Just a heads up, but 50g is only the base price of the waterwalking shoes. Getting Exalted with the Anglers reduces the price to only 40g a pop. So if you're going to be purchasing replacements, make sure you do so on the character with the highest standing with the Anglers.
For all the simple minds cheering: price was not the biggest issue. If I'll still be playing- giving Blizz relentless efforts to reduce their subs number by day- it would be fun to watch you complain the moment mount gear will be rendered obsolete, tied to 9.0 pathfinding/ reputation/ mats or instances. But hey, selling freedom for shiny bubbles is such a common mistake...
See I'm still all for this, but I thought we'd be able to equip certain mounts with equipment, so I could utilize different equipment on different mounts. It's a little disappointing in a way, because I'll probably just use this and never use any other mount equipment.
I like the idea of being able to water walk on a mount other than my strider, but the message from Nat could use more polish and imagination. It makes Pagle sound more like an goblin engineer than the annoyingly drunken and lovable fisherman many of us have known over the years.
Every single aspect of these changes have been a monumental failure on the part of Blizzard and their developers. This whole debacle required a few simple, player-friendly changes to make it a seamless, welcomed transition and as usual Blizzard decided to do the complete opposite and ignore everything their players told them. Firstly, retain water striders' ability to walk on water for those who have put in the time and effort to collect them while locking out the equipment slot just like the Sky Golem along with any future mounts with a special abilities built in. Secondly, allow each individual mount to be customized with its own piece of equipment, this way every single player can choose which of their mounts they want to walk on water, which can prevent dazing and which come with parachutes. Not only does this still sell a massive amount of equipment, acting as the apparently intended gold sink, it doesn't completely tick off the vast majority of paying subscribers while offering each individual a range of choices instead of being forced to constantly swap out one item for another.Continuing to ignore player feedback risks people simply circumventing Blizzard's proud little achievement with inexpensive, completely viable tactics. Dismounted by another player? Why waste tens of thousands of gold on equipping parachutes when you can carry a stack of Goblin Glider Kit and deploy one whenever you're knocked out of the saddle then control your descent away from the attacking member of the opposition where you can safely remount, or better yet swing around behind them for some swift, brutal retribution for interrupting your flight. And Dazing, who cares? Move sideways so you're not struck from behind, problem solved. Now to go stock up on glider kits and Tinker's Kit in case Blizzard decides to stealthily increase the costs.
It feels like a slap in my face to have them change the water strider mounts. I worked hard to get that rep, and I didn't do it for my health. They can give me all the consolation equipment they want, but they can't give me the time back.
This update is solely to make sure Hunters and DKs have OP mount options since they can simply use the no-daze equipment and never have to think about it ever again and it's because people at Blizzard play those classes. I'd include Shaman in this but it's pretty clear that nobody at Blizzard plays that class.
When you take something unique and apply to broadly to everything and homogenize the ability you essentially kill wow a bit more.
There are two Water Striders, Azure (from Pandaria) and Crimson (from Draenor). I am close to obtain 2nd one. I assume that it will also lose water walking ability. Do you know if I get free Anglers' Water Striders in my mail too?
Thx for screwing me and many over Blizz. Since myself and many got our water striders from Nat Pagle in our garrison after many arduous hours of fishing and don’t have exalted with the Anglers. Our reward with this new system, one free equipment and all our alts losing water walking strider. You really know how to force players to quit your game with bad decisions.
I might just use my Angler's Fishing Raft more often now.
