This guard is supposed to spawn when you open the Arcane Container in Steamvault (http://www.wowhead.com/?object=182196) since Patch 2.0.7, to prevent more players than just the original group from getting the key without having to run the instance.

Duo'd tonite with 2 mages. One was Arc/Fire, other deep fire. Basically there is this little rock hill to the the left of the bridge that leads to the last bosses, this is where you want to run to.

We both used invisibility and ran as close to it as we could. Then right when we had 1 second or so left on it we both chugged a Lesser Invisibility pot which gave us enough time to get the top of the hill.

At this point you can jump into water and not have to worry about any mobs.

We had one swim down and open it then swim back up to the top while one hammered it. When we got low on HP we staggered our frost novas to keep him off of us and bandage. Neither of us died. We were quite impressed :]

So it is duo'able with 2 mages :]

Very easy solo as a warlock, put on your waterbreathing buff and go underthe water, he can be feared so keep up fear and he wont agro other mobs either.

today i soloed it as 70 level bad geared feral druid. Hardest part was to get by pass all patrols.

A rogue can solo this key fragment. A healthstone, a potion, and buffs from friends help, but regardless you can stealth to it solo and should be able to solo the guardian after 1 or 2 tries.

Easily soloed as a 70 druid, prowl/sprint to the water. Cast regrowth and rejuvenation before opening the Arcane Container then bear form and mangle/maul away (may want to bash then heal if required ,make sure you swim back up so you don't drown :)

In my opinion, these are things to keep in mind if trying to solo this (especially if you're a mage):

1) Lesser Invisibility Potions share a 10min cooldown with Mana Emeralds... be prepared to wait if you think you'll need the Emerald (turns out I didn't... but it would help).
2) The Fragment Guardian is classified as a beast, so anything that works on beasts should work on it (I have only tested sheep, which works).
3) If you summon it, and it kills you, it will be there when you go back and won't require another summon (unless you take a really long time). This was great for me as it allowed me to start the fight at max range and open with a pyroblast.

I solo'd this a few days after I hit level 70. Used a health potion and some mana-shielding. Not too difficult, it only has 21,000 hp.

the doorway shuts after you defeat the last boss, trapping you in the chamber - make sure you get this before you kill the last boss.

Edit: You can HS out, and reenter the instance without resetting it in order to get the fragment. Had two others with me at the time. One stayed in the instance, myself and the other HS'd out and then summoned the guy who was in the instace using the meeting stone, then we reentered. Worked nicely :)

The guardian can be feared!
As it counts as a beast as others say, Scare Beast of a Hunter likely works aswell.

The way i solo'd it on my lock:
- Soulstoned myself, sacced Voidwalker and drank Lesser Invisibility potion.
- Die halfway in between and wait for the 10min CD on the potion to pass.
- Ressurect (there is a save spot in between, just wait for the elemental patrolls to pass), drink a pot and run the other half.

Remark: Swiftness potion will remove your invisibility buff, so not useable in combination. (found out the hard way)

If you are a class that can solo the guardian, then just look for someone that has a heroic id for the instance. Walk in, kill guardian, walk out, done.
