I find it funny how Liquid's raid leader non-stop talks about how the 16 hour advantage is not that big of a deal, because you can avoid bugs and copy strats, totally disregarding the huge mental toll it has on the catching up team on top of potentially losing to an earlier reset gear advantage kill. But as soon as they fall behind they start tilting and can't even make 1 decent pull and call it quits. Pretty funny ngl. Last tier it was a gear disadvantage, because they didn't do the right splits, this tier is too long, but I guess winning Castle Nathria, because of the early reset and making Echo completely abandon all their splits and reclears to try to salvage something is a fair win in their books. Good riddance if they disband soon.
This is my problem with the way people are defending this... they are talking about how its not fun for them ect ect. People need to realize this isn't supposed to be about the "fun" when literally a job they are sponsered by a major org to compete once a year lol. That said... a month straight of this wearing them down makes sense. But it honestly seems to me that they take these events as a party while advertising it as a competition. They chalk it up to "we pull better when were @#$%ing around" but this is the second race they have lost.. which is basically the only reason their org / sponsers exist, so maybe they should take it a tad more seriously at times. And people will also point out "well they are the 2nd best guild still" okay.. with like 200% of the support and resources of the 3-5th place guild who aren't that far behind them this race. They fly out to the facility a week or so before Mythic was even out to do splits (why not just do them remotely), mess around a ton on pulls. Obviously Max can't just be hitler and scream at people because that will wear them down even faster.. but you could see at pretty much any point in the race the difference in attitude from Echo to Liquid. In SoD, they literally complained "Painsmith was a banger" even though he was a midraid wall... and were complaining about it during prog... then said that the 3 bosses after it falling over tainted the quality of the raid (after cheesing a few of them no less). This time... there was a mid prog wall.. and the last 3 between the final weren't "dissapointing" and they are complaining its not fair and they can't beleive blizz would do this. It honestly comes across as complacancy to be honest. Ultimately not my problem if Liquid wants to pay all this money for an event they don't take serious enough once a year.
Im aware "banger" means good... but during progression when it was a wall they were ^&*!@ing it was too hard and unfair. Thats my point, they said after the race that they liked there was a 7th boss (like holondrus) that was a wall... but were dissapointed that KT, Guardian, and Fatescribe were jokes... this time the ones in between weren't and here we are."the orgs don't sponser them to win" This is exactly my point... they pay a #$%^load of money in salary, and assumingly the venue, catering, flights, and accomidations with the expectation they are going to compete as seriously as possible to win. Instead it really seems like they are just complacent and treat this whole event like a party on the orgs dime. Pretty sure Liquid aren't signing a WoW branch, which has never even been a super popular Esport game, to say "home of the world second raid team". The more RWF that happen the more it honestly comes across as Max just wants it to be JUST difficult enough for them to clear comfortably and win, but not easy enough that hes going to complain that it was a fast or underwhelming raid. Like the whole gearing thing... they aren't designing the game to be beatable the first 3 days 0.000001% of guilds can beat the hardest content in the game. The raid was tuned to have double legendaries clearly, and his original concern was all the bosses would fall over once they get them.. well they got them and still lost. All the people that parrot this bull&*!@ about master loot and BoEs are literally completely unaffected by it.. and for some reason defending a guild being paid to raid who will do anything degen anyways... If they put master loot back on.. next he would complain "well now i have to do more character splits to gear up more classes since were able to, and if were able to we would." So basically other than making it a 100% chance you get BiS gear by just running heroic once per character, then locking it down in some fashion focing them to not do more characters per guild.. they are going to cry about something.
Sounds like they made up an excuse for losing. Echo is the new best in the world. Period.
Race isn't over, some guilds are just cutting back on day raiding hours and Liquid are going back home to finish it on Monday.I really don't see why the raid should be designed around a few guilds who do the most degenerate *!@# being able to clear it in a week or two. Some raids you will, some you won't. If they're forced to go back home and play like normal players for the last boss I really don't mind. The race continues, even if in this case the gold medal is already handed out - it might make Silver more interesting if it allows the guilds that don't have the unique sponsorship opportunities Echo and Liquid have to compete on a more even footing. If Echo hadn't been able to down it on Sunday and had also been forced not to retire from the race, but shift down a gear then it might have even made gold interesting. I doubt it, because I don't think there are guilds with enough talent to compete, but I don't think it's inherently bad.The raids shouldn't be designed around WFR. They opt to race to the end and jump through obscene hoops, they know the potential downsides just like they know the upsides that come from the sponsorships and stream donations. If this ends up being "too much" for the top end guilds then then at worst they're all forced to raid at sane hours and do less degenerate %^&*. That doesn't feel like a failure of raid design unless they literally can't clear it like that. It's up to them if they think it's worth the money and prestiege, not Blizzards development team to ensure they can make bank.
Since when is okay to be rude and nasty to people in these comments? This is as bad as reddit. People just posting toxic opinions about people personally, and as if they are fact. Does it make you feel better about yourself to slander someone via internet comments? Keep those rude assumptions to yourself - these are real people with real feelings who don't need to hear your negative thoughts. I really enjoyed watching both top teams - well done all.
What else Team Liquid do?
