Don't try to farm Essence of Earth off these guys. I've cleared the mountain 4 times now (approx 60 kills) and I haven't had a single one drop.

These guys are made for farming. Big numbers across a wide area, quick respawn time. It's still luck of the draw, but after only 15 minutes I'd gotten 4 Elemental Earth, 2 Core of Earth and about 50g in vendor trash and a couple greens.

They are a pretty good drop for elemental earth, i make about 1 1/2 or 2 rounds of the mountain for each possitive drop. i also get about 1/2 as much of essence of earth and core of earth (that is i get 2 elemental earths for each of the other two). well worth the time. (FYI, for those looking for globe of water they drop off the Ice Avatars to the south).

I went in search of elemental earth. I came out with one elemental earth, six cores of earth, and 7 essence of earth. I wish they'd add something better for farming Elemental Earth. For 30 minutes of killing...this is just too tedius.

If you want to knock out 2 birds with one stone, farming these mobs is not only a good way to get all of the Earth-based old world trade goods, but also they have a small chance to drop Azure Whelpling.

i was working for elemental earth so i decided to see how many of whatever i got in 100 kills
elemental earth - 10
essence of earth - 5
core of earth - 4
inert elemental shard - 52
inert elemental piece - 30
clout mace - 1
laminated scale bracers - 1
bloodwoven wraps of the owl - 1

this is the second mob i've tried and elemental earths are not dropping from them as of 4.3 they have a higher drop rate on essence of earth and core of earth then elemental earth even tho the graph on this site says that those should be dropping less often.

I just farmed on these mobs for about 55min, and got 20 Elemental earth. They are really made for farming these mobs. Big numbers across an okey area and a quick respawn time so u dont have to stop and wait.

There was also quit some cash in vendoring trash.

This is a great place to farm Core of Earth, Elemental Earth, and Essence of Earth. There are about 16 mobs that are in a small area and on a very fast respawn timer. I could just keep farming and didn't have to wait for respawns. On a level 90 druid I was able to do 100 kills in around 15 minutes - partially thanks to the ability to instantly shift to flight form (the mobs are on a medium sized, but steep hill).

The results of 100 kills:
Inert Elemental Shard - 60
Inert Elemental Piece - 24
Core of Earth - 6
Elemental Earth - 5
Essence of Earth - 5
