This guy is quite annoying if you're in a group that is not in highlevel gear yet. By himself he wouldn't be much of a problem to take down, but he spawns a *lot* of adds.

Does anybody have a useful strategy for him, or is it just spam dps before too much of the adds join the party? Using disarm on him when he pulls out one of him melee weapons helps a bit.

Final Phase: Tel'Vrak - HOW TO...

We attempted this the first time a few days ago and wiped like many reading. Today, we had an epiphany, or if you prefer, a /palmtoforehead moment:

We confronted Tel'vrak with a BM hunter, fire mage and resto druid. We targeted Tel'vrak, and paid NO attention to the swarms coming in. As we DPS'ed Tel'vrak, we each used our "Strafing Run" (calling for the bombing run) ON US, ie on OUR location, and in rotation (not all at the same time). This systematically eliminated ALL the swarms. It was so easy, we felt very stupid. The druid had very little work to do in the end.

We never stopped targeting Tel'vrak and he went down fairly quickly. It was not a close call.

None of us are sublimely equiped: 444 on hunter, 434 on druid and 431 on mage.

I hope this helps all of you get past him just as easily.

My group had a bit of trouble with 3 DPS, so I switched to resto. Made it MUCH easier. If someone in your group has a healing spec, it makes sense to use it on this boss.

This fight's mechanics are very coordination-oriented, which (in my opinion) is contradictory to the current theme of scenarios. If any member of your group wastes their bomb by going out of turn or using it on the boss when there are no adds, then the adds will almost definitely overrun a typically-geared scenario group. The bombs actually have a very low limit on their total damage divided across all enemies hit, so 2-3 waves of adds at once will not be killable by a single bomb.

However, our group's main problem was not the adds (their damage is easily healed by my shaman's healing stream totem while in elemental spec); it was the ridiculous damage from his "Impale" ability. The ability's tooltip states that it hits all enemies in a straight line, but it has no visible cast bar. The animation is also very fast (similar to a warrior's heroic throw) and appears to have a 100% chance to hit its primary target. This would not normally pose an issue, but Tel'varak occasionally uses this skill in quick succession. It typically hits my mail-wearing shaman for ~95k, which quickly turns the tide of the fight in Tel'Vrak's favor.

TLDR: Bring a healer or a healing spec if your expecting a low-dps group that wastes bombs.
