Guys, I would love to support your work with real, hard earned cash. But the premium service does not provide me with any service that I personally see as having value. The features are mostly fluff, and I can appreciate this in our social media society thats exists today. But if you want my money, please add a WISHLIST for gear, achievements, rep, etc to the profiler and I'll sign up on day zero. The value of wowhead is in it's data and presentation, and unfortunately, we the visitors, have come to expect to get that information for free. I would hope that the premium service will eventually become a set of tools that allow us to be organize and access that data on a much higher and personal level...and that is something I would happily fork over money for.

I'll upgrade one day. xD. Can't really afford it now. And am taking a break from WoW.
....I would give Wowhead more money if they just asked nicely, don't try to "trade" a "premium" "service" for my money when the premium service only really removes adds, which I never noticed before. I don't see why people would pay 3$ a month for something like this, it's so basic. You know what's gonna happen. Either blizzard does a strike against websites (like they did with monthly fee addons) and force websites to stop asking money for a lousy service. OR WoWhead sees that a lot of people like to spend 3$ for the equivalent of a sheet of paper and start blocking features like allahkazam did, only available to premium. A third option would be a new WoW database from a brilliant mind that will stay completely free for about 3 years and the same crap will happen alllll over again. It's a vicious circle, I used allah before, then thottbot, then wowhead, then <insert weird name here>, all because they all came up with a capitalist, unprofitable idea. (except thottbot, I think)
I mentioned it before, but I know there are a lot of posts in this thread so I wanted to follow up—we actually CAN'T ask you nicely for money. Legally, we're not allowed to ask for "donations" or anything else that might indicate that we were a non-profit organization or a charity. So instead we offer you some little bonus perks, because status is all we really have to offer. If we restricted features, we'd lose the crowd who can't afford to pay—and people who don't have any extra money to spend deserve access to all that Wowhead has to offer too. Moreover, there are a lot of features we could TRY and make premium only—but then some other site, if they're smart, is going to check out how we did it and release a free version which is supported by ads, and then we're stuck. This is the best compromise we could come up with—to let people pay for little things (knowing that what they're REALLY getting is the status, and the knowledge that their money is helping us to create awesome new features for everybody), while keeping all the big things available to the entire community.
If you never want to pay for something you use and to always get things for free, go have a talk with the neighborhood IRS agent or your local McDonalds or any other business. You (for whatever reason) expect to get free Internet services from sites such as wowhead, yet grouse when a premium service is introduced which you do not need to pay for.You don't like the idea of a premium service that you don't need to pay for? Fine, complaint registered. Now go back to playing your video game (which you do pay for)
To go back to the original cause for me to come to the thread to begin with...For the year membership via PayPal, are you still running about a week for membership activation? How long should we wait before raising a flag?
ok i signed up, how do i use it to log in to wh? it has me signed up on zam but doesnt say how come its not linked to this wh user name
May I recommend you all start getting disappointed when (if) things go bad, instead of assuming the worst? Wowhead is yet to let me down (as both an active user and a Staff member) - I don't expect it to happen anytime soon at all. If there is a flaw in the website, it is the time it takes to produce a service, not the quality of that service - and the reason for that is not the lack of motivation in the workers, it's the lack of workers. TL;DR - Let's wait and see, shall we?EDIT: Everything I said in this reply comes me as a user who frequently uses the DB, not as moderator. My opinion may or may not be shared amongst the other colored posters.
Well I'm already a subscriber on Wowinterface so I gets prem. service here automatically :DOne thing tho : I changed my account name on wowinterface. I did the prem. service upgrade on this site under my old account name. Would there be any trouble getting it switched over to my new account name on wowhead ?
