There's not really any fancy trick or complex setup required with Korthia's new trinket Tome of Insight
, it's a basic stat proc trinket that provides a decent amount of critical strike for 20 seconds. The thing that is unusual about it compared to the vast majority of other stat trinkets in the game is its proc rate. While most trinkets like this have something in the region of 20-35% uptime, this trinket has closer to 65% uptime in combat. Tome of Insight
's proc rate also scales with your haste, making it significantly more likely to give you stats while you're under the influence of Bloodlust
and other major cooldowns.
The downside of simple stat proc trinkets since Legion has always been their inconsistency, not having them active during your cooldowns matters when specs revolve around overlapping as many powerful buffs as possible. This trinket is also just over budget compared to trinkets of similar item level, plain and simple, beating every Castle Nathria trinket at low item level, and most if not all Sanctum of Domination trinkets when fully upgraded.
It's unlikely any of this was intentional, and as much as it shows this one trinket is significantly over powered, it also shows how weak the new raid trinkets are compared to previous tiers and expansions.
