I don't get why people think the Water Strider is "compulsory". Are people really going everywhere on the Strider? I certainly don't. I have the Water Strider and I hardly ever use it unless I want and need to use it. I use what I want pretty much all the time.Honestly, if they wanted to fix this they could have given water walking to a few other sensible mounts like the Dreadwake and all the other flying mounts that hover instead of touching the ground. Maybe even make the swim speed of swimming mounts match or even exceed surface speed of ground/water-walking... I mean, we have 10 swimming mounts to choose from and I hate using them to cross water because they're slower than the Strider. But it seems pretty par for the course that Blizzard would rather nerf things that are too good rather than improving other things to be competitive. And while this sort of does both it's only temporary until the equipment gets replaced... or worse, until Blizzard decides that BfA's mount equipment won't work anywhere but BfA zones.
Even though some are calling this a nerf, that means the water striders now have 2 features , such as water walking and barding, to prevent the mount from sinking when you get attacked..., isn't that a bonus?*Edit; I see they are removing innate waterwalking..., that is a mistake however due to the grind required for a water strider.
I worked dang hard for the strider during MoP. How DARE you STEAL time from my LIFE! Every minute of every hour I spent to grind out that mount has been stolen from me. I feel violated.
The water walker shoes are account wide dude. Your alts get the ability applied to their mounts as long as you have one character with the mount equipment unlocked and the water shoes installed.why do so many folks not know this? and yet still complain?
What’s the big deal? Your alts can use water walking boots at 20. Literally you’re not losing anything.
No, they will have only one feature; a choice of one of three abilities, changed by socket slotting mount equipment, costing destroying whatever was previously socketed. Innate water walking is being removed.
#inequality make a harvesting mount for all professions or remove the sky golem effect
I am done. If I wanted to play a game where hard earned things are taken from me I would have kept playing Knight Online and being hacked by turkish kids in freaking cafes. I will go play literally anything &*!@ing else.
Take your Bets, Incoming Strider gating in the next Expac9.0 = Pathfinder part 1, Unlock faster mounts speed9.2 = Pathfinder part 2, Unlock Flying and Expac Specific Water Walking Equipment item.
People who are saying that we are complaining for no reason because we “aren’t losing anything”. You’re wrong. Plain and simple. I’m losing the choice. I have water walking right now because of my strider. I earned it, and now I have it. So when this change rolls out, I take my free water shoes and now I have water walking on every mount! What did I lose? The ability to choose other mount equipment. If I choose the daze or parachute equip, I literally lose water walking entirely. THAT is the issue. Leave the strider alone, continue with the mount equip. Blizzard once again mar their chance to implement an amazing change in this game by making unneeded nerfs.
You all know it only takes ONE DAY to farm the rep for the water strider, right (during MoP time walking)? And, you lose nothing, it will still walk on water as will all your mounts if you use the inflatable shoes. You lose NOTHING and gain so much. It's weird that people are angry over nothing at all lol
So with this change, the water strider just becomes cosmetic like virtually every other mount in the game. There are other mounts that require grinding as well that never did anything special. This isn't really a new thing here. For my part, I like the upcoming mount equipment feature and don't really mind 'losing' passive waterwalking to make way for it.
Although I don't know if it is account-bound, if it is permanent or will come with a timer, the best thing (I really hope) for the passive it's to be permanent an account-bound (yes, like keeping the passive). If it's not, once again blizz will have to deal with the anger of the player (the client). why? because they could easily keep the waterstrider mount with the benefit like the Sky Golem, I don't mind and I'm sure many players don´t mind to use this specific mount to walk on water because we got it precisely for that: because it walks on water. Yes maybe it's boring to use always the same mount and for that, give the possibiliy to other mounts to have a passive like this, but again, nerf it? totally absurd, unnecesary. I also get that because this mount was part of an expansion thats already in the past (2012), new players don't have any idea of some of the amazing mounts wow has, but because of this, it's an advantage for people who has the water strider to avoid places with numerous trash or to go from point A to B in less time, not to mention the beginnings of the expanson where many people race it, now to depend...on gold? (fun police here?).In the hypothetical case that this is not account-bound, we will have to buy it with every character if we want the benefit (1 gold is nothing but hey!, 1 gold x what...6? 7? 10? 12 alters?), if someone wants to put it in only 1 mount, but what if more than 1 or 2? that 1 gold will change to what...100 gold? hypothetically speaking. I'm not complaining about the price but rather the fact now it's something we will have to buy to "have fun".Bad decision blizzard, really bad, you still have time to change it.
Most of the comments here are just wrong or unrelated. This is overall a great idea with no actual downside. If they let water striders keep their effect like the sky golem all that I would do is put anti-daze on and still just use strider for water walking. Blizz is doing the smart thing even if you are too dumb to see it. Also the guy that thinks they are going to have Nat changing his price to match the AH price every minute did make me laugh on many levels.
