I don't know about anyone else, but this quest was a bit buggy for me. My spider wouldn't eat certain murlocs, even if I stood right next to it. And yes, I killed them myself, your spider won't eat other peoples murlocs.

I'm also having issues getting my spider to eat. I dismissed my own pet and make sure to get the killing blow, but the thing doesn't want to cut me a break.

I was having trouble then I let the spider get the killing blows and he started eating each one; I'm not sure if it's related to the but or not, but it was my experience.

As today v4.0.3 13329 the quest works properly. The spider dont need to get the killing blow. It just eats the corpse

I can't find any "hungry mine spiders." The domesticated spiders in the mine don't seem to fit the bill, and I've been in and out of that mine countless times. Anyone available to help? Thanks.

I like this quest. You just take the spider with you and it'll web others if you have more than one attacking and as you kill it'll just eat the bodies . I wish you could get one of them as a permanent pet it'd be awesome.

I loved this quest, however I did it at level 85, and I noticed that if I killed them too fast, the spider would not eat them all, it appears that if he/she/it (the spider) is busy eating something else, it will not eat what you kill, so kill them slowly, or just kill a lot of them lol.

If any hunters are having issues with this quest like I did, dismiss your pet first. For some reason, the spider will only sometimes eat the corpses if your pet is out.

When you accept the quest, you will have the buff Hungry Mine Creeper for 30 minutes.
If you lose your spider, speak to Spider-Handler Sarus to get the spider back.

I like to take Spider with me questing. If you don't turn the quest in, you can go back and grab another Spider. Turn this quest in once you finished in Hillsbrad.

OK, Did this today. Had two murlocs that didn't get credit for but I think its because they were already flagged but others.

Best thing to do, tag all murlocs in the area that you have. Your spider will cast a web on them to freeze them and as long as they are not attacked they will stay there. Then you can kill them one by one.

Spider doesn't need killing blow. I had many dead and the spider just went over to the dead corpse and attack/ate and counted them.

STILL a bit buggy the better part of a decade later... While your spider doesn't need to get the killing blow, it does appear to have to attack the murloc. One of the spider's attacks looks like a shadowbolt-type thing, and sometimes I would kill the murlocs before it got a cast off if I wasn't careful. This could account for the kills it didn't eat before I started paying closer attention.

Just keep an eye on the spider and make sure it gets a couple of attacks in and you should be good to go.

Description

My spiders are hungry and agitated! They haven't eaten for days and are starting to sample our human captives. We can't have that. We need those humans for use in the Sludge Fields.

I want you to take one of my hungry mine spiders out and feed it murlocs from the Western Strand, south of here. Whatever you kill, it'll eat! The more the better!
