Was able to two man him with a ret paladin & resto druid. (heroic 5 man & 10 man naxx gear). This boss was by far the longest or hardest imo. He will mind control someone in your party and if it is a healer, he will throw heals on him self. He also fears so you may want to clear some of the mobs around him. One bad thing about the disciples around him is they burn your mana and with multiple ones this can be deadly.

Yep, he was.

He used to be a moderate challenge with hard hitting and 260k health.

Now he hits weaker and only has 106k health. It's also a "group daily" to kill this guy.

Definitely nerfed in 3.0.8; I was able to 1-man him w/an elemental shaman with 2400 SP and a health potion. Make sure to drop a tremor totem as he fears.

It's worth noting mages can spellsteal his healing.

He is also stunnable.

Seems like a lot depends from luck: tried him 4 times as retri paladin
1st time i got lolled redicolously fast
2nd time i was prepared and got him to 50% untill he feared and killed me
3rd time i got him to 10k hp before he feared and i was oom.
4th time... only got to 54% before death...

So, should have at least healer for me, or a bit more dps

Clearly been nerfed since the last time i tried this, managed to solo as a Frost Mage in my PvE gear. Very easy with cooldowns up.

He still hits insanely hard(3-3.5k melee hit, 7.3k crit), but you can Spellsteal his renews, which tick for 2730.

Solo'd as lvl 80 unholy DPS DK with decent gear. Went in frost presence but could have done it just as well in blood. Be sure to equip a pvp trinket to cancel his fear, get your diseases up on him, summon your army of the dead then just keep scourge striking him and throw in a death coil here and there or summon gargoyle, only lost like 20% hp which was when i was channeling AotD, your ghouls will tank most of his attacks and by the time your army is dead, so will he be.

I found this guy impossible to kill as a Holy Paladin.

At ~50% he stars Renewing himself and my DPS just didn't cut it, I got him to about 30% by bursting and "stunlocking" him (HoW & HW) at which point I was required to heal myself, at which point his Renew ticks had healed him up again.

Managed to solo him as a protection warrior, in a mix of Naxx25/Uld10 gear, on the second try (Had 1k HP left at the end).
The trick is to reflect his SW:P, stun him (with Conc. Blow and Shockwave) when he Mind Flays, Shield Bash his renew and use Berserker Rage when he fears.
It takes timing and a little luck but it is possible.

I just solo'd this guy for the first time (barely lived) as a Survival Hunter (01/15/55) with end-Naxx gear, envoy of mortality, and loatheb's shadow. Used a 40crit food buff, and a wolf pet.

Pet died in the process, but I was lucky enough to proc LnL which saved my life.

Used aimed shot once or twice, and a kill shot, but I couldn't manage to get Renew dispelled (he runs toward you once your pet dies).

this guy was extremly easy. I soloed him on my blood DK just used army of ghouls and mark of blood when they died, and ofcourse alot of nuking! :D

I solo'd him on my Paladin tank. His HoT makes him quite difficult and his fears can quite often force you into nearby mobs. Just try to keep your back to the wall behind his obelisk and if you have something to break fear use it often. As long as you can DPS past his healing then you should be good. :)

Soloable by a resto shaman

Drop tremor, mana spring, wrath of air, and either your fire ele totem or searing totem. I keep flametongue on my dagger and just whack him while recasting water/lightning shield, flame shock, and purge (for his Renew). Takes a few minutes, but as long as you keep your HP (and you fire ele's HP) up you should be fine

Soloed as a Frost mage 20/0/51 in my PvP gear so as to have a bit more health.

He hit for about 3-3.5k on my cloth character, so it only takes a few hits from him to down a ice barrier, so unless you're straining for mana, don't be afraid to use mana shield, especially if you need to trade mana for health in that regard (don't do this too often though, obviously). Had to pop every CD except for invisibility and cold snap, and blew my Water Elemental and Icy Veins at the beginning of the fight.

His renew doesn't seem to start popping up until halfway through the fight, but once it's out, you're pretty much solid provided you a) actually spellsteal the thing and b) keep throwing up Ice Barrier when it's off CD. He also does a nasty fear at intervals after his health drops to below half, so watch out for that as well.

TL:DR - Blow all your damage CDs at the beginning, get him to half health, and keep an eye out for Renew and Spellsteal it when you can, and you should be golden.

Of course, standard kiting precedures and watching out for the mobs around the room goes w/o saying.

Just solo'd as well geared moonkin, he went down farily quickly - maybe 30 to 40 seconds. not the fight i was expecting...
started with rejuv on me, threw FF, IS and MF on him, applied LBx3, dropped trents and a couple of wrath, applied regrowth (tho it wasn't really needed at this point, just reflex as it is my typical plan for big baddies...) and maybe 5 starfire. done. I was lucky in that eclipse proc'd on my second wrath.

easily solo'd with Blood/unholy dk. summon ghoul at the start of the fight along with army (optional)
make sure the army and ghoul have aggro, get enough runic power to summon dancing weapon and dps him down. takes about <25 seconds. mostly 232 and 245 gear with 264 trinket. ~7k dps 24khp. didn't even lose 1hp in the whole fight.

Just soloed as an assassination rogue in raid spec and pretty bad gear, wasn't too difficult. Started out in stealth and opened with garrote to get the usual rotation going on. Evasion right from the start followed by CoS when he casted the DoT spell. HFB & SnD up in the beginning and just kept the DPS rotation up. Used one potion for extra safety and finished with ~13k HP left. Didn't get feared at any point.

Soloed as a Prot Warrior with 29k HP. I died as soon as I killed him. Gather the parts from the chests after killing all the mobs...then summon him and put him 6 feet under.

The Cult of the Damned, originally led by Kel'thuzad (a soul conscripted like so many of its other members, by the subtle beckoning of the Lich King enclosed inside the Frozen Throne), the catalyst of the destruction of Lordaeron, and those responsible for the death—and raising, through necromancy—of thousands, even millions, of men, women, and children. They are an arm, a separate section, to the Scourge, and a vital one at that: they are the mortal servants of the Lich King. And they do things which the undead cannot, such as infiltration in Valiance Keep (Quest: The Hunt is On) and in Sholazar Basin (Quest: Exterminate the Intruders)

"The Cult of the Damned has grown large in scope. Nearly every city, from the capitals to the small hamlets and hovels of both the Horde and Alliance, have Cult members hidden amongst their citizenry. Do not look so surprised. The Cult only wears a uniform for ritual and ceremony. It is quite possible that you have interacted with one during your adventures and not even known." (NPC: Magistrate Marduke) A major part of a Cultist's job, depending on their placement inside the organization, is infiltration of places (as listed above); largely, this is accomplished with an Orb of Illusion, an item given to every Initiate: "These artifacts are used to disguise a cult member, allowing them to gain safe passage, infiltrate, or simply blend in with an enemy." (Quest: Drag and Drop)

While the Orbs of Illusion may hide the visual effects of one's participation in Cult affairs (such as necromancy), there are certain things that simply cannot be hidden, not when an Oculus of the Exorcist, which allows those wielding it "to detect recent users of Cult of the Damned necromancy." (Item: Oculus of the Exorcist)

During its earlier years, the Cult preyed upon the outcasts in Lordaeron society—the abused, forgotten, unpopular, the failures—to fuel their agenda with willing, and wholly dedicated, individuals. They offered them anything—fame, power, glory, and money—to motivate them. Yet, simple devotion and a pledge of fealty is not enough; "pledges to the cult are forced to drink a concoction that steals their will and enslaves them forever to the Lich King." (Quest: Cannot Reproduce)

Using a plot of land owned by the Barovs, the Cult of the Damned opened up a clandestine academy named, Scholomance: here, Initiates of the Cult were trained in the art of Necromancy, indoctrinated with the dogma of the Cult, and fully converted to the ways of the organization. Cultist have a fascination with undeath; their greatest desire is to become undead (the ticket to immortality). And as such, their greatest punishment (and greatest motivation) is the threat of death without rebirth.

The Cult used the Plague of Undeath, a magically-enhanced disease which not only murdered its hosts but raises them as the undead, to destroy both of the Kingdom of Lordaeron. The grain shipments, using Andorhal as its main hub, was the device by which the Cult employed to spread the regnant Plague of Undeath. With each fallen foe, the Scourge grew—and the necromancers of the Cult were vital to achieving that overwhelming advantage against their enemy.

Currently, the only two members of the Cult of the Damned that are not inside the game-world are Ul'haik Hadanot and Pai Stormbringer; they are Next-in-Line to ascend to undeath, making them the mortal leaders of the Cult, and the only two members of this organization that are not dead, in the literal sense.

The first ascended cultist perhaps? I heard that in Cata there would be ascended cultists, ones that have succeeded in turning into elementals.

Very easily soloable as arcane mage in good gear. I just popped my trinket, Mirror Image, Icy Veins & Presence of Mind, and just kept spamming Arcane Blast with 4 stacks. I had 7k hp left out of 18k when he was down.

Very easy to solo now. He only has just over 100k health. Just burn him down and hand in the quest. :) Did it as a fire mage with 25k health and only dropped to 60% health.

To complete this quest you must collect all the parts. All of those parts are located in the bottom room 51, 32. If you see the big blue/purple crystal in the back, you're in the right room. You must open up the chests to get the parts. When you have all the parts, go to the crystal and right click to combine them. The boss will spawn.

I just soloed with my lvl 74 rogue, it was a really close fight. You have to save your stuns for his "Mind Flay" ability. I had to use my neck health trinket and a health potion. Lucky for my, i could use my forsaken racial for the Psychic Scream.
