This appears to be looted from other high-level herb nodes. Definitely can be looted from Lichbloom, and I believe it can come from Icethorn.

Frost Lotus is found rarely within all Northrend herbs except Firethorn and Frozen Herb.

Strangely enough, it appears it is both a herb and a plant, and has also been found during beta, in the Wintergrasp PvP zone, as a Frost Lotus Plant, yielding one Frost Lotus herb and some Deadnettle.

I have found many of these randomly while farming other herbs in Howling Fjord. I'm pretty sure they are the just like the old lotus that are acquired by farming all other herbs.

I found an extra frost lotus in the herb, meaning i received 2 from 1 plant, both lotusses were stacked seperatly

I found a Frost Lotus node in Wintergrasp (it contained one lotus), so the standalone nodes do exist.

frost lotus count is so high?

this only leads to one question though, do these only appear when your side (horde/alliance) has control over wintergarde? like those enternal fire drops when under control etc?

I just found one Forst lotus node. Though Wintergarde was alliance controlled at the moment
and i was also from alliance. Also these herbs are rare and hard to find even in wintergrasp.

Does your faction need to control Wintergrasp in order to see these? I can't seem to find any when we don't control WG.

Edit: Nevermind this. I just found one while Alliance controlled the zone. So your faction does NOT need to control WG in order for you to see these.

The Frost Lotus is currently the highest level herb in Wotlk there is, and is likely to stay the highest level herb in this exspansion!
The Frost Lotus is as the previous Lotus; the Black Lotus (Pre TBC) and the Fel Lotus (TBC), used in Flasks, wich is the most common use of the Lotus plants.
F.ex. The pre TBC Flask: Flask of the Titans, and the TBC flasks like: Flask of Fortification

The latest member of the Lotus family, the Frost Lotus, is for now only used in the making of any Wotlk Flask and one of the three level 400 Alchemy stones.

Sidenote
In Pre TBC, only 4 Black Lotus could be spawned at any given time. One per zone could be spawned at a time. The spawn time for Black Lotus was between 45 mins to 1 hour 15 mins.
This was later changed in patch 2.1.0, so that the Black Lotus could be herbed by herbable mobs.
I doubt the Frost Lotus can be herbed of any killed herbable mob, if u come across it, dont hesitate to comment!

I came across one piece of Frost Lotus while gathering some Goldclover in Howling Fjord - right outside New Agamand. So, it is entirely possible to get it in other places; but I think that if it outside Wintergrasp then it's a super rare spawn.

I been running around Wintergrasp and marking out where I found Frost Lotuses and I have noticed that they share the same spawn spot as Frozen Herbs.

I just spent about an hour in Wintergrasp and did not find a single Frost Lotus node. Nor did I obtain Frost Lotus from any of the other nodes (Lichbloom, Icethorn, Frozen Herb).

Am I missing something?

As of 3.1.2, they now spawn in Freya's room. Tonight we had at least 6 nodes.

i was able to farm acquire 1 frost lotus from icecrown and 1 frost lotus from the storm peaks. each one was a 'bonus' herb while i was gathering icethorn and lichbloom.

and my luck in wintergrasp is horrible. been there for an hour and have only found goldclover and tiger lilly.

It seems almost every herb point in Wintergrasp has a chance to spawn a frost lotus node. I have Gatherer, and I can't even see the lotus nodes over the other herbs that spawn at each point when I look at my map.

So if your trying to farm these you have to pick up everything.

After running around Wintergrasp for about 2 hours, my Gatherer pretty much made a path for me to go, outlined (poorly) by me:

Each time I ran this circuit, I found 3 Frost Lotus nodes. Maybe I'm just lucky, but they were at different spots each time and sometimes back to back.

I myself and a few others have noticed that Frost Lotus do spawn within Freya's ( A boss in Ulduar ) Room. It is possible to pick these without aggroing Mobs near by. A have found a video on how some people have done this. The more detailed description is on the video about it.

With the ability to fly in Wintergrasp, now, this herb is easier than ever to gather; simply fly a figure of 8 around the zone. The herbs spawn at the base of trees, and share spawn points with Frozen Herbs, Lichbloom, and Icethorn.

Avoid mobs by flying a reasonable distance above the ground, and if aggroed fly straight up in the air until aggro is lost.

It might have been just luck but try farming right after a server restart. Even the rolling restarts. I found 3 lotus nodes in just flying around WG once. One contained an extra lotus. The other two were contained in other herbs. Got all 6 of those within about 20 mins or so of the server opening back up.

I've not seen an actual Frost Lotus node in WG for a good week or two, starting to wonder if blizz has done something

If you don't pick the herbs in Freya's room they will despawn and all the herbs will be lost. Make sure you clean the room on flowers before you leave after killing her.
I would guess the flowers stay for as long as there is mobs in there...

Edit: How I found out. we came to freya, killed her and then we called the raid for the night (10man-guild). My flowerbag happned to be full so I didn't pick anything. I went in there the day after and all the monster and flowers had despawned.
Edit2: If you look on the ulduar map for where the lotuses are: click on change floor and pick the inner sanctum of ulduar.

I don't think the problem is there not being much, there is just so many people trying to farm frost lotus with flying mounts in WG, when there is only 100 nodes, that there is not enough to go around.

After farming the area alot I have come to the conclusion that the Frost Lotice node should read 1-2 frost lotice ... 2 being Very rare
also a frost lotice node does have a chance of having a frost Lotice just like any other herb nodes..

I spent two solid hours during off-peak (about 5-7 am server; roughly from the end of one battle to the start of another) in WG farming exclusively herbs... and I saw a SINGLE hard-spawn node of Frost Lotus in that entire time. I do something like this once every week or so to pay the bills, and traditionally average about 14-15 Frost Lotus nodes during that same time period.

This leads me to believe that either A) demand for this stuff has skyrocketed dramatically since 3.3 (I feel like this is unlikely, as people on my server are, if anything, raiding less, and during that entire two hours I saw just one other player in WG, who I killed), or B) that the spawn rate of the nodes has been cut back dramatically.

it probably requires 450 herbalism skill to gather.

I find them in Adder's Tongue farms a lot inSholozar Basin....Sholozar is always a favorite of mine to farm for ore and herbs. Don't know if there is anything signifigant about this just throwin' it out there.

I just made a full run around Wintergrasp - maybe about 10-15 minutes - and that's what I observed:

I have recently found 2 Frost Lotus nodes. On other days i see none, sometimes I see one or two. I don't think spawn rate has changed, it's just your luck.

On the other note, herbs are depending really on luck. Unless it's normal you get 3:1 ratio of received Icethorn/Lichbloom to Frost Lotus (9 Icethorn, 6 Lichbloom and 5 Frost Lotuses on full run around Wintergrasp - herbs, not nodes) and on the other day you may get 10:1 as well, so rate seems to be fine - it's just your luck.

Grabbing these from regular herbs is kinda beyond just random.
First day of really farming I got 2 and about 200 herbs. the second day I grabbed 11 and maybe half the amount of herbs.

I used to farm constantly over all of Northrend doing faction dailies and WG since getting Northrend Flying at 77 back when Wrath first came out. So in my travels, I've seen plenty of Frost Lotus but lately, I have noticed very few at all.

First, I haven't seen one Frost Lotus as a stand-alone herb since the last patch in Wintergrasp. Further, I have seen a big decrease of the number of Frost Lotus attached to another herb nodes as well. There's a huge demand for high-end flasks and all require Frost Lotus. Why has Blizzard decreased the number of Frost Lotus?

I've been farming Frost Lotus in Wintergrasp for past week or so. About 2 hours a day.
In my farming I've seen maybe 1 or 2 spawns of the FL node in the northern part of the map, but several dozen spawns in the lower half of the map. To be specific, I've found them in the area of the map below the line from the Shadowsight tower to the Flamewatch tower.

I've also found that if you farm the area, and gather every node you see, regardless of what comes up, (frozen herb, lichbloom, icethorn, or frost lotus) and then give it about 7 to 10 minutes to respawn everything, about 2 of the respawns will be a frost lotus spawn.

And if anyone is interested, your 10 minutes of waiting is a great time to pull out your fishing pole.

Using this method, I have made over 1000g in a day, selling off all of the fish and herbs on the auction house.

I dont know if anyone gonna answer my comment but i will try my luck :)
I got alchemy 435 and all the red recipes that opened ( 4 new ) , require frost lotus .
I got plently of the other herbs, like Icethorn , Lichbloom , Goldclover but i really cant find Frost Lotus .
The best droppable area is Wintergrasp ? because i went there 2-3 times and after spending and hour or so on every attempt, i found very few lotuses , like 4-5 ...
