With 3 other players, stand on the corners of the platform and cast Convocation of Pain to summon the rare.
In The Maw have 3 rares with the same mecanic:

/way 28,9, 11,6 Talaporas, Herald of Pain
/way 19,4, 41,4 Apholeias, Herald of Loss
/way 42,1, 21,2 Ekphoras, Herald of Grief

These rares drop 3 items, that when combined create a Domination's Calling used to open a portal to kill another rare in The Maw: Exos, Herald of Domination.

Dominion Etching: Pain drop from Talaporas, Herald of Pain.
Dominion Etching: Loss drop from Apholeias, Herald of Loss.
Dominion Etching: Grief drop from Ekphoras, Herald of Grief.

I got all items on my first try.

This isn't always up, seems about 30 minutes longest I've waited.

I only do elite rares, they give 100 rep. I'm also tank, so I'll do dailies up to 90% (like if 9/10 for item or w/e). Than go do elite rares only. I can do 6 elite, 1 rare, 7th elite before I get 5 jailer stacks. Than I finish dailies. Up to you if you want, but dailies only worth 75, did get 1 worth 100 (this is not counting the weeklies you get from Ven on Tuesday, those i do).

Here is a couple macro's you can check if you've done the 9 known elites that I'm aware of. 3 are summons will require 3 more people. Usually not hard to get people.

I use Super Duper Macro, make 2 floating, and put the click command in 1 normal macro so I can see all 9 true or not. The numbers after are way points, but you have to manually put in. So Borr-geth /way 39 41 for example.

It looks like you can't summon this when the Venthyr assault is on.

We went there today on OCE servers and the summoning spots were blocked with the mirrors from the assault.

Today we were there and the channel was working but it didn't spawn.

Tried this today with a group and it would not summon, even disbanding and recreating the group on another shard. Necrolord assault was up at the time.

This worked for me when the Necrolord assault was up. I went to the platform one time and was unable to summon. I went up approximately 1 hour later and was able to summon the rare. The only difference being is that the second time I got a notification from my Rarescanner addon. One would think that since you need to summon the boss, he doesn't have a respawn time, but that does not appear to be the case.

can't find people to do this with. Why does blizzard make several people required rare's as achievement conditions i'll never understand

for anyone wondering it seems to have about a 30 min respawn time, if you aren't getting the extra button, you just need to wait. can't summon only when the venthyr assault is up.
