I've tamed five of the Panthara's so far, not without significant frustration from 1) the low drop rate of the Talbuk Meat you need for the tame, and 2) the mistakes I made executing the tame, and 3) the frequent occurrence of the meat actually not doing its job. Yes, it's possible that I blamed some tame failures on the meat when it was actually me. But in taming five of the Pantharas, I had to collect around 9 meats and I had a chance to observe the process of the meat affecting the taming target many times. Sometimes it sure seemed to me that the mechanism simply didn't work and the tame failed. As I write this and read through some of the other comments, another tactic I might recommend is to avoid aggroing the taming target by icing it from a distance. But as I write this, I remember that I had to taunt and lure the Apex cat away from the Reaver's path before I could tame him. So take it for what it's worth. The process I used as a Beast Master Hunter was to Ice, Feign, Toss Talbuk Meat, and Tame. I didn't change specs like some recommend because I haven't developed the artifacts for those specs. In any case, I absolutely had to have the colors I tamed. You may want only one, but I like all of them. These are choice pets for hunters, in my opinion. I'm very pleased with mine.Wowhead Taming Panthara Pets-Skulhamr
Thanks Keason.
https ://youtu.be/1OhiqdS0_BAHere is a Talbuk Farming video, as well as a Panthara taming guide with the simple steps laid out.
So I tried and failed 4 times and then remembered that I still have a Haunted Memento in my bags. So I put it in the bank, went back and farmed up another piece of meat (ugh) and tame worked on the first time. If you're failing and have this item, try getting it out of your inventory for the tame.Happy hunting!
Failed 3 times following all the steps before finally finding someone mentioning that lone wolf caused a problem >.< will have to try again tomorrow with a talent change and hopefully i can stop wasting my time for this pet!
Can someone on the Secret Finding Discord please send me an invite @ Yelnari. Thank You!
As of 8.0.1 it looks like using a Freezing Trap bugs the process.I used 7 Fresh Talbuk Meat and the 6 first tries failed.Following the guides I Freeze Trapped the Panthera, followed up by throwing the meat at it and then trying to tame it directly, but the tame bugged. I tried several strategies with camouflaging before the Freeze Trap (it did not break stealth) and then throwing the meat. Feign Death'ing / Shadowmeld'ing after throwing the meat to lose aggro and what not.On the only try where I did not Freeze Trap the cat the Tame Beast worked as normally and there was absolutely no fuzz.
If I could upvote the comment about not frost trapping after 8.0 I would - In addition to this make sure your panthara is awake and on a relatively flat surface. It took me 6 tries to get the tame right because I was following old advice.
Patch 8.0.1 Success. DO NOT USE FREEZE TRAP. Just Camo>Throw Meat> Tame...That's all you need to do. I failed the first time when i threw the trap but 2nd time after reading updates here and it worked like a charm. I'm so happy now. Now to figure out a cool name for my new kitty!
Patch 8.3Didn't work, just tried this method on the Trench Stalker Panthara and WASTED the meat, be warned this method may not work.I'm giving up on this breed of cat, not wasting any more time on it.
