Finally found one at 53, 63 in the maw after a few hours of searching. Was starting to believe it didn't exist! It was rare quality and was not a secondary pet.

Shares a spawn with Deathroach and Scurrying Mawrat within the Beastwarrens. Follow the roads for the spawns.
This is a Rare spawn, and you can no longer kill physically the others to spawn it, you need to defeat each deathroach or scurrying mawrat in battle to despawn them for a chance of a Vile Deathroach spawn.

It took me the better part of two hours battling every pet that popped up until one of these elusive critters finally spawned in right near the northernmost entrance to Korthia.

Knowing that Wowhead user interface isn't completely familiar to everyone:
1) on the nice map this article has showing all the spawn points for Vile Deathroach, click one of the yellow dots
2) select Copy All TomTom Command
3) paste it all to your Paste addon or what have you
4) have fun chasing the elusive Vile ones

Wait until weekly reset.
Log in as soon as you can after reset, then spam this macro as you run between all the waypoints.
Suggest using Comfortable Rider's Barding so you can run past mobs without getting dazed. (Druids, mount up instead of using travel form.)
Only took me two laps around the Beastwarrens to find my Vile Deathroach. Good luck finding yours.

Did at least 40 battles, saw the Vile Deathroach spawn 5 times, each time it was a critter, not a battle pet. This "fake rare" thing is becoming a nuisance. It's simply not fun.

Took me a good 4 hours of scouring the zone but after probably 14-15 go arounds beast warrens finally got this bugger. Good luck everyone!

Only took me 3 rounds of the Beastwarrens to acquire Vile Deathroach, I was sure to kill any normal Deathroach or Mawrat that was sitting close to a spawn point, and as others have said you only need to kill the primary battle pet and then forfeit to get a normal Deathroach or Mawrat to despawn.

Try the "new" road to Korthia (You can see Korthia in the world where I found it), it's not on the map listed above and I'm guessing was added as a new spawn point or something during the Sanctum of Domination/Korthia patch. I found one at 65, 78 or so. Mine was found in "Ravener's Lament" ~
Found during first patch of Dragonflight.

There are Deathroach critters to kill to make the spawn faster. I found my Vile Deathroach in 2 rounds running around.

If you're still farming like myself, using In-Game Shop pet Lil' Ursoc speeds this up, since with Rend Flesh he can kill both Scurrying Mawrat and Deathroach in one hit if they have less than 1084 HP (depending on quality/breed). Just forfeit after killing the first pet.
