This quest chain will let you summon Headless Horseman one extra time. This one don't count towards the daily, so you can do this and daily same day. Though this quest is a one-time quest. You get the questchain from the pumpkin that spawns after putting out fires that Headless Horseman starts at starter towns like Goldshire.

You now have to be at least 75 instead of 65 since the levels went up. Below level 75 you will not be able to pick up the daily quest to kill the horseman.

The 2009 Hallows End Headless Horseman can be taken down by just 2 in about 7-8 minutes. I just did this (resto shaman with about 60% Naxx gear, 30% Ulduar gear and 10% badge/other 80+ gear) with a mostly Naxx-geared prot paladin.

The pally did the bulk of the damage, which is likely why it took so long to take him down. When the head is detached, I helped with lightning bolts at a distance while standing in the consecration. I kept the pally wreathed in Earth Shields, which healed for 3000+ (6000+ crits), which was way more than enough to keep her at 100%.

During the next phase, I obviously got 100% of his burning head attacks, but they only did 666 damage per tick and those are completely mitigated by a well-timed riptide, ticking at over 900. Even when I missed the timing, I rarely dropped below 75% and a riptide/chain heal would put us both back at 100%.

During the last phase, all I had to do was stand in the consecration and the pumpkin soldiers paid no attention to me. The need to hit the pally with riptide was a bit more common during this fight but really wasn't anything to sweat over.

All in all, with the two of us, this guy is cake. Waiting for a group of 5 would certainly provide more opportunities for things to drop, but we'd also have to contend with 3 other people whose intentions we don't know or have the same need for an item. Now that we know we can do it with no problems at all, we decided it'd be better this way since we both know what we want and need.

The Headless Horseman may be level 80 now, BUT, he fights as if he were still a 70. My group just took him down 9 times in a row. Would seem a good geared pair of DPS heavy characters could duo it, or a trio of moderately geared players with 1 bein a healer. enjoy the HH this year :)

Just did this without a healer. Paladin tank in healed himself to full between phases. I imagine a druid could do the same, and a death knight could death strike.

We did it in a group of 3 on our ToC geared alts.

It's an 80 elite now - have fun! But the funny thing is the quest shows up as a low level quest for me - LOL

The fight this year is decently easy, I was able to 2 1/2 man it with the following setup:

Tank - Ret Pally in PvP gear (my account)
Healer - Holy Priest (fresh 80) (friend of mine)
DPS - Warlock (also my account)

When fighting the Horseman I'd be on my Pally. When fighting the head I'd alt-tab and pewpew with my Warlock.

Throw in the fact that I have a 3rd account with a couple level 80s, I'd use that 3rd account just for their summons.

Not intended as an epeen post, just a "it can be done" heads up. Makes it more likely we'll be able to get the mount.. /pray

Wondering if anyone lower than level 75 can still kill the Headless Horseman and get credit for the kill without the quest? Would a questless kill get credit to the achievement?

DO NOT vanish/invs or anything else to drop threat when u summon him, he will despawn. LAME!
