Some people probably already know but, he drops a ram, a trinket that summons you into brd->bar. Works anywhere and the 41 badge trinkets just renamed. And the brewmaid trinkets. Anything else thats special.. I dunno. He drops a quest that gives like 12g and I believe it was 40 tokens. one time only thing.

He's pretty easy has an aoe disarm/knockdown attack, it's sort of painful. People get tossed into the air and summon more non-elite adds. Easy to burn down. Also throws a barrel onto someone, losing aggro, and they run around. Near his death he will summon more elites that throw beer at people. Just toss the beer back at them. It's a pretty simple fight.

A tip, use a paladin if possible. Consecration is good for the adds when you start so they don't own the healer. Also make sure you have someone who takes down the adds when they spawn up. My group used a mage. Also a hunter using frost trap is nice so whatever is killing the adds (if it's a caster) has more time to kill them. And, have your dps/healer go max range in case your tank gets barreled.

Indeed it is true, he does in fact drop the Ram and Kodo for both sides. I got one for my paladin earlier yesterday morning. They are just very rare drop rates. He also had a trinket that takes you straight to the guzzler.. but yet again.. Rare drop rate. Cool little knickknack though, fun to use in av and watch people click it and wonder what the hell it is and see 20-30 people leave the bg :P (No, I haven't tried it, my boyfriend did >_>)

he is Soo ezy.

he has 3 add that are there with him normal lvl 70's.

now and again random pole come up from the ground and send you up into the air if you were under them. they also let out another add.

we did it with:
warr,magex2 (me), druid (her alt lock),spriest (his alt shammy).
we got to do it 14 time cause we did it before the dailys reset xD and with 2 alts aswell.
the kodo droped aswell as lot a nice trinkets.

i won the kodo hehe first on my server.

This quest is a daily quest. Even if you dont kill him, this uses a "daily quest" and you cant restart the event until the next day. Someone else has to start it. Also, multiple ppl can talk to him at once and turn it in. We wasted 2 of our turns on a silly wipe (someone went afk and didnt tell anyone) and we both turned in the quest at the same time.

He can be killed once for every person in your party. Simply wait a minute or so after you kill him and he'll respawn. Everyone who has this quest can pick a fight with him. Farm farm farm!

Quest can be picked up at level 68. Will be testing shortly to see if it can be picked up by a level 60.

Edit: Cannot be picked up at level 60.

Double Edit: The item the boss drops has a minimum level of 65. This is likely the minimum level for the daily.

This boss is real easy.
We did this with a pally tank, pally healer (me), retri pally and two rogues.
Just make sure your melee dps does a stap back when he enrages and does his disarm/knockback cause it does quite some damage.
And let your dps kill the adds.

Easy is a relative term.

I found this boss very hard. We wiped on the first four tries. The adds spawn at random points and will go for whoever's nearby. But they spawn slowly, and if you're watching you stand where're the mole machine is and drop a consecrate to welcome them. You need people with fast reactions, this is a raid boss not an instance boss, and if someone's slacking somewhere there will be problems. He does a melee range AoE - and often stuns (or tries to stun) the melee right before starting it. I didn't manage to pick up his tell before he stuns, but I'm sure there was a giveaway. Something told me step back just in time on our last try - whatever it was, watch for it. :)

Urlsa is the add that tosses drinks into your bags. If you get one, drink it fast, or somebody's going to get a barrel head. I moved everything in my bags around so that the empty spots were all clustered together and I could see anything pop there. On the last pull however, she never put anything in my bags. So I'm not exactly sure if you get a drink before or after a barrel - somehow we managed to avoid it that last time through.

All of the adds despawn the moment he goes down, so if you can take him down fast, and just hold the adds on the tank, go for it.

If you're at the pre or early Kara stages of gear, bring a good supply of potions.

We had myself on paladin tank, a warrior, rogue, boomkin druid, and healadin.

Got an attack bonus trinket to drop on the last. Plus an item that you turn in for 41 Brewfest Tokens and the usual sort of gold from dailies.

pretty much just keep the adds off of your healer and your golden, mainly focus on coren, have one of your dpsers kill the non elite adds, leave the elite adds alone they're not really a problem and burn him down, pretty easy straightforward fight, good luck on the mount! :D

it has chance on dropping ram got one to drop 3rd try, Drops kodo as well saw people riding the brewfest kodo around.

it is a daily did it before 4 am, 5 times, then did it again after dailies reset, you get the quest again from the spy near coren.

Group makeup was, Prot warrior, ms warrior, enh sham, Hunter, Resto Druid.

Pretty easy boss.

He will attempt to disarm, and whirlwind afterward. This is the biggest damage we saw as a group. WW was hitting melee between 3-7k damage. He also summons mobs and spawns dire mole machines that will do light damage. The two elite adds will throw beer at people and stun them for a few seconds.Just kill them if they are giving you problems

For our pull we had one ranged DPS kill adds while everyone else killed the boss. At 20% we just ignored adds and kill him.

This quest will instantly become available again at 4am ST. Standing there in front of the quest giver, without resetting the instance the quest comes back right then and there.

This boss is real crap, we managed him with 4th chars with karazhan gear. The only things you have to keep in mind are:

1) take the adds off the healer
2) get off coren when you see his casting bar with disarm (3/4 sec cast, plenty of time)

That's it, he has quite few hp and he's pretty much burnable in 1 minute.
I really don't know how someone managed to whipe.

Okay, here's how it goes:

Starts by accepting the Save Brewfest! quest from Darna Honeybock in Kharanos (sorry, I know about the Alliance side only), which will ask you to talk to an undercover spy inside BRD.
Once inside BRD you click on a pile of booklike objects right by entrance to be teleported to Coren's room where you'll find the spy in question, Coren Direbrew and a few other dwarves (neutral). You finish the quest by addressing the spy, only one person does that per group.
This will trigger another quest that will require you to address Coren, then of course he attacks you.
(of course you can just skip all that and go directly to BRD to take the daily if you're not into following lore).

He's level 75-80 boss, pretty easy tank and spank fight, a few elite adds will pop but that's about it.

His loot table:
1st time you fight him, he will drop Direbrew's Dire Brew which you can turn into Ipfelkofer Ironkeg for 40 Brewfest Prize Tokens, then..

A) Guaranteed to drop one of these epic trinkets:
-Ancient Pickled Egg.
-Brawler's Souvenir.
-Mithril Pocketwatch.
-Coren's Chromium Coaster.
-Bitter Balebrew Charm.
-Bubbling Brightbrew Charm.

B) Lucky Groups have a slight chance to finding:
-Direbrew's Shanker 2.0.
-Direbrew's Remote.
-Tankard O' Terror.

C) Very Lucky groups have a slighter chance to finding:
-Swift Brewfest Ram.
-Great Brewfest Kodo.

Once you trigger the quest to kill Coren, that counts as a daily. But you can still go as many times as you want after that with other people as long as there's someone in group that hasn't done the daily yet. So it's a good thing to check the quest log to see if everybody in your group has taken (is able to take) the daily quest prior to starting in order to fight him 5 times, 5 chances to getting the mount/epic weapon/remote. (Horde instructions for getting pre-quests; according to Miyari's Post it's NOT necessary to complete these to get the daily, Insult Coren Direbrew)

Have each party member complete "Welcome to Brewfest!" from Tapper Swindlekeg outside Orgrimmar.
Grab "Save Brewfest" from Slurpo Fizzykeg, on the road south towards Razor Hill. The quest is shareable if other members have completed "Welcome to Brewfest!" Turn it in to the Brewfest Spy in the Grim Guzzler, BRD.
Pick up the daily, Insult Coren Direbrew, from the Brewfest Spy. Turning this quest in to Coren aggros him and completes the daily. You only get one chance to kill him per turn-in; make sure 2 party members don't turn in at the same time, as it will waste one of your tries at killing him.

Though this boss is a pushover for well-geared people, those needing his trinkets might have a bit harder time.

Here's a brief description of the fight:
1. He'll start with 3 non-elite adds. Tank should stay on Coren and have a designated DPS take out the adds. Non-elite adds will continue to spawn throughout the fight via tunnel-borer machines that pop up out of the ground. These are easy to kill quickly.
2. At about 66% and 33% health he'll summon an elite barmaid (Ilsa and Ursula Direbrew). DPS should ignore them (alternate strategy is to burn them down immediately, but not necessary unless your DPS/healers are very squishy). The tank should apply some aggro to keep them off the healer. They despawn (as well as all other adds) when Coren dies.
3. Coren does a whirlwind attack that hits players in melee range. Coren will also disarm the tank and everyone in melee range; there's a long cast bar preceding this. Watch for the drop in threat generation.
4. The elite barmaids throw out beers that land in your inventory, apparently at random targets. If you don't drink the beer ASAP, and they throw a second one at you, you'll get stunned for about 5 seconds.
5. Barmaids will randomly "Keg" party members. It seems this usually happens to the tank first; the keg lands on your head and CC's you for about 6 seconds. This is the hardest part of the fight if not controlled properly, as Coren will go after whoever is 2nd on the threat list. You can sometimes get chain-Kegged at maddeningly short intervals.

Pretty much a tank and spank, my group found it works best if you have one DPS solely focused on taking down his non-elite adds, since at first they went straight for our healer. The tank and the other 2 dps should just nuke Coren, as all the others will despawn or become friendly again once Coren is dead.

Make sure to watch out for the drinks the ghost lady throws at you, if you don't drink them before she throws another at you, you will become stunned. I equipped mine to my bar so I could see right away when I had one in my bag.

All in all, pretty easy if you have a plan. Our group consisted of a Fire Mage, 2 Boomkins (myself and one other, his job was dropping the adds), a Prot warrior tank and a Holy Pally healer.

This is incredibly simple, we farmed him with our kara geared characters/alts for the mount. To clarify

Don't bother with the elite adds, even with a warrior for a tank they didn't aggro us.

Assign someone to non-elite add duty, when they pop up murder them. Mages + warlocks 2 shot them

When the boss starts to cast disarm, back up. It is immediatly followed by whirlwind, our first time around it murdered down our mage because he didn't realize that would happen.

When you get a thing of beer thrown into your inventory, I recommend you drink it immediately, otherwise you will get barreled which leads to stunnage.

But yah, it's simple, even though we lost our mage in the first fight it only took us a couple of minutes to down him. Really easy fight.

I did this fight three times. Straightforward fight, just tank and spank. Ranged DPS have to watch out for the mole machine that disrupts casts and sends you flying, causing damage.

Designate a DPS (hunter or rogue) to take care of adds. Pally tanks work best, with Consecration on the elite adds.

My group make up was:
Level 70 Protection Paladin
Level 70 Destruction Warlock
Level 65 Beast Mastery + Marksmanship Hunter
Level 70 Restoration Shaman
Level 70 Combat Rogue

The first fight was the easiest. Nothing exceptional happened. The lowest anyone got to was like 1/4 health and that was the healer shaman. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38290 dropped.

Second fight the tank almost died, as did the healer. I was holding my breath. The Warlock had some trouble with the mole machine. http://www.wowhead.com/?item=38289 dropped, and no one needed it. The shaman took it.

Third time around, the Warlock got hammered by the mole machine, the maiden showed up and was throwing the barrels at people, and the healer died when Coren had 3% health. Finished off the kill. The <http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37128#comments> dropped.

Surprisingly, the level 65 did decent damage.

Also, when the Brewmaiden shows up, she will throw mugs of ale at you. DRINK THESE IMMEDIATELY. If you don't she will stun you for four seconds. She will also "barrel" you. This plants a barrel on your head, and works similarly to a polymorph.

Overall, easy fight. Things to watch out for:

Mole Machines
The Brewmaiden
Coren's disarm/whirlwind combo
Too many adds.
The adds will then gank the healer. That = not fun.

ok i just wanted to point out that this quest is dead easy, tanked it tonight on my pally (lv 67 at the time) roughly 10 times only failing twice when A) i got CC healer got stunned and dps therefore got mowed down (very unlucky sittuation) and B) when i had a bad chain of resisted spells and a resisted taunt and dps died again. do note however that i was lv 67 tanking a lv 73 mob, basic stratergy is 1 dps (hunter works best) mows down the adds which have roughly 6k health, also throwing off the odd shot at direbrew, rest of dps just burn boss and back off during the "disarm" as its like a whirlwind (from what i saw), aside from that pray like hell you dont get bad luck with the keg and stun. so far out of 24 kills seen 1 kodo, 1 ram (both mounts won by same person on different characters >.<), 3 healing trinkets, 2 damage 45stam trinkets, 1 remote, 5ish dps trinkets (lost count really), 4 block value trinkets and a few spell caster trinkets. In summary a very easy boss with nice rewards and with 2 weeks of brewfest your certain to get something you want :)

(note if the mounts or remote drop they will drop with a trinket also)

How To Farm the Brewfest mounts

Requires:
- A party of no more then 4: Warlock, Tank, healer, & Add control
- Warlock should come with at least 10 soulshards in his inventory for summons

Objective:
Your group will basically be set out to gear lowbies for welfare epics, while farming for the mounts.

How to Execute:
- Assign the most trusted in the group with Master Looter
- Type /who 65-69 to see who is available out there
- Ask them if they would like a shot at free loot with a summoning ready
- Once summoned spam a macro that states the terms and conditions, that anything is theirs but the mount because your group is farming for it
- Mark quest giver with Star and Boss with Skull and make a macro to tell them how to start the fight
- The Warlock should take a Soul shard from Coren from every fight so that he never runs out
- Kill the boss, remove the lowbie from group after he gets his loot, tell him thank you for coming, wash and repeat.

Personal Thoughts:
Once everyone knows the fight it goes fast enough, and lowbies are usually thrilled for the invite even when they don't receive the mount. In the past 3 days of the festival I have killed Coren over 80 times, seen Kodo drop on 4 occasions, and the Ram once and now have both of them.

The elite adds do not arrive in tunnelers like the rest do. Instead, they arrive with the pirate sounding "yaargh!"... which is a little strange considering they are female. Dwarves, go figure.

The summon directly on top of the boss, and after a bit of mele, move to range to start throwing mugs.

It's important for the tank to listen for the Yaargh! so that he/she can get a little agro on them (or more if you are planning to burn them.) You might miss them otherwise since they are standing right on Coren.

Bears:

I'm a not even Heroic-ready bear with a few greens on me still, and I found this fight rather easy to tank. Perhaps it was just a good healer... Since Coren does not have a lot of specials other than the whirlwind/disarm he does a lot of pure mele. So tons of rage to go nuts with, meaning keeping agro is trivial.

The downside is the barrel. Unless you setup a macro you can't just drink the beers since drinking pops you out of bear. This often leads to the barrel-head CC problem. I've not tested the full inventory trick, that worked for anyone to stop the barrel problem?

When you pop up from the mole machine facing Coren the is a room to the left, where you accept the daily if you go to the far side near the stairs you can go up them,run left a goblin called puzzler spazring or something like that, he sells http://www.wowhead.com/?item=11325 which leads to spawn of jub jub quest, at darkmoon faire, a little frog when you /kiss him you get a buff turning you into a frog for a about 15 secs

If you want a group consisting of 5 people being able to insult him and want to make sure that everyone really has the quest, get the addon Uber Quest since it lists how many of your group members have a specific quest.
So if it says (4) before the questname, the whole group has the quest.

Use this if you worry about leechers.

Or just plain nerdrage.

Save Brewfest! is not required for this quest. You can just take and do this quest without doing or having "Save Brewfest".

Coren Direbrew is now a lvl 80 with 300k health, everything else is the same

He is insanely easy if you have a really good healer, just 2 manned as my ret dps spec and a druid healer.

Just did this 3-man, Easy as pie. I got a trinket called Coren's Chromium Coaster. Exact replica of Mirror Of Truth from the Heroism vendor. Hopefully, it stacks! Note, did it again. 'Mithril Pocketwatch' dropped, and -nothing- else, not even the remote.

If you are not level 75+, you can't do this quest, but still you can get the achievment and loot from Coren Direbrew.

So actually you don't have to be 80 to have the Brewmaster title.

And by the way, easily healed the group with 70 resto shaman, so I don't think you need a really good healer :)

Got him to about 15% as a protadin. Could have had him with some tweaking, BUT it appears that you only get one insult per day. Die and it's gone. No do-overs.

The biggest problem is his %^&*! wife, throwing the tankards.

My personal achievement is going to be soloing this dude before Brewfest is over. I'll have him tomorrow.

EDIT: Yeah. The possibility of soloing Coren is of no interest to other readers. Go !@#$ yourselves.

Actually, this wasn't a problem when soloing. It's just that the mugs that she was tossing seemed to hurt a hell of a lot. I (stupidly) didn't look at my combat log to see what was going on, but until she came out and started throwing stuff my health had hardly been touched.

Also, I didn't get any of the kegs on my head. I seem to recall this happening last year, but it didn't happen when I was by myself.

For most of the fight I was chuckling at how easy it was going to be to solo it. If I had had holy light in one of my bars and a single pot, I'm pretty sure I would have had it.

EDIT: She's not HoJ-able, by the way.

This Boss is very easy to solo tank as a lvl 80 Pally. I used Seal of Light and Judgement of Light I do have good gear and def capped. 34k hp unbuffed. I hardly dropped any health at all. I ran it 3 times so far today and only a rogue die when he started it and used Fan of Knives without using Tricks of the Trade You can do the daily quest at lvl 75. Took 3 level 75 hunters in one group and a level 80 mage. So confirmed level 75 to do daily.

I haven't gone into BRD yet to see if I can get Insult Coren Direbrew, but my husband's 64 shammy was unable to get Save Brewfest! and my 65 mage was able to, so for that step at least, the minimum level is 65.

you are trolling, after 4 mins irsa goes insane and cast some wierd dis-orient kegger effect on you and coren starts stunning every 10 seconds, i coudnt avoid anything. i was CC'd the entire time after 4 minutes. i had both light seals/judge up and coudnt do it even balancing my c/d's. she acts like enrage timer specificly for pala tanks trying to solo it seems, btw you can only TRY this once so if you fail you have yo wait another day. dont listen to the arsehole above me he'll just end up making you waste a day

Confirmed you can get this quest at level 75 a friend of mine did on his druid.

Though there are still brewfest bugs I guess. Yesterday I was able to get this quest twice. My girlfriend however was able to get it but unable to hand it in. Oh well I just hope I get my kodo.

I had some problem with summoning this boss, tried to finish it, but said I could not complete more daily quests, even tho I just logged in, also reported the problem to a GM that said that they knew of the problem.

In 2009, this quest requires level 75.

Which is completely obnoxious considering that nothing else in Brewfest requires a level that high. Without this pointless level restriction a 65 should be able to complete everything (assuming you can get help getting to Dalaran - level 74 without help).

To top it off, after killing Direbrew I looted the item "Direbrew's Dire Brew" which reads clearly that it begins a quest and requires level 65. However, my level 72 Troll Warrior is unable to accept the quest - I keep getting the message "You are not high enough level for that quest."

Looks like it was changed with 3.2.2 to require level 80. I used my 75 Warrior to start the fight over the weekend, but as of the patch (3.2.2) on Tuesday, he can no longer pick up the daily.

Okay here's the deal. I am a level 52 rogue. I went with a group of 80s and was able to get the achievement. I hid upstairs and was killed every time. I didn't release from my body so I stayed in the instance. When they downed him, I got the credit as well.

As undeadfred mentioned above, it is indeed possible for two people to burn their dailies at the same time, thereby wasting one shot at the mounts. There seems to be a short window after one person has turned in the daily quest to turn Coren hostile during which it is still possible for another party member to click "Complete Quest", consuming the second person's daily as well.

I just went in to do him today for my daily, and for one of our cashings, he was randomly a 76. The next time around he was 80 again. Note this is a full party of 80s.

For the record, it is possible to complete this quest at level 70. Here's what happened.

I did this quest many times last year at 70. Sometimes after doing the quest, I would log out in BRD. And I think one night, I logged back in, saw the daily, grabbed it, then hearthed. I forgot about getting a group, but I had the level 70 "Insult Coren Direbrew" quest in my log. I never deleted it.

Jump ahead to the 2009 Brewfest, and my "Insult Coren Direbrew" quest turned red and said 80 next to it! I had to see if it still worked! So I got some friends to assist, said I'll go first to see if I can get him to attack, and the quest worked! At level 70, I contributed to 5 attempts on Coren Direbrew. My DPS was poor on him for obvious reasons, but I was able to at least assist against the level 80 non-elites. Got some nice 80 gear out of it too including the new Shanker, even though I can't use it yet (no one needed it). Also looted the keg and got my 40 tokens.

Anyways, that was my one and only shot at being able to summon him. I can't get the quest again since this one toon is only 70. But I was at least finally able to get my Brewmaster title today.

I can confirm that at least a 78 can still get the daily to engage him, don't know about 75-77.

I can confirm that the quest requires level 75. I was 74 and tried to do it yesterday, and I couldn't get the second quest, but I dinged 75 today and tried again, and the quest was available.

Just turned 75 and ran into BRD -
1. you can just hit the console - you don't have to kill the guys guarding them
2. you CAN get the "Insult Coren" daily quest at 75

Is this work?

1.Convert group to Raid.
2.Get 6th who have Remote, and ask him to put Remote.
3. five members ride on Remote.(FYI, BRD have only 5 man capacity)
4. all member pick up quest and challenge him.

no longer available, u now just insult him by directly talking to him (at least when u use dungeonfinder, assume it's the same if u didn't)

u can kill him x amounts of time so farm ur trink if u like

You need to be lvl 78 to be able to que for him in the random dungeon search. And now its the keg of treasures that has a chance of dropping the mount and you only get that once a day which sucks. The Keg doesn't always drop the mount either :(

Description

Coren Direbrew is in the next room, riling up Dark Iron dwarves for another attack on Brewfest. Defeat him!

Go to Coren and pick a fight. Tell him his beer isn't fit for pigs.

When you do that, be ready for a fight. The last person who insulted his brew... was fed to dire boars.
