All three soil samples can be found around coordinates 72, 22, north of Forge Camp: Anger. Once you've found the southern sample, the two others are just north.

You'll know you're in the right place when you see the fire elementals and scorched imps, in an region called Skald.

There are a lot of elementals and imps here, be prepared for a significant amount of fire damage. Consider bringing a friend.

Probably soloable by all classes, but as a 67 Warrior I found this quest a real pain. The Fire Elemental's "Immolation" hits you for 135 fire damage every second while in melee range, much like the Night Elf Hero (Demon Stalker) / Illidan look-alike from Warcraft III.

An extreme pain if several mobs are pulled, be careful!

The soil disappears for a little while after someone uses it, so if you can't seem to find them, consider waiting a minute or two for them to respawn.

Watch out rogues, these elementals are bugged so they like follows you around even when you're out of combat.

The mobs will see you in stealth, flying with mount wont help. You will be followed by them anyway. Seen them follow you all the way back to base where you return the quest. So make sure you dont have any unwelcomed guests behind you.

these mobs are very buggy. they will spawn and immediately come after you even when you're out of combat and stealthed.

be prepared to have like 2-3 come after you.

So that explains why I, after escaping them and falling down to the pikes over Gruul's Lair suddenly got killed by 2 Searing Elementals.

I wondered why they would spawn there.
Way too much res sickness while questing in Blade's Edge Mountain :(

Seems like those fire elementals at the Central one are going to follow you till u kill them. I had em following me around for while, i did get out of combat but still they came.

As frost mage they were easy to kill. And the quest is easily soloable as frostie.

I did this today on my 70 prot warrior. After I planted the south and central seeds, I noticed 2 elementals on me. I was able to get out of combat long enough to mount up on my flying mount.

As I flew up to get the north pile and I noticed the 2 elementals still on me. So I /console reloadui...they were still there. I sent in a ticket then exited the game completely. When I came back on, they were still aggro'd onto my warrior (on flying mount and 50ft in the air). So I thought I'd kite them to Ruuan Weald and have the NPC's take care of them. I think they bugged out when I flew over the spiked cliffs because I didn't see them after that.

After I did the north pile another elemental aggro'd on me (mob was quite a distance from me and didn't aggro before I clicked the pile). While I was trying to get him down, I got ganked. When I went back to my body, the elemental aggro'd on my ghost for lil. I got ganked again trying to take the mob out. This time I didn't release and made sure the lock that ganked me took down the elemental. It seemed to work.

When I talked to the GM, they said they could neither confirm nor deny the aggro'd elementals were part of any quest. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say they are.

These mobs can also see through vanish. I was done with the quest and two were on me so i decided to just vanish and turn in but after vanishing the two just kept following me, about 5yds from my back, which was very odd. So then i mounted up and left and they started attacking me. ???lol

This place is torture...no Immolate, relying on Corruption and Curse of Agony and killing my mana with Shadowbolt and Drain Life, oh yeah...and a fire damage wand...then having another mob come from behind...Felguard dies ive no mana to re summon only banish the mob then he comes after me and kills me....one more to go with ALL my armour in the red...

best thing to do, get a friend who is mooncloth spec, give him the primals, while your lvling so he can have cloth for you when you hit 70, or until you can make your own, that way the 72 days of CDs used to make this set are part over while your lvling

Talk about bugged. I had to go to the bathroom so I flew up to be safe.. yeah right when I came back there was this elemental up in the air that killed me.. And cannot get back to my corpse as it "hangs" high up in the air.. Poor Frostis (an Allie) died like me just a bit away..

This quest appears to be fixed. I had 0 aggro problems and 0 problems overall completing this.

As of Patch 2.1 I had no crazy aggro issues with the Searing Elementals (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=20514). Be sure to kill a few of them before you leave as they drop Mote of Fire at a rather decent rate that sell very well on AH or you can bank them for future enchants, etc...

Can be a very annoying quest, easy to aggro several things at once. Also as mentioned the places is farmed pretty heavily at times so you may want to watch for the opposing faction, although every time I've been there they usually just ignore you an pay more attention to the elementals. One thing you also need to watch out for is the quick respawn rate. I killed an elemental before planting the seeds, but before I got done planting another had spawned virtually in the same place and stopped me from planting.... had that happen 2 more times before I was finally able to get them planted.

If you are going to sell the reward for gold, the staff nets you 8g 35s, while the bow only sells for 5g and the shield 4g 40s.

some reason, the seeds had disapeared from my bag when i got there.

my friend had some, and i got cred for doing the quest, but i get back and the dumb tree want the seed back that (i thought) he never gave me.

i thought maybe i sent them to my alt as they look exactly like spices for cooking. but no you cant send quest items.

they werent in my alts mailbox anyway.

then i though id sold them. but you cant sell quest items.

go figure?

Paladins, don't forget your Exorcism, use it on the imps, they go down in 2 seconds flat. Overall it wasn't too difficult (68 Ret Paladin), just had to make sure not to aggro more than 2 at a time, snapped my fire resistance aura and went at it. I found the hardest hitting thing around there are the darn basilisks >_<

You have to use the provided Ironroot Seeds it on three different objectives, namely:

Fertile Volcanic Soil (North)
Fertile Volcanic Soil (Central)
Fertile Volcanic Soil (South)

Here is a map for each of them, or, if you'd rather prefer, the exact TomTom co-ordinations:

Mosswood the Ancient wants you to journey to Skald and plant Ironroot Seeds in three different mounds of Fertile Volcanic Soil and then return to him in Ruuan Weald.

Description

If you follow the road east and up the side of the mountain, then turn north, you will come to my long lost home.

Once there was a wood there. Its name is forgotten. Long ago the Burning Legion summoned scorched imps and other creatures of flame. My home was destroyed and my people fled. Now only I remain.

I have saved some ironroot seeds that could be planted in fertile volcanic soil. Their magic is strong. Do this for me and I will share with you the treasures of a forgotten age.
