Well written. I can only feel betrayed for them because of some guild in Siberia decided the event was theirs... I hope they did not work too hard the next day.
Woah Grown ass people jeopardizing their own livelyhood and health in order to get their hands on 10 pixel mounts and virtual grabbing rights. Staging an all out civil war in the process, with unions and betrayals and hidden forces in the background.I absolutely love this :) goes to show how amazing it is to play an mmo. I think current wow has the same possibilities, and blizzard shouldn't be afraid to embrace it.

Between eastern and western parts of russia there's 12 almost hours of timezones
Please, leave the russian comments for at least an hour - ill gladly chip in translating them so you can substitute the removed for what they wanted to say (works for this thread only)
Really I still don't get why this comment section is English only. It's a bit silly that youtube has more freedom.
wow, that's underhanded and dirty. Gotta love the wow community..
In Hyjal EU, 15years ago, Warsong Fury (Horde) and Woot'n'Style (Alliance) did the same and chose to open the gates together early than planned, without others guilds/people, to prevent server crash (too much players at the same time in Silithus)There was still freeze and server problems, and unfortunately no "10 hours civil war".A lot of people like me miss this event.
So let me get this straight, people were angry that the silithus event was going to start at degen hours... in russia, where timezones can span 12 hours. So their response to that was to stay up at degen hours griefing people to prevent that from happening. I really hope the irony isnt lost on people because that is just plain dumb.
This was a sick write up. Well done.
That is an interesting community story to hear, the organisation, the uproar and the tactics against one another to have it their way. Only by collating the points of view from many sides can you piece together such an event. Thanks for sharing this!
I thought the killing of NPCs with the sole purpose of preventing quest turn-ins was considered griefing? Don't you get banned for that?
