I like more the art style of this comic than the previous ones.Anyway as others I see a bit weird and unfair that the Alliance is in the three comics and the Horde just in half of one...Comics:1.Jaina = Alliance. 2.Magni = Alliance. 3.Alleria = Alliance. Vereesa = Alliance. Sylvanas = Horde. They could perfectly do a comic about Zandalar like they did with Jaina in Boralus (Kul'tiras) or one of Sylvanas and Nathanos similar to the Dark mirror short story or developing the story of some characters that received a new model in BFA like Liadrin or Rexxar.
Seeing Vereesa on the cover makes me tear up! Out of all the Windrunner sisters she has lost the most in her life! I hope the reunion will be beautiful and emotional.
Are these being released separately or are they coming with the Collector's Edition... or both?
The comics are a nice bonus but I'd still prefer it if there was one about a true Horde race. Make one about Saurfang, Baine or even Vol'jins Ghost.Even though I hate all three windrunner sisters, especially Sylv, I'm still gonna read it. Only because you hate a character doesn't mean you shouldn't check the story.
The only comics I would wish to see from the Horde side is either a Thrall or Rokhan PoV, while I've enjoyed what i've read from the 3 comics so far the development of the Horde from Legion to BfA from a view outside of Sylvanas has been limited (With the exception of Saurfang). From what I've seen in BfA Rokhan's duties and position in the Horde has been upgraded significantly and he's one of the few alive characters who's witnessed the evolution of the Horde from the founding of Orgrimmar to the multi-racial faction it has become, it'd be a fascinating perspective to see how he views Sylvanas and the addition of so many new races and his view on how far the Horde has come. Similarly Thrall's absence from the majority of Legion and what seems to be BfA so far is jarring. It'd be usefull to see the progression of his family in a comic because simply visiting his wife and kids in-game would possibly be too goofy and on the nose and his view on the contrasting leadership of his time as Warchief versus Sylvanas is an opinion which should of been expressed by now, especially with the Mag'har Orc allied race. Thrall used to be the poster boy of the Horde, and to be truthfull without him it's hard to feel much faction pride.
So does anyone know the release date?
Friendly reminder that Sylvanas planned on poisoning her sister and killing her, then raising her as a forsaken to be with her forever in the Undercity. (War Crimes, the novel, not the long list of things Sylvanas will feel the repercussions for by the end of the expansion.) I am expecting not good things from this meeting, it will either be a lot of filler content like the Jaina comic was, or it will end with another thing Sylvanas will do that is unquestioningly evil and will not answer for. Doesn't she have any character besides, "Time to kill everything and raise it as my eternal army."
I too have long wished to see the three Windrunner Sisters reunited in game. I perhaps have a special interest in this story as the father of three amazing daughters who are all very different (none Undead, thank you) yet connected with one another. Even more the triple goddess, usually in the persons of three ages of the same woman (maiden, nymph, and crone) is a very ancient motif. They are the Greek Fates, The Moirai, Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos. They are also the Norns of Norse Myth, Urd, Verdande and Skuld but they are also, in Greek Myth, Proserpina (Core), Demeter and Persephone (Hecate). In that Greek Myth cycle the beautiful, young Proserpina, also known as Core, the goddess of the rope grain) is seen by Hades, Lord of the Underworld. He asks permission of his brother, Zeus, to make Proserpina his wife,. Zeus assents and Hades (Dis) watches for an opportunity to kidnap her. One day Proserpina is gathering flowers below the Acropolis in Athens when Hades, in his black chariot, drawn by black horses, rises out of the earth, snatches Proserpina into his chariot and descends again to his kingdom. Proserpina's mother, Demeter, the goddess of the fertile earth and its crops, goes looking for her daughter and comes to the cavern left when Hades retreats to the Underworld with Proserpina. There she meets the swineherd whose swine were swallowed up by that chasm. The swineherd tells her that Hades has her daughter. Knowing that this rape could not have happened without the consent of Zeus, Demeter speeds to Olympus and confronts the chief of the gods. Zeus claims to know nothing and to be able to do nothing to remedy the situation. Demeter is certain otherwise and proceeds to blight the earth until her daughter is returned to her. No crops grow and the people of the earth begin to starve. In their suffering all the people of earth entreat Zeus to relent. In another interview with Demeter, Zeus tells her that she may have her daughter back so long as she has eaten nothing while residing in the Underworld. Demeter descends to Hades realm where she finds her daughter horribly transformed. Proserpina is now the queen of the Underworld, a goddess with a pig's head. It turns out that she has eaten (the number varies) six pomegranate seeds while in the Underworld which entails a compromise. Demeter's daughter will have to spend six months of each year in the Underworld as Persephone, the bringer of destruction, but will be returned to her mother for the other six months of the year as the beautiful Proserpina. This myth establishes the cycle of the seasons and becomes the basis for the great mystery cult of the ancient world, the Eleusinian Mysteries. I would reccommend to you Robert Graves' great study of this topic, The White Goddess. So what does all this have to do with the Windrunner sisters? Well, they are perfectly situated to fill those classic roles. Sylvanus is clearly a "bringer of destruction" and a goddess of the Undead reigning in an Underworld of Undercity. Alleria has traveled through the Dark Portal and returned while Vareesa has remained in the world of the High Elves. If they reconcile as three aspects of the same goddess their united power could check the worst impulses of each and make them a great power for good in Azeroth. The only relevant question is will Blizzard allow them to reconcile?
