You will find Gorishi Fledgling Colossus in a cave under the earth.
Entrance is right above the text "The Slithering Scar".

I soloed this quest at lvl 50 as a Retpala. Quite easy.
Just beware that Poision Explosion might hurt you badly.
Just cover behind a wall. A stone. Or simply get away from the mob.

Entrance path is at coords 50,80. Take the right path, then left and left. It's a level 53 Elite, with 9.8k HP. Like said above, avoid Poison Explosion, and it's nnot hard.

Did it as a level 54 Rogue. **Don't use Vanish! It will bug and reset! :S

Soloed as a lvl 50 boomkin. just keep moonfire/insect swarm up and heal whenever you get to around half health. innervate whenever you can too keep your mana up. potions don't hurt either. Don't try to dispel the poison as it stacks faster than you can dispel, you'll just be wasting mana.

The size of this bug nearly gave me a heart attack when i entered the room. Indeed very easy to solo, did is as kitty, avoiding the poison explosion, i only put on regrowth and rejuv on me when i was hiding behind a wall and he was underground.

Dam hes hugh but was really easy to solo as a 54 rogue just hide behind a pillar when hes about to use Poison Explosion.

easy solo as 51 arms warr, survived the fight but the poison killed me afterward, would have been fine if i had a health potion

Easily soloed as level 50 arcane mage. The poison explosion is vulnerable to Counterspell, so I just used Slow and ran through my normal rotation. I used Mana Shield to keep my health up -- you might need a pot or a mana gem towards the end of the fight.

Soloed as a level 51 paladin. Ran back when he started his poison explosion. While waiting for that to finish I healed up and went back at him again. He doesn't seem to heal any during the encounter. He is big and you can't miss him in the room.

For those wondering, the colossus is tameable for BM hunters. I have not tamed him myself, but I've seen him in Stormwind.

Soloed him on a 50 hunter with my pet. Hid behind the pillar during the explosion and pet took minimal damage.

Entrance is not through mountain, but in jungle at Slithering Scar - (50.5, 78.5)

Easily solo'd as a level 51 Heirloom-geared S-Priest - started the fight with a bubble on - didn't bother refreshing it, cause Vampiric Embrace was enough to keep me up

The good news is that I killed this one solo on my first try with a level 50 priest.

The bad news? When I killed him, I was poisoned, had less than 200 hit points, maybe 100 mana and was waiting for the potion cooldowns to finish -- so the poison killed me within a few seconds.

And to finish with good news, I still got credit for the kill. :-)

As others said, when it's about to use poison explosion, hide behind the pillar as far hidden from it as you can. The first time I did this one with a tank warrior, I think it hit for close to 1000 damage.

Can a Sub Rouge lvl 52 not do this quest alone? I have tried but his poison is way too strong. I get him down to about 5000 before he does his poison explosion but I'm always poisoned and die after the 2nd or 3rd explosion.

Solo'd as a 52 Retadin in 'looms, here. Usual rotation, used WoG and cleansed a coupla poisons when ducking behind the pillar. Had to spam-cleanse myself after he died; the poison was stacked up to 10 and nomming merrily on my health. I lived though - without popping CDs. Had bad luck with Art of War procs, too /QQ

No problems on a L50 Shadow Priest in quest greens. The warning text informs you when a poison explosion occurs, and there's plenty of pillars to hide behind.

The only difficult part of the experience was finding my way out the room once the fight was over. By the time I'd recovered my sense of direction, the mob had respawned, and was standing in front of the way out. I just used my heartstone in the end, rather than fight it again.

If you have an interrupt ability (Counterspell, Skull Bash, Rebuke, Windshear, etc.) you can use it on his poison explosion and never have to hide behind anything. That's how I did it with a 52 combat rogue, using Kick whenever he started casting.

No-one seems to have noted the pre-req in order to get this quest: There's a 2-part quest chain offered by her brother standing right next to her involving killing fire elementals at Fire Plume Ridge that, once completed, unlocked this quest for me. (The only other quest in Un'goro I've completed was this grab/deliver quest which I confused to be the pre-req since it is delivered to her.)

EDIT: I realize how vague I am with my pronouns x.x Anytime I said "her" I meant the quest giver.

Easy to solo as a level 54 enhancement shaman. I nearly died when I saw how huge and icky he is... big bug shaped things are a nightmare to me in WoW

Easy solo as a level 50 feral druid. Rather boring actually. Just spammed mangle and ferocious bite (tiger's fury and fairy of course) with the occasional heal and hide behind bear armour. Yawn.

You can see the entrance to the underground hive around while facing south. Your target, a giant insect, is located in the big central section, you'll know it when you see it. From the entrance, take a right then a left at each major split in your path.

I was on my enhancement shaman and had no issues, the healing totem kept up with the pitiful damage the Elite put out. Then again I was able to kill it before it let out the explosion I saw the U.I. said was about to happen.

yes I just soloed it as a lvl 52 arms warrior. He does little poison shots that you shouldn't worry about. Only worry about when the screen message flashes then use your stun and you won't have to take cover. He does have about 9k hp but he isn't that hard.

Took this big-un down as a 51 Hunter with my pet. Hid behind a pillar during the explosion, once, and then ran around a corner, near another tunnel for the second. I think the trick is to get ABOVE the poison, because I noticed that it was in a layer below my feet when I ran up the small slope to the pillar I was behind. But I challenge someone to test my hypothesis, because I could be wrong. Pet took a little damage, but she's been a real pal and takes a lot of hits with minimal damage most of the time. haha! Love being a hunter.

You'll find the entrance on your map, near the Icon above "The Slithering Scar." Enter in through a rib-cage looking thing. Take the RIGHT tunnel, away from the majority of the insects, if you want to avoid them, and continue down the main path. I'm assuming the left tunnel leads to where the Fight Boss, and Clutchmother spawn are. Glad I avoided them. Haha.

I started out with an Aimed Shot, immediately followed by Concussion Shot(but I'm not sure if it was immune. I ran into a wall and was busy trying to get out - I didn't get to see if the screen flashed "Immune"). As a hunter, I tried my best to keep far enough back to deal damage with my Arcane Shot, but after he burrows underground, he pretty much comes back out on top of you. After a few moments, I summoned Cliffwatcher Longhorn's spirit to help with my Horn of the Traitor, just in case. Had to do my best to keep away from other tunnels, so as not to attract anymore bugs. Finished with a "Kill Shot" when prompted, but it took one more Arcane shot to actually kill him. Nothing to loot. Got to about half-life when the battle was over, and then Orbed out of there back to "home." I probably could have survived without the Longhorn Spirit, but I'm glad I have it.

Surprisingly easy for a solo hunter and tank pet - just keep the heals going on your pet and you can solo this at level 51 ;)

Easy-peasy-mac 'n cheesy! Level 51 Arms warrior (with crappy quest gear), just keep hacking at the beast, don't worry about the poison (unless you're really low or didn't take Second Wind), maybe took about a bit more than twice as long as a normal mob. Really nothing to fear, just do it!

It might have helped that I was accidentally in Berserker stance, I don't know.

Extremely easy for hunter level 50. Finished him off with full health, while my pet had 50 % health left. Piece of cake.

This quest has been seriously nerfed. My 51 Demonlock stomped the big guy so badly, he never even got a chance to explode. I know Locks are OP and, anticipating a tough fight, I buffed up as much as possible but it was....disappointing, especially after having been ground into little pieces multiple times by those Horde Uberguards in the Elders quests.

Worth doing for the rewards and XP, which are really good.

In order to get this quest for the uniquely colored gloves, you have to first do Williden Marshal's two quests about the fire elementals. When you turn the last in, Hol'aynee will give you this quest. I don't know if you have to turn in the abandoned research camp quest but I did anyway.

Utterly destroyed this poor guy as a level 51 affliction warlock without taking damage. Voidwalker never hit half health. Going by this and the other comments, I think most classes should be able to solo this thing.

No one seems to have mentioned that you cannot turn this quest in. The question marker is there on the minimap, but the NPC isn't there in-game.

On a level 53 subtlety rogue this was over pretty quick. Through Symbols of Death and appropriate talents I got hit once between stuns and I kicked something he was casting but I don't know what it was. I was expecting a fight. Seriously. :)

Coordinates 51, 78
Entrance is carved into the flat ground, it isn't a standard cave entrance.
Giant spiky/claw/arms come up from the ground surrounding entrance, with a big hive hanging near the front.
The entrance is quite large, not on a wall or hill.

Description

If you're here to help, then maybe you can help us with a lurking threat.

To the south lies the Slithering Scar, a quivering silithid outpost in the middle of the jungle. You can't miss it.

One of my scouts reports that the silithid are harboring a young colossus in their large central underground chamber, and once it is fully grown, they plan to unleash it upon Un'Goro!

This must not be allowed to pass, <name>. Find the colossus and kill it.
