Oh yeah, getting a world buff purged is such good PVP with all the counter play and all... Sorry but thats just idiotic. If they want my buffs, kill me, dont make it as easy as a click of the button...
5. Accept it is the way it is and move on.
My guess is that they're testing this for future permanent classic servers after TBC classic releases.
If people are honestly complaining that much about raidlogging then i would suggest removing all world buffs permanently.
CLASSIC+ BABY LESSSSS GOOOOOO!
Realistically, they should make it so you can go talk to the NPC (Ony, Nef, Hakkar OR Emissary in Booty Bay) while the event is active (ony/nef head..maybe add a ritual 'in progress' over at the isle). But only during the event. This way running those places is still encouraged, but you don't have to jump between alts and check Discord to see when buffs are about to go out.As for Songflower and Tribute Buffs; you're on your own. However, if this were to be done. They need to put the invisible box around them to prevent jerks from sitting on top of the NPC (even though you can /tar and keybind the Interact).BTW: Anyone saying this is 'not vanilla'. Dude. Pagle has 'on demand' Ony buff thanks to a Horde that mind controls the NPCs so we can kill them; 5-8 minutes later the buff goes out. So what's the difference between being able to get the buff at any point inside the 'two hour window' that the heads are visible. And scheduling, with the Horde, to MC and kill the turn-in NPC to get a buff out inside the 'two hour window' that the heads are visible.((And, yes, Blizzard has stated killing the NPCs to force a reset was done in Vanilla so is allowed in Classic.))
Another simple alternative, which works for both PvP and PvE servers is to simply let the raid leader turn on/off any selected set of world buffs in the Raid window. If your guilds want an unbuffed, the raid leader can turn them all off. If you need the buffs to progress, he/she can turn them on.
Obviously the easiest solution is to combine option one and two.Buffs still exist and can be obtained and can no longer be purged. This changes eliminates purge griefing. Next, auto purge world buffs automatically upon zoning into a raid instance. Problem solved. Raid logging remains viable because everyone is put on the same level as world buffs are concerned, so ranking without world buffs will the new standard and no one is at a disadvantage. Not allowing anyone to have buffs is the exact same as giving everyone all the buffs. Except now no one will ever be in world buff prison, and difficult content gets to retain some small shred of its original difficulty.Edit: Swype sucks, fixing errors.
World buffs are the only way to have fun as an under geared warrior in raids. I’m undergeared because I started the game late. Should my fun be punished because I’m newer or is the community ok with this gate keeping attitude that because I didn’t invest as much time as you that I don’t deserve to have fun?
One option not mentioned... have world buffs not available within raids. MadSeasonShow raised this option in a recent video, and it is one that I support. Right now, speed run guilds are completing AQ40 without any ranged at all (except one warlock on Twin Emps). This is terrible for class diversity in raid comp. Without world buffs, other classes would be viable. Raids full of warriors and a sprinkling of rogues is just not good for the game. Most vanilla raids did not have world buffs, and as MadSeasonShow points out... goes against the #nochanges movement goals. By removing world buffs in raids, we will actually be closer to the authentic vanilla experience.
World buffs are trash play. 15 years ago we weren't running around demanding people retain them in order to raid, meters didn't even matter for the most part. Even server leading guilds barely went raiding in Naxx with just Dragonslayer, and that was on progression nights. If you needed your guild's main tank for Scholo, your main tank was generally around enjoying the game and helping out. Today, not only are they raidlogged, but so are all your healers, the dps, and the only people online are leveling or playing 60 alts. My guild has 2 raids at the same time on raid days. We go from about 15 online at any non-raid time to 100 online on any given raid night or day. I don't even know who the vast majority of my guildmates are and I've been in this guild for a freaking year. It's not the same experience as Vanilla, that's for certain.I think my favorite BS lately is seeing people grinding AD rep and looking for more for Scholo/Strat - must have world buffs. It's out of hand, and Blizz really needs to just remove them entirely. If you're really just raiding to get gear to look pretty while raidlogged, what in the hell is the point?
I think the idea of a personal cd for world buffs makes good sense. You can go to the buff dropper and ask them for the buff and get it, along with a debuff the length of the normal reset timer for the buff dropping that prevents you from getting the buff again. This doesn't change the PvP meta because of the debuff and solves the raid logging issue since people can grab the buffs right before raid. However, I think it's probably fair to make people go to the buff drop locations. I've never made the effort to get the song flower buff, so why should I just get it in Org? I think you should still have to go to the Felwood and Yojamba Isle to get the respective buffs.I don't think it makes sense to add cost to them because that penalizes characters who used to have free access to the buff. Most people just show up and get world buffs, so don't take that away from them.
No one enjoy this meta world buff. It's so dumb. To me , it's the worst thing in the game
