I am very excited about this boost. I have played WoW since the beginning, and with each expansion I always focused on one character (I listed below). As in, when that expansion started, I played nothing but that specific character for probably 90% of the expansion time. I would get my gear as maxed as I could, master my ability to perform the roles needed for my guild, etc. I recently realized that I'm fairly certain the Shaman class would be the most enjoyable for my play style. I really want to play a Shaman and focus solely on him in this next expansion, but if I have a choice between leveling a shaman and quitting, I quit.Am I lazy? No, I'm just not insane. I'm not gonna level up through that content for a sixth friggin time, mindlessly staring at my screen for two weeks straight in anticipation of the end game.If you think I'm going to be "some noob with a new 90 and fresh gear" that you will have to deal with, you're wrong. I am going to study on my build and role, learn the in's and out's, practice in harmless 5 man instances that groups faceroll anyways, and THEN start intigrating into more difficult content, where I already have a lot of practice healing and dps'ing with the classes below. So, yeah, I'm excited to play a Shaman =DVanilla: Orc WarriorBC: Tauren HunterWotLK: Undead PriestCataclysm: Undead Death KnightMoP: Blood Elf PaladinWoD: SHAMAN! probably orc?

Well as for me if the price isn't crazy then I would consider paying to have a character leveled to 90. I have 7 90s, and have been playing since just after Burning Crusades was release. The drudgery of leveling to 90 is tedious to say the least. To be able to avoid that is a great deal for veteran players. Then to give them suitable gear is an even better bonus. Another possible use for this is for those veteran players that want to try a new realm. They'd have a self sustaining character of level 90 on the new realm. To be level 1 and on a new realm is NOT appealing so it might encourage veteran players to try a new realm. This is all just my 2 cents worth and you can take it for what it's worth.
I saw no harm in the SINGLE boost when buying a copy of WoD, but adding this as a character service is jumping the shark. I really really really hope this doesn't go through to live.
Here's my 2 cents worth : #1 : the PTR is a TEST server (PTR = Public Test Realm). Things can easily break. This is for you to TEST what's coming before it is put on the LIVE server for everyone to use.#2 : the upgrade to level 90 is so that you can TEST the NEW level 90 (or higher) stuff and REPORT back : good / bad / works / broken / can be better.#3 : it brings "everyone" to a common level.#4 : the PTR is not designed to be used the same way that a normal game server is. There may be some things missing on PTR which exist Live.#5 : this is really designed for experienced players who know the game to TEST new stuff. It's not designed for new players to jump in at the deep end and try to swim.Happy Testing,Wokka
More importantly - to me anyway - is if they're going to give us more character slots. I admit I'm a rabid altaholic, but I don't want a free 90 on some other server and my current is full with a bank alt.
Yes it appears as such. You should be able to get it to 600, which most likely NOT be the maxed in WoD, if they follow the pattern they have since Vanilla, WoD max will be 675. The point is they want you working on end game content not miring in "old content". A problem I see with /90, is the dungeon queue for lower level toons, it will be totally out of wack instead of a 7-10 minute queue it could be up to 45 minutes, but Blizzard won't care because you can just buy that toon to 90, more money in thier pocket.
No one purchased the mount. It was received
So how long 'till they start selling Gold? And will they be competitive with the Chinese? Cause I have more money than sense, and would really like Blizzard to take advantage of that.
anyone ever consider this scenario... a new player gets an automatic boost to 90.plays through to 100 and then says to him or her self "that was cool why not try a new toon from 1 ?" ffs people it's ONE toon. new players unlike all of the "experts" with 10 90's are where Blizzard hopes to keep gaining subscribers. they have the rest of us. just get over it and stop crying like little babies. don't want the boost? then DO NOT take it. i personally enjoy leveling and will continue to level my alts.will i use the boost?prolly.but it may be for a toon i already have at 90. taking a class i haven't leveled much or at all to 90 doesn't let me learn how to play that class or spec.yeah i know there will be 90 locks, druids and tank classes that have NO idea how to play them.if you find one in a raid boot em or don't invite them again. or maybe you could suggest the proving grounds so they can learn how to play their toon....just sayin.
Not to be a pain but i'd be into this. I have played through every expansion, leveled many characters to max level many time and honestly it gets tiring. I mean, i didn't skip all the content, i've seen it, i just don't need to see it 5 more times.
why to leave it half way then? if they bring this in, then it would be just the same to smack those bough 90's with lvl 90 professions too.or is it so that these "profession boosts" have to be bought separately? xD
To those having a cry: How does this affect you? You complain on behalf of new players, without knowing what they actually want. You also seem to be under the assumption that this is a mandatory thing and they're removing the levelling process entirely. It is not, and it has absolutely NO relation to how YOU play the game. "But they'll be noobs" - Yes, its possible, but the levelling process isn't all that great for learning a class. I started in vanilla and would say it wasn't until Cata that I would count myself no longer a noob. Healing/Tanking lowbie dungeons basically just involves spamming 1 button too, so no learning there. In addition, there are plenty of current level 90s who are bad at this game, so the argument that you learn2play while levelling is false. Let's not forget that those having a massive cry about this, are current players, and most likely will level their toons using a multitude of Heirlooms. Perhaps Blizzard should take these items out, because 50% extra XP bonus is "cheating"... Or for that matter people who buy a 2nd account for RaF and use that to level their characters....It literally takes a few days to grind from 1-90, so players buying a 90 aren't missing out on much. But more the point - what Blizzard has decided to do here, will have ZERO impact on how you, the current players, play this game. New players will still need to level professions (only given to those boosting a character already above 60), and will be entirely undergeared in comparison to 95% of characters. I mean, even alts I only use for farms are 495+ thanks to TI... These new players will also be 80-100 item levels below people who raid, so it's not exactly a pay-to-win situation.... This is not the end of the world, it is not the 'death of WoW', and it will not have any effect on what you as an individual take from the game. TL;DR - Stop complaining, the introduction of player boosting will not change how the game works.
So just out of wonder since my realm has almost no horde that like to raid unless your in a raiding guild specifically built/made for it will, does anyone know if blizzard will ever make LFR for higher than just LFR gear with same difficulty bosses as reg modes for those of us with this problem? would be nice instead of always feeling inferior because schooling and lack of horde gets in the way. - Sicklybeef, Aerie peak =D
Questing and leveling is only fun the first time around. After that it's a grindy chore especially at 60-70 and then 80-90 with the boring old world "revamp" that Cata brought being an extremely close third. Endlessly collecting fourteen animal parts that don't always drop is mindnumbing and takes away from immersion. "This village needs food even though all the guards seem fully capable of hunting and are only standing around. Better get some bear meat for them even though not all bears have meat." The point of an MMO is to bring you into the world and make you feel like you're having an impact, not to grind pallet-swapped mobs for days on end to get to level cap and then just do dailies for slightly better gear. If anything the paid 90 boosts will extend the games longevity since people will be more inclined to play classes they've been wanting to try but leveling has been keeping them from playing; you know, people with things to do during the day. Personally I've wanted to give Warlock a shot but the thought of having to do the same boring "help the cataclysm changed things!" quests I did while leveling my main and then the grinding nightmare that Outland is drives me away. It's literally no different than farming for heirlooms and rushing to level cap, just more convenient for people who don't have the time to put into playing through content they've already seen.
