The final point needs more elaboration. Compared to Retail, Classic tanking WILL have you losing aggro if your DPS burst or even just don’t let you get some hits in first. Seen it plenty of times already. If you’re a Retail tank, this is something you’ll just have to learn to deal with. It’s not your fault that people don’t understand how Threat works in Vanilla. When the DPS pull a dude off of you or you can’t have aggro up 100% of the time, it’s just the way tanking works in Vanilla.
Or: Get a shaman, get a two hand, use sweeping strikes > berserker stance > berserker rage > whirlwind > battle stance > thunderclap > berserker stance > cleaveBring a mage to frost nova so you can back up and get heals too. Just make a macro to put on a sword and board for defensive if you get low. Pretty much 1-50 is beyond forgiving in this way. I've yet to see 50+ in this version but I imagine it wont be much different if you know what you're doing.
A good tip I've found tanking several dungeons now that might not be so well known; Sunder armor. It does no damage but generates a lot of treath. Spam one or two stacks of sunder on all targets and your life will be much simpler, even if your dps will drop off a bit :)
In my experience so far, strafing has not been working in classic wow. I very frequently get dazed while strafing.
A lot of original boss mechanics (e.g. enrage stage and buttons on the last boss in gnomeregan) are not present in the game. Every boss can be zerged by a group lower by 2-3 levels. What surprised me - most of the players think that is how it was in vanilla. Seems like no one remembers original dungeons.A couple of days ago, i went to SM Lib and our tank, warrior with 2h axe, easily pull several packs at once and healer even had his time to attack with wand. Our group was ~33lvl. Thats all you need to know about tanking in classic. This guide is good, but with current patch its excessive.
What's with the idea that warriors have difficulty leveling? It's not true at all, they can take 3+ mobs aoe it down in 15 seconds and eat afterwards. Ret paladin sits there for a minute trying to white swing 1 mob to death. IDK why people think warriors have trouble, it's not true, at all, they're probably one of the BEST levelers, especially paired with a healer.
10 tips for enh shaman tanks maybe? Please?
At level 24, I can take 2 melee type mobs at a time, max. I have rend (pfft) and thunder clap (pfffft) as dps abilities. Heroic strike works on your next weapon swing so if your weapon is slow, so is the fight. Guess what every guide recommends you use? A slow 2h with high damage.
Still waiting for shaman tanking guides.
Put in block-revenge-taunt 1-2-3 use 1231232131231231231 ( best tip )
