This is the demon summoned for the Timbermaw Hold Exalted quest.

The demon is summoned during the quest "The Root of All Evil". The quest becomes available from Gorn One Eye after reaching Exalted, with the Timbermaw.

You have to plant the torch closer to the front of Winterfall's cave. After that, he will be summoned and run up the path outside the cave to engage you.

In addition to the Aura of Rot listed above, he has a Shadow Word Pain ability and a Blastwave ability that function the same as the Priest and Mage spells, respectively. He also Enrages at a low percentage of health.

He yells the follow upon summoning:

"Your meddling in demonic affairs ends NOW, mortal! Face the great corruptor - Xandivious!

He says the following upon death/enrage/blastwave (not sure which):

"If it is my fate to fall, then my dying breath shall be take you with me!" (Not sure what that means).

If you are summoning him be aware of other players in the area that are not in your party getting the first shot in and tagging him. In my case, I summoned him and before I even saw him on screen a hunter had tagged him.

Luckily he doesn't drop anything, so they don't get any benefits from doing so apart from the rep, but its annoying none the less.

If you are feeling especially mean if this happens, dump all your threat and let whoever tagged him get killed.. *grins*

You can still loot the drop after he is dead.

This demon is responsible for corrupting the Winterspring furbolg. May his death be unforgiving.

Don't worry if someone tags him before you do, the essence is not loot from his body, but upon death he drops a basket which has the essence inside

If he's summoned but not killed, he hangs around the village attacking furbolg if his opponent has disappeared to the graveyard (I stumbled upon him twice without being on the quest). I noticed that he doesn't do any damage to them, though.

At least you don't seem to have to summon him again if you fail, he patiently waits for you to run back and try again.

solo'd as 56 warlock. Used Voidwalker to tank, kept corruption and curse of weakness on the entire time. Was tough to keep healing VW because of the threat generated. At about 6% he killed the VW and I feared him, then I backed up into a Winterfall Ursa (F&#*) I popped a Major Healing pot and he started coming back, I drained life and he finally went down! Then I had to deal with the Ursa so I feared him and dotted him and I lived to collect the essence! His aura hurts a lot.

Trying to solo him at 58 (fire mage) and can't get him below 60% before the poison kills me. Any ideas?

Solo'd him as a level 56 Combat Rogue. It was my 6th attempt. The abilities and items I used are: Evasion, Recuperation, Slice and Dice, Combat Readiness, the stamina heirloom trinket that gives a health boost, the heirloom necklace that gives a heal, a Major Healing Potion, Leeching Poison, Sprint to get away to use Throw to heal from Leeching Poison, Darkflight (Worgen racial) for the same reason, and lastly, the Furbolg Medicine Pouch (For the heal).

I used Throw to get his attention, and was already stacked up on 5 combo points, slice and dice and Recuperate already on full duration. I opened up with Revealing Strike and then used Eviscerate. I then stacked combo points with Sinister Strike, by 3 seconds into the fight, I was at half health, I popped Evasion and continued using Eviscerate, and Recuperate whenever it was about to run out. When Evasion wore off, I went down to about 15% health, and was about to be 1-shotted, so I popped Combat Readiness, went down to about 5% health, used Sprint to get away, pop the heirloom neck heal, and spam Throw to get HP from Leeching Poison. When he got to me, I used Gouge to get away again and use my Furbolg Medicine Pouch. I went to up about 40% health and he was close to dead. He got me down to about 2% health and I frantically clicked the HP boost heirloom trinket, allowing me to finish with a 5 point Eviscerate crit (If it wasn't a crit, I would have died).

So far a very, very difficult fight for Combat Rogue... or maybe I was just playing the class wrong, either way, if you're a class that can't have a pet tank for them, or cannot self-heal efficiently, do not attempt to do this alone, bring atleast 1 friend.

This guy one-shotted my level 48 hunter with a single tick of 3510 nature damage. He was scaled to my level, but his damage seems waaaay off.

1 hit from aura = death for level 50 char. Dumb. 40 yards away as well? DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB! Guarding the only gate in and out = DUMB AND DUMBERER!

Just came up against this guy on my level 60 Troll Warrior and his Aura of Rot hit me for 4367 Nature damage when I have only about 7k health so yeah this definitely wasn't noted when scaling happened.

At level 60 druid he is one shotting me for about 5500 nature damage.

I'm going to recommend there is an off hand weapon that Gorn One Eye sells that will heal you for 4K health every second for 10 seconds. Might be enough to help kill this guy. It's called Furbolg Medicone Pouch.
