necessary and it'll give you one extra bit of chaos to manage.

-- Use a +300 int flask. Your mana really isn't a problem in this fight. Using Shadowfiend every five minutes will be more than sufficient to keep your mana pool high.

-- Use +90 int food. More int is always good.

-- I used the Drums of Forgotten Kings for an extra bit of stats.

-- Spec into Evangelism and Atonement. I think I used Archangel perhaps once during the trash, so if you're respeccing just for this fight then you can skip the point here. (Hint: putting two points in Improved Shadow Word: Pain will be greatly helpful for this fight.)

-- Put your focus target on the boss. Dispel him every time he gives himself his healing buff.

-- Always keep Devouring Plague and Shadow Word: Pain on the boss. These are going to do about two-thirds of your damage. Remember to keep DOTs up during while avoiding the beam.

-- Always put Shadow Word: Pain on the adds as they attack you.

-- Killing adds is your top priority, as they'll stack up and start counterspelling you constantly. Use Power Infusion for extra bursts of speed in killing the adds. I also used the Fiery Quintessence trinket from Avengers of Hyjal (revered rep) for extra killing power. Shadowfiend was also useful when I started to lag behind killing the adds, as I could fade and start casting without being attacked.

-- Psychic Scream comes in handy, but the adds have the bad habit of running down the platform out of range. If you've got two adds on you then it's probably worth casting though, as it'll temporarily keep the second from counterspelling you.

-- Use Power: World Shield whenever it's up. You'll take a lot of ongoing damage.

-- Use Renew when you're avoiding the beam and only casting instants. Prayer of Mending at times like this too.

-- Whenever your health gets low (I have a Power Auras graphic to tell me when this is happening) use Desperate Prayer and Pain Suppression. I then either heal myself up (sometimes finishing off an add at low health first). I never used Power Word: Barrier, but it could certainly have been used as well (perhaps when multiple adds were up).

-- When avoiding the beam, run around the outside of the platform and try to end the "beam phase" in the center. That'll keep you in range of the boss at all times so you can dispel him faster.

-- If you do get counterspelled, switch to Mind Spike to finish off low-health adds. Or use the time to refresh your DOTs on the boss.

-- If you have Strength of Soul, use Inner Focus as a way to become immune to incoming counterspells.

The whole fight will take about 15 minutes and you'll need to be on your A-game. It's fun though and I wish you luck with it. I'm ilevel 382 geared if that makes any difference. G'luck!

How to kill as Boomkin:

Soloing a boss with 2 million HP that have adds that can silence and interrupt as well as dodging a laser and fire on the ground all while getting potshot for 40-50k a pop... this IS for a Legendary this is NOT gonna be easy and IS going to require exceptional measures. It sounds complicated, but once you get a feel for how it works it runs fairly smoothly. I went 13 wipes before getting pissed and changing things up by tailoring rotation and Spec specifically for the fight.

Priority is:

LBx3 stack
Rejuv if below 80k HP while Add and/or laser is up
HT if below 80k HP with out Add and/or laser up
Instant SS @Add if up or hold if it is running up the ramp
IS DoT @Boss
MF DoT @Boss
MF Spam @Add if up
Instant SS @Boss if Add is NOT up or will NOT be up soon
MF Spam @Boss

Things of Note:

Don't go in form, it's going to feel weird, but you can't heal yourself and poping in and out of it every 10 seconds to keep LB going hurts FAR more then it helps.
I used this build for the fight. It's tailor made for the fight and not suggested for normal raid use.
Don't try to rush the fight, there is no time limit and little to no actual Mana cost outside of the heals.
Use Innervate as soon as you hit 78% mana heals are not cheap fortunately the balance spells are.
HT should be your only hard cast once the fight gets going.
If you want to push things you can try a burst rotation and burn until forced to move then move into the instant spam.
Typhoon, Nature's Grasp and Entangling Roots should be used to keep the Add from beating on you directly, due to the interrupts and silences the bastard does.
Solar Beam can be used to silence the dragon and force it into Melee for Treants if you are fine on mana and health and No add is up for a boost to damage but don't sweat it if you can't.

As for light at the end of the tunnel, this is really the only hard part of the whole Legendary questlines. The next quest in the line is explained very well by this comment here and while another wall of text it's much simpler.

Use Stoneclaw and Grounding on CD. Do NOT use Healing Surge unless you are really low on health; Greater Healing Wave is much better despite its mana cost. Throw a FS on the add as it is coming up the ramp, if possible, since it won't start attacking until it has reached the platform.

Stay away and out of the shadow stuff. I cannot emphasize that enough even with a bold tag. Unless you're rocking full T12 gear, I doubt you can afford to take a hit. Not that you should want to, ever.

1.) Interrupt Thyrinar on CD (ie. WS -> Grounding -> WS -> Stoneclaw); don't bother with interrupting the add's fire nova.
2.) PURGE the HoT!
3.) Don't panic! Remember that you also have Spiritwalker's Grace, Bloodlust, and Elemental Mastery to use. If things get too dicey with the add(s), use your Fire Elemental and Earth Elemental (they are no good against the boss himself since he's out of reach).

Edit: Due to Wind Shear's baseline CD having been increased to 15 seconds as of patch 4.3, I strongly urge that you pick up (baseline setup). Survival is more important for this quest than squeezing out a little more DPS.

It took me several attempts (100+ gold repair bill), but I did complete it. Tarecgosa will give you her buff when the boss is around 700k - 800k hp (not certain, was too busy staying alive) -- that does not mean you can start slacking off, but it will make things slightly easier.

Cleaned the format up some and added a bit more info. Second edit because of an extraneous bracket. :/

I just did this as a decently geared shadowpriest.

Remember all buffs, flask etc, watch the video on youtube if you can, it will help you immensely if you know whats going to happen ahead of time.

Make a macro and put on your hotbar for last boss.

Use fade liberally to allow the npc or your shadowfiend to tank adds. Fear dogs as often as possible (I am glyphed for fear so I just moved away from them to put a little distance for when the fear broke). Stick and move to avoid the cast circles on the ground from the arcane robots

When you get to the hallway where you lose your npc, kill the three dogs using fear/shadowfiend/fade, stay away from the doorway so you do not aggro the frozen arcane mobs.

Once you have defeated the dogs use holy nova as you run to quickly dispatch the mobs in the hallway. Watch out for the frosty air barriers. When you reach Tarecgosa you can heal up or disperse as needed to get mana back before engaging the arcane robots. Engage them one at a time. Save your cooldowns you will need them for the next part.

To defeat the dog boss, blow cd's, and keep your dots up, use bubble and fade to allow your shadowfiend to soak some of the silences and dmg.

Next you move into the flying saucer room. Do not worry about attacking or dotting every mob in range. You only need to kill the mobs closest to you. If you accidentally aggro extra, just keep them dotted and they will die. Use Psychic Horror to interrupt at least one of the shadow novas. Keep your dots on all active targets and things will die quickly. Once your saucer lands, dot up the two dragonkin, fear them and hold out for Tarecgosa to save the day.

Once she has killed all the adds, you will be out of combat, double check your buffs, be sure your macro is ready. When you run up to the platform, he will channel a spell on Tarecgosa just before becoming attackable, prepot a Volcanic Pot so you can pot again during the fight. Immediately set the dragon Thyrinar as your Focus, this will really help when you are running around.

The boss does a self heal that can be dispelled. As soon as you see it hit your macro, ALWAYS try to stay in dispel range when you are not running away from his breath. When you see an add spawn, immediately dot it up, fear it when its in range and go back to dps'ing the boss, it will die to your dots with little to no effort. Use bubbles liberally, and when possible fade adds onto your shadowfiend. When the boss breathes it leaves a trail of fire behind him, try to keep the fire in a ring on the center of the platform, this will help you stay in range of the boss for dispels and give you more room to run around.

Oh wow, as a moonkin this is the hardest solo quest I have ever had to do. I have wiped so many times and spent so much gold on repairs and flasks, reglyphing and respeccing and it has done me no good at all.

I made sure I read all comments and forums on the subject and its just not happening. It doesn't help when every so often the instance glitches and the portal taking you to Phase 3 disappears and even a reload/relog can't restore it so you need to start the first two phases again.

I have spent two whole days on this and as I needed to do a guild raid I have just left it as something I will need to revisit every so often. I am 378 geared (apart from a 365 ring/359 head and 365 offhand slot) and consider myself to be a pretty decent player but Phase 3 is completely defeating me.

I respecced and reglphyed to give me more resto powered heals and whils this was a minor improvement - my cooldowns are not good enough. Here is a brief summary of my experiences!

Phase 1 - a bit annoying and often wipes me but usually can get through in one piece - end boss is v easy if you avoid his ice breathe talent.

Phase 2 - v easy if you pick the right path - you don't have to kill all the adds on the platforms to get across and I found this out by luckily choosing the quickest path the first time I did it. Landed on the other side with full health and mana and apart from dpsing two adds, I stealthed until Tarecgosa turned up to kill the rest.

Phase 3 - start by planting mushrooms at the top of the ramp for first add. Cast solar beam and FF on the boss. Cast barskin, lifebloom x 3 and then dot IS and MF and then starfire until I can get into solar eclipse. Usually that is timed with his the fire beam and I run around the outisde of the platform and the fire line finishes before a complete circle is made so I have the centre of the platform to use. First add turns up but I often find my view is distorted so I can't time detonation right - the add does charge right through it so I need to use my typhoon on it (whilst keeping entangling roots up) and dot it to give me some breathing space to heal up to save myself from twilight blats. I then barely have enough time to dot the boss and hot myself but solar beam still isnt off cd which means I am taking a vast amount of damage from the blasts - I typhoon to interrupt if in the right position but this is a last resort as I really like to keep these for the adds.

I use starfall and trees on second add as it turns up as the twisting twilight is being cast so I am desparately trying to HOT, DOT the add, run from beam whilst trying to heal through the twilight blasts. I honestly can't get to solar beam and typhoon to interrupt blasts (especially whilst on the move from the beam) so its these that the major area of concern for me.

On two occasions I managed to get to the stage where you get the haste debuff but I was taking more damage than I could possibly heal, I had two adds up in v v quick succession (thats not to happen surely?) so even the buff wasnt any use.

Its the blasts, plain and simple that are killing me - they are being cast like every 5 seconds and are damaging me for 16k hit a time (slightly less if I have a mage who can give me a few buffs). I always have flask and food buff and some guildies have met me a the entrance to buff me up but I can't expect them to stay put all the time whilst I wipe.

Am I missing something? I have 128k health so it only takes like 10 hits of blasts before I'm dead - maybe more if I can keep my HoTs up.

I honestly don't want to spend any more gold on this - I have to respec and reglyph back to my usual set up if I want to join my guild in raids.

I honestly think this is a waste of time for moonkins - all that time farming the embers when its not possible to get to the stage where you need to go back to FL to farm the other items. And what gets me is that even after this is completed, you need to collect so much more and get the guild to defeat a boss for a 378 staff. You should at least get the 378 staff for completing Through a Glass Darkly and then have to do all the other parts for the higher level staff.

I understand Legendary requirements, I really do - but this is so much work for no reward and us moonkins are not being given a fair break - adds spawn too quickly, blasts are too frequent and deal far too much damage and wipe out any benefit of HoTs and we don't have enough interrupts for the blasts.

Even when I got to the buffed up stage, I didn't feel like I would have completed it - I was out of mana from all the healing and everything was on CD.

All I can say to Blizzard is "you seriously messed up (believe me I want to use harsher language) with this stage of the quest - you have clearly favoured other classes and once again, us furry sorts are left high and dry - you never had any intention of letting a druid get the staff".

For those moonkins that have passed Phase 3, then fair play and well done but I think the instance is warped for me - had it glitch on me twice and even though I opened a ticket, nothing could be done. I have since found out that as soon as it gltiches, stay in the instance, log out and then immediately log back in - if the portal still isnt there then run out and back in. I think it comes back eventually.

Don't even try to run manually through the instance without the portal - there are no adds up but the platforms don't work and you get stuck halfway so there is no way to get to the other side. You don't die if you drop off the platforms but the ones on the floor don't lift you back up again so you need to HS out of there.

Sorry for whinging a bit but I am so disheartened! All my work in FL has gone to waste and my lovely guild had appointed me as the first person to do the quest when there are other classes who should have been given priority and would no doubt find Phase 3 a walk in the park.

Did this today as a 375 Spriest. Sorry but I don't remember the proper names of abilities and the creatures you fight, but this will give you a fairly good idea as to how to handle the instance.

First up are the sentinel robots and they die fairly easy, avoid his ice move on the floor, which is interruptable. A pair of mage hunter dogs come, they interrupt and can lock you out of your spells. DoT them and scream them away. Fade on CD and let Tarecgosa tank as much as possible.

For the gauntlet section, grab 2 packs and Mind Sear them down, heal up if need be and repeat. They respawn pretty quick.

After the gauntlet there are two sentinel robots that have our dragon stunned, take them out one at a time. They only have a little bit of health each. Once they are dead, mana up.

Next up is a Dog mini boss, stay out of his fire ability, will kill after a couple ticks. I used my fiend to tank him and when he got to me he was almost dead.

After that is some platform hopping and killing dragonkin adds, they use a shadowbolt type ability. The large ones cast a nova attack when they are close to death, more often if you take too long. After one is dead, hop on their platform and kill the next adds. Once you get to the other side the final boss will try to kill you on the platform, jump to a new platform or you will die. This will take you to the other side with some adds down below. Kill them and our dragon companion will kill the rest of them up to the platform where you kill the last boss.

I died on my first attempt on the last boss and downed him on my second.
Make sure to spec into silence and use it whenever it is on cool down. You can only silence his shadowbolt type ability. When you silence him, he will come down and attack, this is a good time to use shadow fiend and fade. It will buy you some time. PW: Shield on CD as well.
Whenever he does the beam ability, run along the outside edge (don't go down the ramp).
When an add comes up put SW:P and VT on it and scream it away and it should die quick enough. If they aren't dying quick enough switch to them and kill them quick, they will continue to spawn more. Dispel the HoT he puts on himself immediately. You will likely have to pop out of shadow and heal yourself as much as you can before draining your mana and another add comes up. Once the boss is dead, click the eye and enjoy the cutscene. Grats on being one step closer to your legendary staff :D

I have asked for advice from one of my servers best moonkins who advised that the shadow blasts can be avoided if you are behind one of the "walls" that surround the outer edge of the platform - it must be a line of sight thing. Has anyone discovered if this is true? I haven't gone back to it since my wipefest at the weekend so not yet had a chance to discover if it works. Also, is it possible to "hibernate" or "cyclone" the boss? Need as much breathing space to heal up as possible so anything to avoid the blasts when solarbeam or typhoon is on CD would help me do this fight.

After a week of this quest, I finally got it on my second try today. I went with a demo spec, since I am not an afflic fan and do not play it well at all.

I looked on forums and find a guide by someone else who had done this as demo, the spec I used was a 9/31/1 http://www.wowhead.com/talent#IbhrZIrMfRu0Rdo0o:aVMcMdMcz which they posted.

I didnt have to respec for any of the different parts, just change pets out. Used felguard through the first 2, and used fel pup on the boss part. I didnt switch my glyphs like I should have, which made it a little more harder on myself then should have been. get fel hound, healthstone, and soul link glyphs. I didnt use flasks or outside party buffs like a priests or druids buff either.

Use fel pup on boss, have it on passive. spell lock boss and dispell buff whenever possible. I stood facing the ramp as often as I could, I would sick pup on adds, cast BoA, and corr on adds and let pet kill them. Keep CoT, BoA, corr, immo on boss, keep shadow ward on yourself at all time, drain life, avoid flames. I tried running flames down one side of the ramp but found it to be more of a hassle then just making a big circle on the platform. Once the add was dead and the boss wasnt casting his flames, I would heal my pet if my life was above 50%. More often then not I just had CoT, BoA, and corr on the boss, being instant casts, was easy enough to do them while running. Also use demon armor over fel armor.

the biggest thing is making sure your pet is alive. I used all 3 shards to resummon my pet, ate 3 cookies, and had a soulstone cast on myself, which I ended up not needing, but it was close. Once I was able to maintain my pet well enough, it got easier.

Dot boss, dot adds, drain life, heal pet. shadow ward, and remember to use all your other CD's. I popped doomguard, meta, and blew all Cd's right away after my pet spell locked the boss.

I'm an elemental Shaman and have watched the one or two videos of Shaman doing this fight that I was able to find. I've respec'd and glyped as all the suggestions of this site have stated. I've spoken in game to a GM about the elemental bug in the fight and am still mashing my face on the keyboard.

Having followed advice from previous posts for laserchickens on this quest I could not help taking more damage than i could heal through. Time spent trying to heal myself to stay alive would mean i couldn't kill adds fast enough or I would run out of mana and lose that way.

After I convinced a priest to help buff me it took 2 goes. My recount analysis showed that I took 1.6million shadow dmg, and resisted 678K. I had mark of the wild, shadow resist buff, prismatic elixir to give 400 shadow resist. This helps a LOT. If you have to pay a priest to buff you, do it. I also had +90int/stam from fortune cookie buff too.

I imagine priests have this buff, locks can use shadow ward, everyone else go beg/buy/borrow/steal a priest for this boss. Good luck!

After many deaths last night in my ordinary affliction spec, I respecced to this: 31/10/0.
I had my felhound on defensive (so it wouldn't change target by itself) and used this macro when a Twilight Invader approached:
/focus target
/tar twilight invader
/focus target
/targetlasttarget
/petattack
/castsequence reset=10 fear, corruption, bane of agony
(For those who don't "speak macro", it first focuses on the Twilight Invader while keeping target on Thyrinar. It then tells my pet to tank the invader while I fear and instant dot it. Nevermind that fear is broken because it is slowed afterwards). I never soulswapped.

I died once because the first version of the macro was not working as intended, then on the next attempt he died.

Instead of Chaos Brand, I kept Curse of Tongues on Thyrinar the whole time. Instead of , I used . I only Shadow Bolt'ed when procced, otherwise I 'ed.

I guess the Charred Glyph was not needed since I didn't even use the healthstone :D

I hope to add a few quick tips that I think have been missed for warlocks. As some background I am an affliction warlock, ilvl 375. I did not change my raiding spec or even my glyphs (in retrospect that was stupid, the ideas here are great ideas) so it is doable in pure raiding spec (though I did use my demonology soloing spec for the dogs). I used fel armor for the entire dungeon and I am an alchemist, so my healing potions healed me for a bit extra.

The two tips I can offer both apply to the final boss of the challenge, Thyrinar.

The first is regarding the use of demonic circle. I found that it was a huge help to, during the breath phase, run the breath over to one side of the platform, and then teleport to my circle on the other side, giving me some much needed time to put my dots on the boss, especially haunt and UA.

The second tip is more interesting but less usefull. Thyrinar doesn't reset immediately when you die. He will not reset until after he has finished his breath (if you die during the breath phase) or for a few seconds if you die during any other time. This gives you a short window to revive if you have used your soulstone ahead of time. It's a risky move, but if done right you can get back on your feet (especially if you haven't used your potion yet). I would save this trick until you have him VERY low on health, it's usually not worth it otherwise. I personally used this trick on my last attempt, reviving when he was at 6000 health for the last bit of damage I needed.

As a priest, going attonement disc spec for the gauntlet up to the boss makes everything laughable, you'll never go below 90% health. As for the boss however, its greatly advised to be shadow. Killing him as disc IS possible but it takes FOR-EV-ER. In full 378 firelands gear I was barely able to kill the add before the next one spawned

WARLOCKS listen up.
There are several very helpful hints in the previous comments on how to do this as a lock and I agree fully on the fact that the last boss is incredibly hard as a lock, especially if you (as I) aren't used to playing affli spec, HOWEVER, there are a few things that I found made all the difference.

Info: My mainspec is demo and I barely ever play affliction and as such I'm not a pro affli player, yet I got it down by following the steps below. I didn't change any of my raiding glyphs in order to get it down. I didn't use any macros or addons that made the fight easier.

First of all, this quest is BUGGED. Your pet will randomly get stuck randomly if you have it on anything but PASSIVE, this is the most important thing you need to remember in order to down this boss. If your pet (which MUST be Felhunter) gets stuck you can't use Devour Magic to remove his shield/healing and you wont be killing this guy any time soon (as I realized after 20-something increasingly aggrevating wipes).

Secondly, affli is by far the best spec for this. DRAIN LIFE is what this fight is all about. Use it as a filler at all times, only use Shadow Bolt when it's free (if you have the glyph).

3. Have the dragon on Focus, it'll make it easier to use Devour Magic in time.

4. Have a summoning portal at the edge of the platform right at the ramp, it gives you time to re-dot even with the breath following you and you wont ever get cornered

5. Use instead of . This fight is NOT about maximizing dps, there's no enrage timer and the extreme importance of Drain Life makes Demon Armor amazing for this.

Like I said I had 20-odd wipes at around ~25% before I did 3 things: 1. Put my Felhunter on passive. 2. Put my summoning portal at the entrance to the platform. 3. Used Demon Armor instead of Fel Armor.

After having made these three little corrections I one-shotted it. So just follow these few little things and even without great affli-expertise, gear and glyphs you should be able to get it down without too much trouble.

Apart from these hints just single target the adds down when they appear and all that, not much to that.

oh and also my gear ilvl is about 377 in affli BUT about three quarters of the gear is gemmed, reforged and statted for demo which is terrible for affli.

Did this for a friend on his lock, he had been trying to complete this quest for days. I've never played a lock before, got it down in about 3 hours. I needed to change his talents and of course all his action bars. Also needed to read Elitist Jerks so I knew how to play a lock. Went with a Affliction build with points in Demon Armor and pet healing. This fight is all about purging his self heal. If you can master that, and kill the adds quickly, the rest is pretty easy.

P.S. Also, I am heaps proud of being able to complete this quest in only a few hours after having never played a lock before!

Here are some extra tips to go along with everything that has already been written about this boss

Use Curse of Tongues on Thyrinar this will slow his cast speed meaning he fires less damage at you and also leaves you more room to wait for an interupt.

Here are some macros I used during the fight to leave you less to think about in terms of targetting.

I macroed both Devour Magic and Spell Lock to target and cast on Thyrinar so i didnt have to worry about what i was targetting when i needed to use them fast.

Make no mistake! This quest is incredibly difficult. I am a Shadow Priest. I accidently started the boss fight in my regular PVE spec (without silence) and found that I was doing a lot more dps than my PVP spec. I was having a hard time with the adds overrunning me. Unfortunately, my stubborness about using Mind Spike was my problem. The trick for me turned out to be this rotation on the adds: Mind Spike, Mind Spike, Mind Spike, then Mind Blast; and then a Shadow Word: Death to finish off if needed. If you are running away from the breath while an add is up, just DoT it up and fear. The marcoed Dispel worked very well. Oh and I marcoed the Mind Spike to target the add first (Twilight Invader). Do not use /stopcasting in the Mind Spike marco or you will keep on interrupting yourself... DOH!

The Fight was very difficult, and I hope I will never have to do it again. Good Luck to all of you!

Dear warlocks!

After a 180th wipe (lol, me) I have done this quest in a destro PvP spec.

Main idea - use Felhunter (yep) and Nether Prot.

How I've done the boss:
15 sec before pull - NP activated.
5 sec before pull - burning soul and shard regen.
1 sec before pull - prepot.

First cast - survive with NP. Second cast eaten by a dog. After this the boss comes right to you and BEs can silence him with the racial ability. Bubble eaten by a dog. Ran for my life and used NP constantly.

How I've done the adds:
1) shadowfury him before he charges
2) use immo+conflag - in PvP spec he will not reach you.
3) don't forget - he regens your shards, when you finish him with soulburn which means more DPS to you.

Tricks:
only release infernal for adds after BL
if it gets bad, use a healthstone, when you have a break - redo the stone
get yourself a legendary healthpot for baaaaaad situations
get as many buffs as you can. If your friend are all busy, get down to an inscripter for extra HP.
sometimes it gets really bad. Use a soulstone, you have about 5 seconds to get up before the dragon evades.
glyph of soulburn (which I use in PvP soooo much) really helps after BL. If you crit (and you will, a lot), it's a double damage of 45-70k

May have already been said.... but just want to warn people:

Despite the availability of "portals" when you make it through to the different stages, don't get logged out for any period of time before you beat the boss to finish this quest.

For example if a storm comes though and knocks your power out... which you cannot stop from happening. cough cough Blizzard.... grrrrrr

Your quest RESETS. No more portals. You get to start the whole wonderful thing over again. I don't know how long before the reset. My power was out from 3:45p EST to about 9pm EST.

Another warlock perspective :)
This fight came as quite a shock to the system, having been solid Destruction for years.

Affliction (with Drain Life filler) is indeed necessary; the healing from Haunt and Drain Life will be your mainstay. As such, if you make a spec just for this fight, the talents from Destruction that improve Shadow Bolt are not necessary. Take stuff like , , and from Demonology instead. Making Howl of Terror instant can probably help, though I did it without. I used Demon Armor instead of Fel Armor. The glyphs for Soul Swap and Shadowflame are useful.

You will need the Felhunter out, set to Passive, and know how to order it to attack and return. Do NOT use Soul Link unless you have Fel Synergy; even then, be critical about how long your Felhunter can last and adjust your use of Soul Link accordingly. Don't forget to put Dark Intent on it, if only for the personal haste.

If you haven't already, make macros for casting Spell Lock and Devour Magic at your focus target. These are:

Bind those to appropriate keys/buttons or otherwise make them fluidly accessible for quick, precise use.

As you start the encounter, remember to set Thyrinar as your focus, and use the constant display of his buffs and cast bar to your advantage. Stand close to the edge by which he ascends! He begins the fight several yards in the air, which puts certain key abilities of yours out of range from the middle. Cast Shadow Ward just before it starts, and keep using that throughout. Once he is attackable, get your DOTs on him (use Agony because it works with glyphed Soul Swap) and interrupt his first or second Twilight Blast. He will fly down to you while spell-locked; get him to move more over the platform if you can. Use Demon Soul early, that should grant you a second use later. Pop Doomguard.

Use Devour Magic every time his healing shield (Twilight Restoration) goes up. Your pet needs to be close enough for this, so either try to stay close or, in a pinch, give your pet a move order to get it closer. Don't interrupt Twilight Restoration, always devour it instead and save Spell Lock for Twilight Blast.

When the breath comes, just keep moving while refreshing DOTs (remember not to refresh Bane of Agony before the old one finishes!) and hitting the boss with Fel Flame. You can just about run through fire on the ground if you really must, but do NOT get hit by the source breath directly. Lead the breath either around the outer edge, or wave it back and forth within one quadrant of the platform.

Keep an eye on the ramp; you'll get your first add after the first breath. Try to Soul Swap from the boss with as many DOTs up as you can manage in the amount of time you have before the add reaches the platform. Tell your pet to attack the add, and Shadowflame it when it charges at you. Use Haunt and Drain Life on the add, while watching the boss's unit frame so you can hit Spell Lock / Devour Magic if necessary. Using your Death Coil to prevent the fire nova is a good idea. Switch back to the boss, remember Shadow Wards, prioritise Haunt and Drain Life to recover from the add. Refresh DOTs only when you're feeling stable again health-wise.

The second add will come at the same time as a breath, which in some ways is a bonus. Order your pet to attack it as a priority, then do the Soul Swap if you haven't already. Hit the add with Shadowflame, then spam it with Fel Flame.

If you regularly make it this far, you'll get into the rhythm of things. Remember that you get an add spawn slightly more often than you get a breath-phase. If you can get the boss's health low (I hear 20% though it feels more like 15% due to the role-play), you will get a nice haste buff for a bit, so take advantage of it by spamming some Drain Life. The fight does continue, so keep it up!

Curse: I did it by using Curse of Tongues. It doesn't have to be maintained perfectly, just use it when you can.

About healthstones, I found that using one reasonably early can allow for a second use later. If you aim to do that, the best time to conjure a new stone is just after using Spell Lock. Don't necessarily wait for the cooldown of Healthstone to finish before making a new one.

About the ramp, you can venture down it for some early add damage if you want, but I wouldn't get too far away for too long since you still need to attack and interrupt/dispel the boss.

Demonic Circle is not particularly useful beyond returning to the platform after heading down the ramp.

Drain Soul after 25% is very tempting, but I think the healing from Haunt and Drain Life is probably worth more.

If you die, the boss does not seem to reset until you actually release. By all means try to recover if you Soulstoned; your first priority will be to Soulburn-summon the Felhunter and interrupt the boss while draining some life. Recovery while an add is up would be... improbable :)

All in all, remember to keep using everything mentioned. Keep using Shadow Ward, keep the boss dispelled of Twilight Restoration, hit every add with Soul Swap and pet attack, and prioritise Haunt and Drain Life if there is health to be gained.

Finally, general tip for Destruction mains: Unstable Affliction is easy to forget. Destro has a built-in way of reminding you to keep Immolate up (i.e. required for Conflagrate) but Affliction has no such reminder for UA. Try to retain the DOT uptime training without the need for a reminder, and remember that Fel Flame extends the duration of UA as it does Immolate.

Do take a look at what other warlocks are saying here; reading multiple accounts of it will help. Try to ignore the relative ease of other classes and get down to practising it instead.

Not too bad for affliction warlock once I saw the fight. Main thing is, don't panic!

I would not recommend using spell lock right off the bat, have shadow ward up as he is flying up, and get all dots, haunt, and coe on him. after he does a little damage to you then pop spell lock on cast as this is the time to spam drain life until he can start casting again. always have haunt up and spam drain life when he is spell locked.

Just avoid breath and wait until the add spawns to soul swap, pop it on add and sick passive pet on the add and he will die quickly as you move back to boss. at this time he usually has his heal buff on, so getting near him to dispel is essential.

Continue to keep all dots up, spell lock and shadow ward when able and make sure 3 dots and haunt are up and drain life while he can't cast as he usually flies across the platform at this point allowing you precious time to get your health back up. Always soul swap and place on add along with pet when it spawns.

When you receive haste buff, pop doomguard, make sure haunt and 3 dots are up and spam drain life in between haunt casts. i soul swapped on the first add to make sure i didn't foolishly die, and make sure to dispel when healing buff goes up as it is easy to miss.

Edit: I also saved soulburn to instant cast felhunter if he died. You don't really need it for anything else.

Doing this as a warlock can be very difficult. I found that the best way to do this was as affliction with a very survival-ish. Basically if it gives you health or has a chance to give you health, I put points into it. I noticed that my fel hunter was dying, so I put points into fel synergy, and the stamina boost in the demo tree, plus demonic aegis.

Some tips while fighting the boss:

-Put your pet on passive, and manually use his devour magic ability to dispel the restoration on the boss.

-I made a macro that would use soul swap on the boss, target the add, use exhale, have my pet attack the add, then retarget the boss. The benefit of this was I hit one button and can keep attacking the boss.

-Time is key. I used curse of elements, put all my dots on, then drain life, refreshing as needed. Can't really afford to spend time switching back and forth between adds.

- I really didn't find a use for the lock teleportation, I just kited the fire he breathes around the outside of the platform, using fel flame as I was running and refreshing instant dots.

-Demon armor is the better armor to use for this fight, especially with demonic aegis. Yes the spell power is nice with fel armor, but the health regen from demon armor is almost mandatory.

I would also bring int food, flasks, and make a healthstone at the start of every fight. I spent easily 4 hours on this quest, and it looks like other people spent a lot of time as well, so I would prepare for a long time spent. Hope this helps.

Did this with frost and arcane spec last night. It was surprisingly easy using the specs for the appropriate areas (boss fight included). Explained below. Note: this is mainly towards mages who are doing this quest, although a lot of what's covered can be used regardless of class.

PART 1 (before save point)

Frost and fire are no undoubtedly the easiest specs to use for this part of the quest, with frost preferred. With Nova, Freeze, CoF, RoF, etc., it's cake to handle mobs coming at you while you're blinking away and burning them down. You can do this with arcane spec as well as you can burn mobs faster with that spec, but you'll need to be a bit more nimble with your Novas, Blink, Slow, and RoF to prevent getting smacked on.

Almost all the mobs (except for the sentinels and I think the dog mini-boss before the save point), can be CCed. This is handy as more than enough times there'll be more than one mob coming at you.

When you get to the part where you're frozen by Tarecgosa, a snaring debuff will be casted on you while she runs ahead, engages a sentinel, and continues to run up the ramp past the icy breath walls with the frozen wraiths. THIS IS NORMAL. Don't try to catch up to her. I made that mistake a couple of times and ended up training all the spirits on me and /faceplanting. Instead, 3 dogs will show up. Just CC one of them, and burn the others.

After the 3 dogs, the upcoming upwards hallway full of frozen wraiths can be bypassed by simply invisi-ing and just.. walk up - no fighting is necessary. If you do accidentally aggro any (and you probably will once you get to the top), they have ridiculously low health, so don't worry.

Once you get to the top, you'll notice two sentinels holding Tarecgosa in place. Fight each sentinel one at a time OUTSIDE of the room. Don't try to engage them in the room or you'll risk aggroing both of them.

Taracgosa will ask you to protect her while you engage a mini-boss. The mini-boss fight with the dog is simple: just fight them the same way you've been doing with the regular dogs. Just make sure to keep out of its casts it throws at you and keep moving and you'll do fine.

SAVE POINT! Once you beat the dog, if you die from this point on you can simply use the blue portal to get back to this spot. No more running around!

PART 2 (after the mini-boss fight, before the final boss fight)

This part of the quest you're floating on platforms while engaging mobs. You'll be moving to the right the whole time trying to get to the ground, so engage mobs with that in mind: to the right.

The engagement pattern is pretty straight forward.

You're on smaller platform, kill mob on bigger platform as it comes to you.
Click on the orbs to keep shield on you to reduce damage from mobs and blast (a warning will be shouted when the blast is coming)
Once mob on big platform is dead, hop on it.
Smaller mobs (one or two) will rise and engage you. CC one of them and engage the other, keeping the shield on you at all times.
Once both of them are dead, hop onto the smaller platform and it'll keep moving you forward.
Repeat.

Note: When you get a warning that a big cast/blast is coming, renew your shield by clicking on another orb. Otherwise, your shield may have taken significant amount of damage already and may not absorb all of the blast's damage.

When you jump down, don't engage any mobs! Tarecgosa will come flying out of nowhere and kill everything for you. Follow the path and up the ramp to start the boss fight.

Another save point!

BOSS FIGHT

The boss fight is pretty straight forward. Helpful hints:

Arcane spec makes this fight super easy. At start of fight, start your burn cycle, and pop Timewarp. You should be able to down the boss from 50% (the boss' HP starts at 50%) to about 20-25% from just that cycle alone, and the beginning of the fight offers the largest window for your burn cycle before he starts casting breath so your burn cycle won't be interrupted.
I keep focus on Thyrinar. That way, if I am fighting the adds that come, I can still see if the Thyrinar has Twilight Restoration on, and Spellsteal ASAP. You want to steal, not dispel, this as much as possible as it heals you and protects you.
When he casts breath and it follows you like a bad James Bond laser weapon, run in a circle spiraling outward, but don't make the circles so big that it traps you or leaves you with very little room to move and fight afterwards (the breath leaves fire on the ground).
The adds are a pain, but nothing you haven't handled before. Keep a good distance away from them and interrupt their AOE cast (or just keep away from it when it's casting). This is where keeping focus on the boss comes in handy, as it allows you to switch target between boss and add easier. Kill add ASAP and continue burning boss down.

Once the boss is dead, click the shiny ball on the ground in front of Tarecgosa and you're done!

Ok, I have posted earlier in this thread about moonkins doing this. I basically said it was useless to do! Sorry but I was wrong - did it after 5 attempts today and I didn't even respec or change my action bars for it which is the advice I was given.

Phase One - bear tank it - seriously it is the easiest thing in the world on phase one. You hardly take any damage. Even if you don't play a bear (I don't, am strictly balance) you can do this. I did spend some vp on gear, purely because I got the tanking bug after the first few wipes.

Phase Two - so easy - needs no explanation.

Phase Three - ahhhhh phase three - the bane of my life for weeks. I only tried this at weekends so i could spend a lot of time without grouping up for guild raids etc. Spent so much money on repairs, flasks etc but it just worked today - odd.

Heres how I did it.

Had a pally and priest from my guild waiting outside the entrance to buff me up. Intellect flask and food. Ran up the ramp and planted mushrooms in the centre for the first add. Stood by Tarecgosas side and 3 x LB. Switched to moonkin and waitied until you could attack Thryinar. Solar Beam him then typhoon him - in the meantime popped barskin and potion - IS, MF and then went into rotation for as long as i could before he moved position to cast his beam. Started running in a circle on outside of platform whilst casting LB and rejuv. The beam doesnt quite close the circle so you can run into your mushrooms to wait for first add. Starfall whilst dotting Thyrinar and your first add should be down easy. Solar beam him again and then LB and rejuv and HT. Some more dots. Now for the next beam, I actually took it down the ramp so i could dps the add before he started to attack me (they dont attack you on their way up the ramp). So the add is down, heal yourself up - run back up, hit the boss with whatever you can. I do the ramp thing again in time for third add. Run back up and then you should be nearing the buff stage. Another add will appear - make this your PRIO and then heal yourself up. Then spam the boss for all your worth. I actually killed him, and I had like 2k life left - an add appeared and actually killed me on the ramp. I thought i had wiped again - was so upset! Ran back in and luckily Tarecgosa was alive and well and i had actually completed it.

This was one of the hardest things I had to do - so looking forward to carrying on now! Even the old FL grind doesn't bother me - just a relief to get this done.

I would like to add some information about part which was most hard for me. Im Balance Drood and at first when I starded doing Nexus, I found it realy difficult, especialy part when you have to get up to 1st boss through small voids with +-3k HP. Easy to kill them but they do #$%^load of dmg So they always nuked me. I tried to kill them one by one or rush up with dash, but i always died or lost NPC. (at least i thought so)

Then one time i used Dash to rush it up.. I used Hurricane to nuke inc voids and then, root and hibernate beast and continue with killing 3rd dog So I didnt have to bother with them during "boss" fight. After killing those adds I just went into room with my npc that changed into dragon form again. (Which i didnt noticed before) and killed rest of adds.

What i wanted to say is that it doesnt matter, if you kill them one by one or rush up. NPC wont despawn untill you die. All you need to do is just get into his room alive, no matter how.

If you are a Frost mage there is a confirmed bug that if you have this quest in your log, but have to leave the Nexus early (as in, having to get to your raid, lol), your water elemental can wind up frozen in a block of ice and thus useless.

I had to run most of the night without my ele, and when I finally died 2 hours later, the bug was resolved. GMs confirmed it is being worked on.

If you suffer the same issue.. just take a lava bath and hope for the best. =)

If u are saved to Malygos u can't complete the quest.When u try to speak Tarecgosa after defeating encounter you fall down from rift.I spoke to a gm and he confirmed.Now i have to wait till reset to do it again.I dont care at all it was luxury as a discipline priest:)

About the quest:
I did it with atonement.Just use macro to dispel and try to kill adds fast.It's quite easy.

I completed this quest as a Demo lock using Felhunter pet. At beginning I used Fel Flame and then Spell Lock immediately after. Applied my DoTs and popped Doomgaurd. Then used CDs and burned the boss making sure I used the Felhunters ability to dispel and silence. Mainly stayed right on the boss as so my Felhunter could attack also. When first add came out I threw Bane of Doom on it so my Doomgaurd would attack it and sent my pet after and corruption. Add went down quick while I was focusing on boss again. When 2nd add came out I feared it and turned and burned down the boss quickly and never paid attention to 2nd add after fearing it. I was able to get boss down before the 3rd add even came up the ramp.

I don't think I have ever been so frustrated and angry with a quest in WoW before... pretty much ever. My poor husband kept trying to give me advice each time I died, until he finally retreated to the bedroom because I bit his head off in irritation.

I ran this as an elemental shaman in 2/4 T12, 377iL. The beginning two parts were fairly easy (especially after I figured out that you are NOT supposed to follow her when she runs off... this equals instant death), but the boss at the end.... AUGH.

I wiped for nearly 3 1/2 hours on this last boss, and each time I died I got more and more angry. About 1 1/2 hours in I wiped with the boss at 0.5%, and I had to walk away before I physically put my hand through my computer screen.

For me the trick was making sure I had my totems dropped at the right time. The biggest thing that will help you is the Charred Glyph. This gave me just the extra edge I needed, along with respeccing to http://www.wowhead.com/talent#hbGuGRfkzGZbhMZb:romqor.

I made to sure to drop Grounding Totem right as Tarecgosa landed on the ground. This made it so I could wind shock the first Twilight Blast, let the Grounding Totem eat the second, shock the third, and have Grounding Totem up again for the fourth, then wind shock. This completely takes care of Phase 1 without any of the Twilight Blasts being able to hit you.

During phase two, I ran in a tight circle starting from the middle, and let the breath make a small circle in the center so that I could still shuffle to the front and let wind shock reach him once he was done channeling. I dropped my fire elemental for the first time after this to let it handle the add. After eating a few Twilight Blasts (and make sure you drop stoneclaw before the ones you're going to be hit with to help mitigate the damage), I dropped Earth elemental to deal with the second add while turning on Spiritwalker's Grace so that I could heal myself while I ran from the second round of the channeling.

Rinse/repeat. I dropped fire elemental again for the next add, and also used the lightning bolt glyph that lets you cast while moving to kill the next add while running from the channel.

Honestly, it all came down to luck and things falling into place exactly correct for the time I finally beat the *choice expletive here* boss. And I was so angry by the time I DID beat him, I wasn't even thrilled to be moving on to the next part of the quest.

I have to say, the favoritism towards arcane mages is astounding for this part of the quest chain, and it really should be balanced out for caster's in general. I can only imagine trying to do this as a boomkin.

Yes a tough but great fight. (well done Blizzard). I did it as an arcane mage, which is great for burst dps but not good for DOTs or heals. Much of the final fight requires movement and most of the damage you take is unavoidable so arcane is not that easy.

Using your normal CCs and focusing on the adds first will get you to the final boss.

Final boss gave me 3 wipes until I adjusted my strategy. This is what finally worked for me:
Phase 1:
- Start on the north edge of the platform near Tarecgosa and use timewap, orb, arcane power, etc (we all made a macro for this...right) and burn him down. Dont worry about interrupting just burn him down. I got him down to about 20-25% and he took me down to about 60% health but you spellsteal his healing buff (an absolute must) and you will be back at 100%.
Phase 2:
when laser beam comes stop everything and move. I ran in a circle at front of platform to keep the bottom half clear to move in. An add will come from the bottom of the ramp. Meet him half way and he is easy to kill with a few arcane blasts. He will ignore you until he gets to the top so kill quickly and he will not hurt you or bring more adds.
Damage continues from dragon so keep going back to him when the add is down. Watch closely to get your second spellsteal in on his next heal. That is a must to get your health back up for final burn as evocation takes too long to use.
Repeat steps as needed until he gets to 10% health. Enjoy the haste and victory that will soon be is coming.

Some additional help, and might help with other classes too.

1.) you can actually fight trash down off the ramp where you first land at. I didn't go too far but i did do a pretty big area. Also if the boss is far enough away he wont cast anything at you so it's a chance to get your head back in the game and bandage up etc...

2.) Not sure on this point, but i think the fire also hurts the adds, so if you stay close to where his fire breath comes out, with an add behind you, you should be able to dmg them.

3.) If you go down the ramp, make sure to hug the outside edge as the fire doesn't follow exactly behind you. If you don't you have to wait for the fire to fade before you go back up the bridge.

For Moonkins specifically, you can get a good bit of damage right off the get go doing this:

When taragosa (sp?) lands, hot up fast. You have a small period of time before the boss comes out. Once he comes out get dots up, cast a wrath or starfire, depending on what your eclipse state is, then cast Solar Beam (if you don't have this ability, go get it). continue with your nuke until he starts to cast, then typhoon him back, cast one more nuke (if your lucky and he lands back in solar, you might get two nukes off), then re-hot, Dot, and run. At this point i cast the first barkskin.

I went down to the end of the platform and waited for his flame then went down the ramp and cast bigger heals and dotted adds. Nature's grasp is your friend as it helps give you some breathing space, but dont' rely on it.

If you use treants, put them on defensive, otherwise they go and stare at the boss not doing anything. This way they will hit the adds that hit you.

Keep some bandages and healing pots handy. I used bandages when out of range of the balls of death, and a pot when i got too low.

Everything else that was said above by myelf is accurate, and once you realize how unimportant dmging the boss is compared to the adds, the easier it gets. I think i did this around 15-20 times (counting some platform glitches) before i downed the boss. Happy hunting.

Successfully completed the whole event as feraldps.

It all started as a thing to discover and see how far i'd come :)

First run-through to get to the platforms are as many pointed out - probably easier as feral as you can tank and you barrely take any damage.

During the time on the platforms, as i didnt know what to expect, i was stuck and all damage i could do was a rotation with faerie fire in bear form and then swap and cast a wrath or two. Took me an hour to get past these mobs on disks. Once thats done i had a portal to the last stage which helped since i did wipe once on the last boss. Spent about an hour on my first attempt trying to figure out what i could possibly do. What i learned from that attempt was that you can stand at the far end of the place (as far away as possible from the platform) and be able to outrange the dragon's spells, however, adds were still coming. Worth noticing was that until then i had be going with a beartank spec which wasnt ideal.

Second try (with feral dps spec) I noticed that once hes flying to a new spot around his platform he's actually crossing the platform and becoming attackable in melee. He does this approximately one minute apart. Sometimes his rotation of flying change, so i had always made sure to have cds ready for the worst. Once he started flying i popped all my dps CDs and made about 100-400k damage depending how he crossed the platform. Also, when i got up to the platform which i timed to be a few seconds before he would take off it is possible to swipe him but not melee him in any other way. When i werent on the platform i was, as in my first attempt, positioned as far away as possible - killing the adds and self-healing. Another thing that happened, altough rarely (about 3 times during my one hour second attempt), was that he left his platform and flew in range of me to cast his spells. It can be your death unless you have CDs to mitigate and outheal but it can also be an opportunity if he position himself on the ramp as you will there have him in melee range (might be needing to jump, i did have to to reach him). Its really up to you if he will position himself on the ramp during this "bugged behaviour" as he will fly straight towards you and if you run so that the ramp is the closest way for him to reach you, yeah well then thats what hes going to do.

The hour i needed can indeed be shorter if you time it better, not being as careful as i was etc...

THE GREAT THING ABOUT GETTING HERE IS: ... if you die, you'll get a portal.... finally IE: Kill those last 2 giants, and if you die on the next part,like me - you zone back into the Nexus and for once DON'T have to do it all over again! Wahoo!

This is a great post but I did kill the 2 giants, then she stood around clearing an ice wall when a giant dog came and killed me. And I didn't get a portal. So watch out for the giant dog, and the purple stuff he did (I didn't even think I was standing in it but I apparently was).

I'm the only caster dps main in my guild, but really if I had known this escort was going to happen I wouldn't even have bothered getting the embers; I would have let somebody's alt have them. Now I feel guilty for taking the embers and I feel like I have to try and do this quest somehow.

As a moonkin, it took me a while to get this right. Alot of the comments on here helped me out quite a bit...

I just wanted to write about what worked for me...

Forget flasking with draconic mind, the Prismatic Elixer is where it's at. This combined with your MotW, will reduce the damage you take noticably. Healing Potions are also incredibly useful in this fight in case you make a mistake and let something hit you.

Clearing the trash is pretty simple. Let Tarecgosa tank the big guys while you kill the dogs. I found it pretty easy to root one, kill the other, kill the rooted one, then kill the big guy. When you see a puddle forming under the big guy, strafe to the side and the puddle will appear where you were just standing, and not under your feet. You can avoid damage completely until he starts to melee you.

While Tarecgosa is melting the ice wall, the large dog that attacks is pretty easily taken care of as long as you keep moving....try to stay behind him to avoid flames.

The chasm was by far the easiest part of the trash clearing. just nuke and heal before you jump to your next platform. if you make a mistake, clicking the orbs placed around the large platforms will give you a chance to stay ahead on damage.

Thyrinar is where things get tricky. He deals a TON of damage. Make sure you have your bars set up so that you can both move and cast your instant casts efficiently. Imo, the very beginning of the flight is the most crucial.
Before the fight starts, place your mushrooms at the top of the ramp.

As soon as he starts channeling his first ability, silence him, this will bring him down to melee range. he moves pretty slowly so this gives you time to dot him up and nuke the crap out of him. when he starts casting again, knock him back with your typhoon and continue to nuke (do not use your bark skin yet). When he starts to cast his breath, run around the outside of the platform. This ability will last for about the amount of time for you to run around ~80% of the platform. Re-dot boss, barkskin and nuke until first add is in range of mushrooms. Blow add up and when he dashes at you, typhoon him back into the mushroom spot so that it slows him. He should be easy enough to finish off at this point. Now your silence will be back up, you can silence boss and nuke some more....or use this reprieve to heal. By this point, the boss will probably be in the 25-30% neighborhood.

After this first rotation, improvisation will likely carry you the rest of the way through the fight as you get more and more adds comming at you. Natures grasp, bark skin and silence boss on cool down...keep dots up on boss. One helpful thing I found was to run down one side of the ramp during the breath, doting up adds as you go...This will leave room for you to run back up the platform to refresh dots and nuke if you have time. I also found it easier to control the adds at the bottom of the ramp because I had more room to run from them if my natures grasp was on cd. If you can root them on the ramp and drag his breath over them, even better.

Don't forget, if your CDs (solarbeam, natures grasp, barkskin, and thorns) are all on, well, cd... you can change into cat and dash to the bottom of the ramp to heal up (there are places in the large area that Thyrinar wont hurt you in). Your dots do an indredible amount of damage....let them do the work on the boss.

One last thing, when I killed him, the game glitched and when I went up to click the orb, the encounter started all over again. If this happens to you, the orb will still be clickable! Click it and everything will despawn. (it took me a couple of pulls just to figure this out.....but then, I can be a little dense)

I'm a pretty average player, it took me about 3-4 hours to kill this guy....but it is possible even if you aren't "pro". I hope this was helpful, and good luck!

It is a tough fight. But the encounter is tailored to each class. For boomkins, there is a whole ability he doesn't use, and the encounter starts with him at half health.

I read up all of your comments on how to do this quest, and after 5 frustrating hours and about 22 attemps, I did it. What everyone here leaves out, I will try my best to fill in.

First I am an arcane mage, with a current iLv of 372. The reality is that if you know what to do, you can finish it in one shot in less time than it takes to read all these comments.

To begin with, I strongly recommend you bring lots of embersilk bandages, as combat is in check even when you don't have enemies to attack, and when not in combat, eat mana cakes to restore your mana and health. Flask up and have volcanic potions available for the end boss. For most of the encounters, I used my mana shield repeatedly. I also have the "Mage Nuggets" add-on active here to tell me when to spell steal etc.

The first chamber holds an Icebound Sentinal, a lv 85 elite with 778k health. Let Tarecgosa tank it, meaning do not pull aggro, slowly arcane blast and when you can use the missiles, use them, watch for the buff "Return Fire" to steal it, this is what killed me the most. The Icebound Sentinal will every 7-9 seconds cause an ice spike to erupt from the floor under you, easily avoided, but make sure to be far enough away from it as it does about a third of your health damage. Shortly after attacking the sentinal, a dog appears, from the left back of the room, where you eventually will go once this encounter is done. Focus on it, and once again, watch for the "Draw Magic" buff it has to steal it, this will benefit both you and Tarecgosa. It is a normal 85 mob. Go back to the sentinal after killing the dog, remember to watch for the buff and steal it. Near the end of the fight, a second dog will appear, same tactics, if you are good, you may find it does not show up until you are on your way down the fog shielded corridor, it will follow and attack. I found that right after killing the sentinal, I had to eat mana cakes, when Tarecgosa runs past you thru the inactive fog wall, follow quickly, you have 5 seconds or so between walls opening in the corridor. Eat if you have to between them. Do NOT run thru the wall of fog!
At the end of this short passage lies another Icebound Sentinal and 2 dogs together, let her tank the sentinal again, same tactics. Kill the dogs first, then the sentinal. After this fight, run about 2/3 of the way up the corridor to the end, then eat mana cakes. She will say that sentnals are coming and she puts you in an "Ice Block", deceiving the sentinals. Wait for the dialog and when you are released from the block, you'll be slowed. Turn around and walk backwards as you will then see that 3 more dogs show up abought half way between the exits, put up your mana shield and then arcane explosion/blast them, spell steal the buffs and keep your shield up to blow them backwards when it shatters.

Once they are dead, head to the end of the hall, here you see frozen non-elite mobs, all easily killed with a couple of arcane explosions as you walk thru another set of fog walls. They respawn quickly, so keep spamming the arcane explosions til your are thru.

Run to the end of the hall, on the right, Tarecgosa (back in dragon form) is held in stasis by 2 Ice bound Sentinals, they are at 50% health. Use your bandages here to heal up as you are technically still in combat before you engage.

Draw out the closest sentinal into the hall, same tactics, arcane blast, missiles, watch the floor spike, spell steal the "Return Fire" buff and then heal up with more bandages after. The other one is at the far end of the chamber, behind her. Same tactics.

After this, she walks out to the other hall opening and asks you to cover for her as she melts the ice wall there. Only one dog comes, but an elite 85, Ceredos, he has a breath weapon, and will pause briefly before casting it at you, move quickly , I used my mirror Image spell here to keep him distracted while poping arcane power and using my Moon Well Trinket the fight was over quickly enuf.

After him, Tarecgosa is through the wall, she asks you to jump on the platforms to get to the other side. If you die here, you will be able to enter a portal where you initially met Tarecgosa to bring you back to this spot, so don't worry about redoing the whole fight to this point. The first platform is hovering near you, I went and stayed to the right side for this. Once on it, you float over to the closest platform with a dragonkin on it, arcane blast him, and remember to turn to face him first. the platform you are on will rotate around his. You should easily be able to kill him before he shadow nova's you, else that attacks takes 3/4 of your health. You will see little globes on his larger platform you can "use" by right clicking on them (the gear icon shows up) these will give you mana regen & a shield for 10 seconds that reduced damage by 50%. When done, do not jump to the empty platform til you heal up, since you are moving, eating is impossible, use bandages again.

Jump to the empty platform, and 2 smaller non-elite dragonkin float up, arcane blast them, use the shield bubbles, after, heal up with bandages, and take the platform on the right. It floats over to the next right farther platform, another elite dragonkin, same proceedure. before jumping on his platform, as you are floating around in circles, I killed the two closest elite dragonkin on their platforms from this smaller one to make it easier to get across. Once you jump on the big one, 2 more non-elites float up, again, same tactics, kiill them and heal up.

On the jumping over to the third large platform, the large dragon that Tarecgosa is holding in check comes to you and breaths on you, I died here too as I didn't realize to jump over to a smaller floating platform quickly enuf.

After you kill him, your large platform floats over to the far shelf, you have Tarecgosa come over and you land on the ground. You don't have to kill the dragonkin mobs, Tarecgosa flies over and breaths on all of them, clearing your path to the boss.

The Boss: If you die here, the portal at the beginning will bring you to the platform where you landed here. Heal up before you run up the ramp. Once up there, Tarecgosa talks, and the boss comes up behind her, stasis's her and you have to fight him. I poped my arcane power, moon well trinket, drank a volcanic potion and used the flame orb first, then time warped. I blasted him and stole his buff "Twilight Restoration" which kept me alive in this encounter til the breath weapon came, then ran away from it and a circle around the far edges of the platform. By this time a non-elite add appeared and I killed him, I kept on the boss after, and stole his buff everytime it showed up, I had a second breath weapon from the boss and then a second add come up the ramp again. After this, Tarecgosa gives me her version of a time warp and by the time I went thru that, the boss was down.

Remember in this whole fight, the "Spell Steal" is key to success. Avoid the obvious and be patient, you will succeed this way.

I went through this event as a feral druid a few days ago.

For anybody wondering why would a feral face a quest which is designed around casters, the reasons are:

-We didn't know where to throw Eternal Embers anymore in our guild, since almost everybody has at least completed the first steps of the Dragonwrath's questline, so I got 25 of them in the end, even if my mainspec is feral bear and my offspec is feral cat.
-I don't have a balance nor a restoration gear with me, for reasons too long to explain.
-I had expected the quest to be designed around casters, but I couldn't imagine I would have met such harsh barriers against a melee in its final part, such as mobs constantly out of melee range.
-I love challenges, and I love that special feeling whenever I overcome an obstacle that at first I thought would stop me.

The first part of this quest, up to Ceredos, is trivial for a bear. After that point, the nightmare begins.

First of all, I used the standard bear spec I usually have in raid. Changing a few talents (eg. taking Nurturing Instinct in place of Brutal Impact) would have been beneficial, but the key to completing the quest is mostly in the execution.
I used every possible consumable though, with Prismatic Elixirs being the most important.
As for my gear, the only relevant note is that the trinket Mirror of Broken Images, the one purchased in Tol Barad, helps a lot especially against the final boss, as it allows for a longer 'burn phase'.

So, after I beat Ceredos I hop onto the small hovering platform and approach the first Twilight Riftweaver.
He's out of range for all of my attacks, including aoe abilities such as Swipe or Thrash. Since balance spells are not an option (tiny damage, high mana cost, high miss chance), the only option left is Faerie Fire (Bear), which with my current gear hits for an average of 4000hp norm / 8000hp crit.
The fight lasts about 10 minutes and it goes like this:
-I soak up all of his Twilight Fireballs, using barkskin to reduce the damage a bit.
-I use 3 orbs to live through his Shadow Novas.
-Eventually he runs out of mana and stops any action. From that point on, I slowly heal myself up and throw Faerie Fires at him until he dies.

After the Twilight Riftweaver dies I hop onto his platform, and 2 Twilight Spellbinders start to attack me.
This fight is slightly shorter and it goes as follows:
-I soak up all the Twilight Fireballs. In order to survive the barrage, I use the last orb, Survival Instinct, Frenzied Regeneration and Barkskin, each ability at the right time of course.
-Again, the goal is to make them run out of mana, so that I can finally heal up and slowly kill them with Faerie Fires.

I repeat the afore mentioned steps multiple times, until I finally get to the other side of the rift. It's now time to face Thyrinar.
Thyrinar, unlike the draconids killed on the rift, is out of melee range but not always and not for every melee attack.
He keeps attacking from one of the 4 possible positions at the perimeter of the platform, and he flies from one spot to another every so often.
Let's see these spots:
-South spot: I can hit Thyrinar with auto attacks if I keep jumping, but other direct attacks do not reach him. Faerie Fire hits him of course, Thrash and Swipe work as well, and the collateral hit from a glyphed Maul reaches him too.
-Lower east spot: only Faerie Fire can reach him.
-Upper east spot: only Faerie Fire can reach him.
-North spot: identical to the south spot, with the only exception that auto attacks cannot reach him.

He usually changes spot after he has performed a full phase of Twilight Blasts and Twisted Twilight, but his timings might be altered because of my 'melee approach'.
Since my self or direct healing is vastly inferior to the damage he deals, I have to resort to a hit and run strategy.
The main goal is to approach him either when he's standing in the south spot or in the north spot, damage him as much as possible while surviving his spells, waiting for him to fly to another spot and attack him in cat form during that transition, since he crosses the platform whenever he moves.
Every time I engage him I must be at full health, with every defensive cooldown available. There's not a fixed order for them, I just use them when I need to.
In order to deal slightly more damage each time, I don't kill Twilight Invaders right away. Instead, I lure them in front of Thyrinar so that by hitting them with maul I also maul the boss for 50% damage. Of course, I interrupt their Fireballs every time.
When the boss starts to chase me with Twisted Twilight, I just kite the beam towards areas I'm not planning to walk to, and take the chance to heal up a bit.
Right after the Twisted Twilight, he resorts to the usual Twilight Blast barrage and I engage him once again until he flies to another position.
It's time to go cat, even pop berserk if it's available, and nibble as many hit points as possible before he gets out of range once again.
Now it's finally time to retreat, as I'm usually badly injured. Stampeding Roar/Dash, I run all the way down the ramp until I get out of his range and he stops casting. Sometimes I even have to push myself into the tunnel to the extreme south (he despawns if I go past the circular room in that tunnel though).
I use this time to heal up (bandages speed up the process a lot) and kill every Invader in the meantime. I also wait for my CDs to refresh.
When I'm ready to engage Thyrinar once more, I wait for him to fly to a favourable spot and perform another assault.

That's pretty much it. The last fight is all about being patient and not losing focus, since it lasts very long and the slightest mistake can get me killed.

I sincerely doubt that other druids will complete this quest in a feral spec, still I enjoyed sharing my experience here. :)

I did this as an affliction warlock in my pvp spec. It took me a lot of tries in order to get this fight right. The trash mobs were really easy. The boss was really hard since I dont micro my pet at all in raid fights.

Blood Elf 374 Aff Lock with 33/5/3

MOTW, Fel Armor, Soul Link, DI

Sentinel + Dogs
Dot up sentinel, haunt drain life.
When the sentinel is dead, dot up one of the dog, soul swap to the other and drain life. I'm almost always at full life by the end of this fight. Felhunter is also attacking whatever target it wants.

Remember to avoid the ice spikes! They hurt a lot.

3 Dogs
I have shadowflame glyphed, so I used it on the dogs as they ran to me. Kite them for awhile as I dot one up. Howl Of Terror, soul swap. Pet attacked whatever and dog dies. I usually end up with 80% health at this point.

Ice Minions
Run in, Rain of Fire. Run to the next group, rain of fire. Rinse and repeat. Usually end up around 45-50%

Sentinel and Solo Dog
Pretty much dot them up, drain life, shadowflame, kite.
AVOID SPIKES and FLAMES! It's pretty easy, I usually end up with full life after these fights.

Platform
Dot, drain life, and fear when they cast Shadow something... Full life after each fight against the big guy.
Dot, soul swap, drain life for the small minions. Use the glowing circle balls if you're low on life, they heal for 25k I think.

Boss Fight
Super hard because I'm not use to spell lock and devour magic. I made a macro for those since I'm super noob, ended up not using them much though. I did put my pet on passive because it would glitched in the middle. He would follow me and when the boss catch, I usually spell lock him in time. Now for my secret weapon! I made this macro, which helped me a lot! It made my pet attack the mob that comes up the ramp. While I soul swap the boss. My pet would attack the mob, and I have my dots on it already. So pet tanks mob while I run around avoiding fire. Fel flame when I have the chance for extra damage, drain life as filler, shadow bolt whenever shadow trance is up.

/target Twilight Invader
/petattack

Since my pet is tanking the mob, I don't get stun by them and can avoid the flame easier. When he casts the flame, I try to run zig zag so I would end up right next to him so my pet can spell lock after he kills the mob. I would click my macro every time I feel like a mob is coming so my pet can get him before he comes up the ramp. Don't forget to devour magic when he heals himself. He only did it once for my last fight, so I was lucky.

I ended up with full life after the fight. I was super amazed since I died to him like a million times before that without much progress, but the macro helped a lot with the minion.

FYI: You can soul stone yourself during the trash and will be able to res out of combat for most of the trash. I wouldn't recommend it for the boss since he will be bolting you as soon as you get up. Unless you're off the platform, but if you're off it for too long, the fight resets.

This is an extremely difficult quest.
It was my job to watch and make sure my sister (a Moonkin) didn't stand in any crap.
You need to be sure to stock up on materials BEFORE going in. Make sure you have everything made and ready in your inventory before beginning the dungeon. If you have to log off for any reason, even if it’s just for five minutes, the dungeon will reset. This isn’t a big deal if you haven’t gotten the portal (which you get by getting to the platform part of the dungeon) but if you’ve gotten the portal it’s a big piss off to have to restart the dungeon all over again.
The adds during the boss fight where the only thing she had trouble with. Her main spec is a resto druid, so this dungeon was quite the pain.
During the platform part of the dungeon, you will be encountering twilight dragons. These twilight dragons will shoot a shadow nova on you. To prevent being killed by the twilight dragons' shadow nova she used the lose magic that is around the platform of the twilight rift weaver. Now this doesn’t always work so be prepared to heal or interrupt.
The encounters aren't consistent! Don’t take anything to heart because this dungeon is so buggy. Like, unbelievably buggy.
All I can really say is be careful, take the advice of these people, and don't give up. Good luck.

Very hard quest for shamies.
When i enter Nexus i dont expect i will spend there 3 hour. I dont take food and drink(very bad idea) i dont even think i will must go outside to repair 3 times.
Platform fights is most annoying part of this quest, cuz we can't put totem when we flying. Good point is to use bubble from big platform when we jump to small. Most annoying was mini boss fight. After many wipes caused by stupid fire elemental AI, i lucky kill him with 1k hp.

So everyone was SO busy discussing the boss that I died over 15 times just trying to get to the encounter. Things are always much easy when you actually know what to expect, so here's the entire basic encounter, for any class - if you want no surprises.

Meet with Tara at the beginning of the instance and run down a hallway where she will cast invisibility on you to get past a sentry.

First room - sentry and two dogs - kill the dogs first if you're a mage, spellsteal the dmg bonus from the dogs and the reflect buff from the sentry avoid erupting ice.

Follow Tara through the hallway to the "ice road" another sentry and two dogs - deal with the pups first then the sentry. at the end of the hallway Tara will freeze you to fool some big sentry guys - after a chat they move on and the ice block fades but you will be chilled for a few seconds and it's difficult to move, she engages another sentry at the end of the hall and then runs off after him leaving you in the hallway with no way to get through the freezing mist and three dogs coming at you from behind.

Kill the three dogs and the mist will part to let you into the next hallway. In each section are frozen ghosts that will unfreeze when you get into range - they are easy to kill - as a mage 1-2 explosions took them all out in each section.

Once you're through this hallway to your right will be the "multiplying boss" room in the normal instance - here you will find Tara and two sentries frozen. The sentries won't attack until you do and Tara cannot attack until both sentries have been hit. I finished this by killing one sentry myself and then the second with Tara's help after she became unfrozen.

You will then go down the hallway and Tara will attempt to shatter the blockage in the hall. A big nasty named mini boss type dog will show up - very similar to the magic hunter dogs with one exception - he casts a spellwave or something that can't be interrupted that lays down purple fire in a straight line - fire hurts avoid at all costs. Once you down him and Tara shatters the ice you are on to the boss fight.

In the Boss room you see floating platforms with adds on them - the idea is to jump around killing adds and clicking orbs for survivability until you get to the "ground" on the far side of the room - up the ramp and you are at the boss fight.

Note: Up until the boss room if you die at any part of the process you have to start all over - once you actually begin the boss encounter you can portal back there if you die. (WHEW!)

As a mage, steal his twilight buff cause it heals, blast away any time you don't have to run and kill the adds as soon as they spawn - avoid the purple breath light - it hurts and tada it's done. For any other class - I don't envy you, as the spellsteal of the healing twlight buff was the only thing that made this encounter not completely a pain in the butt for me.

So hopefully knowing a little more about what to expect GETTING to the boss will avoid extenuating deaths that aren't necessary - anytime trial and error can be avoided I prefer that route - happy questing!

As an arcane mage, I was able to kill the boss with relative ease. Just spellsteal the Twilight Restoration when it happens, kite the fire around the outside of the platform, and nuke when you don't have to move. I also made the add a priority as soon as it came up. I made regular use of Incanter's Flow when I didn't have the buff from the boss.

That being said, the most difficult portion of the quest was, for me, getting to the boss. This is what I found works best for me, as an arcane mage. The first sentry is easy enough, kill the two dogs first, while spellstealing the buff from the big guy. After the dogs are down, slowly dps the big guy so as to not steal threat from Tarecgosa. Once he is dead, go down the hallway, avoiding the fire jets. The next part is basically the same, except the two dogs come at the same time. I just chose to sheep one, while I killed the other. Then kill the sheeped one, then dps the big guy.

After that, Tarecgosa will freeze you in place while she has a chat with the sentries, and when they leave the ice block will break, but you will have a 90% speed reducing debuff. Tarecgosa will initiate a fight with another big add, which will then run away down the tunnel, blocking it with an ice barrier. Three dogs will spawn behind you, and if you aren't prepared for them - they will easily wipe you. I found it easiest to frost nova them in place, and MAKE SURE TO SAVE MIRROR IMAGES for this part. Your images will basically keep agro on the dogs so you don't have to deal with them interrupting you and raping your face. Quickly dps the dogs down, and head to the tunnel which is now unblocked.

In the tunnel you will find more flame jets, and little adds frozen in ice. They break and attack you as you approach, so time your approach so that you're entering the tunnel as the first flame jet is about to stop. I just used Incanter's Flow and ran rough spamming Arcane Explosion. I was able to make it through this hallway without taking any damage at all. Just be patient. Once you make it through the hallway, you will find Tarecgosa in the room to your right with two more big adds, freezing her in place. They will not attack until they are attacked, and she will not be able to move until both of them are attacked. For this part, I backed out of the room, almost down the hallway (max range) and nuked the first add down. Then I went into the room, and did the same with the second add with Tarecgosa's help.

At this point, make sure you drink to full health/mana if you aren't already. Tarecgosa will leave the room, and head down the next hallway which is blocked by another ice barrier. She will tell you to defend her while she breaks it. Another named elite dog will spawn behind her, which is fairly easy to dispose of. All I did was again, frost nova in place, mirror image, and AVOID THE FIRE he casts by all means. It hurts.

After the dog is dead, Tarecgosa will break through the ice, and you will come into a room that is split in half by a huge chasm. There are several platforms with dragons on them - you have to use the small platform to kill the large dragons on the larger platforms surrounding them. Once you jump onto the large platform, you will notice 4 shadow-looking orbs on the platform. If you click all 4, it gives you a buff and a damage shield which is VERY useful for completeing this portion. Just make your way across the chasm by hopping the platforms. I found that by using the buff from the shadow orbs, I was able to make it through this portion without interrupting any spells, or using Incanter's Flow. Once you make it across, Tarecgosa will fly overhead, breathing frost on the ground killing everything in her path. Walk up to the platform she lands on, and the final boss battle begins.

Just stay calm, and remember how to play your class. Good luck!

So I did this as a Demo lock the other day. I read a bunch of reviews saying this fight SUCKED as a warlock and its true. Its pretty hard to do as any class of Lock, Trust me I tried all 3. Anyways I started with a Pre-Pot (Taking Potion before engaging boss) of a volcanic potion self buffed with the Healthstone and Soulstone Glyphs. Popped my Moonwell Chalice, Demon Soul, Metamorphasis and finally the doomguard. Bursted through him as much as possible while making sure to keep my dots active and avoiding fire. Then the first add came up I Feared it quickly. Immediately Hopped back on boss. By the time the add came unfeared He was almost dead but the second add was up as well. Used howl of terror and popped my Healthstone to survive and finished him off. Demo for the win I got raped in my aff spec.

I know it was said many times, the the main reason you're probably struggling w/ this quest is his regeneration buff (10k heals/sec). Once I used this macro, I killed him in 1 shot.

Actually, the final fight is not difficult as a Warlock, although I thought so at first. I tried it a bit, asked people for guides, read some guides here and tried my luck again. After about 4 days during which my best encounter was getting him to 50000 hp, I got really really mad and thought: NOW IM GONNA NUKE YOU DOWN YOU /&%/%/%/! It worked (on the third attempt). Here is what I did:

Instead on using an affliction spec and switching around the whole time, I used my demo spec, which goes like this: 0/31/10. And more specifically:

3/1/1 (Aura of Foreboding)

The one point in Aura of Foreboding is probably the most important point here, as I will show you later.

The buffs I had were just the ones I could cast myself:
Dark Intention on the dog
Fel Armor
Soul Link
Flask of the Draconic Mind
Fortune Cookie

I did use a Volcanic Potion just before the fight started, but that's probably irrelevant. During the fight, I used my Healthstone and a Mythical Healing Potion to heal myself.

The things I cast were as such (and I think the order is important here):

Metamorphosis
Curse of the Elements
Bane of Agony
Corruption
Immolate
Hand of Guldan
Doomguard
Demon Soul
Moonwell Chalice
and Bane of Doom to replace Bane of Agony. (Of course that is probably stupid but I was panicking just a little.^^)

I refreshed the DoTs when necessary and most importantly, I cast Hand of Guldan whenever it was ready.
For my normal attack I used Shadow Bolt, Incinerate (when the Incinerate buff blinked) and Soul Fire (at the end).
The boss was down with only one add added (which I ignored) and didn't even enter the laser beam-phase.

How did this happen? Well, if the boss is stunned by the Aura of Foreboding (a secondary effect for the Hand of Guldan, which you can skill) at just the right moment, he won't cast his healing spell and thus won't enter phase 2.
And even if he does for any reason, just avoid the flame and bomb him away. When you get to Tarecgosa's buff, he melts like butter in the sun.

Oh, and my demon dog was set on attack the boss and disrupted his first cast. After that, I ignored the dog (disrupt was not set so the dog could use it automatically).

Edit: Using Shadow Ward helps getting rid of at least some damage done to you.

Here is another warlock!

Did it today after lots of wipes. I'm a demonology warlock and never player Affliction in Cataclysm, so... it's been a very hard challenge. I've wiped a lot, I reforged and respec'd 31/10/0 before succeding. The most difficult part has been to guide the pet (set in passive) to block and dispell the boss and attack the adds, as I usually set it in "assist stance" and forget about it.

Surprisingly, after all the pieces went in their respective places (Shadow protection, drain life, dots, dispells, counterspells, flames on the ramp, soul swaps), I downed the boss without any difficulty, with only the self-buffs, 80%+ life and mana! Seriously, it's just a matter of concentration and survivability (I think that here PvP players will find it easier than us PvErs).

I just did this as an elemental shaman with pve glyphs and talents in 378 gear. Not recommended at all of course, but is very possible if you're up for a challenge.

The key here was that you need to outlast the boss by using your greater healing wave intelligently while being on point with every wind shear and grounding totem. When terecgosa gives you 100% haste, this is where you're able to top yourself off from any damage earlier in the fight.

I placed my earth elemental totem near the ramp and was able to burn down the add quickly with a flame shock and a lava burst. My fire elemental totem didn't do a whole lot here due to it bugging out and the 4.3 nerfs to your set bonus didn't really allow for a second one.

On two occasions I managed to get to the stage where you get the haste debuff but I was taking more damage than I could possibly heal, I had two adds up in v v quick succession (thats not to happen surely?) so even the buff wasnt any use.

I am with you. Taking so much damage from him, I can not keep up even with Lifebloom x3, Rejuvenation and trying to spam Healing Touch. Much less even try to kill the adds. It did help to have some guildies buff me, but still the damage is to much for me to heal back to full while trying to kill the adds at the same time.

For those having a portal issue after dying to the boss, just sit at the entrance and wait for it a while. It reappeared for me while I was eating some food and buffing.

I did this after 4.3 dropped.

I came here to read if anyone had any bugs with the quest but didn't find any in the comments. So maybe this is a product of 4.3.

The platforms in the nexus gave me the the most trouble. They kept bugging me out and getting me stuck. I'd have to hearth out and reset the instance and thus the trash.

Some advice to avoid this:

Only fight the mob the platform takes you to and not other mobs within reach.
(This spawned the extra adds too early and bugged out the platform pathing).
When the dragon fires your platform jump to the nearest one.
(I tried fighting the dragon and ended up below the floating platforms and the fall didn't kill me; another hearth used).
If you wipe on the dragon, a portal is suppose to spawn at the entrance to take you back.
(Mine frequently did not spawn so I tried to walk back, which results in being stuck on the platforms. ~~You have to reset the trash if your portal didn't spawn~~).
just read the comment that you need to wait in order for the portal to spawn. This was posted after I had done the quest but I wish I would have been more patient.
Sometimes on trash reset the Dragon that burns your platform doesn't spawn, this does not bug out our platform. (Yay finally something that doesn't cause me to reset this again.)

These were my problem within the instance. I also had issues with getting in. I tried everything I could think of to get into the nexus. I relogged, refreshed abandoning the quest and with relogging... I could not get into the nexus until after the weekly reset. Other comments said if you're saved to maly, you'd have problems. I wonder if being saved to the new DS raid was the problem? I got no error messages when attempting to enter so I don't know. I put in a GM ticket but the canned response was we know there is a problem.

In terms of the boss fight no bugs I noticed. The fight seemed easier than what I expected after reading the comments here. I was a resto geared druid with a moonkin pvp spec, no extra buffs and no pots. I don't know if they nerfed it but I almost one shot the boss the first time. I am not pro by any means. The platforms took more time for me than the boss.

For anyone that gets their pet permanently frozen:

You're probably a warlock.

I tried respeccing, I tried dying, I tried resummoning the pet, I tried renaming the pet, I tried dipping my pet in lava.

Finally found the way to fix this without a ticket.

Get in a duel, put soul link on. Have someone kill you about three times and your pet should die, removing the ice block. The pet itself can't be targeted, but Soul Link does transfer damage.

The adds that show up are Twilight Invaders; they are the same as you face before going up the final ramp. Note that although they look like dragonkin, they are actually beasts, and can therefore be hexed.

I found the following three macros useful as an elemental shaman:

/tar twilight invader
/cast flame shock

/tar twilight invader
/cast hex

/cast thunderstorm
/tar twilight invader
/cast earthbind totem

I considered trying Drums of Panic and/or Really Sticky Glue (yes, I still have that) to help manage the adds, but without knowing ahead of time whether those would work or not, I decided to try the encounter without them. Had the drums worked, they could have saved my behind a couple of times when I had the boss under 4%, and I had 2 adds on me.

Good luck; it is one tough fight. I'll be happy to never go back.

I am in the process of doing this quest. I already have some good advice provided to me by another mage who'd already completed the quest.

Think of Tarecgosa as your tank. Kill the dogs, avoid the frost spikes that the giants place on the ground beneath you and once the dogs are dead, help to kill the giants. You'll be fine. It took me several hours and 14 wipes to understand that.

If you're a mage and decently geared save mirror images for the 3 dogs that appear after the initial fight in the second hallway. There are 3 dogs. Sheep, Frost Nova, and burn the dogs down. They aren't hard to kill but a lot of this quest depends on maintaining health and mana before the next MOBs appear.

In the dragon fight on the floating platforms make sure that you kill the Twilight Riftweavers on the larger platforms and every smaller Twilight Spellbinder on the floating discs. If you fail to get one of the Spellbinders you can get to the next platform but once you kill the Riftweaver no new Spellbinders will spawn, your disc will disappear and you will be stuck, unable to continue at all.

I too am having trouble getting past those 3 SpellHunters. By the time I det 1 CC'd the other 2 have my health so low I'm dead before I can drink anything. I tried Frost Nova, by time I have Poly cast I'm dead. Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated.

Anyone who is still on this quest and wants to go into The Nexus to speak to Elder Igasho (For Lunar Festival) you can safely abandon the quest and pick it up from Tarecgosa once again.

This was difficult. I attempted as Resto you can heal through the dmg for a while but I found it impossible to kill the adds, interrupt the boss, and after a while you get overwhelmed (30k+ dmg every 3-5 sec).

BOOMKIN is the way to go. I wiped a couple times as boomkin cause i could not keep up with the healing.

So this is what you need to do as others have said also:
- Use Solar Beam it's your only interrupt Twilight Blast
- Kill adds ASAP (Moonfire Spam and did the work for me)
- Moonfire, , and Starsurge procs all times on Thyrinar.
- Use and Barkskinalways on cooldown
- Have Rejuvenation and 3 stacks of Lifebloom always on you.
- Move when you are tracked by Twisting Twilight in a tight circle! Otherwise the platform will be a fire pit.

This is a pretty intense fight so if you haven't played anything else other than resto don't too frustrated. With a couple attempts you will get him down.

If you timeout while away, the encounter resets completely. So, be prepared to work at the full encounter, don't walk away when things reach a stopping point.

If you join a group, you will be immediately teleported to the graveyard. This can be handy if you get stuck on a platform with no way to move or even kill yourself.

The "fog traps" after the first guardian do not always spawn, but Tarecgosa will pause while walking down the ramp to wait for them anyway.

The Calecgos mob does not always spawn while Tarecgosa is melting down the doorway.

After Tarecgosa iceblocks you, if the two guardians see any totems they will stop and aggro onto one, kill it, then come back for you, then reset. If your iceblock wears off before all your totems are gone, you are toast. Pull your totems.

The ice-blocked ghosties in the mini-gauntlet respawn quickly and they will daze you. AOE them down quickly and keep moving. As a shaman, I pre-cast Earthquake ahead of myself and ran into it. The ghosties take no damage until you get close enough to wake them out of their iceblock.

The shortcut portal at the door does not always spawn instantly. Wait a minute for it. Do not try to navigate through the floating platform section again or you will probably get stuck (see paragraph #2 above).

After you have been killed by Thyrinar and you take the shortcut portal, stepping onto the ramp will cause Tarecgosa to spawn and restart the encounter.

At least for Shamans, you get a ton of adds while fighting Thyrinar, and you will spend a fair amount of time killing them. If you get behind on killing adds, you are toast.

Having focus macros for Wind Shear and Purge on Thyrinar is helpful, just remember to /focus on Thyrinar before the fight starts.

You pretty much have to wait 10 minutes between each boss attempt for your elemental totems, which no longer get any cooldown reduction from tier gear (yeah, I'm sure Blizz considered that when they designed this encounter... not).

Bring lots of fortune cookies and a couple of flasks.

Maybe this will help another lock trying this. I completed this quest yesturday. I used no macros. I used only whatever buffs I had to apply to myself. I blew all my cds at the start and I pre-potted once he was fully up in the air. And after many many attempts as demo, I finally switched to destro (the spec i normally raid with). After about 5 wipes, I got him down as destro.

I said screw it to trying a spec that can interrupt his heals. I just blasted right through it. It was better to use the spec that allowed me to heal myself with every bit of dmg I did. And I also killed the first add way before it got to hit me even once. By the time the second add was out, the boss was close to dead so I just kept it cc'd.

Also, I placed my demon circle sort of middle of platform. I teleported only to get me back up there quick after leading that breath thing he did down the ramp. Pretty much that also served to get me away from the second add long enough to get precious few seconds of dps on the boss. But make sure you keep that second add off of you by way of fears. Hope this helps anyone.

After what felt like a hundred tries, I decided to quit.
The problem? My felhunter always refused to do anything in the last fight.
No silence, no devour, no tanking the adds, nothing. Just stands there.

I'm going to file this under "Too buggy". I play for fun, not for frustration.
I love the difficulty, and were it not for those gamebreaking bugs i'd totally enjoy this quest.

If i went with my disc priest it would be easier than playing WoW.... oh, wait!

Once you get to the last boss.... if you die... sometimes the portal does not show up immediately. You can wait a few minutes or you can take the right fork and go straight to the frozen forest veer left and you will see the entrance to the bosses platform.

@ KMJX Thyrinar can be dropped in 60 secs or less by a demo warlock with a few simple changes specific for this fight.
1 you need to spec into Aura of foreboding (root/stun for Hand Of Gul'dan) I dropped 2 points from Emberstorm
2 the boss is only level 85 so reforge your hit to suit, putting all spare into mastery
3 put your fel puppy on "passive" (this has to be done)
4 toggle off auto on "spell lock" and "Dispell" (cast these manually)

When you go up the platform drop a demonic circle half way across it.
Stand at the edge of the platform at the back, when the boss starts his first cast "spell lock" him.
Teleport and the boss will be pulled down to the platform into melee. Immediately cast Hand of Gul'dan and root him to the floor.
Blow all your cooldowns including meta (demon leap will stun him again) and pull your Doomguard.
use "spell lock" on his casts and use "dispell" when he tries to heal, cast hand of Gul'dan whenever its off cooldown to keep him rooted in place he must not leave the platform.
It might take a few attempts to get the feel of the fight but this will drop him in under a minute with no adds, if you get the first add fear>fear>fear and burn the boss down

UPDATE

1. You can no longer do this quest in a party or raid.
Sorry if you can't buff yourself, you can no longer receive buffs from other players.
(the buffs disappear when you have to drop group to enter.)
You can still use Fort scrolls and Drums of Kings.

2. You cannot hex or sheep adds. They are dragonkin.
(btw you have never been able to sheep or hex dragonkin, so not sure if they were previously classified as humanoids* or what - but neither works in here now.)

Another note: I managed to fall off the platform on one attempt by getting too close to the edge, trying to place my totems on the pull. >.< So be careful where you're running /standing.

I also saw a video of a shaman placing totems on the disc phase of this quest. You can't do that anymore either.

*edit - ok they were previously considered beasts - now they are dragonkin, so you can't sheep or hex.

Im having a hard time just after the area where she melts the ice and you have to jump on the little platform to float over to the bigger ones to kill the dragonkins. No problems up until that point.
After she melts the ice and i try to jump onto the platform i fall right through to my death every single freaking time. >:( I've reset the instance, logged out overnight several times, invited another person to party while in the instance to reset it and still when i get there i fall through. Sent in a ticket and wait time is 7days and 4 hours. sheesh

As an arcane mage, Hibble (Emerald Dream), I slipped up on one part of this quest. I'll share so that people can possibly attempt to skip a small step in this battle, or at least have a much easier time of it.

It concerns the part of the dungeon where you use the floating disks to kill dragonkin. After hopping on the first platform, it is entirely possible to kill the first dragonkin you encounter, and while revolving around his platform, still riding your own, dps down other dragonkin on platforms in range. This will be cyclical, but you're out of range of their Shadow Novas so they don't even affect you. When they're out of your range you're also out of theirs, so you needn't worry about them dps'ing you down while you slowly slide around out of range again.

Note that doing this avoids the need to hop onto the main platform, at first, and you get the leisure of not having to deal with the two small adds that rise up to meet you. If you do this with most all of the larger dragonkin, you will get to avoid/skip almost all of the smaller ones. When I did this I one-shot the section of the dungeon and only ended up killing 4 small adds.

When the actual twilight dragon decided to intervene and fight me, I noticed the little golden-cog icon when hovering over the magic orbs (4 per large platform) and thought "Loose Magic... that ought to be useful." I clicked two of them and was informed that the platform was crumbling and that I should jump to another one. I didn't see any about, and fell down. Here is where this gets interesting:

When I fell I thought I had failed the encounter, being a mage I was able to Slowfall (so that was no problem) but I could have sworn I saw the twilight dragon and Tarecgosa both fall down. Note here that the encounter is not actually forfeit if this appears to happen. While falling I noticed the unused, small platforms far down on the floor that smaller dragonkin never had the opportunity to use for the purpose of rising up to fight me. (They never spawned, you see, due to the earlier, accidental step.)

While Slowfalling, I made myself face one of the platforms and used Blink. This didn't port me down to the floor. Rather, it gave me a tiny boost in a forward direction (I'd been falling straight down before). The trip down was about 30 seconds long, I reapplied Slowfall with 3 seconds left until it was to fall off.

If you do this, try to time it so that you'll be in range of clicking/using a small platform before you hit the ground. I succeeded in the following encounter with ease (as arcane mage the final bossfight is trivial even in basic raid spec/glyph. My ilvl while doing it was past intended gear levels, being about 389 with some LFR and some normal DS gear.) so I cannot tell you whether or not touching the ground instantly kills you or not. I was sure it would, assuming the game would register me as having fallen to my death in this encounter.

Once on the small platform I rode it up slow in some leisurely trip with lots of winding and weaving. Reaching the top, there were two more large dragonkin that had been even higher up left to kill. Dispatching them, I was ejected to the next phase. I began kiting/killing the two adds on the rock floor before Tarecgosa surprised me (I thought she might have been despawned/dead) by flying up at 50% hp and killing everything on the area ahead of me. I followed her up to the final battle and from there, please see kosaki's "Arcane (Mage) Guide" Step 5.

Good luck getting your staff! And remember, the best thing you can do for the phase of the dungeon where you kill dogs and constructs is to remember all of your CC. Liberally use slow, polymorph, frost nova, cone of cold, and your mage ward/mana shields. Also recall that in a tough situation, your Mirror Images are better used as decoys/scapegoats rather than as dps boosts. They only have 75.6k hp, but there are three of them and that's a combined 256,800 damage you don't have to take.

AS A BOOMCHICKEN/ MOONKIN/ BOOMY ETC...
Once i worked it out, it was more than simple. This is how i went about the last bit of the encounter.
Go in as Moonkin, go outside n shoot stuff till your solar comes up and then go back in. When you get near the top of the platform, lay mushies where your going to be standing ( i chose top right of the circle ) as you are walking in... He comes up, pop a volcanic and solar beam it brings him into melee range (pop trees if you want) and stops the shadow bombs hitting you for 10 seconds, lay your dots, pop your mushies and stars and dps his arse :P...PLEASE make those seconds count!
I had him at 50 odd k after that and that's when he does the beam you need to kite, try and stay and weave it on only one side of the circle. Whilst kitting i had 3x life bloom stacks and a rejuve going on myself to top me back up to full. He will then send an add in up the ramp, when he got to the top i gave him a Hybernate :) asleep for 30 seconds gave me plenty of time to finish the big guy off. Good luck to all who do this in the future.

Add +1 to the number of feral druids completing this quest. I've never been a boomkin, and I only got my embers because I'm one of our guild's main tanks, and nobody else wanted them since we're busy getting our second Legendary. My offspec has been resto since vanilla, and the times I tried it as full resto, I couldn't kill the adds fast enough even with Cjeep's macros. Faced with either giving up completely, waiting until level 90, or learning to boomkin, or being stubborn and bashing my head against it in true tank style, I opted for the latter, especially after finding that the new Frenzied Regen change coming in MoP might make this somewhat more improbable to do.*

Current patch, 4.3.4. Bearcat spec, 397 ilvl (4T13, Kiril, Wrath of Unchaining). 161K health in bear. 1.5 hours duration. I did not go Cat at any point in this fight.

Short form:
The biggest problem with this fight is that you can't hang and bang with the miniboss. He will nuke you dead if you just stand there and look cute, so most of the time you will not be on the platform at all, instead you will be retreating to a safe spot while your cooldowns refresh, and then attacking at your advantage.

Extra Prep advice:
1) Mirror of Broken Images. It's an extra cooldown that I used when charging up the ramp.
2) Bandages. They may not seem like they heal much, but over time I wound up healing 687K worth of damage through bandages - and it's the only way to heal yourself without popping out of bear form. It was my third highest heal.
3) Glyph of Maul. You will need this in order to do more damage to Thyrinar - whenever an add is next to you, drag it to the edge of the platform (inside Thyrinar's hit box), turn sidewise, and Maul the add instead of Thyrinar's. The effect of the glyph is to hit the mob nearest to your Maul target for 50% of the damage you did, which automatically hits Thyrinar and ignores the fact that he's in the air.
4) Set up your caster bar with Lifebloom, Regrowth, and Rejuvenation.
5) Focus frames are your friend. Turn on castbars and Target of Target, and you will be able to see if he's still casting his fireball attack at you, or if he's given up and you're safe.

Start by running down the ramp as soon as Tarecgosa gets trapped, while he's still emoting. If you run straight after you get off the bottom of the ramp, you'll see that there's a short little corner ledge against the wall to your right. This is your primary hiding spot. It is MUCH closer than running all the way to the tunnel. Occasionally Thyrinar will come forward far enough to shoot you in that spot, which may end your run prematurely, but most of the time, he won't go there. Your best bet is to run down the ramp, keep going straight until you reach the edge of the chasm, and then hang a right if he's stopped shooting and go to the safe spot, or a left if he's still chasing you and run allll the way to the tunnel by the frost forest if he does follow you.

The other important thing about this spot is that you can clearly see where he is at all times while you're recovering. If he's all the way at the back corner, aka the Untouchable spot, don't bother attacking. You can hang out in your safe spot until he comes forward to one of the spots you -can- hit him at. If your FFF drops off, no worries. It really is a long fight.

Anyway. On the first pass, wait a short distance the end of the ramp, because you can't touch him from his starting spot. The first time only, when Thyrinar moves, he'll come all the way to the middle of the ramp and hover over it. You can then run up the ramp and Mangle him for about 2-3% of his health and he'll back up to one of the positions you can hit him. My order of cooldowns was:

a) As soon as you see a new add walking up the ramp, run up the ramp (using Stampeding Roar), use the Mirror as soon as he starts casting shadow bolts. Leave the add alone and run straight for the boss, and the add should arrive after you momentarily.
b) Barkskin as soon as the Mirror runs out. Engage by jumping up and down at the edge of the platform and hitting Thrash/Swipe, when the mob catches up, turn, change targets, and Maul/Swipe/Thrash until the mob dies. You should be able to get about two mobs and anywhere between 1% and 3% health off of him per run, more if he changes positions while you're there, less if he goes to the Untouchable position.
c) Survival Instincts if you have a good run going. Defined as 'you still have 50% or better health' and a decent rage bar'. If you have 35% health or less and an empty rage bar, it's time to bail out and run _before_ SI runs out, rather than after.
d) Enrage, then Frenzied Regeneration as you flee down the ramp. Also use Nature's Grasp on your way out to stop any mobs from chasing you. Your Barkskin and Mirror should also be coming up shortly (you did use them first, right?)

If at any point he starts casting his deathbeam attack, don't bother hanging around -- just run down the ramp to your safe spot. He tends to burn the only spot in front of him you can melee from, and if you can conserve your cooldowns, it decreases your reset time. Yes, occasionally he deathbeams as soon as you arrive -- nothing wrong with turning right back around and running away without blowing your cooldowns. You control the pace of this fight - not him. Patience is your friend, and watching where he is before you charge up is the key to a successful attack run.

One of the hardest parts about doing this as feral bear is being willing to give up -before- you get into deep trouble, because the temptation to do as much damage as possible is there. Don't be afraid to abort the run even if you didn't do any damage to him. Starting over because you tried to squeeze out an extra 1% stinks.

Once you kill any adds that were following you (remember to interrupt with Skull Bash as soon as they start casting Fire Nova), you have enough time to pop out of bear and heal yourself before the next add shows up. I had enough mana for two Regrowths, a 3 stack of Lifebloom, and two Rejuvs, and then the next add was coming and I had 14% mana left.

Save your bandages for if you're in Deep Trouble (aka 20% or less health when you reach safety) and while between mobs. I went through about 25 Emberweave Bandages on 2 attempts tonight.

Hang out in the safe spot until your cooldowns are back up, then repeat at a).

Do not charge up if he's at the farthest point from you ( his original starting position ). Try and refresh your FFF right before you leave - it lasts 5 minutes, and your cooldowns only take three.

* With the way that Frenzied Regen was changed on the beta, it presently heals substantially less per rage bar, based on your Vengance, and you won't have a lot of it on this fight. Hopefully this doesn't make it to live like that, or it's a bit of a useless talent, IMHO.

TLDR: Mostly-safe spot near the bottom of the ramp, corner near the wall. Bring Mirror of Broken Images, bandages and only go in when you know you can hit him and if you have cooldowns.

If you're doing this in now, the mission is extremely easy. The only problem I had was bugging it out when she said "this is the only way" and froze me. If you don't kill the two dogs before the main add, one of the dogs will unfreeze you, which prevents the RP conversation between Tarecgosa and the dragonkin guys from taking place. You can easily kill them, but nothing happens and you can't pass the giant iceblock to the last area. Just run out and back in to reset the instance.

Also, near the very end, she will fly over and freeze all the trash to death. If you ran ahead to aoe it for fun, she will just hover out of range to talk to her. Run away from here (towards the blocked-off doorway) to trigger the next part of the conversation.

Doing this as a guardian/feral is easy, but there are some annoying parts...

Don't kill the Icebound Sentinels even though you can or else the instance could bug out.
Save your mana (and Heart of the Wild). You don't need to kill all the Twilight casters. Just kill the ones that stand on the platform you're going to jump to with wrath. Use the orbs to restore mana or go AFK for a while. (I had 0 int gear pieces when I did this.)
First time you "fight" Thyrinar is a fake-out. You can't attack him. Just jump to another platform.
Save your Heart of the Wild for wrath-spamming when you fight Thyrinar for real on the main rift platform (marked with a skull on your map).

I just completed the quest. I had no issues, or bugs that I noticed. My only trouble was finding where to go to start. It's in the bottom dungeon of The Nexus fyi.

FYI if you try to progress faster than Tarecgosa, as in running in front or killing some of the sentries before the "progress" has time to catch up, you may bug the instance and be stuck. I killed the to sentries at the part where Tarecgosa freezes you (because they looked at me funny). Now the quest is stuck at Tarecgosa just tapping her feet waiting for the sentries to come.

Fortunately you can leave the instance and then use the option "reset all instances" in order to try this again.

Okay, so I am not sure if it's because I do something wrong of if it's just plain out bugged.

I am a level 85, 424 Ilvl Shadow/Disci priest, attempting to get this part of the quest done. - However it appears as if it bugs, or I am doing something terribly wrong. For whenever I enter, follow her to the left, past the first invisibility, where the two dogs and the sentry spawns. This is where Tarecgosa dies, no matter what I seem to do. I have tried to run in with full fear and dot the dogs which did result in the sentry one-shotting her. I have tried killing them in different order, but no matter what I do, Tarecgosa takes -TWO- hits and dies, just like that. Is this just plain out impossible to do as priest, of am I screwing something up?

Don't go ahead of Tarecgosa. I made that mistake and was permanently frozen in an ice block and had to get a GM to unstuck me.

This whole thing is hugely buggy.

From reading the other posts I was probably lucky that I didn't see more bugs. My problems were:

1) The platform/disc jumping. No matter what I did I died when the dragon attacked me and I was "supposed" to jump to another disc. Nothing would work and I'd just die (I couldn't hit another disc). I finally just ignored this whole part, and jumped to the final ledge. It was really weird because the two dragons were fighting (Tarecgosa and the other one) and then another Tarecgosa appeared to help me (so there were two).

2) Tarecgosa then heads up to the platform, you follow her up and then the same dragon you skipped earlier (by skipping the disc jumping part) appears. I had to let him actually cast some stuff before killing him, if I didn't then the quest would bug.

3) I also had a problem where I couldn't click on the "eye". I finally figured out that the click point was way off and above it.

amazing how buggy this old stuff is and I bet it will never get fixed.

I just managed to complete this on my lvl 110 lock.

It was rather painful and I lost count of the resets, but in the end I had to disrobe and have no weapon equipped and no pet. No DoT's until the disc hopping and that was the only type of spell I used for that part. As per previous comments, don't run ahead of Tarecgosa just dawdle and wait a few seconds before downing the mobs. My rule of thumb was, punch it 6 times and then squirt it with Drain Life.

It was cold, uncomfortable and lengthy but it's doable.

Whatever class you're playing, just do the minimum amount of damage and do it very slowly or you'll be there for a week resetting and doing over.

It appears that a lot of the bugs have been resolved, but it is possible to get jammed up, so do this in a reserved manner. I did this as 110 Arcane Mage. I obeyed the recommendations of others, by staying behind Tarecgosa, and not killing things too quickly. I removed all my gear and weapon. I always waited for Tarecgosa to engage the enemy for a few seconds before I joined in. I don't know if it was necessary, but I aggroed the mobs throughout using my Spellsteal (no damage), let them take a few whacks, and then used one of the spells named above to kill. I used mostly my Arcane Explosion, and when on the disc I used Arcane Barrage.

I didn't play WoW when this first came out, so I wasn't sure how it was supposed to go. The following description is for others like me. Tarecgosa tells you to follow her in the first part. When she tells you to hide yourself from the guard, use whatever invisibility spell or potion that you have, depending on your class. At the next "room", you will engage some mob (can't remember what) and a couple of dogs. After you kill them, both of you will go down a hallway through a series of intermittent freeze barriers. You will no doubt trigger the release of some small mobs frozen in ice, which are easily killed. In the Librarium, right before you get to the Rift, a couple of Icebound Sentinels will hold Tarecgosa in their spells for a bit. When you go into the room, kill the one farthest away from you first. When I killed the nearest one first, the one farther away evaded my attacks, and I was forced to start over. When you get to the Rift, you will mount the nearest flying disc, which you cannot guide. It will take you to the large disc on your right. You slowly kill the Twilight dragon and jump on that disc. (I believe the green mounting arrow only shows up after you kill the occupant of the disc.) You then aggro and kill the mob on a smaller disc that hovers a bit below you. This disc will rise to get closer to you. From there, you rinse and repeat, jumping from disc to disc, getting closer to Tarecgosa and the other side. When you are at the large disc closest to the other side, Thyrlnar will begin to breathe flames onto your disc. You will be forced to abandon it, and will conveniently find a small empty disc hovering next to yours. Mount it, and it will carry you the rest of the way. (Note: I did not kill all the twilight dragons, just the ones I needed to in order to progress toward the other side.) Once you're on the other side, Tarecgosa comes and freezes/kills the mobs there, and you can then run across a narrow bridge to the last platform. There, you will engage Thyrlnar, kill him, and the take the prize that appears (glowing ember ball). Tarecgosa will give you the next quest in the chain.

If you find yourself bugged, abandon the quest and do the following:

Find Tarecgosa in Coldara at 34.4 25.2 to pick the quest up again
Right click on your portrait > Reset all instances
- In the chatbox, you will get the notification "Nexus Legendary has been reset"

Step 2 is important as the bugged part may stay bugged.

As of right now, this quest is pretty much impossible to do in a low lvl character. I tried doing it with my lvl 89 druid (with pretty much BiS gear) and Thyrinar (the dragon you face at the end) is doing about 50% of my HP in dmg with every Twilight Blast (and this guy spams this ability). It used to do about 5% of the HP during cataclysm.

We can only hope for blizzard to fix it.

This legacy instance quest still has issues with high level characters attempting it. Strip out of your armor, prolong fights and auto-attack when possible. When you come to the stun section, kill the one at Tarecgosa's head first, that worked for me.

There's a section where you get ice-blocked, that I spent close to an hour resetting the instance to try and work around a bug.

I couldn't make it through the archway up before it's closed off.

I tried tagging the icebound sentinel that comes down after iceblock with moonfire and taunt. After Tarecgosa decides to run up and block the entry, I'm still snared with the end of the iceblock spell, and at that point I can't charge to anything to make up ground.

I feel it was luck more than skill that I ran forward far enough and didn't get iceblocked (or iceblock a guard drake with me, that attempt was awkward).

I just completed this quest on my warlock at lvl 120.

Stripped down to zero gear and no pet. I used Drain Life to kill the final boss as it was slow spell damage. The only time I struck trouble was getting past the first trash because I was going too slow with dps and Tarecgosa kept dying. She'd be at close to full health but would then suddenly die.

There were a couple of times things appeared not to be happening but I just waited and it always progressed. Tarecgosa repeated lines of script a few times when I was already past that section which was a bit unnerving but it didn't glitch. Also, when she was melting the ice barrier and asked for protection I couldn't recall exactly what was supposed to happen there but no mobs showed up for me to kill.

I don't think it's working perfectly, but I saw other comments saying if you're level 120 it's impossible to complete. Apparently not.

Okay what worked for me as 120 shadow priest was to just run ahead and kill everything. I never got ice blocked. The room with the platforms is a little weird...just do your best to jump from one to another while dotting the dragons. Eventually you'll make it to the other side. Only had to reset once after the first time bugged from the ice block delay.

As previous posters have mentioned this quest is filled with bugs;
I came across two different one while trying to do it:
First one occured in the area where Teracgosa freezes you to fool the sentries.
She repeated the phrase "I'll handle this one. See if you can find any others." and then there was a delay so when eventually I was "unfrozen" I couldn't catch up with her and ended up on the wrong side of the ice barrier.
The other one was in the next phase, where she is stunned by two mobs.
I killed the first one but the other one evaded all damage and thus I couldn't not free Teracgosa from the spell.

Really excited to see what bugs are in store for me for my next try. Not.

This quest/scenario did not bug for me at all as of 8.2.5 - I took my time, letting mobs come close as they would as if it was current. I stayed behind Tarecgosa at most times, she froze me once but I got free a minute or so after. I did not take off gear etc, all I did was let the named mobs attack once and then insta-kill them.

After over a year of abandoning this quest and giving up trying to complete it on my 120 Disc Priest, after having tried for months with no successful runs due to bugs that I couldn't seem to get around, I tried it again today. I wore only my weapon, and no armour or jewelry. First time, I finally managed to get past the ice block and inevitable wall- after being unfrozen and slowed I ran to the wall, killed the mobs behind me, and the wall disappeared. However, getting to the next area where Tarecgosa gets locked by the two big NPCs, I killed the one by her tail before her head, and was then stuck in the Evade glitch when trying to kill the one at her head, just as somebody else had mentioned- too bad I read that comment too late for it to help me that time. Reset and tried again, this time running past her and killing the mobs right into the hallway past where the wall would normally spawn. Didn't get frozen and no wall spawned, so after her dialogue with the guard as if she had froze me, we continued. Where the two mobs would keep her stunned, only one spawned- the one at her tail- and I killed it, to which we continued to the wall. One mob spawned, a named mob. Got close, let it try to hit me, killed it. Waited for her to break the barrier and went forward without a hitch- although seeing as how I'd never managed to get that far, I'm unsure of any glitches I could have encountered there. When the last boss got there, I gave him a few seconds to attempt to hit me, and then hit him once, to which Tarecgosa woke up and the cutscene started, and afterwards I was able to turn in the quest. FINALLY. After so long and so many attempts at getting this quest to function properly!

There is hope, it just may take you a lot of trial and error. Hopefully this will help some people complete it nowadays! If you're going to try and do this quest on an overleveled character, I suggest reading a lot of these comments so you can figure out what bugs you may encounter and how to work around them. I simply just did it as normal, killed the guard after she unfreezes you that's directly in front, followed her up the ramp where she was frozen by one guard, killed him and everything else went smoothly and finished it in one go.
