Arthas, the son of life and death.
I'm most excited to find out how the Shadowlands has been potentially infiltrated by forces known only to exist in the living world. Evidence of this being how the Lich King armor and Frostmourne were forged in The Maw and yet made their way to the living realm. Originally this was accredited to the Dreadlords but if that's the case, how did The Burning legion find a way into the Shadowlands to take them? Similarly we see the Light represented in Revendreth both metaphorically as light shining down and burning the wretched and literally as a Naaru being tortured in the Sanguine Depths. Will we see the counterparts to these 2 Pillars of the Warcraft universe, that being the influence of the Titans and Void respectively, also make their presence felt in the Shadowlands before the story is over?
I'm really surprised the some of the Kyrian would be this "militant". That Uther would hold such a grudge that he would force his hand into the matter instead of letting the fate take care of it. I wonder if Arthas would end up in one of the covenants if it weren't for Uther and Davos.
The thing that gets me thinking is Uther's soul being split after he prays that the Light saves his soul. The part that enters the Shadowlands is golden, like the Light had a hand in causing his soul to split. Could the Light have selectively split Uther's soul so that his vengeful side would end up in the Shadowlands and eventually cause some of the Kyrians to rebel against their "path"? I've always wondered if the Light and Void have any influence in this expansion and if this crazy thought of mine is true, would the Light want the machine of death to "break"? Just some crazy thought ive been having.
What excites me the most in Bastion is the part exactly from 3:36 - 3:39. Listen to the sound and stop the image at around 3:38. Did you notice how much that sounds like azerite, and the little sparkles that are drawn there? There is something deeper going on with this essence, espescially when you look at how azerite looks and how reminiscent that was drawn. This was definetly intentional. What makes me curious the most is, what exactly happens when we return to Azeroth after this expansion. From what i've heard time flows differently there. I'm excited and i can't wait to see the Story behind this addon.
Getting to see all the ( dead ) greats, from WC3 to as recent as Legion, and what ( if any ) purpose they've found in their afterlives.Have they found redemption? Peace? Vengeance? Justice? Understanding? A way to atone for past sins? A way to commit even further sins? All very interesting to me. That, and I really wanna see Arthas and Kael'thas. And perhaps, if possible, Broxigar, or even Sen'jin. What of those sent to the Maw, as well? Very interesting!...Alright, so I'm a sucker for WC3 and earlier lore.
It excites me to find out more in-game about Draka and Uther. To see how will story progress between Thrall and Draka.
Honestly what excites me the most is the whole Eternal Ones story line taking focus in the shadowlands that will be unraveling throughout the expansion. I'm really excited to find out what it is that Zovaal (The Jailer) did to get himself imprisoned within the Maw. Whether what he did to get himself imprisoned was something out of pure greed in the pursuit of power or whether he was ultimately trying to help and ended up where he is now similar to Arthas' story. Another thing that I look forward to is finding out whether Arthas will actually receive fair judgement by the Arbiter after having been tossed into the Maw without "fair" judgement as shown in the first Afterlives cinematic. This may be a side addition but Kel'thuzad has been a pretty interesting character throughout the Warcraft lore and I look forward to finding out more about where the shadowlands expansion will be taking his story, and Mr. Bigglesworth's story as well of course! Can't have Kel'thuzad without Mr. Bigglesworth!
I wonder why Uther hesitated at end? Will this be explained somehow? I want him to reveal some juicy story pieces.
Justice is the most important thing in Retribution Paladin's heart.
It was interesting to see with the split as i'm sure many others have stated here, but also what will happen to Uther later down the line ( i seen the spoilers from Bastion questline, but i want to know more after what we seen ofc). I'm a little bit surprised at one point to see the long grudge Uther held over this, that might been a personality change with the soul split perhaps (might been as we see that Uther still feels the pain from the wound that have messed up his soul and that's why the grudge holds). He did also hesitate to throw Arthas at first into the Maw with some emotions attached so maybe not 100% into throwing him into the Maw.There's also the whole scene with the Archon, it felt more of a "get back on track" line to Devos than leave and take matters into hands? Heck i can understand why Devos felt ignored when there was proff that something was not right and a obvious flaw hidden under the rug in an attempt to be ignored. But the fact Devos is know as the Paragon of Loyalty is kinda interesting on what she did.
mounts mounts mounts and more mounts :D and i need to free arthas for sure
What excites me the most is to see what character we will encounter in our path through the shadowlands. Not only that but which characters that so far haven't been really in the spotlight but that can give a really good depths to the already very good story of wow. What we have seen so far was the always "pure, good, and just light" but slowly since a while already it has been letting us see its other side of the coming, radical (with the killing of the orcs that refused to be imbued by the light in draenor), the tortures Tyralion (mentioned in the book), the intent of forcing Illidan into the light and the fanatism from Tyrande in her persuet of her own so called "justice". In Bastion we manage to see another side of Uther in which he commits his vengance which he calls "justice" and Devos developing from that "just warrior" into someone more radical towards the incomprehension on how artifacts from the shadowlands ended up in the hands from the mortals. Which then caused the corruption from Arthas. All this brings us to the question: is that what we see real justice or is it influenced by the emotions behind each character?
I'm excited to see what really happened to Uther, as his soul apparently was divided into two parts, one got stuck in Forstmourne, the other (which we saw in cinematics) went to bastion, we saw that this part yearns for "justice" and he succeeded, throwing Arthas at the Maw, the other part we released at the end of the WTLK, that part we released still had a feeling for Arthas, Uther is still hurt, are we going to heal this wound by bringing its two parts together? This I would like to see
I'm mostly interested in ardenweald since the zone and winter queen seem a bit shady , especially after afterlives trailer showing some sort of fight between the races living there and when suddenly every creature there has same blue eyes as winter queen does.
I wonder whether every soul has two parts. And why does Uther's second half not return after Frostmourne was destroyed? Where is his second part? Where did all the other souls devoured by Frostmourne end up? We see them escaping the sword in the end of lich king cinematic...Will we ever find out? So many lore questions in Shadowlands.
I would say I'm most excited to see what the Shadowlands actually IS. It's clearly not *just* an "afterlife", not in the sense that we understand it. They say it's a machine of death, but if you are in the Shadowlands you can move to other planes/realms, which indicates it's just another plane, not necessarily some abstract "spirit world". And I can't wait to see what's actually happening with the Maw and the Jailor, and what it's role is *supposed* to be in the Shadowlands. They keep saying the Maw is a place where the truly wicked end up, but then each covenant ALSO says that every soul can be "redeemed" or changed or whatever, they're contradicting themselves. There is definitely more going on there and I really want to see what the Shadowlands is supposed to look/operate like if the Maw/Jailor has been altered from it's original purpose in the Shadowlands.Honestly there's just too much lore stuff I'm super eager to see the curtain pulled back on. Can't wait!
The story of Devos and learning why she turns away from the Archon's path was the most exciting part of the cinematic for me and I hope there will be more to the Kyrian campaign as the expansion progresses with the issues of Uther's unsanctioned ascension.
Way back in Wrath, the very first time I saw Ice Crown Citadel and the structures around it, I was kinda shook. The idea that Arthus or Ner'zhul had come up with the designs to build them seemed impossible. Those gates and buildings seemed like they were built by gods, something even greater than the Titans. I always knew that there HAD to be something more to the Lich King, that there HAD to be some greater power behind the helm. From what we have seen in this cinematic, hearing the frostmourne came from the maw and posses the power of the maw, my hunch that there was more to the Lich King all those years ago was right! The sword, the helm and Ice Crown itself ALL came from the mind of the Jailer, the Citadel was built like a key, and anchor to the maw, and we are about to find out why!I am SOOOOOO excited to learn about the Jailer, his story, how he somehow fell in with Sageras (which is how the helm and sword got to Northrend), what their original plan for the helm and sword was and most of all, who they were actually fighting against! Shadowlordes? Most likely, but what had the Shadowlordes done? Are they the ones that left the maw in it's current state? Did the jailer and Sargeras have a master plan and WE are actually the ones bringing it to completion by even going to the Shadowlands? Does Sylvanas understand what is actually happening? Does she realize that after all of these years, she is STILL under control of the Lich King because she is working for the Jailer?I need to know (I'm a bit obsessed)That is what I'm excited about. :DDavy
