When you go down into D-Block and get to where the hallways split left and right, go right to find Svarnos. He is at the end of the right hallway.

In addition to dropping the collar for the quest Svarnos, defeating him will count as a demon kill for D-Block.

He is also the only green core hound to have the burning fire sound effect after you tame it, just like the red core hounds. The other green ones in Shadowmoon Valley do not have this sound effect. While Gomegaz in Blasted Lands also has the sound effect, he isn't the same as Svarnos because his flames are red instead of green, and his skin, despite what the site says, is more yellowish green than pure green. Might not be noticable unless you make Gomegaz stand right next to another green core hounds.

EDIT: apparently I was mistaken about the burning fire sound effect. I saw a hunter in town today with a pure green core hound, but it was only level 76. Asked him where he tamed it but he unfortunately placed me on /ignore. So I went to Shadowmoon Valley to test it out, and both Uvuros and Spawn of Uvuros have the burning fire sound effect too. You have to Dismiss them then call them back for it to trigger. I do not know when that was changed, but during WotLK they where silent aside from their stomping noises and roars. I'm guessing this is new from Cataclysm, though I can't say from which patch exactly.

This is the only core hound of all of them to be tamed at 85 instead of having to level up one of the 82 core hounds

just wanted to add, i went to tame this guy today but the door to d-block wasn't open. i aggro'd some crocs and died and was able to run thru the gate as a ghost. i am now the proud papa of a big beautiful level 85 core hound.

He is tameable by hunters. Can be difficult since it's to be killed as part of a daily. You'll just have to get down there after everyone's got the daily done (or between rushes).

Yes indeed this can be tamed. uploaded a ss of it after taming, i didnt think it would be at first so hit it with a beast lore and yes it can be tamed. Of course it can only be tamed by a beast master hunter just like all other core hounds. The easiest way to do it, which i happened upon, is go to TB about 10 minutes before the zone reset for next battle, most people are cleared out by then. Make sure noone is coming up the hall towards him for the kill and tame it back in the corner of the room. I really like the dripping slime effect that comes with it ^_^. and yes this is the ONLY core hound you can get that will be 85 when you tame it....sadly after 4.1 when we all put our blood sweat and tears into taming beasts every hunter out there is guna get the pet at 85 when they tame it at 85, but thats neither here nor there for this post.

For anyone trying to get in D-Block and tame him in Shadowlands:

I've tried waiting for quest, tried pulling mobs and die, falling of the cliff etc, hopelesss. Yet there is a way.

Simply get some Pinchwhistle "Nitro Fuel" you'll probably need a couple. Set up campfire near the door or summon a fire pet then consume it. Quickest way to kill yourself then run trough the door as a ghost.
