All of Shadowlands draws heavily from the 2nd edition Planescape setting in D&D. There are too many examples to list, but some of them include the factions (covenants), Lady of Pain (Arbiter), and the planes themselves. Planes of Torment in the Maw is most likely a reference to Planescape Torment, a fantastic PC game set in the Planescape setting as well.
I wonder what made MrGM to look there...
I doubt Blizzard would bother adding a new house to Elwynn just for the sake of a reference. This could be something more...a questline involving human wizards, inspired from Volothamp Geddarm, as Wowhead speculates, that will reward us with the most vital costumization option for Humans that we never got: a LONG, wizardly beard that reaches the chest/diaphragm! The Night Elves have unlocked Night Warrior eyes through a questline, so it would be neat if Blizzard finally allowed us to create proper necromancers, wizards, priests, or even vrykul wannabe humans through a questline like this.
Nice for D&D players i guess, this means nothing to me.
I'm intrigued by this small change. WoW makes relatively little use of its glorious world and our beloved older zones. I sometimes wonder what it'd be like if they tried to breathe some life back into that world. I agree that old models in old zones work best.
