the new one is well made with coloring and design but i dont think that you should have changed the starting page from being a simple centered search.
it's awful to handle .,.
Overall, things are looking really good! Flat design is the new black. My only dislike is the way tab functions work, especially when creating guides. They used to have a slight background differentiation (like when you draw tables, each cell has a darker grey colour) so the paragraph below could easily be distinguished. With the new design it doesn't and it upsets the readability and you cannot (easily) see where the content of the tab ends.
Just move the new page to wowhead.com/news and put the old front page as the front page.We were seeing four news on the front page. Now I only see three of them if I don't scroll. http://www.bildites.lv/images/sss57iizrxvrl0ndl179.png
I think most people dislike change. That being said, it took me a bit, but I'm finding it easier to read after browsing for a bit.It is growing on me and I think it is a improvement. I think I'm going to like it.Thank you.Z
Where is a random page?
As a Wowhead user since 2008, I've never used or bothered about front page. I only used the search bar to check specific things to read about them, to see comments and I've been here every single day probably for all those years. I just came back here today after yesterday's shock and I still can't accept the font. I've looked through first 5 pages of comments and I can see it's not only my issue. More people report on the font being too big. If you cannot change it altogether perhaps some style change option for users?
On a positive side - comments in database items look perfect for me, it seems clearer than before although the previous design was in no way bad. Descriptions on items and quests seem some how too big however...But maybe you would consider somehow collapsing the comments? For example look at http://wowhead.com/class=2#commentsWhile it's great that you've put information there, maybe I'd like to see other comments without rolling down half page? Maybe some "show more" would work nicely if the length exceeds say 400 pixels.Besides you really should implement the same mechanics in the news page (hope it's not staying as the front page). "Continue reading" should expand the news item instead of redirecting to another page.Altogether - the design change is good, there are some flaws and we see you are constantly working on those. Missing front page is the only thing that actually sucks.
Adding my voice to "please give us back the uncluttered, quick-loading home page" in some form, whether via user option or a wowhead.com/orig link.I can understand you wanting to attract new users, and present your articles and guides to old users, but shoving it down our throats hardly seems user-friendly. Tontons' comment that the new page shows three news links while the old page showed four amused me greatly. A good case of less is more! Please don't lose sight of your original vision that has kept wowhead as the best WoW database for years. Add value, but don't let that value obliterate the reason many people come here.edit: just noticed that today's quote is "Wowhead: The Original" - reminded me strongly of Fizzy Faire Drink "Classic" flavor-text
sweet nicely done
Loving it, the blue tweet tracker is a nice addition!
General
I agree. It is hard to find what I want.
I shrunk the website down one size and now it looks much better for me. Not sure what it is lately about several websites changing their design to make their font sizes bigger and having more void spaces with content in boxes, which essentially cuts down on readable space on one screen, especially since more and more people are using widescreen monitors these days.
Are there more achivements added to the page now? :)Otherwise its not a good change!
awesome revamp guys, great job
Flat design doesn't fit this site at all. The first thing that got me is the drop-down menu. It looks like it is not made for this site. Messing elements with rounded corners with not-rounded is bad idea too, or at least you have to know what you are doing. Colors. Font-Size. Line-Height. Padding. Margin. Shadows? Really? On top of that when you fill the page with banners and pictures it makes it look even worse.Example for a nearly god-like flat design: http://www.ournameismud.co.ukMy own opinion. Good luck.
Great work, it really looks some way better than the previous one did.. Tho' I have noticed that there would be little improvements.. Anyway keep it up!
No. Just no. One of the reasons I loved wowhead was because of the neat search engine-like homepage. It was clean and much easier on the eye. This layout throws too much in your face the moment you open the page. I preferred the blog/news and the homepage being separate.
